In Maps Module, please enable simultaneous display of multiple GPS Tracks

Hi LR4 team,
First of all, a big thank you for adding geotagging and mapping support in this version.  I was one of the (many) users who was disappointed that geotagging (as well as soft-proofing) did not make it into LR3.  This time around I'll gladly part with $99 to upgrade to LR4 as it has some great new features.
In the maps module, there does not seem to be a way to display multiple tracks simultaneously.  There's an option to switch between tracks (Map->Tracklog->Next Track|Previous Track) but it doesn't appear to be possible to display multiple tracks simultaneously.  This is a pain, especially if you load a tracklog which contains multiple tracks.  Many dataloggers will start a new track each time the GPS is power cycled (e.g. with battery changes).
Instead of cycling through tracks one at a time (as is the case in LR4 Beta), please consider implementing a multi-select list where the user can check which tracks he/she wishes to display.  Naturally the multiselect should also allow for "Select All" and "Deselect All" and selection of (multiple) ranges using the Shift and individual tracks by holding the Control key -- you know, the typical behavior for lists.
Also please ensure that LR4 hand comfortably handle large track files. I use a datalogger that records its location every 1-10 seconds throughout the day.  This results in a fairly large data set to process.  When travelling, I may not have the opportunity to upload from CF to LR and sync with GPS tracks for several days, which means that I may have accumulated somewhere in the range of 5MB to 50MB of NMEA track data (depending on the sampling rate) in around 5-20 separate tracks.  I'd like LR4 to be able to efficiently handle loading these tracks and tagging all newly imported images.  As above, it would be helpful to enable simultaneous display of many tracks.
Thanks!
PS: Love the animated (bouncing) trackpoint to disambiguate multiple images taken in close proximity to one another.

Just as a side question:
Have you ever loaded a tracklog containing different tracks belonging to more than 1 month?
This is what a tracklog with tracks from 10/14/2011 to 11/07/2011 looks like here:

  • Lightroom 5.2 map module not displaying maps

I am having all sorts of problems with Lightroom 5.2 and wish I'd just stayed with Lightroom 4. I've already posted about not being able to import directly from an SD card in my laptops reader, and have at least found a work around to that (copy files to hard drive them import - I see others have found the same thing and it works just fine).
Now I have realised that the map screen in the map module is blank. I had this problem initially with Lightroom 5, and then it seemed to resolve itself. It is refusing to resolve itself in Lightroom 5.2 however. I've searched on the web for similar problems, and have found some responses to blank map screens in Lightroom 4, but they are so technical I haven't got a clue where to start trying to follow them.
So, I am a simple soul who needs a simple answer. I am using LR 5.2 on an HP laptop running Windows 7. In the map module, where I already have GPS data (from a Canon EOS 6D) it is displayed in the metadata, and the little pop up box shows the number of photos at selected locations etc. But the central map screen is black. If I search, the screen stays black although it appears as though it has gone to the location. The Navigator screen is blank too.  And yes, I am connected to the internet and LR5.2 seems to be able to find the internet (I checked by going into the web module).
Can anyone help me please. I like to put GPS locations on my photos prior to upload to Flickr, and whereas they are there from photos from my 6D, they don't exist for photos taken on my Canon Powershot.

A work-around that I am using is to run Lightroom as an administrator on my Windows 7 system (right-click on the icon and choose run as administrator).  Everything then works ok.  I also needed to run as an administrator to be able to update some plug-ins I was using.  I fixed the plug-in update issues by changing the permissions on plug-ins folder.  I suspect that it is a similar issue with the maps.
I have not figured out what folder or files need to have the permissions altered to stop Lightroom from working in the unelevated state but if someone reading this knows please share.  I saw some posts related to the same issue but on Macs but the Windows configuration is different.

  • Map does not show in Map Module

I'm using Lightroom 5.4 on a Max 10.9.3. The map does not display in the Map Module. All I get is a blank screen. At on point I briefly saw the message the Map is Offline, with a map of the world, but then it said Map was Online and all I have is the blank screen. Can you help, please?

Do you have Lightroom installed on a case-senstive partition?  See here for more details and troubleshooting:

  • Why doesn't the Map module work with Lightroom 5.6 on OSX Yosemite?

Since upgrading to OSX Yosemite the Map module won't display the roads or satellite images with Lightroom 5.6.  Sometimes it will download a small portion of the imagery but then it just displays the message "No imagery available".  If I try and zoom in all I get is a blank view.
It's nothing to do with my internet connection as Google Maps in Safari comes up instantly.

Adobe acknowledged this problem some months ago in the official Adobe feedback forum, but it still hasn't been addressed:

  • Imported mapping in template mapping module still runs against old location

    Hello,
I imported the mapping in a new workspace (located in other server) using object names strategy, and I reconfigured the location source (it's a generic one) it uses.
Looking at the mapping Configure menu / Table operators / Location I see the correct location I want to use.
The template mapping module has the only data location Default Agent.
I have synchronized several times with the inbound repository table information, and redeploy the mapping, but it still goes to the old location, that has been unregistered / deleted in the current repository.
I don't know how to make the mapping runs against the location I want to. Please, help me
    Thank you

    Hi Alexander
After copying a table to a different module, edit the module to set the data location, configure the module to define the location and synchronize the mapping to use this table.
In OMB to synchronize inbound and outbound use OMBSYNCHRONIZE command
    Inbound:
OMBSYNCHRONIZE TABLE '$OMB_CURRENT_PROJECT/SALES/TABY' TO MAPPING 'M_W_PARAMS' OPERATOR 'TABY' USE (RECONCILE_STRATEGY 'REPLACE', MATCHING_STRATEGY 'MATCH_BY_OBJECT_NAME')
    Outbound:
OMBSYNCHRONIZE MAPPING 'M_W_PARAMS' OPERATOR 'TABX' TO TABLE '$OMB_CURRENT_PROJECT/SALES/TABX' USE (RECONCILE_STRATEGY 'REPLACE', MATCHING_STRATEGY 'MATCH_BY_OBJECT_NAME')

  • 1/2 Hour Time Shift in the Map Module

A quick search didn't find anything, but this was mentioned on the Lightroom channel on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I662DDxQQUI).  When working with tracklogs in the map module, LR allows one to timeshift the data to allow for time zone changes between the camera and the GPS receiver creating the log (‘Set Time Zone Offset’ in the Tracklog dropdown menu).  However, some countries like Canada (Newfoundland) and Australia have 1/2 hour time zone shifts as well as one-hour time zone shifts, so it would be a good idea to have the shift broken down into 1/2 hour increments.
    Mike.
Update: I just had another look at this, and while the slider moves with the mouse in one-hour increments, one can manually type in an offset of whatever time, so 3.5 hours for example is possible.  Never mind!!
Leaving this here in case anyone else is wondering...

Check if "Time Zone Support" is turned on. If it is turn it off.
Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars->Time Zone Support (down at the bottom).
When this feature is on it displays even dates and times in the time zone selected for calendars. This must be 2 hours difference in your case.

I recently tried to add a couple of "ip dhcp relay address" statements to an SVI and received the following error message:
ERROR: Hardware programming failed. Reason: Tcam will be over used, please enable bank chaining and/or turn off atomic update
Studying this page I was able to determine, that I seemed to be hitting a 50% TCAM utilization limit on the F1 modules, which prevented atomic updates:
    # show hardware access-list resource entries module 3
ACL Hardware Resource Utilization (Module 3)
                              Instance  1, Ingress

I was able to workaround it be disabling atomic updates:
    hardware access-list update default-result permit
    no hardware access-list update atomic
I understand, that with this config I am theoretically allowing ACL traffic during updates which shouldn't be allowed (alternately I could drop it), but that's not really my primary concern here.
First of all I need to understand why adding DHCP relays are apparently affecting my TCAM entry resources?
Second, I need to understand if there are other implications of disabling atomic updates, such as during ISSU?
Third,  What are my options - if any - for planning the usage of the apparently relatively scarce resources on the F1 modules?

    Could be CSCua13121:
    Symptom:
Host of certain Vlan will not get IP address from DHCP.
    Conditions:
M1/F1 Chassis with Fabric Path Vlan with atomic update enable.
On such system if configured SVI with DHCP is bounced that is if we shut down and bring it up may cause DHCP relay issue.
    Workaround:
Disable Atomic update and bounce the Vlan. Disabling Atomic update may cause packet drops .
Except that ought to be fixed in 6.2(2).

  • Lightroom 4.2: Wrong time in map module

In Lightroom 4.2 I use the map module in the following way:
    1. Load a gpx-Track
    2. Select one or all tracks
    3. Select the photos to be tagged
    4. Select the correct time zone shift (normally the time interval of the track contains the time interval of the photos)
    5. Tag the selected photos
Now all photos are tagged correctly. But there is one small bug:
moving the mouse along the track displayed in the map does not show the local time including the time zone shift but the UTC without time shift. This is somewhat confusing. I think this bug should be removable easyly.

Please help on display/enable hindi lang in bb9790 bold os 7.1. Before os upgrade i was able to see msgs bt I'm not able to see them now. All appears as black box. Plz suggest

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
You need to ensure that you have an OS package installed to your device that contains the language you desire, as well as ensure that you have on your device fully activated the language. The simplest way is to, on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):
    1) Make sure you have a current and complete backup of your BB...you can find complete instructions via the link in my auto-sig below.
    2) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
    3) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed
    http://us.blackberry.com/software/desktop.html
    4) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
It is sorted first by carrier -- so if all you want are the OS levels your carrier supports, your search will be quick. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To truly seek out the most up-to-date OS package for your BB, you must dig through and find all carriers that support your specific model BB, and then compare the OS levels that they support.
Please use this KB as reference to make your selection:
Article ID: KB05305 Localization support for BlackBerry smartphones
    5) Delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
6a) For changing your installed BB OS level (upgrade or downgrade), you can launch the Desktop Software and connect your BB...the software should offer you the OS package you installed to your PC.
6b) Or, for reloading your currently installed BB OS level as well as for changing it, bypass the Desktop Software and use LOADER.EXE directly, by proceeding to step 2 in this process:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC.
If, during the processes of 6a or 6b, your BB presents a "507" error, simply unplug the USB cord from the BB and re-insert it...don't do anything else...this should allow the install to continue.
If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:

There were no results to display. I searched both the computer which is working and one that doesn't.
I used printStackTrace() to get more error message. Is there a way to print the error msg to a file so I can paste it here? Among other things, it said the following:

  • Map is not enabled in your country (which is US)

I installed the lightroom in US, but it says "map is not enabled in your country".
Language of Lr is Chinese, but it should not be the problem since the message still exists after I re-installed it in English.
    Things I tried:
    re-install Lr
    re-install Adobe Flash Player
    Update Windows
    Use VPN
    Close firewall
    All didn't work.
When I try to switch map style, the program do successfully connect to Google server. I can see lightroom.exe connected from IP 169.231.36.247:52674[My school in Santa Barbara CA] to 74.125.25.95:443[Google's server in Santa Clara CA]. I tried to use ping command on this IP, everything is fine.
So WHY it keep telling me map is not enabled in my country?! (Of course in "my country" Google disabled map because I'm from China but I'm not in China now!)
The only reason I can come up with is that "Adobe can somehow find out where the computer is bought or where the people sitting behind the computer is from and disable the map". I believe Adobe is not likely to do things like that.
If people from Adobe can see this discussion, please tell me how Lightroom detect the country. I will do anything I can do to enable that map.

Thank you for your suggestion but I can't find that " Lightroom Registration" button.

  • Map is not enabled in your country

Why map is not enabled in my country?

    Thanks Hal ...
As far as I know, there is no political restriction on Google Maps in my country,
I think that the licensing problem is between Adobe and Google ... isn't it?
If so, Adobe should think to activate the map module for all of its customers.

  • Map Module Discrepancies / Syncing Camera time to GPS Logger

The Map Module of LR5 lets us use the Set Time Zone Offset to account for the fact that you may not have reset the time on your camera when you crossed time zones. For that purpose, it works well.
But what about an equally common occurrence – the camera time is a minute, two, or three out of sync with the GPS time? That doesn’t seem like much, but in my test a photo of my house showed to be taken 2 or 3 houses down the street. That is not a big deal until you’re photographing something like an ancient temple in Cambodia where you don’t have a known reference point. The Map Module does not allow you to adjust for this. How do you get everything to show up right in the Map Module, and have it geotag your photos correctly?
This requires synchronizing the camera time with the GPS track logger device (not the computer) to get the minutes and seconds right. What’s the best way to do that? Here are some thoughts.
Before leaving for your shoot, synchronize the time in your camera to a website with the correct time, like www.time.gov. This is the simplest and easiest if you remember to do it. I tested and it works. Set your camera time to 30 seconds ahead of the current time, and put your cursor on OK. Then as the website counts down to the time you set, simply hit OK and you’ll be right on.
If you forget to do that, there is another alternative. At the beginning of your shoot, press the POI or waypoint button on the data logger while simultaneously taking a photo. Compare the POI time stamp to the photo metadata to get an adjustment time. Then use Edit Capture Time in the Library Module to apply the adjustment time to all the photo metadata. In my GPX file the waypoints or POIs appeared with a <name> entry when viewed by Notepad. You can ignore the hours in the time entry and focus only on the minutes and seconds.
If you use a GPS device with a screen rather than a data logger (I don’t because of expense and bulk) then take a photo of the screen and later compare that time to the metadata time to get the adjustment time.
Finally, if you find out after the fact that you didn’t do any of these, here’s a work-around.
Find a photo that you can locate precisely on the map based on its contents. Roll the mouse cursor over the track log in the Map Module at the point where you know you took the photo. That is the time that should be on the photo. Compare that to the time actually in the photo Metadata and you’ll see what the time adjustment should be. Use that in the Library Module to edit the capture time. Using several photos if you can to get an average is best.
If your shoot doesn’t contain a photo for which you can precisely identify the location, go out in front of your hotel or guesthouse, walk an identifiable route, and shoot a photo at an identifiable location where you can. Unless your camera time has drifted substantially, that should be close enough.
If you’ve already applied the GPS data to the photos before correcting, simply select them all, and delete the GPS coordinates in the Metadata panel. You can autotag again in Map Module after you’ve adjusted the time.
    These solutions seem to work.
What additional thoughts, comments, or solutions would you like to add?
