In Process Chain Activation of DSO is falling

Hello Techies,
In the Process chain the activation of DSo is falling but when I go and check the in the Manage DSo.
The Data is activated and available for reporting.
I dont know why in the Process chain the activation of DSO is falling ?

Hi
It depends on background job resource availability at the time of DSO Activaton. Also check the settings of the variant DSO Activation process for each DSO activation and make it separate with number of processes to 2 for activation.
Save the changes and activate it. Should work correctly now.

Hi,
Process chain activation becomes slow due to the following reasons.
1)Large no of entities in RSPCCHAIN Table i.e, there is lot of process chains and very large process chains.
2)There is a missing index for the RSPCCHAIN Table.
Solution for this problem is we have to create an index for the following fields of the RSPCCHAIN table.
EVENT_GREEN
EVENT_PGREEN
EVENT_RED
EVENT_PRED

Process chain Activation Variant failed

Dear Gurus
In BI7 executed a process chain,in this ods activation is in 4 th step,turned in to red,i repeated and got executed.
Questions:
1.I checked in DSO all data got activated,only in process chain showed red status....how it is possible.
2.Eventhough 4th step turned in to red,below all (5,6,7...th steps) went through,how it happened,if some variants failed means next variant should not get executed?
3.When i did repeat it thrown ABAP debugging screen,i executed and went through well,ods activation variant became green.
When i was trying to see display message,it is empty no error message.
Root cause analysis i should give...pls how and where to do the analysis.....

In the ODS Activation Process, is there any other ODSs existed for activation?

After the 4th Step, the further processes executed means, they might have put the settings as Success or failure of the predecessor process it can through the further 5th, 6th and 7th processes.
3.When i did repeat it thrown ABAP debugging screen,i executed and went through well,ods activation variant became green.
Check for short dumps ST22.

Error in process chain activation

I am learning on 3.0b,(on my pc) while using process chains, at the time of activating the process chain it is giving the following error "JOB BI_PROCESS_PSAPROCESS COULD NOT BE SCHEDULED, TERMINATION WITH RETURN CODE 8". Why am getting this error, is there anything wrong with my system or software or there any mistake in activating process chain" (what ever may be the process type i use, i am getting this error), plz help me.

Hi Ganesh,
The possible reason for that error is the User type of the background user. Please check out OSS note 511475 which talks about this problem and possible solution. I have used this earlier.

Admin cockpit - Business Content Process chain Activation failure

Hi,
we are working in Admin cockpit in sand box server.
we are activating the Business Content Process chain by taking all variants (begin with 0TCT) but we are getting the error message that Process AND has no predecessor.
Could you kindly suggest any thing to move further.

Have u collected the Source system for which ur collecting the PC when u r activating Business conent?
Collect the source system when u r activating the PC. Give a try.

New Process Chain Activation

When a new process is transported to qa or prod it has to be MANUALLY activated one time before the NEW: prefix is removed and the chain can be used by a meta chain.
Is there a configuration setting or some way to have the chain AUTOMATICALLY activated when it is transported to qa or prod?

Welcome to SDN!!
You would need to do that to enable the schedule the process chain. I did notice an OSS Note or some document which stated the settings usinh which we can avoid this. I dont have access to my documents now. Would search and post.

Process chain activation : 0 c hains were selected

Hi all
I have scheduled process chains in production.
Because one of the metachain is showing error while loading infopackage,in the production I have created a new infopackage and added it to the chian.Then activated the metachain.
But when i was trying to activate the main chain it showing message"0 chains were selected"
As a result when i scheduled the chain the old meta chain comes into picture instead of the modified chain.
ERROR MESSAGE
0 Chains Were Selected
Message no. RSPC031
Diagnosis
Specifying process chain ID 'ZN_0MATERIALATTR, type V2&', and variant '' has resulted in the selection of 0 process chains. The selection has been called without confirmation by the user. This means that the user was unable to make a selection.
System Response
The function is terminated.
Procedure
There is porbably an error in the program. Look for corresponding notes.
Please let me know how to solve this issue.

Hi harika,
Looks like the new meta chain was not in activated state....
Was the meta chain active and scheduled?
Is the meta chain running for the first time?
Also check the scheduling options how the Meta process chain is triggered?
if so , Make sure the event exist in the new meta chain. this may be causing the error.
if you had changed and created a new meta chain try to activate the new meta chain once and schedule it again and check.
Have you transported the PC or created in Production directly?
if transported from dev to prod check the log if there are any errors?

we have created 1 start process and then execute info packages and DTP'S and used 'OR' conditions to connect to Attribute change run.
while i try to save my process chain its giving warning that 'Add at least one process to the chain before saving' and when i try to activate the chain its giving below error

The process chain has no start-process. A process chain always requires exactly one general starter.
System Response
The system is unable to activate the process chain.
Procedure
Add a general starter to the chain, and schedule it as the first process in the chain.

Will you please goto process chain start varint and give the new varint for that and try to execute it once again..it will work for you...
If you could check once the check button all will be green and you can able to activate the process chain...I hope you are maintained the infoobjects in attr bute change run...problem might be with the start varint ionly...change the start varint and if you could not able to activate please let me know....

Note :

Process chains Activation

Hi,
I have transported few Process Chains(PC) from DEV -> PROD system.
I am not able to activate the same. All the PCs are in 'Not assigned' Node and are grey.
These PC were running normal in DEV.

In general, PC will in inactive status ,eventhough transports are successfully imported.
you can try to activate manually.
Ur second question is ur not ablr to activate the PC?
In production becasue of security resons cross clint will be closed, we can not activate the PC if the cross clint is closed.
Check with the basis team to open cross clint and try to activate.
This just for your info...cross clint will be open via SCC4 transaction...this is secure transaction,use care fully.

Hello Sunitha,
The DataSource has been changed or saved and it doesn't match with the BW datasource timestamp. So you have to replicate the datasource to BI and activate the transformation.

Process chain stopped and unable to trigger next process

Hi all , i am working on process chains, today process completed at DTP and the next process at activation of dso process failed and the rest of the pc completed even though the activation process is red. after the completion of that , chain process stopped, next pc didnt started. plz help me wiht this, thanks in advance..

you can evaluate a local chain as 'green' even if one of the steps is 'red'. in the planning view of the process chain, go to process chain --> attributes --> process status valuation. flag the checkbox. this will enable the next pc to start even after a red status of the local chain...

Red Outcome Renders Chain Green If Process Is Red
If errors are raised for processes that have scheduled an event "With Errors" they are judged as successful for the determination of the overall status of the chain run.
Use
If this indicator is set, all the processes in this chain with errors are judged as successful with regard to the overall status of the run, if they have scheduled a successor process "With Errors" or "Always".
Dependencies
Mailing and alerting is not affected by this indicator. This is also triggered for processes with errors if this has a successor process "With Errors".
Example
You use this indicator in meta-chains to evaluate the run of a subchain as successful in spite of errors in "unimportant" processes. The successors to this process are "always" scheduled, while the successors to key processes are only scheduled "With Success".
Accordingly, successors in the subchain within the meta-chain are only scheduled "With Success"; however they do continue to run if errors have only occurred in the unimportant processes of the subchain.

Process chain problem - urgent

my process chain is got error at update from psa,it is showing yellow.
the data has loaded into the dsos but it is not activated
how can i activate it from process chain itself because if i do manually i have to do delete index,create index and compression all.
in more chain the process is strucked at AND process,it is not displaying any message only it is displaying variant.
in both of the above cases job was cancelled
kindly suggest me how to rectify this issues

hi,
what is QM status of the the request in the dso? is the settings in dso is made such that automatic qm status green?
force the qm status to green, and this might trigger the successive process in the chain.
is the successive process is activation of DSO? if no activation process is present, you include it for the next days chain in the planning view of the chain and activate it.
if any process is failed and AND procedd is not success and does not trigger the next process then force the AND process status to green using the function module RSPC_PROCESS_FINISH.

I am runnig a process chain.one of the process is activation of DSO.it is succesful.i can see the sucees message in disply messags and manage of the dso i can see the bex symbol.but the process is in yellow for long time.and next process is in waiting..i dont have authoriation to run RSPC_PROCESS_FINISH functional module.

For your issue please check whether the overall status is green or still is in processing?
If it is green in moniter screen then we can forcebly make it as green and then proceed further.
If it is a process chain issue then its mandat to have authorization to execute RSPC_PROCESS_FINISH.

IP: Error in packaged planning sequence in process chain

Hi all,
We run a planning sequence from within a process chain. As the data transferred are quite a lot, we have packaged with setting "automatically" and with 30 packages to be built. Now the function returned (it ran already successfully before!) an error message stating:
Master cannot read return value from subprocess 2
and another error:
An error occurred with the maintenance of the query directory.
Do you have any idea what this could be?

Hi Rakesh,
It's a BASIS problem. After transport during process chain activation, the background user tries to logon with the password and if it fails the chain will not be activated. The contents will be transported though. You can manually activate the chain. You can request the Basis guys to fix this.
