Infotypes during MSS implementation of My Staff
i was trying to implement My Staff. I did almost every configuration on r/3 and portal side but it didn't worked. then i underwent the procedure again where it was written "B. Have an SAP R/3 user attached to the IT105 of an employee.
C. Be in a position that is a Chief of an Org Structure."
these 2 are the prerequisites need to be done before your My Staff iViews work.
where IT105(an infotype) needs to attached with the r/3 user; which properties i need to play with on the portal side and please let me know the settings to be done on the r/3 side.

What did not work? Do you have employees listed in "My Staff" homepage? Or do you get an error message?
What happens is that the portal user (in your case a manager) is send to r/3. There the user will be looked up in the Organisational Structure IF it is a manager.
Transaction PPOME (Organisation and Staffing Change) will help you setting up the manager. Select the manager, check "Head of own organizational unit".

Aniruddh1st question would be.. does that iview in that path actually exist. If it does it may be worth delting it from the page and then adding it again. if it doesn't, well that's your problem.
If it does exit then try previewing it. Looking at the error (Component Name : null) it could be that the par file has not deployed properly, in which case it is basically pointing at java code that doesn't exist. If that is the case look for any .err files at OS level, rename then to .par and restart j2ee.

Normally there will be a mapping between old data and SAP data, therefore you will need to reconcile that the total balances and do spot checks of certain GL accounts. If you are just entering a balance per GL account this should be easy, however if you are taking line items per GL account you need to be more detailed.
Regarding balances of sub ledgers, these will be updated when you upload the line item details, so open items for Customer, Vendors that kind of thing.
You will need to post to a suspense account, you may use a few so these will need to be reconciled as well. -

I will list out few of critical issues in
Implementation :
1 . Ensure 100% mapping of business process for all modules with SAP(avoid customization in support phase)
2. Unit & Integeration testing should be through with all validations
3. Master datas(Vendor,Customer) care must be taken will uploading datas thru LSMW,
If there are common vendors for all plants,Create a vendor for a plant extend it to other plants
4. Check tax procedures are customized according to requirements.
5. Complete all print document customizations before go live
6. Complete end user training(2 or more cycles) should be top priority before go live(This will avoid
cancellation/reversal of documents after post go live)
7. Ready with standard MIS reports & customized reports for business decision making
8. Excise opening balance updation in tables for RG1 register in tables(Note 951955) on go live
9. Check all tables datas are updating correctly
10. Declare go live to SAP Support
11. Check All user authorization should be correct according to their roles.
12. Centeralize all master datas creation(avoid duplication)
13. Create transaction variants to avoid entires in unnecessary fields & make certain fields mandatory.
14. Ensure document numbering is completed for all documents
15. Validate accounting entries are hit properly according to requirement in quality client with FI CTM(Core team member).
After Go live :
1. Missing authorization for users will play key part here,For ex : PGI while doing delivery,Excise capture & post in MIGO/J1IEX.
2. Do internal audit every month,identify transactions if there will possibility for misuse or wrong entries,requires validation,identify users weak in certain areas.
3. Identify there is enhancements to be done in transaction process(By step-2)
4. Prepare a list of month & year end activities to be performed for all modules give to users
5. Prepare a list of frequently used transaction codes module wise give it to users
6. If there is subcontracting,ensure challan creation,GR,reconcillation should be done regulary(monthly)
7. Train the users,take reports in respective modules.
8. Additonal customization might be done in print documents.
9. Instruct users/CTM's to adapt SAP Standard practise
10. Update excise tax rates after every indian budget

A question about ESS / MSS implementation.

Just a brief again about our landscape as:
1. We have an ERP ECC5.0 system which has J2EE6.40(add-in) without the 'EP' usage type and the present Support package level of the relevant ESS and MSS components are as follows:
a. J2EE6.40 Support Package level is '17'.(We are going to deploy the XSS components here)
b. ERP ECC5.0 system's Software Components details are as follows:

Here are my questions?
1. what is the best 'Support Package' level recommendation or combination is applicable for all the components(J2EE6.40,SAP_BASIS,SAP_ABA,SAP_APPL,SAP_HR,EA-HR...etc.,) involved in this type of mixed landscape - ESS & MSS implementation?
2. If we apply the higher Support Packages 'only' for the ERP ECC5.0 software components such as: SAP_BASIS,SAP_ABA,SAP_APPL,SAP_HR,EA-HR - what other ERP ECC5.0 software components would get impacted from functionality prespective ?(let us say if we keep the current Support Package level for other software components as untouched)
3. Is there any dependency exist from the Support Package point-of-view between the ESS MSS Business Packages and with XSS components(PCUI_GP; ESS; MSS)
4. Is there any dependency exist from the Support Package point-of-view between XSS components and ERP ECC5.0 software components such as "SAP_BASIS,SAP_ABA,SAP_APPL,SAP_HR,EA-HR"

First you should check note 1007341 which helps consultants proposing this type of landscape
To answer some of your questions
1) For SPs you have to patch ERP 2004 components following ERP 2004 stack and patch
ERP 2005 components following the ERP2005 stack recommendations at www.service.sap.com/sp-stacks
in terms of equivalence levels I would select SP levels from each stack with similiar release dates
2) Presumably you will be using ERP2004 components in the front-end in some capacity therefore these
ERP2004 components must be patched in line with ECC 500 stacks
3) There is dependancies between Business Packages and XSS
4) There is dependancies between back-end components SAP_HR and EA_HR and XSS/BP
SAP_HR and EA_HR also have their own dependancies with the other back-end components listed

During the implementation diff. modules are tobe implemented. Each module has 1 consultant i.e., FI, MM, SD, CO consultants. here my question is.....
Each consultant will be prepare AS-IS & TO-BE documents for their respective modules i.e.,
- FI Consultant - 1 AS-IS & TO-BE
- CO - 1 do
- MM - 1 do
- SD - 1 do
these 4 bbp's are mixed and finalized and finally 1 bbp gets ready for further phases. is it correct, pl suggest me?
What is the role of each consultant in AS-IS & TO-BE(BBP) in the above example?

Yes u r right that Each consultant will be prepare AS-IS & TO-BE documents for their respective modules but these BBP's are not mixed up.
The rules of each consultant in phase 2 i e Business Blue Prints is to created bbp's or say Document which is going to configure in the SAP system along with core users.
AS - IS means what futures client's are using in the Legacy System
TO- BE mean what futures we are giving to client according to thier Legacy System

In case of upgrade project, ABAPer is required during upgrade (Basis activity) itself in SPAU and SPDD step.
Otherwise, ABAPer has following role in their area:
1. Business study in brief. (To resolve simple issue and to understand logic)
2. Coding for User exits / enhancements to co-operate with functional consultant.
3. Custom reports / Program developement (Normally print programs and some analytical reports)
4. Upload program implementation thru' BDC / BAPI / LSMW
etc.
5. Interface developement if required. (in case of legacy system integration projects)
These are the major tasks of ABAPer in implementation project.
Activities that form the SAP implementation process are:
1. Project Preparation

My questions are:
a, Is it necessary to have set up SSO with the R/3 backend, or is the usermapping enough for MSS?
b, My connection to R/3 from System administration->SLD->connection test worx. I have created also SAP_R3_HumanResources alias for this system. In spite of this i get an error, that app can not connect to backend. What can be wrong?
c, Are there needed same setting also in J2EE admin?
d, I have read about SAP_R3_HumanResources_Metadata alias.. What is it good for?

there is some documentation in the help.sap.com and also in the Portal Content Portfolio (see files at the top right; they contain some useful links...)
You didn't write about the version of you portal, the ERP and the MSS version. Please do that if you want useful help.
JCO: it is not necessary to install/ upload JCO in Netweaver.
If you have issues with the connection from the portal to the ERP then there is some problem with the configuration;
take a look to the ports and also use the fully qualified domain name and not the IP address (easier for later SSO config). Use first the user mapping to verify that you can connect.
Regarding the SAP_R3_HumanResources_Metadata. that is an JCo property you have to define where you deployed the MSS webdynpro part. The MSS portal package contains only "pointers" to the Web Dynpro components, which reside on the ERP side.

Way to modify the employee's information (enhanced InfoType) in MSS?
In MSS General Information/ Related Activity area, the manager can modify the employee's information (Addr. Family Member, etc.), as it is a standard module.
Now we have an enhanced InfoType in ECC backend, and want to make it can be modified by the manager through MSS like the other information(Addr. Family Member, etc.).
Is there a way to realize this?

Something is wrong in your implementation or description. Or both.
You are attempting to get an object from the array. Then you modify the data in it. Then you set it back into the array.
You don't create a new object anywhere.
So which is it? Is the array empty or is it populated with objects and you are just setting the data in each? The code suggests both (obviously illogical.) -

ESS / MSS Implementation for ECC 5.0 (ERP2004)
Hello,
We are preparing to implement ESS/MSS for ERP2004. We are using EP6.0 SP9. The notes for both ESS and MSS business packages refer to OSS Note 761266 regarding the versioning of XSS components. Are the patches for the XSS components supposed to be deployed to the portal environment, the ERP2004 environment, or both? The three patches mentioned are:
PCUI_GP05_1.sca
ESS05_1.sca
MSS05_1.sca
Should these be installed in the portal, ERP2004, or both?

Since the patches are stored under the ERP2004folder in the support packages area of Service.SAP.com, I assumed they would be applied to the ERP environment, but I want to confirm this.Thanks for the clarification James. I thought the patches should be applied to WebAS for the ERP2004 environment, but the OSS note is vague about that fact.
Chuckie, We are implementing ESS version 60.2. ECC 5.0 refers to Enterprise Central Component 5.0, which is how SAP refers to the Core R/3 product in the ERP2004 suite.

System configuration for ESS/MSS Implementation
Hi,
I am stuck while configuring the systems for XSS configuration. I have completed following:
1) Installed Portal 7.00 (based on NW2004s) which uses the backend ERP2005 system as a User Master source.
2) Implemented the business packages for ESS 1.0 (SP6), MSS 1.0 (SP6) and SAPPCUI_GP 600 (SP6).
3) Configured the SLD ( we have SLD running on a separate XI system)
4) Configured JCO destinations (tested ok).
5) Configured Systems for Portal and the ERP systems with system aliases.
For Portal System: I have only configured the WAS properties (i.e. hostname, path and protocol).and User management (using UDIPW as the logon method)
The system alias is SAP_WebDynpro_XSS
For ERP System: I have configured connection, user management and W.A.S. properties. The system aliase is SAP_ECC_HumanResources
However, when I perform the connection tests for both systems, they both fail for "Connection Test for connectors" test. It gives the message "Connection failed. Make sure the user mapping is set correctly and all connection properties are correct".
Any help is greatly appreciated.

MSS Implementation on mySAP ERP 2005 & Portal 7.0
Does anyone know what has happened to the appraisals functionality in MSS BP 1.0 mySAP ERP 2005?
The BP documentation indicates that the Appraisals Overview, Edit Appraisals, Appraisals Inbox & Status Overview functionality has been replaced by the new Appraisals iView with an underlying application to support it.
The new appraisals iView will display appraisals overview data but there seems to be no way of creating, editing or generally interacting with the appraisal documents once they are displayed in the table.
Am I missing something here (i.e. the other iViews have not been fully migrated to Web Dynpro and still require HTMLB) or am I just missing some back end config / implementation steps somewhere in ERP 2005?

I wondered if there was a way to configure the 'Employee Search' iview by linking the HAP_STATUS columns in the OADP config to a BSP service, but there's no documentation on how to start on this.
