InDesignCC. How to keep image quality with exporting Interactive PDF?

Hello everyone, I'm using InDesign CC, I'm exporting a PDF that has PNG images, the problem is that I'm loosing the sharpness and the pureness in the images after exporting the file into PDF Interactive... the Settings I'm using for Image Handling are Compression: Automatic , JPEG Quality: Maximum, Resolution PPI: 300..
The file size is "Letter" with web Intent (792px x 612px) the images I'm using are big and have great quality, can anyone tell me how I export into PDF interactive without loosig images quality? I want to keep this pureness and sharpness in the images
Thanks in advance

It depends on the image. Best way for us to advise you is to open your image, then go to Image > Image Size and upload a screen capture of the Image Size box with the readings.
What you might have working against you is not enough pixels. Upsampling may just make it blurred. But we will see.
300 ppi is also not carved in stone, you may get away with 200 ppi depending on where you are sending it for printing.
And lastly, if you are paying a commercial printer to do this, it's best to consult with them and see what they can do.

  • Problem with photo quality when exporting interactive pdf

    Hi guys!
I made a simple pdf with before/after retouching samples with photos overlayed, changing on mouse rollover.
When I export it as an interactive pdf (on lossless jpeg quality), the photo quality on the final pdf looks like a jpeg on 40% quality, really bad. Rollover works.
When I export it as a pdf for print on high quality - the photo quality in the final pdf is flawless but rollovers dont work.. (I checked "Interactive Elements: Include Appearance) but still nothing..
Pleeease help cause I can't find a way. I just need the rollovers to work and to have the photos in the best quality possible.
    Thanks,
    Jelena

If you haven't already you need to change the resolution as well.  Like this:
72ppi is the default which in theory should be fine for on screen viewing, but play around and use what works for you.

  • PDF Portfolio - how to keep image quality?

    Hello!
So today I decided to make a pdf portfolio using acrobate and I must say it's a pretty neat feature, really simple to use. I had no problem until I dicovered it downgraded the quality of all the jpg images I put in my portfolio (which doesn't happen when I just make a single pdf file from those same jpg-es).I'm guessing that happens for a reason, I mean to make the whole portfolio smaller in size for web publishing purposes, but in this particular case I keep my images in their original size no matter how big it all gets.
So I tried all the different settings and options but nothing helped. I even looked online for a solution, but no one even mentions this problem. I know it's probably some detail that just needs to be adjusted but I just cant find that one (or I'm being blind/stupid as usual).
So dear adobe community you are my last solution, please somebody help me figure this one out!

    i don´t think so.
because i had the same "problem" when i started with LR.
i was confused because lightrooms crop tool worked different then photoshops and i thought i had changed some settings that made LR behave "strange".

  • Poor image quality in export to powerpoint

When I export a presentation to powerpoint format, the image quality of some elements is poor. Is there any way to preserve the image quality upon export?

    Hello Ido:
Here is a paste of the last communication I had over email with Fergus:
When using photoshop, save the files a BMPs.
When .jpg image is inserted into Crystal Reports it is converted into bitmap format and as the
result of the conversion the report may loose some quality and scale.
When an image is saved as a .bmp, then there is no conversion required and thus the quality
of the image should be preserved.
Best practice: save the image with high resolution and required size as a  .bmp format then
insert this image into Crystal Reports.
One more thing. Many people like to use jpg files as they are smaller than bmp files. However,
as far as Crystal Reports is concerned, this is inconsequential. The report file will be the same
size if a file is inserted as a jpg or a bmp. This is due to the jpg conversion to bmp Crystal Reports
    does internally.
I am not sure if that helped, but Fergus did say that he was going to adjust his approach to how he handles the images. Hopefully that did help. And many thanks for bringing up the Fergus thread. I'll update it with the above info.

  • Image quality with the Canon 5Dmark 2 vs.. The 5Dmark3?

I use Leica lenses on a canon body with an adapter.  Is the image quality with the Canon 5Dmark 2 vs.the 5Dmark3 similar?  Any reason to get one vs. the other?  I like the idea, that I can change the viewfinder screens on the Mk 2. Any overwhelming improvement of the  5Dmark 3 that would warrant consideration?  Thanks to those who have used both camera bodies.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The primary advantage of a Mk3 over the Mk2 is the AF.  More points and it can focus with f/8.   If your Leica lens is manual focus then you wouldn't care about it.  The 5D3 has a little of an advantage in the ISO but not a huge factor.  Other than that I'd say IQ is the same.

    Hi Proweld,
There are two ways to use ExportPDF subscription. Using Web Browser (http://exportpdf.acrobat.com) and another one is using Adobe Reader.
Kindly look into the below mentioend document, and let me know if that helps.

    if (pPDFExportCmd == nil)
         break;
    InterfacePtr<IPDFExportPrefs> pExportPrefs(pPDFExportCmd, IID_IPDFEXPORTPREFS);

  • How do I move folders with subfolders (containing pdf files) from my pc to ipad 3 to use in adobe reader

How do I move folders with subfolders (containing pdf files) from my pc to ipad 3 to use in adobe reader

You need to connect the ipad to the computer and open itunes.
Open the ipad and go into settings, icloud. Tap on "Documents and Data" and turn that on to sync to icloud.
Now go back into itunes and it should pick up your ipad already and tap on the ipad connection. There will pop up some taps on the center screen for sync options. Go thru each one (summary, info, apps, music, tv shows, podcasts, itunesU, books and photos).....you want to click on "Books".
To the left click the arrow next to the ipad under Devices.
The arrow will point down and open the sub menu, click on the "Books" sub menu here. You will see in the center window current books, PDF currently on the ipad.
Next go to the top and click on "File"  (file, edit, view, controls, store, advanced, help) and click on "add folder to library"...... it will bring up your computer file system in a seperate window. File the folder your looking for and add it. This should get the folder set up to sync onto ipad thru itunes.
For additional ease in doing things on the middle window of itunes click back on summary, scroll a bit and you will see "Backup", click on "Backup to icloud". Then under "Options", check "Sync with this ipad over WiFi".
This will allow you to wirelessly sync your itunes and your ipad without having the ipad connected to the computer with a cable. You just have to be on the same wireless network.
If in itunes you add something like a pdf or photo, when your on your ipad open the Ibooks or Iphoto app and it wull update the file system to match your itunes account. The sync with with anything you do in itunes and it works the other way around also. If you save files, photos, books on the ipad, using the ipad (app store purchases, games, books)....the ipad will update to itunes next time your on the same network.
FYI - both the ipad and the computer have to be on.
Itunes updates (changes you make thru itunes), does not need itunes to be open for update content to update to the ipad. This is because it updates to the cloud.
Updates from the ipad to itunes will need itunes open on the computer. So it can sync with the cloud info.

  • BUG: Indesign CC 2014 - significant image artifacts with 'export as JPG'

    Issue
Spreads exported from InDesign as maximum quality JPGs have heavy artifacts not present in PDF's with equivalent image compression settings.
    Steps
Export spread to JPG (max, baseline, 300ppi)
Export spread to PDF (image compression set to JPG, maximum)
Compare both files in Photoshop at 100%
    Results
Maximum quality JPGs are significantly artifacted.
    Expected Results
Maximum quality JPGs should be identical to PDF images with equivalent image compression settings (and should be virtually indistinguishable from original files sized equivalently in Photoshop (and saved via Photoshop's 'Save for Web').
    Please Note
I'm very familiar with the limitations of JPG's in pre-press work. Please trust that I have legitimate reasons for needing InDesign to export spreads as JPGs with the same image quality as is possible when exporting as a PDF (or using Photoshop's 'Save For Web' function with the source file sized identically as the spread in question.)
    Samples
exhibit A: spread exported as PDF (compression set to JPG, maximum quality)
exhibit B: spread exported as JPG (maximum quality)

    Rob,
Thank you for running your test!
Since posting (and just before reading your reply), I discovered an additional constraint on replicating the issue:
–it only appears when the linked image has been upscaled* (in my example, 107.1%)
*keep in mind, the PDF was upscaled to the same degree, ruling out it being solely an upscaling issue
–testing at 'even-magnification' scales (i.e. 150%) simply resulted in increased pixelation compared to the same PDF export (see samples below)
–testing at 'odd-magnification' scales (i.e. 101%) generated random artifacts (like those visible in the samples of my initial post)
–as such, this is likely more of a resampling/aliasing issue than jpg-artifacting.
That is, it would seem that upscaled images seem to enjoy a higher-quality resampling method when exported as PDFs.
I'd be curious to see how your test fared with upscaled images.
    samples
image scaled at 150%, exported as PDF (compression set to JPG, maximum quality)
image scaled at 150%, exported as JPG (maximum quality, anti-alias**)
**tested with & without anti-aliasing, results were identical

  • Compressing pdf's and keep image quality for email send outs

    Hello
I have a 55MB Pdf file which I would like to compress to be compatible with email send outs. I work a lot with imagery and need my visuals to be crisp and sharp. Anyone clued up on what settings to use to keep the best possible image quality? Would appreciate some support on this. • How to reload image file with metadata

Usually I capture pictures in RAW and import into Aperture library. A lot of them is not very good or very important, but after making rate, adding keywords, I want to output them from RAW to JPEG.
And then, import back those JPEG images into the same library with other "good image" RAW.
But, how to keep all the JPEG in same album with rate and keyword?

try this, but test it first. You could use referenced imaged in your library. Do set you library to automatically create previews. Set the preference for Previews to the quality you prefer for the saved JPEG images. Use the "Update Preview" option to create previews of the image you want only the JPEG version of. Once you have a preview of the images you only want a JPEG of, move the original out of the referenced storage location.

  • Poor image quality on exported version

I am trying to export versions of my photos to a folder on my external drive. Every time I do this the resulting jpg is washed out and has poor resolution + a ton of noise. The resulting image is substantially lighter than the images in my aperture window, yet the histogram does not indicate that the images should be that light or washed out.
The images are all starting as RAW images. The export settings are for image quality 12, 300 dpi, sRGB, original jpg. I have onscreen proofing turned on and set to sRGB. My print lab said that the image quality could be 10, but when they looked so horrible I bumped them up.
I had Aperture for a long time before upgrading to Aperture 2 in March. From March to August I did not have any problems, so this is a more recent problem. I have not yet upgraded to Snow Leopard. Please help!!! Thanks!!!
