Install 9.0.2.2 patchset

i am installing the OID 9.0.2.2 patchset (2682125) and the instructions say to unzip OID9022.ZIP in the ORACLE_HOME. however i cannot find the OID9022.ZIP file anywhere. Can someone please tell me where to locate this file. it was not in the p2682125_9021_WINNT.zip file either.

I have this file and can send it to you if you post your email address.

  • Installing 9.2.0.7 patchset in windows 2000

    Hi,
I have upgraded the 8.1.7 database to 9.2.0.1. I have downloaded the 9.2.0.7 patchset to patch the 9i Oracle home, but when I double click on setup from the patch directory the OUI screen is not appearing, it just opens a dos window and displays that the preparing to lauch Oracle universal Installer from c:\winnt40\profiles\administrator\locals~1\temp\orainsta.... and then the window gets closed.
I checked through task manager that process javaw.exe is running, but nothing happens on the screen.
I am not able to install the patch. please help me.
    thanks
    clinton

The DOS window is doing some prerequisite checks in the background. If it is getting hung up, I recommend rebooting and checking the oracle install log for details. There should be something in there. It could be that a service isn't started (like the Messenger Service), or that it is trying to contact the various nodes in your RAC and failing.
More details from the install log would help to debug this.

  • Patchset vs patches

    Hi all,
I am not a DBA and am a bit confused about patches and patchsets.
I have read about them and I would just like confirmation, please.
    From what I understand:
Patches are individual fixes for the Oracle database, which you can install one by one.
Patchsets instead contain all fixes to bugs that have been found in the version of Oracle Database in question, and get released not as frequently as Patches, i.e. once a quarterly.
If this is the case, can I assume that patchset for Oracle 11.2.0.2 released in July 2011 would contain all the fixes of individual patches for Oracle 11.2.0.2 released up to July 2011?
i.e. would this patchset coniatn the fix for Patch 9824435: ORA-600: INTERNAL ERROR CODE, ARGUMENTS: [KOKEGPINLOB1] that was released on 23rd March 2011?
    My assumption is yes.
How can I determine what patchset has been installed against a DB (the opatch seems to only return patches) and what was fixed within that patchset?
    Thanks very much in advance.

    Could you just clarify, please:
The reply from 909592 seems to indicate that the July 2011 patchset would change the version from 11.2.0.1 to 11.2.0.2 applying all the individual fixes for 11.2.0.2. (11.2.0.1 not 0.2)Yes, if you apply all the patch sets till July 2011 then your db version will change to 11.2.0.1
The link from mbk77 seems to indicate that the July 2011 patchset may contain all the fixes for 11.2.0.2 up to July 2011. The article also seems to indicate that if you use PSU you should not go back to install individual patches. If you apply the all the CPU available then there is no need to apply the individual patches which were relesed prior to that.CPU contains only commulative cpu patches. And cpu patches are only security patches.
    >
    >
So, if the DBA states that the install of 11.2.0.2 was done with all the psu up to and including July 2011, could I assume that patches released for 11.2.0.2 prior to July 2011 (as per the example earlier mentioned) have been included?Oracle Critical Patch Updates (CPU) will contain both the PSU and CPU, so the DBA may choose to apply a whole CPU or only the selected patches in the PSU patch bundle. This is not correct AFAIK. CPU doesn't contain PSU(patchset update , which includes the BUG fixes). CPU only contains the security patches. However PSU does contain the CPU patches.

Go through the below doc once...
    http://www.oracle.com/us/support/assurance/leveraging-cpu-wp-164638.pdf?ssSourceSiteId=otnen
    @OP,
Its recommended to apply latest PSU based on your release i.e 11.2.0.2.0 (this will include all previouds PSU as well as CPU).
The Database Patch Set Updates and Critical Patch Updates that are released each quarter contain the same security fixes. However, they use different patching mechanisms, and Patch Set Updates include both security and recommended bug fixes. Consider the following guidelines when you are deciding to apply Patch Set Updates instead of Critical Patch Updates.
Critical Patch Updates are applied only on the base release version, for example 11.2.0.x.0
Patch Set Updates can be applied on the base release version or on any earlier Patch Set Update. For example, 11.1.0.7.2 can be applied on 11.1.0.7.1 and 11.1.0.7.0.
Once a Patch Set Update has been applied, the recommended way to get future security content is to apply subsequent Patch Set Updates. Reverting from an applied Patch Set Update back to the Critical Patch Update, while technically possible, requires significant time and effort, and is not advised.
Applying a Critical Patch Update on an installation with a Patch Set Update installed is not supported.
For more information on Patch Set Updates, see Note 854428.1, Patch Set Updates for Oracle Products.Hope this help

To use 11G database as repository for 10204 oms,
what we need to do here ?
) Install 10.2.0.1 oms by pointing to supported
repository for 10201GC in software-only mode
    ./runInstaller -noconfig
    2) Install 10.2.0.4 patchset in software-only mode
    3) Run config assistants for base install
    4) Run config assistants for patchset
    5) stop all the opmn, ias control, agent
    6) upgrade the database to 11G

  • 140476-01 installed but cannot validate patches

This is on a Solaris 9 system (sparc) which was way behind on patches (more than a year) and was recently brought up to date. smpatch was working before, but no longer.
Patch 140476-01 is installed but the default patchpro.patchset is still current. I have set it to current2 manually.
smpatch analyze shows some outstanding patches, but smpatch update gives me nothing but 'cannot be validated' errors, which I thought patch 140476-01 was supposed to handle (it works fine on other s9 systems).

select count(*) from dba_objects where status != 'VALID'
select * from dba_registryOnce upgraded check if the same objects are invalid, if not then you have to make it valid.

  • Installing ODBC and JDBC drivers

I have recently downloaded JDBC drivers from the Oracle driver download page.
    How do I install them?

JDBC drivers aren't generally "installed" in the standard sense. They're just JAR files-- you put them in your CLASSPATH and you're done.
For ODBC drivers, you need to install the Oracle client, then you can use the Oracle Universal Installer that's part of the client install to install the latest ODBC driver patchset.

Oracle Email Server 5.2.0 is installed in Windows 2000 Server
And on my network I have a Exchange Server
My first problem is that I can’t find any Windows sendmail to connect my Oracle email Server. I have found a sendmail “copy”( http://www.indigostar.com/sendmail.htm) but only use command line to send/receive emails.
And Second, how to connect my Oracle Email Server to my Exchange network? Only a smtp/pop connector between the two will do?

    JailBreak

    Hi JailBreak!
I know that the 8.1.7 version of the database on Linux was not perfect.
The approach you took is somewhat valid but be aware that there are some issues (at least I hit them in my last project with HP-UX) where the combination of Oracle 9i with the ES 5.2.2 is tricky (need the patch libraries in the 9i tree and so on.
So my advise would be the following:
    - Install an 8.1.7 software tree - build no db yet (you already did this)
    - Install the ES 5.2 - do not run the imconfig yet
    - Install the ES 5.2 Patchset 2
    - Build a database
    - Run the imconfig
    - Configure sendmail
This will work! I did this so often I can guarantee you that this will work.
However be careful - the configuration of the EMail Center is very dificult and the documentation is somewhat vague about which values to fill in.
Try to have an english setup of the EMC as it makes life easier to compare the screens with the manuals.

  • Connection to MySQL via ODBC not working

    Hello all together,
I've got a problem with the ODBC connection to MySQL. The connection via ODBC is established and things like tnsping are working.
When I select some data within the SQL*Plus environment, I get no real result. For example "select table_name from all_tables@mysql;" returns nothing.
    My entry in listener.ora:
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
    (SID_LIST =
    (SID_DESC =
    (SID_NAME=odbc_mysql)
    (ORACLE_HOME=D:\oracle\product\11.0.1\db_1)
    (PROGRAM=dg4odbc)
    My entry in tnsnames.ora:
    MYSQL =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = localhost)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA = (SID=odbc_mysql))
    (HS=OK)
    The initodbc_mysql.ora in ORACLE_HOME/hs/admin/:
    HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = odbc_mysql
    HS_AUTOREGISTER = TRUE
    HS_DB_NAME = hsodbc
I tried some modifications but I still get no data from mysql database. When I try "select * from customer@mysql;" I get the correct number of records, the correct column names, but the content is always "¬¬¬¬". The odbc driver works, because with MS Access I can fetch the data. I'm using Oracle 11g Release 1 EE and MySQL ODBC 5.1.5.
What could be the reason for this?
    Greetings,
    Joerg

created in my UTF-8 Mysql DB your table and inserted a record; the select shows:
    SQL> select * from "movieclass"@mysql;
    idClass
    ClassName
    123
    H e l l o
As you can see the content is there, the "space" between the letters is related to unicode. Each character is interpreted by 2 bytes and SQL*Plus wrongly displays both. Using iSQLPLus or SQLDeveloper does not show the "space" between the letters.
    Here the data type mapping:

    Am wondering if there is a patch / patchset for Win 2003 Enterprise systems ( 32 bit ) with 11.1.0.6 DB's ?
Specifically to up it to 11.1.0.7 ?
Metalink shows there is a Patch 17 Bug fix ; but no upgrade to 11.1.0.7

  • Migration oracle database 8.1.7.3 to 10.2.0.2

    Hi,
I have a problem to migrate my database in 8.1.7.3 to 10.2.0.2 on different database server because the size fo this database is 2200Gigas.
With RMAN or copy it's not possible because the database version are different.
The solution is the export/import but it's probably too long.
    Anybody have a solution

The other solution is "Database Upgrade". Here are the basic steps whci you can perform for this:
    1) Install oracle 8i (with same patchset as the old one) and oracle 10g on new server
    2) Restore the RMAN backup of your 8i database on new server and start the database using 8i home.
    3) Apply 8.1.7.4 patch on 8i DB
    4) Either run DBUA or use manual update to update you 8i DB to 10g
Here is the doc for Database Upgrade process:

  • Indexing and Searching PDF Files

    Hi All,
I am trying to store and search PDF files in the oracle database.
I can insert and index the PDF files just fine but cannot get any result. I always get No Rows.
Here's what I am doing and the issues I am facing.
I created a Table with fields
    ID (VARCHAR)
    NAME (VARCHAR)
    DOC (BLOB)
I inserted the PDF file in the BLOB field through a Java program and insert worked fine as I verified by retreiving the PDF and writing to file.
I created index using following SQL:
create index my_index on PDF_TABLE(PDF_FLD) indextype is ctxsys.context
    parameters ('datastore ctxsys.default_datastore
    filter ctxsys.inso_filter');
The index was created successfully without any problems.
I ran query as follows and got no rows although the searched text is in PDF
SELECT SCORE(1), PDF_FLD from PDF_TABLE WHERE CONTAINS (PDF_FLD, 'Table of Cotents',
    1) > 0;
I tried alternate queries as well with no luck.
    Any ideas ??
    Thanks

After creation the index you need execute next operations.
first, check that your index tables conatins indexed terms. Execute
    select token_text from dr$YOUR_INDEX$i;
Second, you will need to check the index errors table CTX_INDEX_ERRORS. This is owned by the user CTXSYS, and most users do NOT have # SELECT privilege to it by default.
If it's OK, then check that your PDF documents is supported by INSO filter.

Acrobat Versions 2.1, 3.0, 4.0, and 5.0 including Japanese PDF"

For Oracle 9i you could install 9.2.0.4 patchset (it included INSO FILTER 7.5)

  • 10.1.0.4.0 installation on linux

    Hi,
I want to perform backup check on 10.1.0.4 oracle enterprise edition on Linux box (32bit).
I'm not able to find download link for 10.1.0.4 from metalink.
Please give me exact download link for 10.1.0.4 including all patchsets.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
We have 10.1.0.4 oracle version on machine1.
We need same 10.1.0.4 oracle version on machine2.
It means i want to perform fresh oracle installation on machine2.
What are all the steps need to be followed to achive 10.1.0.4.0 version?
I'm not sure on 10gR1 which one is base version.
Please need your suggestion and download link for this. The base release of 10.1 is *10.1.0.2*, first you need to Install this base release then on top of this you need to Install 10.1.0.4 patchset.
The base release software can be downloaded from http://edelivery.oracle.com and the patchset 10.1.0.4 can be downloaded from http://support.oracle.com as updated in my previous update, but to download this patchset you need to have a valid CSI number.
    For example to achive 10.2.0.4
    First step : 10.2.0.1.0 fresh install(base version)
2nd step : 10.2.0.4.0(patch set)Yes to achieve 10.2.0.4 you need to first Install base version and patchsets can be applied on top of base release.
Please follow instructions from README file of patchsets which you are applying.
    Hope its clear now :)
    thanks,
