Install Camera Raw 6 Update from Camera Raw 5 in LR, CS4

I tried to install the Camera Raw Update 6.3 when installing LR 3.3. No Go on the Camera Raw. 3.3 is OK. However Raw update now requires a CS5 Application so the patching app can run. Since I have CS4 that doesn't work. Is there a manual install for Camera Raw 6. I know or can find where it goes, I think. If Adobe will take a breath and step back to users who have supported applications LR and CS4 users might be able to use these updates. As of now it doesn't appear that I can. Does anyone else have this experience?

Thanks Ian and I'm sure that is exctly true .. but ... I was under the impression that CS 5 included Camera Raw 6.3 when downloaded.  I have been on "Trial" for a few days but will use our NAPP discount and buy it today.
Following your suggestion, I went to Adobe.com Downloads and only saw 6.3 "upgrade"  Downloaded it and clicked the dmg but what opens up is nothing toward actual installation as an App or Plug-in.  Normally the Adobe Installer takes over.
I guess it is possible that when I "upgrade" to the "bought" this may all unravel ... but, being an old engineer with highly eexperienced skepticism I would like to know  ...
Can you clarify??
Really appreciate you folks that help on these forums ... hard to express just how much!!

  • Bluetooth module not present after installing 10.5.7 update from 10.5.6

After installing the 10.5.7 update on my unibody macbook, I can not see the bluetooth option in the mouse preferences. and when i go into the mouse preferences i get the following error message. "The Bluetooth tab of keyboard & mouse preferences is hidden because you don't have a Bluetooth module installed or attached to you computer".
This occured after i installed 10.5.7 update. It was working fine before this.
I have tried restarting my system without success.
Is there a way to roll back to 10.5.6?
    Message was edited by: psybonix

    Update:
Applied Bluetooth firmware update this weekend and so far my mighty mouse disconnects a little more often than it did before the update. I was beginning to think it was solving itself as the disconnects seemed fewer and less often until the firmware update. May be coincidental, but it looks like the firmware update, at the very least, was not meant to address this particular problem. I guess I'm going to have to buy a wired mouse.
Let's see now, starting with 10.5.5 my MBP has been plagued with frequent wifi disconnects and starting with 10.5.7 the bluetooth drops out frequently. This is very aggravating.

  • How to install Windows 8.1 update from Windows 8 on MacBook Pro)?

I have a MacBook Pro (Late 2011) running OS Mavericks and Windows 8 Pro on Bootcamp.
I want to install Windows 8.1 on my Win 8 partition, but I have no idea how to do it. Most preferably, I wouldn't want to lose all of my files.
Could someone help me with step-by-step instructions?
    Thanks!

You'll be fine with 8.1 it is supported by Apple, first install the new boot camp drivers from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1720
Launch windows update and install any requires updates then restart. Go into the (windows) App Store and you'll see the option to download 8.1. It will keep all your apps, files, etc.

It says:  "Could not save preferences because the file is locked or you do not have the necessary access privileges.  Use the Get Info Command in Finder to unlock the file or change permissions on the file or enclosing folders."
This comes up every tome I try to save and close a photo.  I have unlocked it and given permission for read and write to anyone .  Can someone help me with this?

I don't use a Mac so don't how where Photoshop save each user Photoshop preferences.  Are you sure it you set the permission on you user id Photoshop  preferences folder. This may be a hidden folder.  On Windows Microsoft hides the user setting area on users. One needs to be able to display and alter these hidden areas....

  • I bought a new mac with software installed and my username will not update from another account?

I recently bought an new power mac with Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro Installed.
When I updated to the new OS X operating system, they need to be updated as well. And will no longer work.
But it says it is on another account. Not sure what account. How do I find out what account they are on? How or can I do I move them into my other account?
The Power Mac is registered to the account I am logged in on.

Before buying a second-hand computer, you should have run Apple Diagnostics or the Apple Hardware Test, whichever is applicable.
The first thing to do after buying the computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. You—not the original owner—must do that. Changes made by Apple over the years have made this seemingly straightforward task very complex.
How you go about it depends on the model, and on whether you already own another Mac. If you're not sure of the model, enter the serial number on this page. Then find the model on this page to see what OS version was originally installed.
It's unsafe, and may be unlawful, to use a computer with software installed by a previous owner.
    1. If you don't own another Mac
    a. If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) installation disc from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller—not from eBay or anything of the kind. If the machine is very old and has less than 1 GB of memory, you'll need to add more in order to install 10.6. Preferably, install as much memory as it can take, according to the technical specifications.
    b. If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the installation media that came with it: gray installation discs, or a USB flash drive for a MacBook Air. You should have received the media from the original owner, but if you didn't, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
To start up from an optical disc or a flash drive, insert it, then restart the computer and hold down the C key at the startup chime. Release the key when you see the gray Apple logo on the screen.
    c. If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, you don't need media. It should start up in Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
    d. Some 2010-2011 models shipped with OS X 10.6 and received a firmware update after 10.7 was released, enabling them to use Internet Recovery. If you have one of those models, you can't reinstall 10.6 even from the original media, and Internet Recovery will not work either without the original owner's Apple ID. In that case, contact Apple Support, or take the machine to an Apple Store or another authorized service provider to have the OS installed.
    2. If you do own another Mac
If you already own another Mac that was upgraded in the App Store to the version of OS X that you want to install, and if the new Mac is compatible with it, then you can install it. Use Recovery Disk Assistant to prepare a USB device, then start up the new Mac from it by holding down the C key at the startup chime. Alternatively, if you have a Time Machine backup of OS X 10.7.3 or later on an external hard drive (not a Time Capsule or other network device), you can start from that by holding down the option key and selecting it from the row of icons that appears. Note that if your other Mac was never upgraded in the App Store, you can't use this method.
    3. Partition and install OS X
    a. If you see a lock screen when trying to start up from installation media or in Recovery mode, then a firmware password was set by the previous owner, or the machine was remotely locked via iCloud. You'll either have to contact the owner or take the machine to an Apple Store or another service provider to be unlocked. You may be asked for proof of ownership.
    b. Launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive—not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the  Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive.
    c. An unusual problem may arise if all the following conditions apply:
OS X 10.7 or later was installed by the previous owner
The startup volume was encrypted with FileVault
You're booted in Recovery mode (that is, not from a 10.6 installation disc)
In that case, you won't be able to unlock the volume or partition the drive without the FileVault password. Ask for guidance or see this discussion.
    d. After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. If you're installing a version of OS X acquired from the App Store, you will need the Apple ID and password that you used. When the installation is done, the system will automatically restart into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
    e. Run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. To upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, get it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the original owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed—you have to repurchase them.
    4. Other issues
    a. If the original owner "accepted" the bundled iLife applications (iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band) in the App Store so that he or she could update them, then they're irrevocably linked to that Apple ID and you won't be able to download them without buying them. Reportedly, Mac App Store Customer Service has sometimes issued redemption codes for these apps to second owners who asked.
    b. If the previous owner didn't deauthorize the computer in the iTunes Store under his Apple ID, you wont be able to  authorize it immediately under your ID. In that case, you'll either have to wait up to 90 days or contact iTunes Support.
    c. When trying to create a new iCloud account, you might get a failure message: "Account limit reached." Apple imposes a lifetime limit of three iCloud account setups per device. Erasing the device does not reset the limit. You can still use an iCloud account that was created on another device, but you won't be able to create a new one. Contact iCloud Support for more information. The setup limit doesn't apply to Apple ID accounts used for other services, such as the iTunes and Mac App Stores, or iMessage. You can create as many of those accounts as you like.

  • Download updates from the app store

  • Recently upgraded to Maverick from SnowLeopard. Unable to get updates from App store.

iMac seriously screwing up. HD corrupted. Erased. Installed Maverick (had SnowL before). iPhoto 11 and iMovie 9.0.4both missing after installing Maverick. Downloaded updates from Apple.com and was able to get pictures and movies back and updated to 9.4 for iPhoto and 9.0.4 for iMovie. Got message that both can be updated more. However when I tried, the App store sent message that with my new Apple ID it was bought by different user or the item was refunded or cancelled. True I had changed my password recently, but App store is not getting it.

I too was being denied updates to iPhoto and was intending to simply delete the apps as I mainly use Photoshop.
    I noticed your communication.
I went into my account hit reset and then went to install and it worked, I now have iPhoto 9.5.1!
I probably still won't use it very much but it was maddening being denied the update.
Thank you for finding such a simple solution!

  • Camera raw is NOT there in photoshop CS 6 update from CS 5

I have just upgraded from photoshop CS5 to photoshop CS 6 and there is no camera raw plugin in CS 6.  its not there at all.   I can't update it because it isn't there..."could not complete the Camera Raw command because Adobe Camera Raw plugin cannot be found." I have installed the Photoshop CS 6 update 3 times to no avail. Camera raw will not update because there is no plugin to update. I am running Mountain Lion. 10.8.2

Please try below troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:
If you are using Mac operating system try following steps:
Give read and write permissions to Application support folders from both the library's
    Then re-install Photoshop CS 6.
Issue reason, lack of permissions to concern folders from your Library hence Photoshop is not able to access the camera raw or not able to install camera raw successfully.
above provided steps are the only resolution for this issue.
    Regard's
    Vijay.

Thanks, that is interesting and something I had not previously noted.  If I import RAW files to CR direct from a folder, it is still a NEF.  But Aperture changes all NEF's to TIFFs.  OTOH, at least I once again have my CR opening in PS.

NEED HELP! -installing Camera raw presets from USB Stick.
I am attempting to install the Camera Raw Presets.
It says to put them into User Name/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/Settings...
When I get to CameraRaw the ONLY folders in there are CameraProfiles & Lens Profiles.
I have searched everywhere looking for a CameraRaw-Settings folder and cannot find one.
I have latest version of CameraRaw installed and still no settings folder.
I even attempted to find it by looking in camera raw where it has saved the custom settings I made as presets and it shows that they are saved but will not show me where.
I am using CS5 specifically Photoshop v12.0.4 and Bridge. I have Lightroom 4. I have iMac OS  10.7.3
Do I need to reinstall Camera Raw and how do you do that?
Will I then lose my presets that I made in CameraRaw?
