Initial 4402 and VLAN Config Questions

We have a 4402 connected through a 3750 with ints as follows:
ap-manager/untagged/192.168.1.241/yes
management/untagged/192.168.1.244/n
s.p./na/172.16.0.1/n
v/na/1.1.1.1/n
wireless/100/10.10.0.1/n
Internal DHCP Server enabled at 192.168.1.241
In viewing the port address table on the switch connecting to the WLC, no traffic is showing on VLAN100 (port is tagged for that VLAN). Any ideas?
Also, is there a need for a NAT box anywhere to translate IPs between the distinct subnets?
Thanks in advance.
Doug

Hi Hoof,
I haven't used NAT, just a standard router.
I'm not sure what you mean when you say "pointing at the address on the controller", if you're talking about the ap-manager or management interfaces then that is definitely not what you want (unless I've completely misunderstood you).
Yes, the gateway address on your dynamic interface for vlan 100 should be the gateway on your router. The other "IP Address" parameter is a free address from the subnet that is associated with vlan 100 which I believe is used to route (for want of a better term) between the WLC and your wired network.
Hoping this is helpful.

  • SF300-24P VLAN CONFIG QUESTION

Hi please excuse my ignorance and lack of knowledge in this field as I am a complete newbie when it comes to Cisco switches and VLANS etc. but trying to learn.
I have a Cisco 300-24P and need to create two separate networks (private and public) ports 1 - 10 for Private and ports 11 - 20 for Public. I then to need ports 21 - 24 for access points and that can access both private and public.
I am assuming that would need to create two vlans (e.g. VLAN100 for private and VLAN200 for public). After reading a little I think I need to set ports 1- 20 to "access" and ports 21- G4 to "trunk".
I have attempted this but don't think I have things quite right. Would it be possible for someone to either point me in the right direction or even send me a saved config that I could load and examine.
Many thanks in advance for your help.

    Hello,
I think I can clarify a few things for you:
1- The ports that are going to connect directly to end stations will need to be configured as access ports with the respective VLAN as untagged.
2- The ports that are going to be connected to the AP's will need to be configured as trunks with VLAN 100 un-tagged and 200 tagged. The AP should be able to understand VLAN's, they should be configured with and IP address on VLAN 100.
3- By default, the un-tagged VLAN is the same PVID.
    Notes:
A few things to keep in mind:
1- I see you already have a router on the network, this is the one that will determine if the VLAN's can talk to each other based on the Inter VLAN configuration. In general terms, if inter VLAN is enabled on the router then Public and Private will be able to share traffic, otherwise they wont.
2- When creating VLAN's on the SG300 make sure that you are not assigning IP addresses to any other VLAN than your management VLAN, otherwise you could have issues with the routing.
3- To make sure the connectivity between the VLANs is working as you expect, make sure to do all the testing from the hardwired PC's first, that way you will know if the issue is on the router or the switch.
    I hope this was helpful.

  • SGE2010 port-channel and trunking config question

I have port-channels configured and working for the native VLAN on multiple SGE2010s. I now want to add multiple VLANs and enable trunking for the port-channel. I am not clear on the appropriate way to enable trunking as it can be enabled on the port and on the port-channel. The ports and port-channel are currently in access mode. If anyone can provide the correct configuration, I would appreciate the guidance. I also need to get the port-channels and trunking working with 3Com 4500 & 4200s. If you know of any configuration issues, again any guidance would be appreciated

    Hi Jacqueline,
Sorry Juans answer needs some correction, but I am grateful for Juans participation.
The SGE2010 does not support a CLI.
There is a unsupported CLI,  that someone plastered somehwere on this community, but i must admit i still like to use the GUI.
The software on the SGE2XXX was recently updated so you can find that on the cisco.com website.
I have created a link below  to a recording i just made,  regarding Link aggregation on the SGE2XXXX, i thnk if you see the 11 minute recording a couple of times, maybe pause it, play with your switch, it  will start to make sense.
you can't breat the switch by configuring it
click here to see a recording of me creating a Link aggregation between two switches

  • Cisco SG 300-10 VLAN and IP Interface Question

    Hello,
Please forgive me if you find my question too basic. But, I would really appreciate an answer as I am having a heck of a time getting the VLANs to work. I have several VLANs configured as follows, but, my question is related only two VLANS: VLAN 104 and VLAN 2000. Followings are the screenshots.  I have connected cable from Port 6 of the switch to the NIC2 of Windows 8.1 PC. When I use GE6 as access port for VLAN 104, I am able to ping to the NIC2 configured with static IP 10.10.30.30. However, when use GE as Trunk Port for VLAN 104 and 2000, I am not able to ping the NIC2 configured with static IP 10.10.30.30 or static IP 10.10.110.30. I am using the ping utility from the GUI.
If there is a better way to test the trunk port, please let me know.
At this point, I am assuming that something is wrong with my configuration as the NIC2 is unable to receive IP address.
The other assumption is that NICs with Windows 8.1 OS does not accept Traffic from Tagged VLANS.

Tom and Michal, your response is much appreciated. You are 100% right. The issue was with the Windows recognizing the VLAN tags. I have tested trunking by using the vmxnet3 driver from VMware and it works.
I had another question where I can use your help too. I am not sure how to connect two Cisco SG300 switches - one with L3 mode and the second one with L2 mode. I have configured GVRP for Port 5 of both switches and run a cable connecting to Port 5 of each switch. I have made port 5 of both switches trunk mode ( 1U, 1000T). I have created VLAN 1000 on both switches. With L3 switch, I have added IP Interface (192.168.100.1) to VLAN 1000. My issues is that, I am not able to access the management port (192.168.1.238) of the L2 switch. Note that the L2 switch has only on uplink, which is to the L3 switch. Since the Port 5 also receives untagged traffic from VLAN1 (192.168.1.1), I am assuming that it would receive the management network from VLAN1.

  • 2 SSIDs and VLANs on each AP

I'm new to configuring IOS wireless APs, in particular, a couple of 1142Ns in autonomous mode and looking for examples/answers. These APs will be connected to the POE ports on an ASA 5505 firewall. I'm also configuring the 5505.
The requirements are that each AP have an "internal" and "external" SSID and each AP will have two VLANS.
The APs should allow roaming between them.
The internal SSID will allow full access to internal corporate networks and the Internet and will use WPA2. It will use the corporate dhcp server or employ the IOS dhcp server to hand out addresses.
The external SSID will only have access to the Internet and will use WEP. The ASA 5505 will provide dhcp services to these clients.
The two PoE ports on the ASA 5505 will be trunked for both the inside and dmz VLANS.
If anyone has examples of any of these requirements, comments, and/or similar config they are willing to share, please post them.
In particular, I would like to see an examples of the roaming config, VLAN config, SSID config, and WPA2 and WEP config.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Cisco terms are sometimes Complex!! In English this means.. "broadcasting the SSID or NOT" if you want your laptop to detect the SSID while searching for wireless then this is called BROADCAST if not then NON-BROADCAST.. the command is.. Guest-mode under SSID config.. that is..
    en
    conf t
    dot11 ssid
    guest-mode                           >>>>>>>>>>>> Broadcasting the ssid
    end
    en
    conf t
    dot11 ssid
no guest-mode                      >>>>>>>>>>>> Not Broadcasting the ssid (HIDDEN) MANUALLY WE NEED TO  ENTER THE SSID ON THE LAPTOP.
    end
Lemme know if this answered your question..

  • 802.1x Dynamic VLAN Switching Question

Trying to set up 802.1x dynamic VLAN switching, and have a question. I think I've gotten it working except for one part. The VLAN on a protected interface is never getting switched. I can see an entry in the ACS stating that it applied the appropriate VLAN via RADIUS response, but it never changes on the switch.

    Am I missing something easy?

It looks like "aaa authorization network default group dot1x" was the missing command I needed to get this working.
The only issue I'm having now is that if the client fails to meet the authentication requirements, the line status gets set as "down"

  • Redundant FWSM Config Question

    Hello All,
I'm going to be configuring failover with FWSMs for our 6500 at my job and I have a config question. There is one current 6500 chassis with 2 FWSMs installed. They are both online but currently since failover isn't setup, only one FWSM is actually active. My question is since we are using mutiple contexts where do I setup the failover interface, and do I need to configure failover on every single vlan on the FWSM? We have over 10 contexts each with 2-3 interfaces on them, so do I need a failover IP for every vlan that exists on every context? Also, does the failover config get setup on the admin or system context? Any help would be greatly appreciated, and thank you so much in advance!

    Hi John.
Failover config goes in the system context. For the data interfaces in each context, you will need a primary and a standby IP i.e. 2 IP's per VLAN. Once failover happens, the secondary FWSM will assume the active role and the secondary FWSM will take over the Primary IP address thus making the failover process transparent to end users.
    HTH.

  • Help with wireless controller and VLANs

Hi I'm trying to setup a wireless controller in preparation for a large site go live later this year. I'm struggling to get the controller and the WLAN using the correct VLAN. I want the controller on VLAN 100 and the clients on the WLAN on VLAN 200.
My thought is that I would need a config similar to:
Switchport for wireless controller management port set to trunk VLAN 100 and 200 with no native VLAN set.
The management interface on the controller set to VLAN 100.
A dynamic interface created on VLAN 200.
When setup like this I can get to the controller on its management address but only from VLAN100 not from another VLAN on site or from other sites over the WAN.
I have setup a WLAN which is set to use the dynamic interface on VLAN 200.
I have set the AP to use HREAP and set the native VLAN as 200 and added the dynamic interface into the VLAN mappings
When I connecting a client to the WLAN I get an address on VLAN 100.
The switchport for the AP is set to native VLAN 100 and trunk 200 – this setup works for standalone APs at other sites.
    What am I missing?
Also any idea why the management interface address is not routing? The netmask and gateway are set correctly.
    Thanks
    Paul

Just to add to Steve's post... You only need to create a dynamic interface for vlan 200 if you have ap's also in local mode.  If your ap's are in H-REAP/FlexConnect mode, you don't need a dynamic interface for vlan 200.
In you H-REAP/FlexConnect ap, you would set the wlan to vlan mapping there and the switchport configuration would be a trunk allowing vlan 100 (im assuming your native vlan for your ap) and vlan 200.  You should see something like the following:

  • Private Vlan config

I have a question regarding private Vlan config. I have a DMZ switch where I need to be able for a particuilar server to communicate to the reset of the servers on port 8686 and deny the rest of the communications between them. I have this server on a poremiscuios mode and the other servers on isolated ports. For security reason how can apply this access list? on which vlan? I am running IOS on the switch connecting these servers. Thanks for your help

the port is that the server(10.3.1.50. 255.255.0.0) that need to talk to all server is attached to:
    interface GigabitEthernet1/0/18
    description DZ1WEBSD001
    switchport private-vlan host-association 50 51
    switchport mode private-vlan promiscuous
    speed 100
    duplex full
    no mdix auto
    The subnet is 10.3.1.0 255.255.0.0
Basically the 10.3.1.50 need to talk to all servers on this subnet on port 8686 and deny evrything else

  • A few post config questions on new setup

    Hi Group,
Just a few post config questions.
First, how can I confirm my controller is in fact associating properly with an NTP server?  On a typically cisco product, I could just do a 'show ntp associations' or a 'show ntp status'.  I cannot see a way to confirm this on the gui or command line.
Second, on my guest network with web-auth, if one were to choose to not use https for web-auth and instead use unsecure http, would that be possible and if so where in the gui?
    Thanks.

The third field is from a WLC running v7.4 not v7.2.  I usually would install a 3rd party certificate, but what eles you can try is issue this command on from the CLI.  It had issues working with certain code versions, but you might as well give it a try.
    config network web-auth secureweb disable
    Thanks,

I am trying to setup native vlan tagging using the command "vlan dot1q tag native".   I am entering this when I am in privileged exec mode, and then config mode.   When enter vlan ? it does not show dot1q as an option.   Any thoughts on what I might be missing?   What I am trying to achieve is all ingress untagged traffic (from my Meru controller) will be tagged with VLAN tag 101 as it progresses through my network, and any tagged traffic on vlan 101 which is destined for the port where my Meru controller is located will be delivered to the Meru controller untagged.   I can set this up in this manner on a SG300 Cisco switch, and I believe this is what "vlan dot1q tag native" will achieve if I am understanding correctly.
I welcome suggestions on both why the "vlan dot1q tag native" won't work, and on what I am trying to accomplish.
    Thx
    Bryan

    Hi Aaron,
Thank you for the quick reply.
The Meru controller uses untagged traffic to talk between the controller and the APs.   It also uses tagged traffic to talk between the controller and the VLANs which I have associated with each of the SSIDs.   I am trying to find a way to do what is normally done with an access port, but do that with an LACP group (801.Q trunk).   Where the untagged traffic entering the network from the controller gets tagged as VLAN 101 as it transits the network, and then traffic which is delivered to that 801.Q trunk on VLAN 101 has the tag removed, but all other traffic entering that port will be appropriately tagged, and the tagged traffic along with the tags well egress from that port to the Meru controller.    I have done this before on a Cisco SG300 switch, but not on the 3750-X core in my home.   If I can't make this work I can front end the Meru controller with an SG300 but now I will be introducing another potential point of failure.
Also, do you have any idea why the "vlan dot1q tag native" would not be accepted by the IOS version on this switch stack?
    Thx
    Bryan

  • Workshop Weblogic config questions

I'm using Oracle Workshop for WebLogic 10.3 and I'm hoping someone can answer some setup/config questions.
When I double click on the server (WebLogic Server v10.3 at localhost) a window opens with various settings that manage how workshop and weblogic work together.
Under "Startup & Deployment" I have the following turned on:
Launch WebLogic server in Eclipse console
Always start WebLogic Server in debug mode
Ignore project compilation errors when publishing (I have this turned on because of errors in a portal project, the errors aren't inmportant, and don't prevent the project form running)
Run stand-alone web module directly from workspace
So, first question, with these settings I was able to quickly switch to debug mode, with out restarting the server, now the server restarts whenever I turn debugging on. What have I done that has stopped this working correctly? How can I get it to start debugging without a full restart?
next question, what happens if I turn on "Start WebLogic Server in Express Mode"? As far as I can tell nothing happens.
Lastly, under "Automatic Publishing" I have it set to "Never publish automatically", if I choose another setting workshop essentially freezes because it's constantly publishing. So whenever I make a change, even in a jsp, I need to remove the project, then re-add it to see my changes in the browser. This is frustrating, not just because it takes 8 or 9 minutes (8 or 9 MINUTES!!!), but because the project doesn't run properly until it is redeployed. You'd think that if it needs to be re-deployed, then none of my changes should matter on the server until it is re-deployed.
So, my question is, Is there any way to get this re-deployment to happen faster?
Thanks for any and all help

Well, in my experience performance is not bad as you experienced. Is it locally connected server or remotely connected server? If it is a remote server, network issue could cause this latency issue.
Is performance better if you run the server without enabling debug mode? If yes, probably you can also review any break points set.
You could also try out the following options
    1) Run workshop with -clean option, by opening command prompt and navigating to workshop_home\'workshop.exe -clean'
    2) Untick the option 'Launch WebLogic server in Eclipse console' and start server which would enable server to start on command prompt
    3) This would enable you to take multiple thread dumps (cutl +Break) on the server console output, while performance is very bad, to see where threads are halt.

  • Re: PLM4P v6003 Config Question:  Any way to configure UGM Notifications?

    After reading:
PLM4P v6003 Config Question:  Any way to configure UGM Notifications?
This is one of the requirements from me as well. We always wanted to customize emails sent not only for UGM but also for other modules. We wanted to conveysome message to approvers. But it seems this is still not possible. Is this functionality on road-map of AgielP4P product management?

Currently, the subject and body of emails can be customized to an extent, as they are translations that can be overridden. The translations have some placeholder fields that get populated by the system, but you are limited to those placeholder fields. The upcoming release will give you full control of the email body and subject lines, for GSM and SCRM emails, as well as Supplier Rep emails.

  • Auto correct the inputs received to Initial Capital and other letter small

    Hi,
    Please help to solve this..
In HRMS is there any auto correct the inputs received to Initial Capital and other letter small in HRMS. E.g. If data is received by HRMS as 'RAMA' HRMS should auto correct to 'Rama' from legacy system(Input Files)
    Thanks-

Is this a migration question? If so, you can apply a mask to the source data at the point of calling the api, e.g.
    p_last_name => INITCAP(source_last_name),
    etc
