Initially opening a stand alone application not in run mode.

When opening a stand alone application for the first time, how can I not have it automatically start in run mode?  I want the user to click the white arrow first to start the program.  Are there any ways to get around this?  Thanks!!

Yes.  Here's how:
When you build your executable, there are several screens in which you set parameters.
Under "Source File Settings", check "Set VI Properties for all contained items".
Click the "Customize VI Properties" button.  Another dialog box will pop up listing the VI properties.
Under "Execution", uncheck "Use VI Property".
Make sure "Run When Opened" is unchecked.
Now, when you build your executable, your user will have to press the white arrow to start the VI.
Hope this helps,
d

Make absolutely certain that FireFox is designated as your default browser.
Do this: Tools / Options / Advanced / Check Now / correct the setting
OR right click on any shortcut icon / Open With / Choose Default Program / select desired Browser / check Always... box / OK

    Hi GardW
    All comm. problem are handeled.
The problem was based on the destinations for the .VI's.
Labview 7.1 isn't so got to manage these. It's something the user got to be carefully about.
Allmost solved. But now can't get the default 'labview Icon' to my finnished Application.  You know... when you make a stand alone application..
then somewhere under the building process... you can choose if you want your own Icon added as the application starter icon! If you don't  choose any.. Labview makes the Labview Icon as your application starter Icon.
And that is my problem now. Any ideas???
Thanks for trying to help , i appriceate it !!

  • PDFs opening twice using 'open with Firefox' when browser is not already running

    Windows 7 - Firefox 15*-16*
if Firefox is not already running, opening a PDF document using Firefox (eg right-clicking PDF from desktop, selecting 'open with > Firefox) is always causing Firefox top open the PDF in two different windows.
Happening with PDF plugins enabled and disabled.
Maybe this is a bug and I should report as such?

  • How to include .xml file while building a stand alone application .exe file from a Labview program

    HI,
I have a labview program which loads default values of all the variables from a .xml file when executed.  I am trying to build a standalone '.exe application'  using
(Tools Menu --> Build Application from VI) , however I am not sure where to include this .xml file in the process?  I really appreciate if some one could let me know.
    Thanks
    Vish

As GerdW said, it is preferable (and better practice) to use the project explorer. My guess, you didn't configure the build correctly (and probably used the default settings).
First, you have to specify your xml file as Always included is the source file tab
Now look at how the build folders are built:
The .ini file (xml in your case) is in the data folder. So in the build the relative position of the xml file is not the same as in the development environment. You have to be aware of this difference and use a diiferent relative path for the exe. You can do this using a conditional disable symbol in the project and then use the conditional disable structure in your VI.
Here in the deploy case the exe will look for the file in the data folder and in the development environment it will look in a folder name Files.

  • Sound plays in stand-alone SWF, but not when SWF is loaded into another SWF

I have my Main FLA (Main.SWF) into which I load another SWF (1.SWF).  I have a sound the plays in 1.SWF and it works just fine when I publish 1.SWF alone.  When I load 1.SWF into my Main.SWF and publish Main.SWF, the sound in the loaded 1.SWF no longer plays.  I can't figure out why.
//Here's the code (AS2) in 1.SWF to play the sound; seems pretty straight forward.
    mySound = new Sound();
    mySound.attachSound("soundSWF1");
    mySound.start();

I found some information on-line that helped me figure out how to fix this issue.  First, I moved the sound object code to the timeline of the movieclip in which I wanted to play the sound, even if the movieclip was in a loaded SWF.  So if I my sound should play in mc_1.mc_2.mc_3, the sound object is created in mc_3 timeline.  Also, when creating the sound object, "this" is placed as the parameter, as such:
    soundObject = new Sound(this);
Also, when stoping the sound, I'm using stopAllSounds() instead of soundObject.stop().
I hope this helps someone who is struggling with this same issue.

  • Stand-alone executable will not call dll

    Hi
I am building a datalogger application which uses a dll library from ADAM 5000. I've made the application and it works fine when used in labview but when I make it an executable file it does not communicate with the external device. I cannot connect.
Do you know what am I doing wrong?
    How could I fix it?
I'm attaching the VI as well as the executable file with the dll packed in a zip folder.
    I appreciate any help
    Thanks,

I've screwed that up too with txt files and such, but I'm thinking more along the lines of where the 'call library function node is looking for the dll-
Maybe I'm not helping here, but I think my issue had to do with the name/path field being wrong in the "Configuring Library Name or Path"

  • HP 8250 stand alone printer will not accept 16GB SD camera card.

The message reads "Card access error." The printer works fine with 256MB SD card from same camera. The 16MB card works fine on my HP Photosmart Premium C309 printer. Does the 8250 have an SD card size limitation?
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
The printer do have SD Card limitations, as the specific model is quite older and uses earlier technologies..
As you may find by the product specification, the Maximum size is 1 GB
Four memory card slots: CF I and II, IBM Micro drive, Secure Digital/MM card, xD-Picture card, Sony Memory Stick, maximum size 1 GB

  • Stand alone application

    Hi,
I tried to build an vi where I inserted an Active X object(Excel document) and run it on another computer who doesn't have Microsoft Excel on it and of course didn't work.
    Anyway how to do it?
    Regards,
    Adrian

We need to know what you are doing with the data in Excel to help you figure out how to do it without Excel.
LabVIEW has a Table and a Multicolum Listbox that can both display data in similar way as Excel. And you can do any math function in LabVIEW that Excel can do.
So, if you can feed us bit more information, we should be able to figure it out.

  • Need a stand alone flash player

currently l have version 7 installed that came with Flash MX problem is on occasion l find its not up to its job..
basically put l want a more up to date version of the stand alone player so l can run files made with newer versions as the stand alone player l currently use is failing pretty badly when running some files only showing half their content.

lm not exactly authoring it came with the suite when l originally started using it, really only installed that part for the stand alone flash player.
but surely l can just install and updated stand alone flash player, all l want to do is view animations a friend of mine wanted me to try out for him. that being said l cant even seem to view them in my browsers which is weird because no one else is having any issues and my browsers flash plugins are up to date.

  • How to align prompts for a stand alone report

I have an OBIEE analysis with prompts. This is a stand alone report and not a report on the dashboard.
This report has various different prompts each with a different text. Due to which they dont align .
    For example
    (dash is a prompt box)
    Product Name= ___________________
    Product Description contains any ________________
    Batch Number= __________________
    Destination City contains any _________________
But what I want is to have spaces between the prompt and prompt box so that it align correctly.
Can this be done just from  the prompts tab in the report?
    Thanks

    hi
why dont u use Prompt Display  to "Place label on side of prompt" ?? . it will align automatically.

  • Stand Alone application crashes on startup

    Hi all,
I had built an application in LV 7.1 and has been running fine. On a new computer, I decided to upgrade the app to LV8.6.1. Built and created a new stand-alone app. No complaints. After running for a couple of times, now the stand-alone app crashes everytime on startup. BUT, if I first launch LV8.6.1 and don't open any project or vi, just let the "Getting Started" menu screen sit there, and THEN double-click on my stand-alone app .exe file, it runs. No crash. If I exit LV at this point, my app continues to run without any problem.
I'll appreciate any pointers on this.
    Thanks
    Dave

    Hi Gerd,
Thanks for replying. It is a machine control program. It consists of a Top Level program which has a bunch of logic control and there are several components that it controls. Couple of serial link devices, an ethernet device and a camera for image capture. Developed in LV7, the .exe file was working fine. I am now porting the program for a second machine. The only change are a few hardcoded tuning numbers (could have had them in a ini file to begin with, so I could have left the code untouched, but thats wisdom in hindsight!).
Anyways, with the changes made to few files in LV8, the top level VI runs fine when run from LV environment.
On this new computer with LV8 installed, the original LV7 .exe app runs fine
The newly built Ver8 app crashes on startup when trying to run standalone
The new standalone app would run fine, if LV is launched first and then I start the standalone .exe file.
I am a bit puzzled as to where to start debugging.
    Thanks in advance
