InDesign 5.5 Animation rotation

I'm using the animation tool in InDesign to animate a watch.
I have a second hand that I want to go half way around the face of the clock but I cannot stop the animation from easing in and out. Even when I select 'Speed None' it still speeds up and the start and slows down at the end, as you can expect this isn't very realistic.
Has anyone had any experience in this?

You'll probably need to update both the Folio Builder panel and Folio Producer tools.
Before proceeding, it'll be a good idea to ensure that InDesign is updated. Choose Help > Updates.
Download and install Folio producer Tools. Mac OS: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5305 | Win : http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5303
Download and install Folio Builder panel: Mac OS http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5153 | Win: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5155
Let us know if it works.

  • Anyone using InDesign 5.5 animation for iBook development?

I am working on children's full page illustration stories of about 12 pages each. I am able to animate small elements (like illustrations of insects) across background illustrations using InDesign 5.5.
Everything looks good in the Anmation Preview screen within InDesign. The animations can export as Flash swf files and I have found a tedieous methodolgy of re-importing each back into the InDesign document, then exporting the whole document as a PDF where they are supposed to display the embeded animations. Anyone tried this method or found a better way to animate either a PDF or iBook from inDesign?

    Hi Jason,
AFAIR this warning was being issued when the same reference
to a composite PK object was used to find beans. Something like
    MyPK pk = new MyPK();
    for (int index = 0; index < counter; index++) {
    pk.setID(index);
    MyRemote remote = myHome.findByPrimaryKey(pk);
Generally it's good idea to have PK object immutable (no setters).
    Hope this helps.

  • Animation / Rotation Problem

    Hello!
I have a vrml -file imported in java3d. This still works. I also can pick

Now I will rotate one object, called "Flagge"

    Here is what I`ve done:
Pointer + Red Circle is a movieclip called Watch
inside Watch is the situation exemplified on the image above.
As you can see the anchor (I mean the white ball being pointed to) is in the center from the circle. If i rotate the the watch pointer on flash editin mode, it does turn around it. But when testing my video, which increments the rotation property of the watch pointer, it is turning around a center located somewhere  up in the left side.
I really have no idea to why this is happening.
    Thanks again,

  • InDesign CS6 Interaktiv: Animation und "Gehe zu Ziel" automatisch nacheinander?

    Hallo zusammen!
    Bennet S.

  • InDesign DPS: Simple animation does not work in folio?

I'm building a simple recipe app using InDesign CS6, using the Digital Publishing tools.
On one page I applied an animation, "fly in from bottom" to an object.
When I eventually build the folio and view it on my ipad with the Adobe Content Viewer, the animation does not work on that page.
I've watched a couple tutorials on how to use the animation tools, how to set the path, etc. but none of them mention any other steps for getting the animation to work once you build the folio.
    Am I missing something?
    Thanks!
    Bruce

Okay, I'm gonna try helping out on this....  I don't think layers have any effect on this, or at least I haven't noticed they do, the just help keep you organized and maybe for arrangment...
    So....
You can just lock the background, it isn't involved, it is just the background.
    1. Make your button to open/start the sequence and make your finished state and an empty box.  In this case the button the button is just a text frame.  The finished state is a shape, text frame and two lines grouped (to make an "x" for the close button).  In your case it will be your image sequence and the button to close it.  Have all the elements of the finished state grouped.
    2. Select both groups.  In the object states panel, hit the new button.  you should now have a multistate object with two states.  One empty state and one state with your sequence, etc..
    3. Now select your open button.  In the button panel, choose the add action button "+" and choose Got to State (or go to next state) and make sure the object is the multistate object you just created.  For the state, choose the state with your sequence.
    4. Now select your multistate object.  In the object states panel choose the state with your image sequence and close button.  Select your close button.  Go to the buttons panel and add an action to go back to the empty state.
Test it out, it should work fine now.  I don't have an image sequence handy, but you may have to mess with the autoplay settings, etc.  but it should work just fine.
Notes of interest:  As buttons display only as raster on an iPad, I find it best to make a clear button on top of the button graphic.  That way the button can be vector. and the clear box becomes raster.
I really, really reccomend watching some of the videos on Adobe TV, they explain and review a bunch of this.  Also, there is an app called DPS Tips App by Bob Bringhurst for free on the Apple Store, he explains all the goodies quite well.  You can also use Wallaby to convert indesign animation to flash and then HTML5, but that gets more complicated and it can also have a load delay. Good Luck!

  • Indesign CS5: Grow Animation

I've only recently started using Indesign and have found to be remarkably intuitive however I have come across a problem. I've put a number of pictures on a page and sized them down so that they fit. In order so that they can be viewed properly, I applied a grow animation that is activated/deactived by rolling on/off the image, however I have found they have greatly reduced quality when they grow. Does anyone know of way that I can keep the pictures small but maintain their quality when they grow? I'm at my wit's end!

No, the file itself is a .psd that I'm simply placing into indesign. How would I go about turning it into a SWF file and exporting it? Sorry if I appear ignorant.

  • Export indesign with html animation

    Hello everyone,
I'm trying to include or link an html animation I've realised with Edge in an Indesign presentation.
I tried to create a button that links to the html file, and export it as an interactive pdf, but then it will work on my pc only..... do you know how I can solve this issue?
Ideally I'd like to see the animation within the pdf (now it will open in the browser), but most importantly I need to be able to share the whole package!
Any solution will be really welcome!
    Many thanks
    M.

Your best bet would be to host the file on a web server and link to it there. If you don't have access to such space, free hosting isn't that hard to find. Google "free file hosting."

  • Indesign and output of .oam animations

Hello, I am trying to make a large vertical document in indesign with .oam animations that I have created in edge. I cannot figure how to get them to work once I output the final piece. I am just learning about digital publishing so I apologize if this question is obvious or has been answered.

    Back to InDesign forum.
OAM will not work in PDF. It will work in EPUB and DPS only.
You really need to get to the basics of exactly what you want and exactly what each format is capable of. It's a topic that is way too lengthy to discuss here but you can start by reading this: http://indesignsecrets.com/difference-epub-dps-pdf.php

  • Fast user switching animation not working on new iMac with 10.9.1

I have a late 2013 iMac with the GeForce GTX 780M, pre-installed with 10.9 and then immediately updated to 10.9.1 out of the box.
I imported my adminstrator account from an older iMac with Mountain Lion, using Migration Assistant. No problems experienced there whatsoever. I then separately imported a second user account from the same Mountain Lion install. Both accounts are functioning normally.
However, when I switch between these accounts, the fast user switching animation (rotating cube) does not occur - it just instantly switches screens, without even a fade in/out effect.
I made sure the display settings on each account are identical down to the last detail, even the same color sync profiles. I also created a fresh 'test' user account with default Mavericks settings, yet switching to that from either of the imported accounts does not have the animation either.
Any suggestions on how to trouble-shoot this? I have 'Googled' it, but all the refrences are from earlier version of OS X from 2003-2009 and mention things like not having enough graphical processing power - obviously not an issue here.

I tried (on both user accounts):
    1. Flushing all the caches using Onyx
    2. Deleting the 'com.apple.desktop.plist' files.
    3. Switching each user account to non-standard resolutions and back again.
The lack of the rotating cube effect is not the worst of it, as about 50% of the time I switch accounts I get an 'empty' desktop in the account I have just switched to, and I can only get the desktop icons to appear again by switching back and forth a few times. Extremely frustrating.
I am starting to think this is yet another bug in Mavericks or a problem with the graphic drivers for the new GTX 775 / 780 cards.

  • Exporting to a .swf or .fla from InDesign CS6 - issues with timeline when opened in Flash.

    Hello,
Looking for help with exporting files for Flash. I have tried both .swf and fla exports from InDesign for the animations I have created. The .swf file will play fine in Flash player but I am having no luck using the .swf or .fla file in Flash. The .fla file will open in Flash but there is no time-line. I can import the .swf file into Flash, but again there is no timeline - all the graphics and elements are visible in the library.
    - Is there a particular way the file(s) have to be exported from InDesign in order for them to appear with a time line in Flash?
    - Are there particular do's and dont's when it comes to creating InDesign files that are going to be used as Flash animation?
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Jamie

The page turning animations in an exported swf are accomplished via ActionScript—they are not timeline based tween animations. You might be able to decompile the swf and get to the code, but I've never tried it. Google SWF decompiler.
When you export to fla the animation ActionScript code is not included, so you lose the page turn animations. Each spread is saved as a MovieClip and the clips appear on sequential keyframes of the root timeline. With an fla it's up to you to write any animation code.

  • InDesign CS5 interactive PDF export not functioning

Hey guys, I have been starting to work with some interactive designs within InDesign CS5, mainly animations (menu fly out on mouse over, moving object on page load) . However each time I have exported my work as an interactive PDF, nothing functions, it all appears as static images. I have tried viewing in Acrobat XI, Adobe Reader, Safari.. all with the same result.
I have used the preview function to review that animation is working properly before exporting and every works flawless, it just doesn't export any of this. I have tried editing a new PDF preset and exporting that way. I have tried both "Interactive" and "Interactive for PDF" modes as well, in case that matters. I have had absolutely no luck and hope someone can find something I must have missed? Thanks for the help on this!

Animations are not supported natively in PDF files... Preview shows you just a Flash/SWF preview, not PDF preview.
Only way to use animations in PDF files is to create Flash/SWF file which includes animation(s), place that SWF to InDesign and export Interactive PDF after that.
And it´s just a work-around, not very good one IMO.... I don´t believe you can do animated menus with that technique....

  • Can you apply the Rotate Spreads Feature?

    Hello,
    Hope someone can help me...
In Indesign CS5 you can rotate the spreads and this then gives you the arrow icon next to the spread to indicate that it's a rotated view; what i'm trying to do is apply that rotated spread so it's not just the view, it is actually how the document is - is this possible? and if so how??
(what i'm trying to do is turn the last 100pages (50 spreads) of a 200page book upside down without having to re-layout all the artwork etc)
    Hope someone can help?!
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Thanks for the info - my plan (for this one) is to order the pages as needed and rotate afterwards in acrobat; it's what i was going to do before i thought, can you apply rotations!? It isn't ideal as there's a slight offset needed for the bleeds and alignment so the hanging points etc will differ in the 2 setions (it won't really be noticeable but I'm one of those fussy designers!) and i was going to use it as a template for some other work I'm doing but it's no problem - just wont change my mind next time. It was more a question of can it be done as I think it'd be useful.
    Thanks for all the advice

  • How Do I Rotate Content, Not the Frame

    I am in InDesign CS1.
I need to figure out how to affect the content of a placed image, not the surrounding frame. I know how to set the rotation angle of the selected object's frame:
set rotation angle of selection to 10
But for the life of me, I cannot understand how to leave the frame as it is and just rotate the content. I.E., normally, if I grab the direct selection tool and click an image (hovering over the image inside the frame turns to the hand tool), I can then manipulate the content without affecting the outside frame. But I want to do this with an AppleScript.
I also assume that if someone can open this door for me, it will then lead the way to being able to scale the content, without affecting the frame. But I cannot figure out the secret of "content" vs. "selection". Halp!
    Thank you!

Your definitions are what I would expect, but for me, applying each version as one of these two separate scripts:
    1)
    tell application "InDesign CS"
    activate
set rotation angle of selection to 10
    end tell
    2)
    tell application "InDesign CS"
    activate
set absolute rotation angle of selection to 10
    end tell
Gives me the same result. The frame rotates and the content rotates with it.
Let me start over with my problem as that may help...
So let's say I have a frame and it has rotation 0˚. Inside the frame I have an object rotated to 5˚.
Applying either of those two scripts has the same result. The frame rotates to 10˚ and the content (when selected with the direct selection tool) now shows a rotation of 15˚.
But what I want is for the frame to stay at 0˚ and the content (when selected with the direct selection tool) to show a rotation of 15˚.
I am thinking this may be relates to the "Transform Content" and "Transformations Are Totals" preference settings. Both of which I have turned on. I know how to turn them on and off with an AppleScript, but it doesn't seem to be helping.

  • Rotate a circle based on UITouch

    Ok.
I'm racking my brain on this one.
Onscreen I have an object (UIImageView) that I want to be able to rotate with my finger. Basically touch it and move my finger around and have it rotate on it's center to follow my finger.
Rotating the image is no big deal, I give it the radial that I want it to rotate on(0-360) and it aligns itself nicely.
    CGAffineTransform imgObjectRot = CGAffineTransformMakeRotation(radians(90));
    [imgObject setTransform:imgObjectRot];
    static inline float radians (double degrees) {
    return degrees * M_PI/180;
My problem is when I incorporate the touch. I can't figure out a way of finding the angle from the center of the image to the touch location.
Should be a simple formula based on x1,y1 and x2,y2. In fact I found some examples but the math is pretty complicated - and the iPhone doesn't seem to have the built in math functions like ATAN.
Anyhow, there must be some easier / built in way that I'm missing.
I don't know if it makes sense to find the degrees between the two locations or if I can "attach" the touch location to the image object and follow it with some built in commands.
    Any ideas?

I'm a n00b have a knob as well, and have no problem with a simple CGAffineTransformMakeRotation(RotationInRadians) being called after a swipe gesture.
I image you are using the ATAN function and the distance between touch down and touch up hortizontally to "scale" the rotation of the knob. I haven't gotten there yet...
My issue is this: I have a processRightSwipe rotation (CGAffineTransformMakeRotation) with positive radians, and a processLeftSwipe with negative radians.
I animate the rotation, but when the animation is completed and I swipe the other direction, instead of returning to the original knob position, it treats the "zero angle" as the position and rotates to an undesired position in the opposite direction. Not sure how to get the knob (representing 'volume' levels in a game) to 'increase' or 'decrease' by the desired 36 degrees 'notches' with each swipe. (Later I will attempt to use the ATAN function to 'spin' the dial based off the distance the swipe covers. Right?)
I guess what I need is a rotation property to "reset" after the animation (Rotate, then zero out the angle?).
Or is there something my non-engineer self is missing?

  • Pictures rotated 90 degrees after separation in Photoshop

In an InDesign CS3-document all the pictures were RGB. I separated them in Photoshop CS3, saved them with same name and updated in InDesign. All the pictures that were rotated in the document got an extra 90 percent rotation. Pictures not rotated were not affected. Seems like a bug to me, but could not find any topic on it when searching this forum. Anybody knows?

I think this can have something to do with if the software reads the EXIF from digital images or not. My Canon can add some info to the image if the camera was held in portrait or landscape orientation when shot.
If portrait, they rotate automatically when opened in Photoshop, which I guess reads that info from the EXIF-data. But if placed directly in InDesign, they come in as landscape so I need to rotate them there. If I then edit original in Photoshop they take an extra turn when updated in Indesign needing to be rotated again.
Needles to say, that particular feature is now disabled in the camera.
