Incorrect defined log. table source- 2 differen fact tables but same source

Hi Guys,
I have been struggling with this error for a while and searching this forum led me to a few posts but people seem to have a different setup such
as with Dimension tables or joining multiple facts).
My issue is that I can not even select two column from one and the same fact table.
[[screen print of issue]|www.metallon.org/test/Incorrect_source.jpg]
Thanks,
metalray
note: Total is just a calulated/derived logical colum such as A+3

Total is calculated and the calculation takes values from a DIFFERENT fact tables BUT those fact tables have the same PHYSICAL source.
so yes, there is no link between the facts but they are the same physical source anyway.....hm

  • How to force BI Server to pick from the Agg table and not the Fact table?

    Hi All,
I have 3 tables as the Sources in the Key measures. 2 are fact tables and the other one is the agg table.
    E.g.
    Fact 1 at A,B,C,D and E level
    Fact 2 at A,B,C level
Agg at A,B,C level which contains the measures from the Fact1 and Fact2
So when I select the measures from the Agg which are coming from Fact1 the Agg table get fired and when I select measures from Agg which are coming from Fact2, the Fact2 table gets fired in the SQL Query.
Now my question here is there anyway to tell BI Server that when I select Fact2 measures fire the Agg table and not the Fact2 table. The reason being the Agg and Fact2 tables are at the same level.
But I need to keep the Agg table as it is one level higher than the Fact1 tables.
    Any pointers would be helpful.

    hi,
you explain us your situation really good.but you forgot to tell us the most import, the measures in aggregate table and the aggregated dimensions.
meaning, you have 7 measures aggregated in some levels of your dimensions tables?if yes, there is no possibility Bi goes anywhere else..(by choosing only these measures and the defined levels at your dimensions..)
One more thing,if you choose a combination of your 2 fact data sources,bi goes?where???
    hope i helped...

  • OBIEE-can we link two dimension tables belonging to different fact tables?

    Hi ,
I have just started with OBIEE concepts....need your views on this issue:
    Fact 1 -> Dim 1, Dim2,Dim3 and so on..
Fact 2 -> Dim a, Dim b,Dimc and so on...
If I link Dim1 and Dim a with a valid key ,would that distort the star schemas to slowflake in BMM layer?
    Thanks in advance!
    Neha

I don't see this that would make it snowflake more like what I think as conforming dimensions. You need to make sure the grain of the measures is at what level , the they are same grain then you should be good however if they are different then you would start seeing null values.
Fact Measures use the same, conformed dimensions like Dim1 and Dim a if you trying to generate from multiple facts, the BI server was able to automatically stitch them together into a single result set. If they came from the same fact table that's easy as its only one single table, but if you are pulling from different fact tables, the conformed dimensions would allow them to be stitched into the same report
Conformance means that these sources can be mapped to a common structure – the same levels – and also the same data members.
    Mark if helps.
    Thanks,

  • Dimension table is added as Fact table

    OBIEE 11.1.1.5
I have a table that I am importing into the BMM as a dimesion table. Each time I try and join the existing fact to this dimension table in the BMM it recognizes the dimension as a fact table. How can I add this table as a dimension.

    Hi,
Define a primary key in dimension table and establish the join between fact and dimension table in both physical and BMM layer.Better to use physical join in both the layers.
    mark if helpful/correct...

  • How do I use Derived Table to dynamically choose fact table

How do I use the Derived Table functionality to dynamically choose a fact table?
I am using BO XI R2 querying against Genesys Datamart kept in Oracle 10g.  The datamart contains aggregated fact tables at different levels (no_agg, hour, day, week, etc...) I would like to build my universe so that if the end user chooses a parameter to view reports at daily granularity, then the daily fact table is used;  choose hourly granularity, then hourly fact table is used, etc....
I tried using dynamic SQL in Oracle Syntax, but Business Obljects Universe didn't like that type of coding.
The tables look something like this:
    O_LOB1_NO_AGG o
    inner join V_LOB1_NO_AGG v on o.object_id = v.object_id
    inner join T_LOB1_NO_AGG t on v.timekey = t.timekey
Likewise, in the 'hour', 'day', 'week', etc... fact tables, the Primary Key to Foreign Key names and relationships are the same.  And the columns in each O_, V_, T_ fact table is the same, or very similar (just aggregated at different levels of time).
I was thinking of going a different route and using aggregate aware; but there are many Lines of Business (20+) and multiple time dimensions (7) and I believe aggregate aware would require me to place all relevant tables in the Universe as separate objects, which would create a large Universe with multiple table objects,  and not be maintenance-friendly. I also was going to dynamically choose Line of Business (LOB) in the derived tables, based on the end user choosing a parameter for LOB, but that is out-of-scope for my current question.  But that information sort of points you down the train of thought I am travelling. Thanks for any help you can provide!

You can create a derived table containing a union like the following:
select a,b,c from DailyFacts where (@prompt('View'....) = 'Daily' and (<rest of your where conditions here if necessary>)
    union
(select a,b,c from MonthlyFacts where (@prompt('View'....) = 'Monthly' and (<rest of your where conditions here if necessary>))
    union
(select a,b,c from YearlyFacts where (@prompt('View'....) = 'Yearly' and (<rest of your where conditions here if necessary>))
I assume that you are familiar with the @prompt syntax

  • Dimension Table Attributes giving No Fact Table Exists Error

    Hi Experts,
My OBIEE version is 11.1.1.6.10. There is a presentation table which has columns coming from multiple logical tables. I'm dragging 2 columns into the report which are coming from 2 logical tables.
The result is displaying. When I checked the query, a fact table is also coming and results are getting effected because of this.
Could anybody let me know if any idea.

    Hi SriramKarthik,
Aj (bi007) already gave you the answer on how you can change the implicit fact table, the one you are seeing in your physical query.
I'm just not sure of what is your question: are you surprised to see a fact table is used in the physical SQL and look for a way to avoid it because, as you say, results are impacted by that implicit fact table? You can't get rid of that table, you can only choose it (the implicit one).
OBIEE must join in a way or another your 2 dimensions, and in your BMM these dimensions are joined by a fact table, that's why you see it in your query.

  • Rptcurrency in WB table, fac2 tabke and fact table

I loaded a data by using a transformation file with the following logic for reptcurrency
    RPTCURRENCY= *newcol(LC)
The data was successfully loaded, then I check the WB table, fac2 table and fact table respectively, I notice the following:
In WB table,          rptcurreny    ....     signeddata
                                   LC                         5000
In Fac2 table     rptcurreny    ....     signeddata
                                 USD                         5000
                                 EURO                     5000
In fact table          rptcurreny    ....     signeddata
                                 USD                        5000
                                 EURO                     5000
                                 LC                          5000
I have USD,EURO and LC in the rptcurrency,USD and EURO's reporting property value as 'Y'. looks like when the system load the  LC data, it copy the LC data to USD and EURO, but for me it not make scence the same  value with different currency.
    Anybody can explain this?

    JW,
Please check your default.LGF formula at Admin console.
Default.LGF is called 'DEFAULT' which means it will be called whenever user posts their data to server.
If default.LGF includes baisc currency translation statement, it will convert value behind the scene
Of course, user can execute it again through Data manager later.

  • NQSError 15018 Incorrectly defined logical table source  error

    Hi,
I am getting the following error when I am building one of my reports.
I have 3 dimensions - Time, customer and Product and two facts F1 and F2. Both F1 and F2 are joined to all three dimensions
The part I dont understand is that when I built a report with columns from all 3 dimensions and 2 facts it worked fine. But as soon as I added a new column from the customer dimension I am getting the below error. When I remove this specific column the report works fine.
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 15018] Incorrectly defined logical table source (for fact table F1) does not contain mapping for [Time.Mth_name, Time.Year]. (HY000)
Please help me figure out the issue.

    Hello All,
I am also getting the same error.
I have one dim table d1 and 2 fact tables f1 and f2.
f1 contains 5 columns and f2 contains 2 columns. I created a logical table source between f1 and f2. Column mapping is done between f1.agency_no and f2.agency_no.
    Columns in f1 : agency_no, agency_name,source, proj#, proj_phase
    Columns in f2: agency_no, manager
    Columns in d1: agency_no, agency_shortname, agency_name
Now, when i select f1.agency_no and f2.agency_no in the report. It is working fine, because the column mapping is defined between these 2 columns.
When i drag f2.manager into the report (report contains f1.agency_no, f2.agency_no, f2.manager) i am getting the following error.
[nQSError: 15018] Incorrectly defined logical table source (for fact table f2) does not contain mapping for [f1.agency_no]. (HY000)
Please help me out with this issue.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Consistency Warning - [39008] Dimension Table not joined to Fact Source

I have a schema in which I have the following tables:
    A) Patient Transaction Fact Table (i.e. supplies used, procedures performed, etc.)
    B) Demographic Dimension table (houses info like patient location code)
    C) Location Dimension table (tells me what Hospital each unique Location maps to)
So table A is the fact, and table B is a dimension table joined to table A based on Patient ID, so I can get general info on the patient. This would allow me to apply logic to just see patient transactions where the patient was FEMALE, or was in the Emergency Room, by applying conditions to these fields in table B.
Table C is a simple lookup table joined to table B by Location Code, so I can identify which hospital's emergency room the patient was located in for instance.
So the schema is: A<---B<---C, where B and C are both dimension tables.
The query works as desired, but my consistency check gives me the following WARNING:
*[39008] Logical dimension table LOCATION MASTER D has a source LOCATION MASTER D that does not join to any fact source.*
How do I resolve this WARNING, or at least suppress it?

    Hi,
What you need to do is to add the (physical) location dimension table to the logical table source of the demographic dimension, for example by dragging it from physical layer on top of logical table source of demographic logical dimension table in bmm layer

  • Issue using one 2 Fact tables with one dimension Table.

    Hi,
    I have 1 Dimension table X and 2 Fact tables A and B
X is joined to Both A and B for Loan Amount ( with A) and for colleatral amount (with B) when I am selecting the X.Product_Name, A.Loan_Amt, B.Collateral Amount, it is giving an error message
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 15018] Incorrectly defined logical table source (for fact table EIP Collateral FACT) does not contain mapping for [EIP Reporting FACT.PD ID]. (HY000)
    Any clues???
Is there a Inner or Outer join which needs to be created or set in the RPD to get the desired results???

    Ok..
I have one table which is Porfolio Details which has Portfolio name, Product Category , Product Name, Product ID, Product sources code.- This is my Dimension table.
I have another 2 set of fact tables : EIP Reporting FACT and EIP Collateral FACT..
These two tables are joined to Portfolio Details table.
EIP Reprting FACT gives portfolio wise Loan Amount
and EIP Collateral FACT gives Portfolio wise Collateral Amount details for same set of customer..
Now, I am selecting Portfolio Name, Product Category, Product Name,SUM( EIP Reporting FACT.LOAN_AMOUNT), SUM(EIP Collaetral FACT.Collateral_Amt) in a report
Now, on selecting these columns I am getting that error message which is related to mapping.
If I take any column from Portfolio details table and any column from EIP Reporting FACT- It works.
If I take any column from Portfolio details table and any column from EIP Colletral FACT- It works.
But if I take any column from portfolio table and columns from both FACT tables it gives mapping error...
Hope I am able to explain the issue in a better way now..

  • Distinct count for multiple fact tables in the same cube

I'm fairly new to working with SSAS, but have been working with DW environments for many years.
I have a cube which has 4 fact tables.  The central fact table is Encounter and then I also have Visit, Procedure and Medication.  Visit, Procedure and Medication all join to Encounter on Encounter Key.  The relationship between Encounter
and Procedure and Encounter and Medication are both an optional 1 to 1.  The relationship between Encounter and Visit is an optional 1 to many.
Each of the fact tables join to the Patient dimension on the Patient Key.  The users are looking for a distinct count of patients in all 4 fact tables.
What is the best way to accomplish this so that my cube does not talk all day to process?  Please let me know if you need any more information about my cube in order to answer this.
    Thanks for the help,
    Andy

    Hi Andy,
Each distinct count measure cause an ORDER BY clause in the SELECT sent to the relational data source during processing. In SSAS 2005 or later, it creates a new measure group for each distinct count measure(it's a technique strategy for improving perormance).
Besides, please take a look at the following distinct count optimization techniques:
    Create Customized Aggregations
    Define a Processing Plan
    Create Partitions of Equal Size
Use Partitions Comprised of a Distinct Range of Integers
Distribute the Hash of Your UserIDs
    Modulo Function
    Hash Function
    Choose a Partitioning Strategy

  • NQSError: 14020  : Fact Table Incompatible with Query Request

    Hi All,
I am trying to add a new join to existing fact and dimension tables.
These tables are already part of some star schemas.
Now when I add the join , RPD doesn't show any consistency errors/warnings but when I create an analysis in OBIEE 11g, Measure from fact shows only null.
When I looked at the log, the physical query just has a select statement querying the dimension table and following message :
"COUNT converted to NULL because [nQSError: 14020] None of the fact tables are compatible with the query request COUNT:[DAggr(CF_FACT1.COUNT by [ CD_DATE_4.DATE_KEY.. "
Has anyone encountered similar problem ?
Few threads spoke about settign the content level but its not set for any date dimension we are using but it still works. Facing this problem only for the new join I am trying to add now.
    Thanks for any pointers

Back up your repository before following these steps:
1 Reduce the problem report to minimum number of columns required to generate the error. This will usually identify which dimension and which fact are incompatible.
2 Open the repository in the Administration tool and verify that the dimension and fact table join at the physical layer of the repository
3 Verify that there is a complex join between the dimension and the fact in the business layer.
4 Check the logical table sources for the fact table. At least one of them must have the Content tab set to a level in the hierarchy that represents the problem dimension. This is usually the detailed level.
5 Check the logical table source Content tab for the dimension table. Unless there is a valid reason, this should be set to blank.
    6. Save any changes to the repository.

  • "Select" Physical table as LTS for a Fact table

    Hi,
I am very new to OBIEE, still in the learning phase.
    Scenario 1:
I have a "Select" Physical table which is joined (inner join) to a Fact table in the Physical layer. I have other dimensions joined to this fact table.
In BMM, I created a logical table for the fact table with 2 Logical Table Sources (the fact table & the select physical table). No errors in the consistency check.
When I create an analysis with columns from the fact table and the select table, I don't see any data for the select table column.
    Scenario 2:
In this scenario, I created an inner join between "Select" physical table and a Dimension table instead of the Fact table.
In BMM, I created a logical table for the dimension table with 2 Logical Table Sources (the dimension table & the select physical table). No errors in the consistency check.
When I create an analysis with columns from the dimension table and the select table, I see data for all the columns.
What am I missing here? Why is it not working in first scenario?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    SP

    Hi,
If I understand your description correctly, then your materialized view skips some dimensions (infrequent ones). However, when you reference these skipped dimensions in filters, the queries are hitting the materialized view and failing as these values do not exist. In this case, you could resolve it as follows
    1. Create dimensional hierarchies for all dimensions.
    2. In the fact table's logical sources set the content tabs properly. (Yes, I think this is it).
When you skipped some dimensions, the grain of the new fact source (the materialized view in this case) is changed. For example:
Say a fact is available with the keys for Product, Customer, Promotion dimensions. The grain for this is Product * Customer * Promotion
Say another fact is available with the keys for Product, Customer. The grain for this is Product * Customer (In fact, I would say it is Product * Customer * Promotion Total).
So in the second case, the grain of the table is changed. So setting appropriate content levels for these sources would automatically switch the sources.
So, I request you to try these settings and let me know if it works.
    Thank you,
    Dhar

  • Fact Tables not dispalying

    Hi
The Fact tables are not displaying on my excel sheet even though they are in the Power Pivot data.
    Thanks

if all collumns in your fact table are of type 'number' (which is probably the case) and you did not define any measures for the fact table, then the fact table will indeed not show up in excel.
Create a measure for the fact table (something like total amount:=calculate(sum('fact table'[amount]))) and the fact table (with the measure) will show up in excel.
