Inserting Data from Oracle to SQL Server on the Real Time Basis.

Hi Everyone,
I need to insert data from Oracle to SQL Server on the Real Time basis, we have to fetch data from oracle approx 20 tables, and each table has more than 30 Fields. I need to fetch data in every 15 mins.
I have created a job using SQL SERVER Agent by writing insert queries for all the tables with conditions that no rows will be inserted which is already in SQL. note that this job is taking only 1 min to execute.
But in this way our SQL Server getting hanged and it giving problems to other application running in the SQL SERVER.
So i m requesting all of you that what is the best way to insert huge amount of data on the real time basis.
Thanx in Advance.

1) Create Linked server
2) insert data using openquery  and set job in sql agent
3) run job after 15 minutes

    we have running R12.1.1 .
our company wants to deploy some CRM Application with sql server database. Continuously we have to insert data ( some fields from some tables of Order Management module ) from ORACLE -----------> SQL Server
    My Questions are :
    1. What are possible methods to insert data from ORACLE -----------------> SQL Server ?
    2. What are pros and cons of each method ?
    3. What is performance over load of each method ?

What is a maximal latency for data changed in Oracle come into MS SQL?
this data will be updated in CRM after 24 hours.Does it mean that data replicated from Oracle will be updated in MS SQL and should be replicated back?
i want to know more details about these APIs etc and middle layer.what API? In MS SQL you can use Linked server and write SQLs that select from Oracle tables via that linked server and insert/update/delete into MS SQL. You can organize these SQLs into T-SQL procedures and run them in jobs.
Also you can use MS SQL replication, snapshot or transactional, which is ugly because it places triggers on Oracle tables. I doubt that this will be approved by app vendor.
Also you can use Oracle Streams via Transparent Gateway for MS SQL, which will be quite heavy solution.
Also, if real-time replication is needed, you can use "middle layer" Oracle Golden Gate, which may be quite pricy for 30 tables.
Also, if real-time replication is needed, you can use 3-rd party middle layer like DataCurrents or others.

  • Inserting data from Oracle to SQL Server 2008

    Hi All,
I am using oracle 9.2.0.7 and SQL server 2008 in windows server 2003 operating system.
    My requirment is like below.
    1) I would liek to insert data from the Oracle database to SQL Server.
For the above requirement we have created the ODBC, then configure the listener file, tns file, and created the db link. This part is working fine as I am able to select the data from the SQL Server.
But when I am inserting the record from the oracle database to the SQL Server I am getting the error, (ORA-00904) Here oracle can not identified the column name.
My insert statement is like below.
    insert into test@SQLTEST (name, fullname)
    values ('Oracle', 'Oracle server data');
Test is the SQL server table name and sqltest is the db link name.
If I am select the data
select * from test@SQLTEST from Oralce I am getting the data properly.
    Thanks,

  • Pulling data from oracle into sql server 2005

    hi,
these days i am working on sql server 2005 on windows server 2008 64 bit.
and oracle 10g on 32 bit unix.
my problem is that when i am pulling data from oracle into sql server it shows me about *500-700 entries less*.
why this is happening? is it because 32 bit to 64bit? or is it because of different os?

    Akki,
are you using snapshot or replication from MSSQL? I am doing the same thing, hope to share your experience.
I am using import/export from MGT studio and pull some data from Oracle database, I am working on how to update the changes on these tables pulled from Oracle.

  • Migrating data from oracle to sql server

I have two databases(Oracle and Sql Server) in my company.
I want to migrate some data on daily basis from Oracle to Sql Server.
what are the best methodologies used to perform this task?
Can we schedule this task on daily basis?
    please help me guys

    Salma,
First and foremost, you need to understand that there are architectural difference between Oracle and SQL Server (with the major one being the difference between Oracle's PL/SQL and Microsoft's Transact-SQL) thus, it will not be an easy task to migrate data from Oracle Database to SQL Server. As far as the use of tools is concerned, you can utilize the following tools (third party tools not recommended) to achieve this:
Microsoft SQL Server Migration Assistant (Oracle to SQL)
    http://www.microsoft.com/sqlserver/2005/en/us/migration-oracle.aspx
Oracle SQL Developer Migration Workbench (SQL to Oracle)
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/migration//workbench/index_sqldev_omwb.html
But before proceeding with anything, I would recommend you to read through the following post as it lists down the primary compatibility resources and migration guidelines:
Migrating from Oracle to SQL Server
    http://vyaskn.tripod.com/oracle_sql_server_differences_equivalents.htm
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I connect to Oracle and SQL server at the same time?

I have been trying to find a way to connect to Oracle Database through the developer 2000 and SQL server at the same time. I need to return some data from Oracle Database and some from the Sql Server Database. And update both through SQL. I find there is such a thing as the Oracle Transparent Gateway for SQL server. I can't find it on any of my CD's or through OTN downloadable files. If anyone can point me where to get this. Or tell of another way this can be accomplished I would appreciate it. TIA.

As far as I know you have 3 options depending on your specifications. I don't think option #3 will work if you need to actually join a
SQL Server table to an Oracle table.
    1. Oracle Transparent Gateway. I haven't used the Oracle Transparent Gateway but my understanding is that Oracle gateways are
separate purchased products from Oracle. I've never seen any free/development versions of it anywhere. You'll need to contact
your Oracle sales rep about it.
    2. Heterogeneous Connectivity. There's something called Heterogeneous Connectivity that could work for you - depends on what
version of Oracle you're on and what OS. You basically set up an ODBC data source on the Oracle server and modify the listener.ora
and tnsnames.ora files. You can then create a database link to SQL Server just like you would to any other Oracle database. You can
check your Oracle documentation for how this works. There's also some very good documents on Metalink that tell you how to do this
as well as a Heterogeneous Connectivity forum on this site.
    3. Use the exec_sql package available in Developer 2000. This allows you to open and execute cursors to remote databases within
Developer. We have an account validation process that uses this - when a person enters an account number in a form while logged
into Oracle it validates the account is valid in our main accounting DB2 database. We also pull HR information from DB2 into Oracle
this way. If you're using Forms 6i exec_sql is a built-in command, in Forms 5.0 and 5.5 you have to add it as an attached library to
the form. I think you also need the OCA options installed from the Developer software to have access to the library in Forms 5.0 and
5.5. The library will be in the $ORACLE_HOME\oca20\plsqllib directory for these versions. The Developer documentation should have
    additional information.

  • Creating Database Link from Oracle to SQL Server

I am trying to create a database link from Oracle to SQL Server, and the documentation is about as clear as mud to me. Can anyone send me clear instructions on exactly what I need to do? What needs to be in tnsnames.ora and listener.ora files? Is there anything other than those two files that needs to be set up? Do I set up an ODBC connection? Anything else? I want to execute queries against a SQL Server database and load data into Oracle database.
    Thanks so much,
    Susan

These are the instructions from an old document I created. The steps are same for SQL Server and Sybase. Hope it helps.
The 9i Transparent Gateway Software is in Oracle Software CD -> oracle9i database -> Custom -> Oracle Transparent Gateways
The gateway can be installed on the same machine as the Oracle database or
on the Sybase server or on a third machine as a stand-alone.
We have installed the gateway software in one of oracle database
servers in a separate oracle home.
These are the steps involved in configuring a gateway to a Sybase database
    1.     Install Sybase client and Gateway software on the Gateway Server
    2.     Configure <initsidfile> in the Gateway Server's <gatewayhome>
         /u00/app/oracle/product/9.2.0/tg4sybs/admin/init<gatewaysid>.ora
Sybase server and database information is required for this step.
    eg: HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO=USTRUD01.uwd
    3.     Add an entry in listener.ora in <listnenerhome>
         (/u00/app/oracle/product/9.0.1/network/admin/listener.ora) for the <gatewaysid>
    4.     Edit the tnsnames file (/u00/app/oracle/product/9.0.1/network/admin/tnsnames.ora)
to add an entry <tnsalias> for the <gatewaysid>
    5.     Create a database link to the Sybase database in the oracle database.
The steps for creating the database link are
    a. create a login oracle_tgw in the sybase server
    b. add the user to the sybase database with the necessary privilege on the tables
    c. create the database link in the required oracle database using the command
"create public database link <dblinkname> connect to oracle_tgw identified by password using 'tnsalias'; "
    6.     Restart the gateway listener.

  • Error while converting schema from oracle to SQL server

    Hello,
I am getting following error while converting schema from oracle to SQL server using SSMA.
I get Errors 1-3 while migrating procedures and error 4 while migrating a table.
1- O2SS0050: Conversion of identifier 'SYSDATE' is not supported.
2- O2SS0050: Conversion of identifier 'to_date(VARCHAR2, CHAR)' is not supported.
3- O2SS0050: Conversion of identifier 'regexp_replace(VARCHAR2, CHAR)' is not supported.
4- O2SS0486: <Primary key name> constraint is disabled in Oracle and cannot be converted because SQL Server does not support disabling of primary or unique constraint.
    Please suggest.
    Thanks.

The exact statement in oracle side which causing this error (O2SS0050:
Conversion of identifier 'to_date(VARCHAR2, CHAR)' is not supported.) is below:
    dStartDate:= to_date(sStartDate,'MON-YYYY');
    Statement causing error O2SS0050:
Conversion of identifier 'regexp_replace(VARCHAR2, CHAR)' is not supported is below.
    nCount2:= length(regexp_replace(sDataRow,'[^,]'));
So there is no statement which is using to_date(VARCHAR2,
CHAR) and regexp_replace(VARCHAR2, CHAR) in as such. 'MON-YYYY'  and '[^,]'
are CHAR values hence SSMA is unable to convert it from varchar2 to char.
Regarding SYSDATE issue, you mean to put below code in target(SQL) side in SSMA ?
    dDate date := sysdate;
    Thanks.

  • How to insert Data from a function on server A into a table on Server B.

    Hi,
I have a function which is like this
    DECLARE @oldmax bigint, @newmax bigint
    SELECT @oldmax = max(exportTimestamp) FROM EXPORT_TIMESTAMPS
    IF @oldmax IS NULL
    SET @oldmax = 0
SELECT * FROM ServerA.TableA.fnExportTrafficTS(@oldmax) ORDER BY storeID, TrafDate
    SELECT @newmax = max(timestamp) FROM TRAFFIC t
    IF @newmax > @oldmax
    INSERT INTO EXPORT_TIMESTAMPS
    VALUES(@newmax, GETDATE())
And now i need to insert the data coming out of this function into ServerB Table B
And the column names and everything coming out of the function is the same columns in Table B.So, no need to worry there.
I have never worked with inserting data from function through linked server.
Can someone please help me with this?
    Thanks,
    Sujith

Well, first of all, your table structure doesn't match the structure of returned table by your table-valued function.
This is what table valued function returns:
    [storeID] varchar(32) default('noRefID'),
    [TrafDate] [datetime] default(NULL),
    [QtyTraffic] [float] default(0)
And this is what your table structure is:
    [tUTL_JobLogging_Key] [int] NOT NULL,
    [StoreId] [varchar](10) NULL,
    [TrafDate] [datetime] NULL,
    [Visits] [numeric](8, 2) NULL
Apart from different size for the StoreID and using float vs. numeric and different name for the last column, there is one extra column in your table.
So, this is the first problem you need to correct.
Also, please post how exactly you're calling your procedure? E.g. the procedure has 2 parameters, but the values of them are not used as you're calculating them in the code. So, I assume they should not be parameters for the procedure.

    Heterogeneous Connectivity

  • Oracle DB Link from Oracle to SQL Server

    Dear buddies,
I am trying to create a dblink from Oracle to SQL Server.
    This is my tnsnames.ora
    sq =
    (DESCRIPTION=
       (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=LOCALHOST)(PORT=1521)
       (CONNECT_DATA=(SID=sq))
       (HS=OK)
    )This is my listener
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
      (SID_LIST =
          (SID_DESC =
          (SID_NAME = sq)
          (ORACLE_HOME = D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_2)
          (PROGRAM = hsodbc)
    LISTENER =
      (DESCRIPTION =
        (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = localhost)(PORT = 1521))
      )initsq.ora
    # This is a sample agent init file that contains the HS parameters that are
    # needed for an ODBC Agent.
    # HS init parameters
    HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = sq
    HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL  = OFF
    # Environment variables required for the non-Oracle system
#set <envvar>=<value>I have created my System DSN for sq with the appropriate values which works fine when I tested the connection.
These 2 databases are in different servers.
This is how I created the db link in Oracle
    create public database link sq
CONNECT TO XXX IDENTIFIED BY "XXX"
    using 'sq'
    select "Column1"
from "Table1"@'sq';The error I receive is: ORA-01729: database link name expected
When I try to recreate the database link it tells me that: ORA-02011: duplicate database link name
I hope someone could guide me.
    Thanks.
