Install AS 9.0.4 on AIX 5.3-01

We made a successfully installation of AS 9.0.4 on AIX 5.3, but we cannot do the same installation on AIX 5.3-01.
We are looking for some experience. The installation crash during OID wizard (MR+IM).

This is the same problem that we have encountered installing 8.1.7 clients on AIX 4.3.3 and 5.2. However I did successfully install it on one AIX 4.3.3 machine. Comparing the oracle logs there are no differences in the successful and unsuccessful installs until the point netasst hangs. All the machines are definitely set to run the 32 bit kernel.

    Hi Milos,
The problem is with the starting of the SCS instance by sapinst, on AIX the port that we used (SAP default) 3901 during the input step for SCS was in usage at AIX by some application
nimsh 3901/tcp # NIM Service Handler
nimsh 3901/udp # NIM Service Handler
I had to free up the port for some time, stop processes running on the port and then continued with my installation. After the installation was complete, I changed the port number of SCS to 3601 and gave the port back to AIX application.
Beaware that you have to change the port number is various places, including Config tool, all the JSPM, Configtool properties
Check if this helps to resolve your problem, else I will have to recollect if I resolved it differently.
    Regards,
    Nilesh

  • Install ERP 6.0 EHP5 With AIX DB2

    Good Morning:
we will Install ERP 6.0 EHP5 With AIX DB2, please, notes and/or information about size of all file system, and tips for take into account
    Thanks
    vhms

    Hello Victor,
Best way is to go through the Installation Guide thoroughly, every needed information and notes and tips as well are clearly mentioned in the guide.
service.sap.com/instguides --> SAP Business suite --> SAP ERP --> SAP ERP 6.0 --> SAP enhancement packages for SAP ERP 6.0  --> SAP enhancement package 5 for SAP ERP 6.0 --> New Installation of SAP ERP 6.0 Enhancement Package 5
Just do not skip this info -
You can install a new system with SAP ERP 6.0 enhancement package 5. After the installation the technical usage "Central Application" is already installed
After installation with 'central application' , you need to upgrade rest of the ecc components to EhP5. Read the Guide.
    Thanks

What am I missing? Thank you.

This seems like a corrupt image.
Try to download this again and doublecheck that you are selecting the correct OS.
Otherwise ask Oracle to ship the DVD's/CD's.

  • Cant install oracle 8.1.7 on aix 4.3.3

because of internal issues, i have used my pc to copy the 2 install
cd's onto a unix box to try and install from there.
the 2 disks are on the unix box and i can read all the files.
i run runinstaller from the disk1 directory and it asks if i have run 'rootpre.sh' which i answer yes.
it changes directory to install/aix and then
    it runs ./runInstaller $* &
    then it says the following
$ The Java RunTime Environment was not found at bin/jre. Hence, the Oracle Universal Installer cannot be run.
Please visit http://www.javasoft.com and install JRE version 1.1.8 or higher and try again.
now i am not sure of the context. there is no relative directory bin with jre there. i do a which and i can see the jre /usr/bin/jre ( which is 1.1.8 ).
    what am i missing here?
i assume i am missing a variable or something..
the docs seem to say the only required setting is DISPLAY and PATH
    my PATH is /usr/bin:/etc:/usr/sbin:/usr/ccs/bin:/usr/ucb:/usr/bin/X11:/sbin
    any ideas?

    Hi, Guys:
I got the same problem. I couldn't install Oracle 8.1.7 on my
new system with P4 1.5G and Windows 2000. I downloaded Windows
service pack 2 and updated my OS. It still didn't work. It is
obvious that the problem is in Oracle 8.1.7. It can not work
with P4. The Universal Installer of Oracle couldn't run under
the P4 envirnment. Some expert introduced workaround. It was not
working for everyone. So who can solve this problem or who can
tell me whether Oracle has created patch to fix this up? By the
way, can Oracle 9i work with P4 and windows 2000? Thanks.

  • Error installing 9.2.0.4 on AIX 5L

    Hello,
I am trying to install Oracle9i DB patch 9.2.0.4 on a 64-bit AIX 5L system that currently has 9.2.0.1 installed.
The installation went well until it tried to link "Generic Connectivity Using ODBC Patch". The installer spent a long time in this step and makefile.log prints a bunch of warnings. For example:
ld: 0711-224 WARNING: Duplicate symbol: .nlemgmz
ld: 0711-773 WARNING: Object /opt/oracle/OraHome1/ldap/lib/s0gslmod.o, imported symbol optind
Symbol was expected to be local. Extra instructions
are being generated to reference the symbol.
ld: 0711-783 WARNING: TOC overflow. TOC size: 100416     Maximum size: 65536
Extra instructions are being generated for each reference to a TOC
symbol if the symbol is in the TOC overflow area.
And finally when the status shows it is about 99% completed, the installer suddenly quits with "bus error". The installation log shows:
Starting install install phase 2 of component Oracle Net Required Support Files Patch

    Exception Severity: 2
However, the missing file eelib.1.1.jar was there a minute ago and the installer somehow moved/removed it. I tried to copy a backup there and the installer complained missing the same file but from another location...
Could someone help me determine what is the problem with this installation and how to fix it? How critical are the warnings that I saw earlier?
    Thanks for the help!

I just tried that but got another error:

  • Installing HTML DB on the existing AIX oracle 9.2.0.4 database

    Hi,
I am new to HTML DB and want to know how to install this on the existing oracle 9i database at AIX 4.3.3 OS. Can anyone please tell me is it possible to install on the same existing oracle home or does it have to be installed in a separate Oracle Home?? Please let me know where are the DOCS for installing on the AIX OS? Is there a step by step install guide for AIX? And a user guide?
    Thanks!

    Scott,
I tried to log in to the database using the same username/password/connect string as was in wdbsvr.app and was successful. It's not a SQL*NET issue. When I tried from the browser still get the same page not found error with no errors in the apache log that means it's connecting to the database but not finding the right page?? All this I am trying from 9i oracle home. The Apache log says:

  • Installing a Grid Management agent on AIX 5.3

I have downloaded the Grid Management Agent 10.2.0.3.0 for Oracle 10G from the oracle downloads website and installed on one of my AIX servers but after running through the installation the server does not show up in Grid Control.
Our Grid Control is running on RH4 server.
The platform of the host server i am attempting to install the agent on is AIX5.3
I downloaded and unzipped the following file AIX_Grid_Control_agent_download_10_2_0_3_0.zip
I ran the i./runInstaller from the aix/agent directory no errors reported however when I did this it did not show me a OUI page as I expected where I could insert Grid hostname etc
I assumed after running the installer I would then see the target host appear in my grid control server but no servernmae/agenst/db appears in grid control for this host
I have read a plethora of help/installation files on this subject matter and there seems to be a variety of different ways users are saying to install.
Some WebPages/help files say simply run the installer from the root directory of the Enterprise Manager DVD others give a completely different way of installing.
Can anyone who has successfully loaded on a Grid Management Agent give me any pointers as to:
1 – Why my installation appears to have failed
2 – A stepe by step guide on what users need to be added if any, what account I should install under etc

sorry it has taken me time to post back.
