Incompatiility between iPod Photo and iTunes 7.6.2.9 and vista.

I have connected 2 iPod photo with my new laptop and none of them are recognizeds by iTunes 7.6.2.9. Other iPods like my 5.5Gen 80GB and an old iPod mini 4GB and my sister's 80GB iPod classic are recognized without a hitch. I reinstalled the windows vista USB drivers for iPod and reinstalled iTunes. The 2 iPod Photo are working all right and sync OK in my desktop PC. Any advice would be very appreciated.

Does Windows see those iPod photos?

We have an old,1.2.1, iPod Photo with firewiredock for connecting to the computer; a dock to camera usb +camera reader+ cable; and an optical cable to connect the iPod to our Hi Fi.
We recently acquired a radio/cd/tape player which has a usb port and will shortly take delivery of a new TV also with a usb port. The camera reader does not have the right size of usb connection to fit the radio and therefore probably the TV.
Is there a cable which will connect the iPod dock to the Radio/TV to 1)play music and/or 2) show photos?
    Your advice would be appreciated.

Thanks Kenichi. Some more info from me :
This is what the TV Handbook says: +USB connection / PC network connection+
+Multimedia connection for instantly view or play+
+your photos or music.+ The TV is Philips 42 PFL9803H.
As I understand this you should be able to play an iPod photos and music through the TV but to go back to my original question, is there a USB cable that will do the job?
The MPMAN radio/cassete/CD player does much the same except obviously just for music. It says connect the MP3 to the USB port and play your music.
Both devices will also take a USB Stick but I do not know how you transfer music and/or photos over to a stick.
I simply want to benefit from all my work in creating libraries and sideshows in iPhoto and creating playlists of my own music in iTunes. Since everything is synced to iPod, the simplest thing seems to be to use the USB ports on the above devices. But what cable, if it exists?
I thought most new TVs and audio devices now come with USB ports to enable greater connectivity and presumably that includes Apple. Perhaps brand competition, copyright protection,or just obstructive individuals are standing in the way. Hopefully you can enlighten me further.
    All the best, Tom.

  • Questions about iPod photo and Apple Protection Plan

I have an iPod photo and an APP that expires May 2007. My
iPod's battery has permanently run out and I plan to use my APP and send it to Apple. Here are my questions:
    1. What is the best way to contact them about sending my iPod to them?
    2. Does the APP cover battery replacement?
    3. Has Apple discontinued the making of iPod photos?
    4. If so, will they still replace my battery or will they just send me a completely new iPod?

    1) You can arrange online service here.

    2) Yes.
    3) Yes.
    4) They will send a replacement iPod photo. They have stock just for this purpose.

  • Itunes, ipod, photos and cotracts not working after safari crash

My Iphone is about 2 weeks old. It was working fine until 2 days ago. I was browsing when safari crashed. I restarted safari and continued surfing. Later I went into ipod to listed to some music. The songs were on the screen but the ipod game an "unable to play" message. I shut down the iphone and started it up again. This time when I try to go into ipod it just crashes back to the spring board. when I click on Itunes it does the same thing. I clicked on photos and there no photos. turned on the camera and took a couple of Pictures. I looked at the camera roll and they showed up as just outlines of blank icons. Cicking on the icons gives an all black screen. Going out of the camera then into photos shows no pictures.
I called Tech support and was told to do a restore. I then plugged the Iphone into the dock and was not recognized by itunes. Interestingly Iphoto does recognize it but not itunes.
I am baffled at this point.

By any chance did you buy any music from the iTunes wifi store before this happened? I am having problem that sounds similar; but in my case the iPod function shows "no content", and all photos are gone; but notes, calendar and contacts are intact. I also cannot get iTunes to recognize my iPhone to do a sync or restore.

  • Sorting between Ipod songs and Itunes songs

I cant figure this out; Is there a way to seperate between the songs on your ipod and the songs in your itunes? I have A LOT of songs in my iTunes and its impossible to look through whats on it and whats not. Any easier ways? Thanks!

    Harry,
You can have your iPod sync automatically either with your entire library or specific play-lists. If your library is too large to fit on an iPod, create a (smart)Playlist with the songs you want.
Or you can manually update your iPod, but the songs must be in your iTunes library for them to be on the iPod.
All of this can be configured under the "Music" tab in the iPod section of iTunes (Left hand column : Devices : iPod : Music "tab" )

Physically on my iPod it says I have 19 episodes of a podcasts but when i look on my device in iTunes, it only shows that i have 11 episodes. Here are screen shots of my iPod Touch and iTunes

Have you downloaded the additonal (or any) episodes directly onto your Touch using Wi-Fi? If so, have you Synced your iPod with your iTunes since then and what options have you set for Podcasts? (When the iPod is connected to your iTunes, look on the Device/Podcasts pane to see the settings.)

    Hello penel2907,
This could be due to a hardware issue. You may try using a different USB port on your computer.
    Check for hardware issues

Try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good. Also, confirm your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers. If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.

  • IPod Photo 60GB + iTunes 7.0.2 = Misery

Well, what a miserable day here. I have three iPods, a nano, a 4th Gen 60 GB Photo, and a 1st Gen Shuffle. None of them will synch properly with the Intel iMac. I have the symptoms reported by others - inside iTunes, the iPods cannot be updated or restored, when synched, iTunes complains that some songs are too old and cannot be copied. (Any song purchased from ITMS). Incorrect version numbers are reported by the iTunes iPod summary panel.
By using my iBook, and I can confirm that each of the iPods are fine, the cables are fine, and are able to operate properly. Whatever the problem, its clearly inside the software on the iMac - something likely deep in the bowels of iTunes.
Since my iBook has a 20 GB drive, and I've got about 60 GB of music, just using the iBook until this gets sorted out isn't a reasonable option. I've tried reinstalling iTunes, zapping the kext extension, reinstalling the Combo updater, and various other resets, restores, check disks, and so on, without success.
My question is, where do I go from here? There appears to be no public recognition of the problem, nor a properly sanctioned way to revert to iTunes 6. Has anyone else managed for force restore and synch on a Mac where the original symptoms were as described above?
I would appreciate gratefully any suggestions on what to do next.
    Thanks!
    Bob

    Solution: Archive and Install
Last night I posted a note describing the problems I encountered as a result of iTunes 7.0.2 essentially wiping out my iPods, then failing to restore them properly. I recovered the iPods using a second computer, but while the iMac could see them, it refused to move any of the protected AAC files onto the iPod.
The solution was that troubleshooting good for what ails you cure, Archive and Install with preserve users on.
First, I disconnected all the iPods.
Then I used the original install DVD to perform archive and install. I turned off a bunch of stuff I didn't need, focusing on the core OS files.
On reboot, I ran the 10.4.8 Combo update which I had downloaded earlier.
On the next reboot, Software Update installed Java, QuickTime, and X11 updates.
On the next reboot, I launched iTunes. Everything appeared to work normally. The authorizations were intact.
I installed the Shuffle, which was recognized at once. I used Erase and Sync to pair it with the iMac. I repeated the same process with the iPod Photo.
My guess about the original problem is that iTunes 7 exposed a longstanding problem which was caused when I used Migration Assistant to move the contents of my previous G5 iMac to Intel.
Alls well that ends well. I'm posting this note in the hope that it will help someone else in the same situation.

  • Sync iPod Photo with iTunes 10.x

    Hello my friends!
I'm using SL and iTunes 10. I found my old iPod Photo with it's 30GB hdd.
I tried to hook it up to my iMac and sync but iTunes doesn't reconize the iPod.
Is the support for old iPods dropped or is there another reason I can't sync it?
    Thanks!

I would like to sync my "touch" with iTunes via Bluetooth. This would eliminate the need to plug in the USB cable each time I carry out this activity. Can someone explain to me why Apple has decided not to implement this? Will the next release of iTunes support this? Or, does it require some kind of a third part app to do this?
it's currently not possible. bluetooth on the Touch supports headsets only.
as for the future, only Apple knows.

  • Ipod photo freezes itunes

    He All,
My iPod Photo (40 GB, circa 2004) still works, but now that I've been forced to upgrade itunes, I get the wheel of death once I click on the ipod from within itunes. This makes me unable to change anything on the ipod, including clicking the "restore ipod" icon. The wheel just spins and spins and spins until I force quit. Suggestions? Recommendations? Any direction in which anyone can point me?

Try moving the iPod cache to the Trash.

You've tried Force Quit from the Apple  menu drop down menu?

    Hello all!
As the owner of all three of the above devices, I wonder sometimes what is the best way to split music between them. I have my entire library on my iPod classic but wonder how I should split things between my iPad and iPhone...Any advice?

You can sync whatever you like to each device.

  • What are the differences between iPod 2nd and 3rd Generation models?

    Hi:
I have a couple questions about the differences between some of the iPod Touch models:
    1) What is the difference between the *2nd Gen 8GB iPod touch* and the *3rd Gen 8GB iPod touch?*
    2) What are the differences among the *3rd Gen iPod Touch 8GB* model and the *32 GB and 64 GB models* (other than the memory differences)?
    Thanks!

    none, really.

the 32 & 64 GB models have advanced hardware components. 32GB and 64GB Touches gain 3GS specs - roughly 2x faster, with more advanced 3D graphics for games that capitalize on OpenGL 2.0 - and features like Voice Control.
