InDesign CS5 shuts down when inserting left master page.

InDesign CS5 is shutting down whenever I attempt to insert a page from a master. I am attempting to insert a verso page before a spread. Normally it would bump the current verso to recto and the recto down to the next spread. (I need to add many blank versos in a document that has facing pages.) I have the latest update (7.0.3), and have read all previous posts on similar issues. Have tried several fixes (including deleting columns on the master pages which I have done, to no avail.) and am about ready to save all of my files back down to CS4 just so I can get the work done. Is there a remedy to this bug yet? I was hoping that 7.0.3 fixed it, (and the random elements that appear from master pages on documents that have been converted from CS4), but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Is anyone else having this trouble? Adobe? are you working on this problem? Thanks for any help.

We're seeing more reports of trouble with leagcy files in CS5 than any previous version. I'm now advocating that files you intend to convert should be exported to .inx or .idml from the original version, then open that instead of the .indd in CS5.
And if this pops up again with a file that you can't get to work with a simple export to .idml for CS5, try opening that in CS4 and re-export to .inx, then move that back to CS5. you never know.

  • Photoshop CS5 shuts down when I try to open a file or save something.

I'm not sure what I have done, but I just used it a few days ago with no problems. I could open files from the file menu and save-as things. Now when I try to open a file from my documents folder it shuts down. What is the problem. I have tried to uninstall photoshop and reinstall with a few things that are now working (something about the color scheme had to be switched to windows 7 basic and I couldn't save-as things), but this one problem is still there.  Any help? I am super computer illiterate, so if you talk about third party plug-ins or things like that, I have no clue what that means.
    Thanks

  • InDesign/ Illustrator shuts down when trying to print

I have an issue with printing on CS4. Whenever I try and print in InDesign or Illustrator, the computer has the multi-coloured "ball of death" and then shuts down. It happens everytime, but no in Photoshop. I have looked at previous threads, and it has said to look at PPD preferences but I cannot find these. I have also repaired permissions.
I would really value any help!
I have read that I should do this:
The following workaround can be applied to get these older versions of Illustrator and InDesign to print on this newer operating system. Remove the following files and back them up:
    [Hard Drive]/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/en.lproj
    [Hard Drive]/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/Zh_CN.lproj
    [Hard Drive]/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/Ja.lproj
    [Hard Drive]/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/ko.lproj
    [Hard Drive]/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/Zh_TW.lproj
However, I cannot find these files in Printer section!

    Hello,
Your printer does not support windows 7.
Here are the specs of it: http://reviews.cnet.com/laser-printers/samsung-ml-2010/4507-3159_7-31408217.html
    Windows 98/2000/ME - Pentium II - RAM 64 MB - HD 300 MB,
Windows XP - Pentium III - RAM 128 MB - HD 1 GB
Anyway, I was able to find a driver for your printer, please try to download it from this link and check if that works.
    http://drivers.softpedia.com/dyn-postdownload.php?p=135693&t=0&i=1
Please, remove any previous driver or anything you might have installed on your PC.
Let me know if this is resolved and the outcome.
    Thanks,
I work for HP! Please remember to provide and if this helped click ON

  • Photoshop CS5 shuts down when I open a photo

I just purchased Photoshop CS5 last month and it won't work!  Photoshop will open, but as soon as I open a photo, it shuts down telling me there is an error and it needs to shut down.  I can work in Camera Raw, and try to then open in Photoshop, and it shuts down too.
I'm not super computer savvy, but I know enough, so I need help please!!!!  I am starting a photography business, and I have 2 families pictures to finish editing.
I take instructions well, if you can tell me some things to try I would be so grateful for any help!
    Thank you so much!!!

  • CS5 shut down when useing pixel bender

I have down loaded Pixel Bender and some time it shut down my CS5!! Also get something about the gpu. The image dimensions exceeds the hardware capabilities of your gpu. SO how can I fix this.....
    Keith

Yeah, the graphics driver is incompatible. That is nothing anyone can change. PB is legacy tech, anyway. You could try this, if it's realyl close to your heart:
    http://aescripts.com/pixel-bender-accelerator/
Otherwise I wouldn't bother. Most PB filters are nothing more than half-baked tech demos and I wouldn't consider them usable for production purposes.

  • InDesign CS5.5 - Adobe Acrobat export (incorrect master pages and crop marks)

Hi, I've recently experienced a couple of anomalies when exporting books from InDesign to PDF.
The first issue was that, on seemingly random pages of the book, the exporter suddenly seemed to interpret the crop marks incorrectly. The book pages would go something like: left, right, left, right, right, left, right.
The second issue was that the pdf didn't display the correct master page on one page of the book. The InDesign file has sections with slight grey backgrounds to separate particular sections of the book. One of the pages in one of those grey sections just appears as white (the text remained unharmed) in the pdf though the InDesign file is as it should be.
    Any suggestions?

First issue: No pages are missing, the crop marks indicating whether right or left go out of l,r,l,r order.
Second issue: There is a background fill on the master page. I just checked and the attribute is fine. What's strange is that the first time I made this pdf and sent the book to print, this didn't happen. Now that I've reexported for a second print of the book it happened (the master pages haven't been touched between prints and the same print settings have been used). Is it possible that the exporter can just mess up?

  • My ipad one keeps shutting down when I open a page

it shuts down whether I am using Chrome or Safari, any suggestions?

That is very interesting in that my iPhone was exhibiting similar behavior with the "blue screen of death" with Pages a few months ago. An update for Pages came out and when I installed the update, the problem disappeared.
Is Pages completely updated on your iPad? Do you use iCloud with Pages? If you use iCloud, try turning it off. settings>Pages>Use iCloud>Off. You will not lose your documents since they will still be in iCloud even if you turn that off on your iPad.

  • Indesign CS5 shuts down doing the "cmd z"   , stürzt ab wegen Befehl "STRG +z"

    Hallo Adobe-Fans,

  • Illustrator and Indesign Shutting down when trying to print?

Wondering why my illustrator and indesign is shutting down when I try to print from those programs.  I don't even get to a printing menu.  Just got a new mac....Mac OSX 10.7.3 and using the same Creative Suite 4 I used on old machine and never had this problem....is it the newer operating system?  What can I do?

I'm having issues with CS5 shutting down when I attempt to open a file.  I have reinstalled it to no avail.

Your post is completely devoid of any relevant details like operating system and other stuff... Coulkd be anything from graphics driver issues to fiel system issues. Trash the prefs, update your graphics driver. For anything beyond peopel are goind to need a lot more info.

  • InDesign CS5 is shutting down when I export to an EPS document.

InDesign CS5 is shutting down when I export to an EPS document. This just started happening 2 days ago. Only recent change was upgrade to Suitcase Fusion 5.

Thanks for all the suggestions. So far nothing has helped.
About a month ago I installed Mac Keeper to clean up files and it was a BIG mistake! I think it deleted the 32-bit files from the operating system.
Could that be causing this issue? But if so, why is it just now happening?

    Hi ohmghimire,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you're seeing unexpected behavior when using USB devices, try resetting the SMC on your MacBook Pro:
Resetting the SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own
Note: Portable computers that have a battery you should not remove on your own include MacBook Pro (Early 2009) and later, all models of MacBook Air, and MacBook (Late 2009).
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.
You can find the article with these steps here:
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
If you still see this behavior after resetting the SMC, or your computer won't turn on, try the steps in this article next:

  • InDesign Shuts Down When Saving

    InDesign CS3 5.0.2
InDesign shuts down when saving a file. The ONLY time it seems to act up is when we try to save using any option except for "save a copy." There are no numbers, messages, etc. outside of the standard: "InDesign has encountered a problem and must shut down. We apologize for any inconvenience..."
When it does shut down, whatever file was open at the time is lost. Totally. I have yet to be able to locate the previous file using any means.
Has anyone else had this problem. Any fix?

Normally I would recommend replacing your preferences as a first step. I'm not sure quite how to test, though, without putting something at risk.
Maybe replace the prefs, open a new file that won't matter, save a copy, then try a save as and see what happens. You might also try turning off video hardware acceleration, but that seems tenuous, as does a bad font.
Is there a network involved, or are you working locally? If yes, what kind of network? Have you tried working locally?
If none of this has any effect you may need to reinstall, but I hate to put anyone through that pain without a better idea of what the problem is.
