In Screen Screen View what is the meaning of the '&' used in the Menu Tex

In old Siebel days (version 2000 or 6) the & was used to create a shortcut... like in the Application Menu F that could be used as Alt-F as a shortcut to the File Menu.
Now in Siebel 8, when associating a view with a screen in Screen > ScreenView this & is also used in some texts...
Pls. Anyone have figured out what is used for ? I tried several Alt-xxx but IE seems to intercept these keys...

Hi Antonio,
I think this shortcuts by ampersand (&) were not implemented in the version 7.x to forward.
But the Symbolic String was loaded version to version as being the same.
The only way to shortcut a screen, that I know, is using Command - Accelerators.

You have a router that assigns IP addresses in sequential order.
Always turn your devices on in the exact same order and you will avoid the message.
It is not a serious problem.
If your router supports DHCP reservations based on MAC address of the devices that will resolve the problem.

try resetting. Hold down volume down and sleep/wake button until you see apple logo.
If that does not work, connect it to itunes, then restore.
If none of that helps, you may need to contact apple. Has it gotten wet?

I just tested that since I hardly ever use full screen mode, this was the first time since I upgraded to Mountain Lion, and it worked fine for me.
Try shutting Safari down and see if that changes anything.
If that doesn't change anything, try shutting down and then rebooting.

MAC Voice Over: Why does the screen view lag behind the voice over audio?

When using voice over on a MAC with DE 1.8 - most times when paging thru a pdf file/book the voice and the view are inconsistent. When using VO - moving to the next page with the right arrow key - the audio starts to read the next page (correct), but the display is one page behind (not correct). For readers - especially those that have significant visual impairment - this will not work for them. Is this a defect - and if so - I would be very happy to re-test this feature if a new revision of DE 1.8 is provided.
I am unsure this is the correct forum to raise issues such as this one. I am in the process of evaluating Adobe DE 1.8 - my sister is blind and I am trying to move her to a MAC with VO. I really appreciate Adobe's effort in supporting JAWS and MAC VO - thank you on behalf of all disabled folks out there.
Below is a detailed list of steps to re-produce this audio/screen inconsistency issue.
- Install DE 1.8 and add to the dock
- Add a pdf file/book to DE 1.8. For my issue, I am adding the "Voice Over Getting Started" guide.
- Turn on Voice Over - Cmd+F5
- Using VO - Go to the dock and select DE and start it. The "Last Read Book" typically is the focus for the VO cursor. Then using VO next item (VO+right arrow) - move the VO cursor to "Library Content Table". This is the list of books that are displayed in DE.
- Using the up/down keyboard arrows - move up and down thru the books in the content list. At this point - you should already see that the VO audio announcing the title of a book is not synchronized with the row in the table that is displayed. The voice is announcing a book that you selected, but the display is showing the previous book.
- Once you hear (not see) the book you want to test with, hit <enter>. DE will open the book and start to read using VO. At this point the screen and audio for the first page in the book are the same.
- Once the book has been opened by DE - Using the right arrow key navigate to the next page in the pdf/book. Normally the right arrow key is the short cut to allow a user to move forward or backwards thru a book, one page at a time.
- With DE and VO - what happens is that VO responds to the right arrow key and starts to read the next page. But the screen is still showing the previous page. Hence the screen and the VO audio are out of sync.
- For anyone that uses MAC VO - this will prevent them from using Adobe DE 1.8.

Thanks for your information. We have tested several Mac machines, iMac and MBP (use the same version as yours). But we can't reproduce the issue. Actually working with VoiceOver is a fundamental request for our application, we did test them before releasing the build.
We suggest you test other applications, e.g. Finder, Preview and iTunes, to make sure if VoiceOver works fine with them. Or can you please check if your VoiceOver settings are correct?

Press the F11 key to toggle into and out of full screen mode.
Or, move the mouse pointer to the top of the screen and right-click the "+" (new tab) button, or in a blank area of the tab bar, or in a blank area after the address box, and exit full screen mode from the context menu.

This question is for another computer. The verizon manager window opens and says a connection exists, but Firefox spins it's connection circle, but can't seem to resolve the website on screen. What's the problem?

I tried to upgrade my verizon manager software before with a similar problem. But, somehow by deleting the new version back then, and reinstalling the original older disk version, I had restored functionality with Firefox. This time, I accepted firmware updates to the modem as well as updated Verizon's Manager interface for broadband and I'm still having the problem and can't get Firefox to work with the Verizon manager. A broadband internet connection on these computers is my only option. But how come the Mozilla connection still works with the same modem on my netbook, while no longer working on the laptop? Back up all your important data on all accounts and perform either an Archive & Install or Erase and Install, instructions here.

First, boot from your install disc and run Disk Utility in case there are errors on the startup disk.
Insert your install disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
*(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)*
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your start up disk and click Restart
While you have the Disk Utility window open, look at the bottom of the window. Where you see Capacity and Available. *Make sure there is always 10% to 15% free disk space*

Upto the first level(upto PSA) we use infopackage and from that layer onwards we use DTP's.
My question is why do we want to use DTPs there? Why cant we use infopackage only?
What is the advantage by using this DTPs for loading the data within BI
Please let me know in this regard

Hi Swami,
Although not recommended you can still use infopackages if you want in BI 7.x. The introduction of the DTP was to overcome some disadvantages of using infopackages up to and including release 3.x to load the data targets (especially with datamarts where one infopackage loads several data targets,
if something goes wrong with the load to one of these data targets then it can be very difficult to correct).
This section contains some arguments in brief why the DTP was introduced with BI 7.0 :
Transfer from one source to one target
BW 3.X
One InfoPackage / Request supplies data for several data targets
Fixed sequence of steps (DataSource / transfer rules / update rules / data target)
Fixed source type: Combination DataSource/source system
Fixed target type: Cube or ODS object or master data
No init selection for extraction from infoprovider
One request can produce several error requests, depending on the data targets
No error handling into ODS Objects
Delta management
BI 3.X: The Receiver for DataSources is merely a logical system, which makes it impossible to have a separate delta management for several data targets within

In multitrack view, What's the fastest way of moving a clip back by an exact number of milliseconds?

I want to move a clip back in time by an exact number of milliseconds (Say 30 ms), to the nearest sample.
Moving back by a known number of samples would be fine too.
What I'd like to do would be just click on the Clip Start Time (as you can the Clip Gain) and change it.... but this doesn't seem to be possible.
What's the next best thing?
I've considered putting a negative delay on the track, but that's a pain....

Provided you are zoomed in enough position the cursor at the spot where you want the clip to start (adda marker if you wish) and left click on the clip and slide to the cursor/marker. Provided Snap to Markers is activated it should end up exactly where you want.
Or you can Nudge the clip left and right by using Alt +, or Alt +. keyboard shortcuts.
Or you can Ripple Delete/Time in Selected Track from the edit menu after selecting the appropriate number of milliseconds using the Time Selection Tool on the track before the clip starts.
