InDesign CS 5.5 does not print out image, just blank page

I am printing to a Lexmark and when I print something from InDesign it will not print the image out. Sometimes it prints a blank page, sometimes it prints the border of the image, sometimes it actually prints the image. It is very intermittent but the majority of the time it doesnt print the image I am trying to print. I have tried messing with the printers and print drivers but nothing has worked. Is there something in InDesign that is wrong?

As I said, sometimes ID and a particular printer driver don't interact well. Printing directly is not really a primary function from ID and it is what it is. Printing from PDF is faster and more reliable 99.9% of the time, presuming you export the PDF correctly. A good place to start, if you aren't doing color management iin the ID print dialog, would be to use the PDF/X-4 preset.

• System.out.println does not print out anything

I'm wonder why the dos mode does not print out the System.out.println.
My code has:
import java.io.*;
import javax.servlet.*;
import javax.servlet.http.*;
public class test extends HttpServlet {
public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request,

The compilation is ok... but it does not display anything... how come?

"System.out.print()" prints to the log file of the tomcat server. in order to print on the screen use JspWriter.
import java.io.*;

This can be the result of selecting the wrong driver. An older, unsupported laser printer will sometimes work with the generic Postscript driver.

• MY HPOfficejet Pro 8600 plus does not print out any e mails. I have added the printer in e-print, an

I am using an HP Officejet 8600 pro plus, I am running Windows 7 64 bit. I get no error messages when I send the e mail, It just never arrives. My email program (Century Link Mail ) indicates that the message was sent correctly. This is a new printer, and I think It is set up right. It does print out my email address correctly and I have added it in e print,but still nothing. Have I missed a step somewhere?
This question was solved.

Hello dnulgoks,
If the email you are sending does not print, there should be a message somewhere that gives us a clue why it is not working. Normally you receive an email reply to your personal email address where the email was sent from telling you whether the ePrint job was received.
If you are getting this email and it is still not printing, the next place to check would be in your ePrintCenter account. You will need to login to this account on http://www.eprintcenter.com and check the "Recent Print Jobs" to see if there is a message regarding your print job. This normally looks like "Printed", "Cancelled", "Rejected", or "Pending".
You may also try power cycling the printer. You can do this by:
While the printer is still on, unplug the power cord from the printer, leave it unplugged for 30 seconds, then reconnect the power cord to the printer. Once plugged back in the printer should power on automatically.
Let me know if you still have questions and I will try to assist you further.
If I have solved your issue, please feel free to provide kudos and make sure you mark this thread as solution provided!

• Suddenly, when I print a Selection from an email, it prints out about 10 blank pages and somewhere in there, the selection I wanted.

I'm using Firefox 12 on Windows XP. Things worked fine until just this evening. Now when I choose Print/Selection in my email, it spits out multiple (like, maybe 10 or more) blank pages with just a header/footer on them. I've followed the instructions for reseting the Firefox printer setting AND Reseting all Firefox printer settings and it still does it. Everything prints fine in Internet Explorer. This printing issue is getting REALLY tedious. I don't want a complicated workaround, I just want to print a selection. NOW why isn't it working?

Thanks, Cor-el, but that question addressed a problem I had with FF11 (that was only fixed when FF12 came out). FF12 worked fine for printing selections from emails perfectly up until yesterday afternoon. Reboot didn't help, even after reboot when I preview what I want to print (thank goodness for that option, or I'd be going through a lot of paper) it's still showing the page of text I actually want to print, then 6-8 blank pages afterward. This is not happening with every email, I have noticed ths morning. It now happens with email sent from (or to, as a reply) a yahoo account in Sweden and email sent from (or in reply to) a gmail account in Canada. These previously printed fine. Other emails will print maybe one extra page. There seems to be no rhyme or reason why it would suddenly start doing this. Should I look at the source code? What would I be looking for?

• Contacts does not print out in alphabetical order

Has something happened to printing lists from Contacts? Don't know if it is Contacts or Mountain Lion.
I have not printed a listin in ML before, but in former versions, an alphabetical listing was generated in alpha order. Now printing a list gives the names out of alpha order. This is the case of a group or All Contacts. This is not just my machine, but another computer in the house running the lastest software.
I find nothing in the printing details to select alpha order. The Contacts is set up to view in last name-first name order.
I also checked all boxes in atributes to see if there was a strange happening there, but the sorted order is identical. It is not sorting by first name either.
Contact preferences is at show first name before last name andsort by last name. I have changed those parameters and there is no effect of the order of names in printing.
Pocket address book prints in alpha order. Mailing labels prints out of order and left off some of the first of the listing. Listing all contacts is also out of order.

Ocalamarilyn ....You are a genius!!!!! Finally I was able to print the complete contact's book alphabetically.... I've been trying to figure that one out since I installed Mountain Lion!!!!........ of course you can only print a list this way but it doesn't matter with lables or envelopes cause they don't have to be in any sort of order. You don't get a chance to select the items you want to show but who cares for now. thank you, thank you thank you..... I hope everyone who has written to this feed sees your reply..... You made my day!!!!! by the way, do you live in Fl cause I'm in Summerfield.

• HP LaserJet 400 MFP M425dn does not print 1/4" of the page when using the feeder

Hello,
When using the feeder to make a copy I lose about 1/4" of my copy along one side.
We copy a lot of full page sheets with little or no margins.
Any suggestions on how to correct this?
Thank you

Most (if not all) commonly available laser printers have 'unprintable margins' on each edge.
On most LaserJet printers, these margins are about 4 mm (0.167"), although on some devices I believe that smaller unprintable area margins (of about 2 mm) can be selected when printing (although possibly not when copying).
When printing with PCL5 drivers, there is also the minimum logical page margin to be taken into account - this is about 6 mm (0.24") by default, although the printing options mentioned above (on some models) can reduce this slightly.

• Some javascript code does not work out in a .jspx page

To the experienced:
I am trying to improve some pages in my application. In one of the pages, there are only two elements in the form: an input box (for user to put in his username) and a submit button. What I am trying to do are:
1. Make the input box be in focus when the page is loaded, so that the user can start typing right away without having to fumble for the mouse and than click the input for it to get focus.
2. After the user has typed the username, pressing the Enter key to submit the form instead of fumbling for the mouse again and click hte submit button.
These are not difficult to do. I wrote a test page, and the following are the snippets from the test page:

<body onload="document.getElementById('username').focus();">
<form method="post" action="http://host.domain.edu/pages/staffLogin.jspx">
<table>
<tr><td>UID:</td><td><input id="username" type="text" name="LoginName"></td></tr>
<tr><td></td><td><input type="submit" value="Submit"></td></tr>
</table>
</form>
</body>

This page does the two things that I want to accomplish, in both Internet Explorer and FireFox. I do not need to add any code for the Enter key to act for the submit button - it behaves that way by default.
But not in the page of my application, with the snippets here:

<f:view>
<afh:html ...>
<afh:head ...>
<script type="text/javascript">self.resizeTo(900,1000);</script>
<meta .../>
</afh:head>
<afh:body binding="#{staffLogin.body1}" id="body1" onload="document.getElementById('inputText1').focus();">
<af:inputText binding="#{staffLogin.inputText1}" secret="true" id="inputText1"
required="true" requiredMessageDetail="Password required."
value="#{staffLogin.submittedPassword}"
onkeydown="if(event.keyCode == 13) document.getElementById('commandButton1').click();"/>
<af:commandButton text="Submit"
binding="#{staffLogin.commandButton1}" id="commandButton1"
action="#{staffLogin.commandButton1_action}"/>

What do I do not right? Is DOM recognized in .jspx? Note that the
self.resizeTo(900,1000);
part works.
Many thanks!
Newman

Hi,
use af:document instead of afh:html (etc.)
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25221_05/web.1013/e18745/tagdoc/core/document.html
initialFocusId
the id of the component to which you want the focus to be when the full page renders. The accessibility-mode must be set to "inaccessible" for this feature to be on. This attribute is not supported on the following agent types: pda, phone, voice.
Use af:form to define the form
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25221_05/web.1013/e18745/tagdoc/core/form.html
defaultCommand
The id attribute of the command button whose action would be invoked by default for form submit on hitting enter on any of the input fields of the form.
You don't need JavaScript at all!

Hi,
Please also check the '''File''' ('''Alt''' + '''F''') > '''Page Setup''' > '''Scale'''. Ideally it should be 100% or less. You can also check the '''Print Preview''' and the '''Scale''' on top.

• Printing a PDF in Adobe Reader v8 does not print watermark

In our office we have PDFs created with Adobe Acrobat Professional version 7 that have a lighten watermark which say "confidential". These PDF documents print fine with Adobe Reader 7.0.8. Our office has now converted to Adobe Reader 8.1.1. When you open the PDF in Adobe Reader v8.1.1 the watermark displays on the screen but when you print the document the document prints without the watermark.
I have checked the knowledge base and can't find this issue. The document has no trouble printing, it just doesn't display the watermark. I have tested Adobe Reader versions 8.0, 8.1.1 and the new version 8.1.2 all display the watermark when you open the Reader, but none of them print the watermark. I have gone back and verify and the watermark does print on Adobe Reader v7.0.8.
If anyone has a similar issue or solution please let me know.
Thanks,
Mary Mendoza

I have the same problem. The watermark does not print out even though I can see it in the print preview. Anybody...?
