Inserting new section creates 2 pages at a time, cannot delete one

Hi,
Building out a series of two page templates, and I cannot insert a blank page, or even duplicate, without pages creating two new pages. When I try to delete one, both vanish.
When I duplicate, the third page matches the original first, and there is then also a blank second page between both.
My main page does have a full bleed rectangle serving as the fill color if that makes any difference.

I have my default template set with wrap turned off. Inserted objects then don't cause these problems. Before turning wrap off I set the extra space/gutter to 2 points rather than the default 12 points.
Here are the full instructions I wrote some time ago for setting up your own template.
You need to create your own default template. Set up your document with the margins, headers, etc. as you'd like. Redefine all of the paragraph & character styles to have your desired font.
While you're at it, you might want to set default styles for all objects, text boxes, tables, paragraph styles, etc. Start with a blank document & insert an object. Change the color, wrap, etc. to your choosing & then go to Format > Advanced > Define Default Shape Style then delete the object. Repeat with an image/photo, a text box & a table.
Now, save this as a template then, in Pages > Preferences, select this template as the default for new documents. All of your new documents will have these settings for inserted objects, images & tables. Unfortunately, the settings won't apply to any other templates or "foreign" documents you open with Pages.

That is Pages for iPad v2.0, which Pages '09 v4.3 can't read.
You need to either stick with the older version of Pages on the iPad or get Pages 5 for the Mac which is only available if you are running OSX 10.9 Mavericks.
Unfortunately that is not the end of your woes because Apple has made iCloud convert the files to Pages 5 now, and Pages 5 has over 90 features deleted on top of doing a shocking job of converting older Pages files.

You can't. Why on earth would you attempt to manage 2500 emails with setting up a folder structure or some means of doing so? Simply keeping them in an single inbox is not realistic, no matter what email client you use.

Create a new Section in Pages Beta

I've uploaded my Pages document in which I create new sections to modify the Header I use.
Can't see how to create a new section in iCloud Pages Beta.

It sounds as if what you are wanting to do in the Pages application is to insert a Page Break. Follow the steps in this article -
Pages '09: Inserting a Page Break
In a word processing document, click where you want the break to occur, and then choose Insert > Page Break.
To remove a page break, click at the beginning of the line that follows the break and press the Delete key.
In a page layout document, to insert a new page in your document, click Pages in the toolbar and choose from the template page options available.

My new version of Pages crashes any time I ask him to Print, other programmes print from the same computer. Does anyone know why this might be?

Last week I installed Mavericks and I cannot print with the new version of pages anymore.
Every time I click on print and/or I press ctl +p the programme crashes and it allegedly reports Apple about my problem, but nothing happens.
Could anyonw help me please?

Have you tried using the PAges '09 that should still be in your Applications/iWork folder?

Creating Pages in PeopleSoft with more than one HTML Form

We've a requirement to create a page in PIA with more than one HTML form.
As per PBooks - "The page being developed cannot be built using PeopleSoft Application Designer.
An example of this is a page that requires more than one HTML form.
PeopleSoft Pure Internet Architecture places the entire page inside of a single form tag, so no other HTML form tags can be added.
In this case the requirements of the page can't be met by pages created in PeopleSoft Application Designer, so use IScripts instead."

When I insert new data on an existing graph, the graph deletes

When I insert new data on an existing graph (for example, just adding a new year of data) and press insert, it just deletes the graph entirely. My only option is to recreate the entire graph which is frustrating because I lose its format and colors. Any suggestions?

Here I opened the existing chart, with the old data. I need to remove the oldest year and add a new year. Which I do below:
When I press the check mark, or enter, the graph details all delete.

They are all part of one Section. Just as you do not (hopefully) rip pages out at random from books, the pages of a Section are linked by the text that flows from one to the other.
If you want to move or delete particular page/s Insert a Section Break at the end of the page before.

I created 2 apple IDs, can i delete one.

I created 2 apple ID's. One with an email I dont' really use and have the mail forwarded to a newer account and the other was created using my me.com email that I don't use as my email either. I'd like to keep the first apple ID, its the one that is used most. But then I can't tie my me.com email to my icloud because it thinks that it is a separate person ans asks me to choose a different me.com amil user name. What can I do? Can I delete one or both and start over. But I have purchases on the first account I dont want to lose.

I think I can answer this, based on my own frustrating experiences with Apple IDs.

That is correct.

No, not to my knowledge. Once created, an Apple ID exists forever.
You described the problem correctly - you created a @me.com Apple ID that you use for iCloud, and it would be simple to use it for everything. I think that is what you ought to do.
Delete the email address associated with the first Apple ID, since that ID doesn't correspond to an email address you use any longer anyway. Then, add it to the @me.com account. I have attempted to have identical email addresses exist for two different Apple IDs and it didn't let me, though I have heard of people who did this successfully. I cannot explain the discrepancy.
Once you delete the email address from the first Apple ID, it may take a few moments for their system to recognize it is no longer associated with anything. After that you should be able to add it to the @me.com account.
But I have purchases on the first account I dont want to lose.
That's a problem. The purchases will remain with the first Apple ID. It's up to you to determine if they're worth purchasing again, since that is what will be required if you intend to associate those purchases with the @me.com ID.
If anyone has any better ideas please let me know.

CS 5 exports two pages at a time instead of one.

I copied the following script from the Internet into notepad, saved it, and renamed it "spreads.jsx". I put it into my scripts file. It didn't do anything. app.interactivePDFExportPreferences.exportReaderSpreads = !app.interactivePDFExportPreferences.exportReaderSpreads
I removed the facing pages check. My pages still exported two pages to a page. I then created a new document without the facing pages checked. I copied the 21 of my original file into the new file. It still exported two pages on one.

I turned off shuffling, and that didn't help either. It was unclear what to drag in the Pages Panel.

Someone, maybe you, suggested I start a new thread about the video. I
posted it to the forum under:
"I solved the export single page issue and now my videos won't work." Here
is the text:
I have windows 7 for 64 bit.
I ran a script on my InDesign CS 5 document to solve the problem with two
pages appearing on one .pdf file. When I clicked on it, here is what I
get “Spreads are now ON in Interactive PDF Preferences.”
I get two pages stuck together in my interactive .pdf file. I don’t want
that because it prints to pages on a single sheet and I want each page to
print separately. However, my three .f4v videos appear the way I want and run
perfectly, even though I got the error message, “One or more interactive
elements are clipped in ways that PDF files cannot reproduce. Those elements
will be adjusted in the exported PDF. “
When I click on the script again, it says, “Spreads are now OFF in
Interactive PDF Preferences.”
The pages are the way I want. Now my videos don’t behave. Video 1 vanished
into a red border with blank inside. Video 2 has moved half way up the
page, covering two photos, but it plays. Video 3 has just white space in its
position.
Next, I tried another script. When I ran it I got the message, “Shuffling
pages will remove some page transitions. To avoid this message in the
future, uncheck allow Document Pages to Shuffle in the Pages panel. Select OK to
continue.” I hit okay several times and the message kept appearing again
and again. I finally clicked “Don’t show again” and it went away. I got the
same error message as before. The videos are all screwed up, like before.
I toggled that script and exported again, and got the same error message.
This time, as before, the videos were messed up, but this time one of the
videos was off the page, but played.
Is there any way I can keep one page to one in the .pdf AND have my videos
work?

New dupes but with different names, how to delete one set

I imported a set of CR2, converted them to dng and removed the cr2 from the catalog. Yes, there are better ways to do this. I failed to notice that I had checked the rename box with original name, which I left blank. So every photo begins "untitled". But no two have the same file name, so "untitled-2-92" and "untitled-2-93" are the same shot. Any way to filter for odd or even numbered file names? Take delete and try again? Any idea what happened? I only did the one import.

There are a couple of options for handling this. By far the easiest is to delete the LR catalog file, restart Lightroom and allow it to create a new catalog. Then you can just start over with a fresh import. This is dependent upon you having your original CR2 files available. If not or you have other photos you have already stored in Lightroom, this is not the the option for you. If you do, use the Copy As DNG option. This would also be a really good time to create a file renaming template. This is done using the File Renaming panel which is located in the right-hand panel during import. Set up your options and then save it as a new template. You will then have it whenever you do an import. It is really very flexible and I am sure you can configure it to give you what will work for you.
Okay, so what to do if you can't just start over? You will have to work within Lightroom to remove the photos you do not want. In Library mode, you have a filter bar available. If you don't see it, use the slash (\) key to toggle it back on. Select the Text option. Right below the filter bar will be two drop down boxes and a search text box. Select Filename from the Text drop down and leave Contains all in the second drop down. In the search field, enter something common to what you want to delete such as "untitled-2-". This will show only files that contain the text "untitled-2-" anywhere in the filename. Next, select each of the files you want to delete. Once everything you want is selected, use the Photo/Remove Photo... menu option to delete them (or you can also just hit the <DELETE> key). Lightroom will prompt you to delete them from just the catalog or from both the catalog and delete the actual file from the disk. If you want the dups to be gone for good, select the option to delete them from the disk as well.
A variation on the above is to use the <x> key to flag the photo as a reject. What this will do is dim the photo in both the film strip at the bottom of the screen as well as in the grid. This gives you a chance to change your mind before removing them. To use this approach, simply select the photos in either the grid or the film strip and press the <x> key or use the flag keys from the toolbar which are between the sort parameter and the color labels. The one with the 'x' on the flag will set the rejected flag (you can also use the menu item Photo/Set Flag). A photo will stay flagged as rejected until you unflag it. What this does for you is uncouples the selection of the photos and the actual removal of them from your system. When you reach the point where only photos not dimmed are the ones you want to keep, you can proceed with the removal of the rejected photos. For this, use the Photos/Delete Rejected Photos menu option.As above, Lightroom will ask whether to also remove the files from the disk as well.
One last comment on how the filters work. Filters are applied only to the photos being displayed in the grid. For example, if you allowed Lightroom to import photos into dated folders, Lightroom will create a folder for each date it finds during the import. So, if you went on a three day trip and took photos on each of the three days, Lightroom would create three folder, one for each day, and populate them with only the photos you took on that day. In Library mode, the left hand side of the screen will show you your folders. If you are at the top level, Lightroom will show you all of your photos and that is what the filter will be applied to, However, if you are positioned on a sub-folder, the filter will be applied only to the photos that live within that sub-folder and any sub-folders contained within it. This can be an advantage if you want to clean up in smaller chunks but it means you need to keep track of what has been cleaned up so you don't miss anything.
Finally, Lightroom has an option which can be found on the right hand side of the Import screen that is used to tell Lightroom what to do with duplicate files. You can import them which will give you a -x (where x is a number) appended to the name if the same name already exists or you can tell Lightroom to Not Import Suspected Duplicates. If this is checked, Lightroom will not import an photo it thinks is already imported. Lightroom really doesn't know if the file is a duplicate of not. It looks at file attributes such as file name, capture date, file size and such to make that determination. It is still possible to get duplicate files imported so you will get the occasional photo with the -x suffix but many fewer than if you re-import a stream of photos a second or third time.
Lightroom does have the ability to delete the original file when you do a conversion from RAW to DNG. As each photo is validated and converted to DNG, the old RAW file is removed but you have to set the option as part of the conversion. This is useful if you do your RAW photo import and then convert to DNG later.

Mac Book Pro only lets me type one letter at a time and delete one letter at a time without the quick speed..

When I hole o e ketter down it will frezze at that one letter. I can't hold a character down and have it repeat.
The same with the delete button. I have to manually delete each letter, one at a time. I can't have it in "speed mode" where you hole it don and it just keeps going.

Have you checked the settings for repeat rate and delay in System Preferences > Keyboard > keyboard tab?

Every time I add a section break it inserts a blank page prior to the new section.

I cannot duplicate the unwanted extra blank page when adding a new section in Pages v5.5.2. Are you using a template other than blank?
You can remove the unwanted page by choosing View > Show Invisibles. Then, scroll backwards in your document until you get to the first occurrence of the following section or page break. You can tell if it is a page break because in thumbnail view, the page icon is smaller that the section icon.
Double-click this line to select, and then press the delete key. Your extraneous page (or section) is now gone.

New Page numbers for Sections in Pages 5.2

Hi, I can't figure out to how to start numbering pages from 1 in a new section using Pages 5.2.
I've tried to add new sections via both the Inspector and Insert > Add Section Break, but when I attempt to insert page numbers in the header of a new section, it's still not starting at 1.

See what I mean? I've successfully created the new section, but it still wants number the first page of a section with 2.

You cannot create pages at run time, however you can decide based upon conditions and using commands in Smartforms, which page needs to be displayed next.
Those pages should be created beforehand.
