Install two mac

Install on two mac

Yes, it's possible.  Buy on one machine, then under the purchases tab in the App Store on your other machines, Mountain Lion will appear, and you can download and install it there.
It would be helpful next time if you used complete sentences.

  • HT4818 I have installed bootcamp that worked properly.  Then I have partitioned the OS X 10.8.2 and installed another OS X 10.8.2 and I have got two MAC boot options and Bootcamp disappeared from the Option menu. How can I boot Windows again and keep both

I have installed bootcamp by the bootcamp assistant and worked properly.
Then I have partitioned the OS X 10.8.2 and installed another Mountain Lion System and I have got two MAC boot options and Bootcamp disappeared from the Option menu. However, Bootcamp still remained in the Startup Disk in the System Preferences. When I tried to boot Bootcamp using the Startup Disk it did not boot and received a message that there is no bootable device. I have not lost any data and can read Bootcamp partition from both OS X systems. Please advise how can I boot Windows / Bootcamp again? Thank you.

Recommendation 1: Use a VM for this. It's essentially a giant C.F. to do this with native booting, and is potentially fragile.
But if you're going to ignore that and do this anyway, realizing that it can break anytime in particular with OS upgrades, and that it's very difficult to impossible to resize the three volumes once you've installed the systems:
    1. create three partitions, setting each to be the size for OS X copy 1, copy 2, and Windows respectively. The Windows partition needs to be set to MS-DOS format (actually FAT32) which later in the Windows installer you'll reformat as NTFS. Do not use Boot Camp Assistant to resize/partition the disk, it simply won't work for this use case.
    2. install OS X copy 1
    3. install OS X copy 3
    4. Use gdisk (available at sourceforge) which is a command line only application, to create a new hybrid MBR adding only the last partition (Windows) to the hybrid MBR and setting it to be bootable. As a concequence you will not be able to see/share either OS X volume from within Windows. The Windows NTFS volume will be visible from within OS X.
    5. Install Windows to the only partition its installer should see (confirm size), you'll need to format it NTFS first, and I suggest using the fast format option if available.

  • I have two Macs.. how to install on both?

I have two Macs.. how to install on both? Also.. does one need to do a clean install i.e reinstall op system from a clean HDD?

Go to each mac and sign into the Mac app store with you apple ID. on the first one you will buy the app on the second one you will be able to just download it. Of course be sure to follow the licensing agreement.
You don't need to reinstall the OS, you will want a clean install next month of the new OS which may mean re-downloading the FCPX software.

  • Re: using windows 7 in two Macs  I have a Mac book Pro with parallels and windows 7 installed but I left my windows 7 dvd in Dubai and I am in NY. If I want to migrate windows 7 to my I mac, will I need the code or key to enter?

I have two Macs and one windows but I left the disk along with the key code in Dubai. If I want to use windows 7 on bootcamp on my other mac, and do a migrate, will I have to use the key code at some point?
if do do I have to buy a new windows 7?

There is no system like Acronis for the Mac platform. You can try using the buiilt in Disk Utility to create an Image of the complete Mac drive but I have found that this does not work very well as on tryiing to restore it gives errors sometimes.
You can use SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner to create a bootable Clone of your system partition. But that is only for the System partition and not the complete drive.
If you use Boot Camp to install Windows on your Mac neither of those two programs will clone the Windows side.
Neither will Disk utility as Mac's can not create or write to a NTFS partition. So some other program is need for that.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Pages for the iPad and Pages for a Mac are completely different, so you have to purchase them twice, one for the iPad and another one for the Mac. The only advantage is that, if you buy another iPhone, iPod touch or iPad, you will be able to install Pages for free on all of them.
As you are running Mac OS X 10.6.8 on the MacBook, you can't purchase Pages from the App Store, so you have to buy iWork '09 on a DVD on Amazon or eBay in order to install it

Now that my newly bought Mac does not provided a avenue for me to burnt DVDs, I am
    really disappointed.
If you are still within your 15 day return period.  Call Apple they will sent out iDVD at no charge.  (There are no realistic substitutes.)
Nicely explain that you may return the computer without iDVD. That usually does the trick.  You MUST speak to a senior advisor to get a free copy. The first tier people cannot do it.

If that doesn't work you can purchase iLife 11  (includes iDVD) on disk.
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.

Can I install two different iPhoto applications on the same Mac?

Please explain in more detail what you are wanting to do.
Do you want to have two different versions of iPhoto, have two different Libraries or Share iPhoto with multiple users?
Two different iPhoto versions (06 and 08, 08 and 09 for examples) is a problem and I say no because the older version can not use a Library that the newer version has modified.

    RE: SATA Bus speed:
Typical Rotating drives available today, whatever their SATA spec, can source data off the spinning platters no faster than about 125MBytes/sec.
SATA 3 is rated at 6G bits/sec, which theoretically is about 750 Mega Bytes/sec
SATA 2 is rated at 3G bits/sec, which is theoretically about 375 Mega Bytes/sec
SATA 1 is rated at 1.5G bits/sec, which is theoretically about 187.5 Meg Bytes/sec
None of the SATA Busses is a bottleneck for consumer Rotating drives you can buy today. Trying to speed up the SATA Bus will not provide any real-world performance increases for Rotating Drives.

  • Install two versions of Safari on the same Mac?

Is it possible to install two different versions of Safari on the same Macintosh? It looks like we'll need to test for both Safari 1.x and Safari 2.x. Or will we need to use two different computers?

One poster has said he had both Safari 1.2 and Safari 2.0.x running on the same machine under OS X 10.4.x, and another poster said he could not install Safari 1.2 under OS X 10.4.4. So I don't know if its possible or not. Even if you do get both installed, you may not see all of the differences you would in running Safari 1.2 or 1.3 under OS X 1.3.x and Safari 2.x under OS X 10.4 because if both are running under the same version of OS X, then both are using the same underlying Webcore technology. Some differences would still be apparent. The person who claimed to have both versions installed claimed that Safari 1.2 worked with some site he needed to use while Safari 2.x did not.

  • How to install two iTunes on same PC for two iPods?

My family now proudly owns 2 iPods, but we only one PC. So it needs to host two iPods, with their resepctive iTunes on it.
I thought this was going to cause problems, and worried that installing iTunes for the most recently purchased iPod would overwrite the existing programme, wipe the music off it and cause my middle daughter to kill me. The guy in the shop said, no problem - create a new User Account and install the new iTunes on that, and it would be OK. So I did.
I got a bit worried when the install prog wanted me to put the new iTunes into the same folder that the old one was in, (even though I was logged in as a different, new user) so I found a new location for it and went ahead.
Guess what - it wiped the old iTunes anyway. When I opened up the old one, it had been overwritten anyhow.
I did a system restore to try and get it back to the previous setting - deleting the new user I had created. And went back into the old version of iTunes to see if the music files had come back. But it wouldn't even run - saying that some files were now missing.
This is doing my head in, it's happened before (and I had to buy Copypod to restore the stuff on my iPod).
How can you get two copies of iTunes on the same PC running two separate iPods?!! And how can I get the overwritten files back?

You don't need two copies of iTunes. There are a couple of methods for using more than one iPod on a single computer. Have a look at the article linked below. Method one is to have two Mac or Windows user accounts which by definition would give you two completely separate libraries as each account using iTunes will have it's own iTunes Music Folder. Method two is to set your preferences so each iPod is updated with only certain playlists within one library. Have a look anyway and see what you think and go for whichever you feel suits your needs best: How To Use Multiple iPods with One Computer

    getContext
    public ServletContext getContext(java.lang.String uripath)
Returns a ServletContext object that corresponds to a specified URL on the server.
This method allows servlets to gain access to the context for various parts of the server, and as needed obtain RequestDispatcher objects from the context. The given path must be begin with "/", is interpreted relative to the server's document root and is matched against the context roots of other web applications hosted on this container.
In a security conscious environment, the servlet container may return null for a given URL.
    Parameters:
uripath - a String specifying the context path of another web application in the container.
    Returns:

  • How to sync two iTunes libraries between two Macs?

I have two macs (Mavericks) plus the latest version of iTunes. What I want to do is to mirror any change I do on one library to the other iTunes library using Google Drive (iTunes Library Mac 1 to iTunes Library Mac 2 and vice versa).
I installed Google Drive on both of my Macs. It works pretty well at mirroring changes in .mp3 files names changes I do (i.e. My_Song.mp3 to MY_SONG.mp3), new files I add or files I delete...
But there are two things I can't sync right now. Playlists and files info attributes (i.e. when I change the soundtrack Genre of one of my soundtrack it doesn't sync with the same soundtrack on my other mac).
I know I can export+import playlist but I don't know how to actually sync playlists using Google Drive. iTunes has a special way of "storing" playlists. What I want is, for example, I create/modify a playlist on my Mac1 and it sync to Mac2 via Google sync.
So, how can I make my playlists + any changes I make on my soundtracks (not the mp3 files) sync between my Macs using Google Drive?
    Thank you.

Apple's attempt at doing this is Home Sharing but that's more of a track by track basis, not the whole library.  The only way you will get it to automatically "sync" is to share a common set of library files with both computers (note, only one computer can open a library file at a time).

    Hi to the Mac Folks,
I have 10.6.8 and have installed two new printers HP 8610 and an Epson 7880 and can not find the Page Set-up menu anywhere in the applications I a trying to print from. This is regardless of either printer selected.
I primarily print photos from Photoshop CS5.  The term Page Set-up has gone missing in the file pull down menu. Can't make any choices  There are no page sizes, paper types, appearsto be locked on a 13x19 size paper format. Either being too large or too small.
Saw a 2008 locked issue about this however none of the help fit my situation, options discussed are not available to me.
Preview has no "Page Setup" - or does it?
Does the constant struggle with computer compatability weirdness issues ever end or is it a enslavement scheme?

    Hey,
if you know the name(s) of the root folder(s) you want to access (eg. by making a note on the Windows side) then you can make them appear by just doing Shift-Command-G in Finder ("Go to Folder…"), and entering the full path to the required folders.  You can then navigate all the contents as normal.
