a MultiValue in Web Intelligence indicates that the measures are aggregates along "multiple values" for dimensions and it is something you can configure in the report itself in the properties for the table.

Issue with "Drill" & navigation for Web Intelligence Rich client

Hello,
I have created a document by using a local Excel file in Web Intelligence Rich client tool.
1.Now I want to use "Drill" option to my document...can you please help me in this respect as I am not getting the "Analysis pane" & other standard options(for Drill) that we get for a document created from a Universe?
2.I have 4 reports in this document. I want to navigate from the first report to any other reports in the same document by clicking a button or link in the first report.Any idea how to do it?

1. have you created any hierarchy in the universe ? after creating required hierarchy, in the webi report you need to enable drill mode.
2. you can use opendocument url with sReportName parameter. Please check this doc for details: http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir3/en/xi3-1_url_reporting_opendocument_en.pdf
But for this you need to export the report to InfoView.

Doubts reg. Web Intelligence rich client.

Dear Experts,
I have seen in BOW310 Document "Web Intelligence Rich Client lets you continue to work with Web Intelligence documents (WID) when you are unable to connect to InfoView, when you want to perform calculations locally rather than on the server".
Now my Doubts are:
1. If we are not able to connect to InfoView then how will data come to WEB Rich Client in offline mode to perform the calculations?
2. Suppose Webi Rich Client is connected to the Server ie., in connected mode (not in disconnected mode) then calculations will be performed on the server or locally.

The Webi Rich Client will allow you to work in offline mode if you have connected at least once to the relevant CMS. When you connect to the CMS, your security information is stored in an LSI file. It this LSI file that decides whether you have access to open a report.
When you're in offline mode (and have appropriate rights on the CMS), you will be able to
1. Create/ refresh documents if you have the appropriate universes and db middleware on your machine.
2. Only view, edit and save documents if you do not have the universes/ middleware. I.e. you can only work with data already saved with the report.
Suppose Webi Rich Client is connected to the Server ie., in connected mode (not in disconnected mode) then calculations will be performed on the server or locally.
This depends on how the Webi Rich Client (WRC) is launched.
1. If the WRC is launched via InfoView, then the WRC uses the same session as your InfoView session (no login is required), connects to the CMS over HTTP. All calculations are performed on the server.
2. If the WRC is launched locally (i.e. from the Start Menu / an icon), then communication with the CMS occurs via the CORBA framework. Your machine needs to have the middleware to connect to the DB and calculations are performed locally (on your machine).

Hi Vegas,
The Webintelligence Rich Client (WRC) has all the features of the thin webintelligence client. But WRC makes use of the client processor and memory to do all post query processing while Infoview Webi sends every request to the server for processing.
Thus you won't find any difference between the time taken to retrieve data from the database between these two clients. But there would be huge difference in performance while doing further analysis, formatting with the data. Also you will not need connectivity to the network to do analysis and formatting using the WRC client.
WRC client will help you to just retrieve the data on the fly and let you play around with it while you are traveling with no network connectivity.

Problem with Web Intelligence Rich Client - text is cropped

Hello
I have the following problem when I use Web Intelligence Rich Client.
When I try to display a fairly long field (4000+ characters), the text gets cropped at the end of the page and at the start of the next one.

Try to choos different fonts and check if the cropping problem is resolved, or try to decrease the font size. This is problem is related to the properties of the report page layout, not with business objects. so please check the settings and u can resolve the problem

Web Intelligence Rich Client Loading time

Hi all,
Need some help.
Anyone know what's the specification requirement to use the BO XI R3.1 Client Tools example for Web Intelligence Rich Client. I have an issue from client saying that their Web Intelligence Rich Client loading too slow before they can reach the login page (not connecting to the BO Environment, just opening the Webi Rich Client program used approximately 50 seconds before they can reach the login page as they told us). Is it because of the specification issue or it's actually others factor that causing this "trouble"?

It's very interesting, becouse i have installed pathes: ENTERPRISECLNT03P_4-10007619.EXE, CRYSTALREPORTS03P_4-10007442.EXE, BOBJINTGRSAP03P_4-10007514.EXE and problem was solved. Moreover I have uninstalled JRE. New problem not have come.

Error in Web Intelligence Rich Client Test

I am taking the SAP BusinessObjects XI 3.0/3.1: Universe Design course online. Following the steps in the exercise on creating classes and objects, I received an error when testing the objects in Web Intelligence Rich Client. I created a Client Name dimrension using the format CLIENT.CLIENT_LASTNAME + ", "+CLIENT.CLIENT_FIRSTNAME in Universe Designer. When testing I came up with an error, WIS 00011
The Object(s): Client Name contain multiple attributes. This syntax is no longer supported in this version. See your Business Objects Administrator.
I followed the instructions in the exercise. Does anyone know what I did wrong?

When you write a select statement the different columns are separated by a comma, as this:
select a, b, c from table
BusinessObjects doesn't like to see that syntax (multiple columns) in a single object, so they look for a comma. It appears that in the version you are using they have broken the parsing process, and they don't realize that your comma is inside quotes and that you're not really using multiple columns.
You can fix this by using a function to return a comma character. If you are using MS Access, that function would be Chr(). The comma character is number 44, so you could try this:
CLIENT.CLIENT_LASTNAME + " " + Chr(44) + " " +CLIENT.CLIENT_FIRSTNAME
But you should know that the syntax you have works fine most of the time.

Conect Web Intelligence Rich Client

Hello Experts,
I need help.
I try to connect Web Intelligence Rich Client from one server to another server.
- When I try to do it (I wrote the name of another server in "System"), does not connect, "The central administration server is not running"
But on the server, all services are enabled and running.
- What are the other presets that I should do?

- The connection is successful by using SQL
Only with Web Intelligence Rich Client the connection has problems.

I am running a report via BOXI .net SDK but after exactly 20 minutes BoxiReportEngine.GetDocumentInformation returns the following exception: "Your Web Intelligence Rich Client session is no longer valid. (Error: RWI 00242)"
I have set my timout to 2 hours in my C# app with
BoxiConnection.TimeOut = 120 * 60;
before calling
BoxiSession = new Session(BoxiConnection);
I have set the ODBC used by the report to 600 minutes timeout. The report has no "max retrieval time". Why is this happening after 20 min? Where can I change this setting? My BOXI installation is: BOE XI 3.1 FP 2.7 Update 12.2.7.598
BTW: I have not found any official documentation of RWI 00242.

Does the Web Intelligence license includes the Web Intelligence Rich Guide usage, or it's necessary an aditional license to use WEbi Rich Client.

You shouldn't have a problem using the WebI Rich Client if you have a WebI license on the server
