Install Essbase 11.1.2.2 Client on Linux/Aix

Hi,
I want to install Essbase 11.1.2.2 Client on Linux Redhat6_64/Aix7, I found a same problem on both of the platforms.
Take Linux for example, I cannot found Essbase Client when I install it.
The file I download is like this:
EPM System Release 11.1.2.2.0 for Linux x86-64 Part 1 V31896-01
EPM System Release 11.1.2.2.0 for Linux x86-64 Part 2 V31897-01
EPM System Release 11.1.2.2.0 for Linux x86-64 Part 3 V31920-01

But when I run ./install.sh, it has no "Essbase Client ", could you tell me how to install client on linux/aix os?
I already have my essbase server, i just want to install

Could you help me to figure out the following questions,please?
1. Is Essbase 11.1.2.2 Client do not officially support installed alone on Linux/Unix platform?
2. In the support file "How to Install the Essbase Client Tools MaxL and ESSCMD on a Planning Server Installed on Unix Server", I found that the Essbase server must be installed on a Linux platform first, if I install it on a Windows platform, there will be no such files:
startMaxl.sh
startEsscmd.sh
setEssbaseEnv.sh
so I cannot copy these to my created directory. So is that mean, if I want to install Essbase 11.1.2.2 client on a Linux Red hat6.0/Aix7.1, I must Firstly installed Essbase Server on another no-windows OS to get the above files?

I want to install Essbase 11.1.2.2 client. From e delivery site should i download only "EPM System Release 11.1.2.2.0 Client Installers for Microsoft Windows V31866-01" or any file is also required?
During installation should i run essbaseclient.exe file only (i need excel addin also)? It seems for this version installation files are changed.
I will do the installation on windows 7.

I have ran 'Essbaseclient.exe' first and then 'Spreadsheet Add-in.exe' for installation. After installation i have checked. ESSMSH, ESSCMD or Excel addin nothing is working.
For excel addin essbase option is coming but when i am clicking connect nothing is working.
Environment variables are showing like below:
ARBORPATH = C:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\products\ExcelAddin
ESSBASEPATH = C:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\products\ExcelAddin
EPM_ORACLE_HOME = C:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\
HYPERION_HOME = C:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\
ESSLANG = English_UnitedStates.Latin1@Binary
Any clue?? Any possible way to fix this issue??

Can't access Solaris 10 after install Essbase 11.1.1.3 32/64-bit clients

We try to install Oracle Essbase 11.1.1.3 Client 11.1.1.3 32 and 64 bit in separated folders on Sun Solaris 10.
Installation performed by root.
1.
32-bit Essbase 11.1.1.3 Client was installed and cofigured in ../ESS11113_32 folder with Oracle installer without
problem.
2.
We tried to install the 64-bit Essbase 11.1.1.3 Client in separate ../ESS11113_64 folder by running command
# installTool.sh -console

After that, we got the problem on Solaris 10 system after 64-bit Essbase 11.1.1.3 Client installation which didn't succeed.
We can't access the server with any user id (except root).
The following is from /var/adm/messages,

Below are my questions which are still not clear to me. We are using only SAN Pillar Storage for DB servers and Local Hard disks for all Application servers. So said this App Servers cant access SAN storage all they have is local hard disk for each app server.
1. For Essbase Server can i use SAN shared file system from pillar storage for ARBORPATH only for Active-Passive setup.
2. For Applications can i use the local hard disk space as shared between two systems for HA (Active-Active).

I got suggestions that I should have installed hyperion essbase 11.1.2.2 client , so can anyone guide me how to install essbase client 11.1.2.2.
I did the same with OBIEE 11.1.13 and 11.1.1.5 with Hyperion essbase 11.1.2 and easily made its access. but with these new realease everything is got changed.

Installing Essbase 11.1.1.2 Excel Add In (Client) and EAS on remote laptop

Hi,
Just got done installing Essbase 11.1.1.2 on a single Win 2003 server. Everything is installed EAS and Essbase Client. However, I need the Essbase Client to be ported to many users that are running Excel 2003. Also, i need EAS client to run from a laptop as instead of having to remote login to the server. My question is do I go through the same install process as I did for Essbase server? Or is there a smoother less complicated way to install. I think for the EAS client, it's ok but trying to roll the Excel Add In to hundreds of users, this could get messy.

Systems management software like Microsoft SMS, Landesk or Radia should be able to help you to deploy software to many PC.
You can ask your IT whether they have this in place.
Otherwise, you can consider to use Smartview instead of Essbase Add-Ins, Smartview allow you to deploy the software to many PC and future upgrades.

Essbase 9.3.1 client for linux

I am unable to complete the install of Essbase 9.3.1 client for linux (i386 on Redhat).
I export the display and as soon as i click on next on hte Select Hyperion Home Directory screen the install hangs.
Source files are local, installed to a local directory
Anyone have any ideas?

I think you'll run into issues if Server & client versions aren't matching.
We had run into this problem even when we were migrating just from 9.3.1.0 to 9.3.1.3.

My colleague and i have been trying to install Essbase 11.1.2 over the last 3 days, with no success, i.e. programs install ok but some of the required services for Essbase do not run or are not running.
We have very limited exposure to Oracle and Essbase though have been on an Essbase Bootcamp, but we are from, a systems background.
I really have some basic questions to ask and have been unable get straight answers anywhere.
What i need to know from some of you experts out there is:
Installing on Windows 2003 Server, what are the applications we need to install and begin work within Essbase?
i.e. Creating an Outline, then a dB and then loading and using the application to run rules and calculation scripts?
We'll also need to run SmartView but i'm assuming that the SmartView Add-in should work ok for this.
Heres what i think i need:
1. Oracle 11g
2. EPM System Installer
3. EPM Foundation Services (All the 4 parts are needed. 3 Parts are OS specific and the last part is OS generic)
4. EPM Essbase Server (both the parts are needed. The first part is OS generic and 2nd part is OS specific)
5. EPM Essbase Client (OS generic)
6. EPM Static Content (OS generic)
I'd welcome some clear guidance and some very simple steps to check what we need to do.

PBy EPM Static Content do you mean "Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Additional Content Release 11.1.2.0.", if not you definitely need that.
It also needs to be windows 2003 SP2/R2+
Besides that you have all the necessary files, you probably need to explain where you are having issues with the installation/configuration.

Error 404--Not Found - After Installing Essbase 11.1.2.2

I have experienced error.
I have one box of EPM 11.1.2.2, using Windows 2008. After installing Foundation and configuring it, there's no problem at all. I can open workspace and interop as well.
However I added Essbase, installing and configuring it. But after installing Essbase, I managed to turn on Hyperion Shared Service again, it didn't work.
The error says:
Error 404--Not Found
From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
10.4.5 404 Not Found
The server has not found anything matching the Request-URI. No indication is given of whether the condition is temporary or permanent.
If the server does not wish to make this information available to the client, the status code 403 (Forbidden) can be used instead. The 410 (Gone) status code SHOULD be used if the server knows, through some internally configurable mechanism, that an old resource is permanently unavailable and has no forwarding address.
What I have done is reconfiguring Shared Service, Essbase also. But no luck at all.

Installation of Essbase 11.1.1.3 Client on Windows 2008 SP4 64bit

Hi all,
I`m trying to install Essbase Client 11.1.13 64bit on a Windows 2008 Server (64bit) . Setup runs fine but when I look into the installed directories and look for esscmd.exe oder essmsh.exe these files are not installed. The bin-directory contains only two files. startesscmd and startessmsh. When I want to reinstall it the setup program told me that the essbase client is already installed. So I delete the whole installation directory, the oracle directory, registry settings but setup still says that the essbase client is installed.
So how to run the setup again and what could be the problem that the client installation is incomplete?

Hi,
For development environment, I don't see where the concern is. This only means that you won't need to install Essbase client with IR since you've got Essbase server installed. However, I usually have them installed separately in production environment.

Installing essbase 7.1 and its getting error license file.

I have license file in my folder and I wish to try to load Essbase 7.1 to my desktop PC windows based. I installed client and when I try to Install Essbase server, it asked license file. I have mentioned the file which it have loaded sucessfully in my windows server.
But if I am using that file in desktop, I am getting a Invalid license file.
Kindly help me what I need to do?

Unable to find/install Essbase Excel Add-in

Hello,
When I installed Essbase on this computer, for some reason we did not have MS Office installed and so the Add-in was not installed automatically.
Now, I cannot find the essexeln.xll file in the bin director and Excel does not show it as an Add-in. The Excel version I am using is 9.0.3821 SR-1.
How do I install this add-in on my computer? Thanks.

Installing the Essbase Excel add-in is pretty harmless, and I assume this is on a PC not a server correct?
If this is 9.3.1 and if it's on a PC just run the setup.exe for the "Hyperion Essbase Release 931 Client Windows Installer" - do you still have that downloaded??
It should fit on a flash drive if you just want to take it over to the PC in question and run the setup.exe. There's the .exe, a .jar and a .inf file that comes with the install.
Be sure you're logged on as an Admin on the PC before you install, that's easiest.
Once you install do a reboot just for fun (probably not required but given the history of your install) then go back to your Start | Programs menu and run that register add-in item from above.

I have 11g loaded on my laptop which I downloaded from OTN. I'm in need to learn Essbase. I have a few questions in trying to install Essbase.
First, can I install Essbase with 11g or do I have to use an earlier version?
Second, can I install only Essbase or do I have to install any of the other Business Intelligence products such as Business Intelligence EE or Hyperion Performance Management and BI, etc?

Basically download the Installer, the four Foundation Files, Essbase Server, Essbase Client and I believe that's the whole set of downloads you need -- it's about 6 GB total I believe. I understand you can get by without having Shared Services installed presuming you only want to install Essbase and not Planning or HFM -- pretty sure Tim's instructions are without Shared Services.
Regarding 11g -- see the compatibilty matrices at:

The 11.1.1.1 matrix states: "Oracle Database, all releases and interim releases between 9.2.0.5 and 11g (11.1.0.6.0) are supported."
