In need of a Seamless Pattern expert

When I'm creating patterns I can see thin lines showing the bounding box...is this going to print? If so how do I get rid of those lines to make the art seamless??

To ensure it's just the screen redraw issue, zoom in.. if the lines vanish or never increase in size, it is indeed all on-screen and not really present in the art -- so they won't print.

Pattern fills with seamless patterns

Hi,
I'm doing some shapes that have a seamless pattern fill & then I want to use the shapes with the sealess pattern fill in another seamless pattern. The only way i see I can do this is by expanding the artwork before dragging it into the swatch palatte. The files are so big illustrator is crashing or the file is near impossible to work with. I love the look of what i'm doing..but the files are too big. Any ideas on a better way to do this?

You mean you are trying to make a pattern of objects that already have pattern fills?
I don´t think you can do that.
On the other hand you can easily select one tile of a pattern from an expanded pattern (double click on it with the direct selection tool), copy that and recolour artwork as you wish. Drag to palette for a new pattern.

Seamless Pattern Issue

I created a really intricate seamless pattern filled with brush strokes.
I have 2 issues:
1) I have to print the patterns on a large format printer and the printer will not print them correctly unlesss I expand them. When I expand the pattern the details get lost, lines appear thicker and it changes the design. Any ideas on how to avoid this?
2) When I am trying to pull the swatch onto the artboard to change and edit it, I can't. Not sure why....

1. Without seeing the patterns, it's hard to guess, but perhaps there is a way to simplify them. You say the pattern detail gets lost when expanding… could this be a screen issue? Have you tried rasterizing it?
2. When you attempt to edit the pattern, are you pulling the swatch out, over a raster image? Try dropping it in a blank area of the artboard.

My Offset filter not working in Cs6: Seamless pattern problems

Hi all.
Im trying to create a seamless pattern. using lots of layers.
Im going to filter/other/offset/, adding the vertical or horizontal dimensions for as 2953px (image size is 2953px x 2953px). and checking the ‘wrap around’ box.
But it’s not working & is cropping off loads of the layer, so not seamless at all.
I've tried with another layer and the same thing is happening.
I've 'revealed all' and shows nothing. I’ve tried to delete any transparent stray pixels around the layer I'm trying to wrap.
& I have also selected all & then cropped the image but it’s still happening.
I've googled till my hearts content but found no other idea on how to solve. Any ideas?
All my layers are from brushes I have created and used so lots of transparent textures. But that would be a problem if I have tried all of the above would it?

If you see on the top left and bottom left this is the "white flower copy" layer that I am trying to offset. This is a copy of the white flow with blue centre just to the left of the offset window.
You will see that the offset layer I want to wrap is missing the blue centre.

Consider sample data - one row's column from a table:
"S-S-S-P-S-B-S-S-C-S-P"
My requirement is:
I should get all the patterns that are followed by 'S'.
Example: for the above given data the patterns and counts are
SS - count is 3
SP - count is 2
SB - count is 1
SS - count is 1
There is one more condition for the above requirement:
If 'S' is followed by 'A', then 'SA' should not be considered as a pattern. The pattern should stretch until a non 'A' character is found.
Consider sample data for the above case:
"S-S-A-S-S-A-A-C-S-P-S-A"
for the above given data the patterns and counts are
SS - count is 2
SP - count is 1
SAS - count is 1
SAAC - count is 1
The data column is stored as VARCHAR2 type.

Making a repeating/seamless pattern

I need to generate a repeating/seamless background from a logo. But I am having trouble doing it due to the complexity of the placement of the pattern. Wonder if anyone could shed some light on how to make this into a repeating pattern.

I'll let the fact that the requirement is very dodgy slide for a moment. It seems that a pattern might not be the solution here; why not do something like the following:
SWEEP 1:
- scan through the code one character at a time, looking for comment blocks and comment lines.
- remove all comment blocks from the code (or rather, copy all parts that are not comments to a new buffer)
now you have code cleaned of all comments
SWEEP 2:
- scan for 'noka.device.load' and extract those pieces of code with some clever string comparisons.
Of course I don't know the why behind this requirement, but if I had to implement such a crude requirement I'd do it as simple as possible in stead of as clean as possible.

Do you want to send the new LED state whenever the two booleans change? What is the server supposed to do with the data?
(Your blinker code makes little sense, for example [i] is always less than 3 so at least one operation is meaningless. Also, the VI consumes all CPU resources when the switch is off. It is often easier if you make a clean diagram layout, not with wires going in all directions or often nowhere. Have you done any tutorials or classes?)

Need Help From a Formula Expert

If you are a brave formula expert looking for a challenge, then please read on! I'm stumped!
I use Numbers to keep track of my reading. I have a sheet for books, where one row is used for one book. I have one column to record the author, one for the title, one for the genre, one for the number of pages etc. The column on the far left is devoted to checkboxes to tell me which books I have finished. I also have one column for the start date and one for the end date. This means that, using formulas, I have set up a column to show me how many pages per day I have read of each book, by figuring out how many days it took me to read a book and then dividing the number of pages by that number of days.
What I want to do now is very complicated:
On a separate sheet, I have set up another table, which I want to tell me my average reading speed (in pages per day) for each genre. I have used the SUMIF function to do this - this function adds up all the 'Pages Per Day' values in rows where the 'Genre' values equal a certain thing (eg 'Fantasy'). I have then used the COUNTIF function to count how many fantasy books there are, so that the sum of the values will be divided by this number. This gives me the average number of pages per day, but only for the Fantasy books.
At this point, I was feeling very pleased with myself - but there is one more problem.
The sheet contains books that I have finished AND books that I have not finished yet. The books which I have finished are marked by a tick in the checkbox. I do not want books I haven't finished yet to be counted in my averages. So what I want to do is modify my formula so that it only counts values in rows where the box in the first column is ticked. I can't figure out how to do this, because the SUMIF and COUNTIF functions only allow you to put one condition in, and I need to put two conditions in - the genre and the checkbox.
In summary - I need a formula to calculate the average of the 'Pages Per Day' values, but only from rows where the genre is fantasy AND the box is ticked!
HELP!!!

There are many ways to think of this, but I think all of them require the introduction of an additional column in the first table. One way is for this new column to have 1's for the books you've finished and 0's for the books you haven't. This can be done with a formula like:
=IF(ISBLANK(EndDate),0,1)
Then, instead of using COUNTIF() in your averaging formulas, you can use SUMIF() on this new column. As such, perhaps you don't need the checkbox column any longer. This sounds redundant with the existence of an EndDate, and would save you the problem of checking and entering a date when you finished a book (and the potential for an inconsistency).
Another, perhaps more general approach, would be to have the new column have a formula like:
=IF(ISBLANK(EndDate),"", Genre)
Then SUMIF()s and COUNTIF()s can be made conditional on this new column.
In any case, if you find this artificial new column unsightly, you can hide it.

Using a two separate 6534 cards I'm trying to code-up a simple test for my UUT (memory device). I need to write a pattern into the device and read back the pattern and verify it matches the value written.

I need the simplest method of using two 6534 cards for a memory (UUT) test. I want to write (byte-wide) a pattern (A5,5A) into the UUT, then read it back and verify it matches the value written. Things that change are: Address inputs (increment by 1 for each read/write) with the control signals (card 1) and data values written/read (card 2). If I detect a mis-match, the test stops, I read the location one more time and verify it's really incorrect, the correct value is written back into the same location just read, a counter is incremented to keep track of the tota
l errors detected and the test (memory read/verify) is resumed. Each time through the memory another counter is incremented to track the number of passes through the memory read test. The test should terminate when the operator hits the VI panel STOP TEST button.

Check out chapter two of the 653x User Manual for information on the different modes of operation. There it explains the difference between strobed and unstrobed I/O as well as Pattern I/O and Handshaking. It sounds as though unstrobed should work unless your UUT requires hardware timing or handshaking. You will have to keep track of errors in software however since the 6534 does not have any counters on it.

Making a seamless pattern?

I'm working on a builder wrap design that includes an architectural rendering of a home plan, which is an EPS. The size will be 29" high x 60" wide and the design will repeat every 60". This may not even be possible, but is there anyway to create an illusion that the background is seamless or would that be too difficult to pull off without a major reworking of the artwork?

This structure has served me well. There is quite a lot to it and lots you need to infer but you should be able to work it out!
It works for EJB & swing etc (I believe)..
It doesn't use exceptions to return validation messages.

Do i need to be a technology expert in order to secure it?

Hello Everyone,
I received an offer from one of the top oil & gas employers in the gulf region. I will be responsible for server & desktop systems hardening, network security hardnening, and other IT security related tasks. One of the critical server systems that
i will be going to harden is Exchange 2010 server. I don't have much experience in Exchange except basic installation and creating couple of mailbox-enabled users. My question is, do i really need to know how the e-mail system works in order to secure it?
I mean my job is going to be a pure security job and i will not configure SMTP, POP3, connectors,..etc. The same applies to other technologies, for example, do i need to know how Lync, Hyper-V, System Center servers work first prior securing them?

I agree with you that having a strong knowledge on a specific technology will greatly help in the journey of securing it. However, in-depth understanding is not required as told by some info sec friends. For example, do you really need to know about technology's
installation software prerequisites, server roles placement, emails got stuck in the Queue, failure in the SMTP service, database maintenance, and stuff like that as a full time Exchange admin knows? Of course it will not hurt to get this knowledge but it
will hurt me in terms of time as i need to quickly focus on the security side of the equation. I don't have the time to grab an Exchange cookbook of 780 pages and read them. I already have tens of security books that i need to read and finish.
What do you think?

Needs a suggestions from an expert on Auto Lock Box!!!

I am trying to import the Receipts from the File provided by the bank and encountering the following problems :
1) I could run the 1st part of the Lockbox..which brings data into the table
AR_PAYMENTS_INTERFACE_ALL.
2) At second stage of running the Lockbox which brings data into interium tables...I am getting problems:
The errors are:
a) Origation Number not defined for Lockbox....but I defined the Lockbox number in the Lockbox form....I dont know why this problem is coming.
b)Could not continue...check for transmission errors.. What is this transimissions errors are ....when I am able to bring data into the interface table then why is it not possible for me to put that into interium tables.
Can anybody suggest some solution to comeover these problems..

I ran into another problem; I'm not sure it's related to my original one:
after the segment#'s caught up, I brought the standby in read-only mode (so I can get some row counts to compare with primary). Then I tried:
alter database recover managed standby database disconnect;
and got the error:
ORA-01093: ALTER DATABASE CLOSE only permitted with no sessions connected
Killed all user processes - to no avail. Do I need to shutdown the standby instance - is there a risk in doing so, or is there a better solution ?
