Installation drive only partially adhered to

My PC has a very partitioned drive (for ghost recovery purposes). One feature of that is the C drive is kept free of anything that is not an OS function where-ever possible.
When I installed iTunes, I did so to a different partition (the "F drive"). However, a very great deal of the install went into C anyway, which was very tight on space. Too much so, and I had a tough time freeing space for iTunes default install, but finally got it done. After it was in, only then could I move the music files etc elsewhere: not the best implementation as that should be an installer option rather than post-install, but that's a differnet issue.
What I have real trouble with is the amount of application data that is being placed on C while using iTunes, regardless of setup drive or library location: e.g. the latest iTouch software upgrade requires more room that C has left. No doubt backups et al. will also ignore my installation choice and blindly go to C, so long-term the problem will probably just get worse.
Is there any means to actually get iTunes to be installed properly on another drive, or is the casual hardcoded use of the OS drive so endemic it is unfixable?

I rather suspected as much! It's a stylistic of early XP program structure I think: overuse of registry and the per-user (C-drive) application folders - primarily an MS mistake there - when the modern (and oddly, old-fasioned too!) approach keeps as much stuff in local ini files, local application folders, the pc's defined temp folder (also not on C on my PC) and so on.
I rather suspect in my case, I can't use iTunes without resizing the partitions, and that ain't going to happen. It's a fairly major design flaw from my POV, but I guess 99% of systems have nothing but one big C drive, so the developers have higher priority issues to resolve. Fringe people like me are just chaff in the wind, regardless of how much the highly-coupled iPod may have cost me.

If you want to use Time Machine to recover the contents of one of its a backups to a new drive, follow the instructions in Mac OS X 10.6: Recovering your entire system. Note that you must select the "Restore System From Backup" option from the Utilities menu of the Installer disc to do this.
Also note that if you are transferring files to a hard drive to be used with a different computer, you should use Migration Assistant instead. This intentionally will not copy everything because some settings, applications, etc. are not compatible computer-to-computer. Migration Assistant will copy everything that is.

Low Disk Space in the installation drive

Dear all,
One of our test server, is running out of space in the installation drive.
Do we have any standard jobs/Tcodes to reduce/shrink the disk space of installation drive.
Please share your inputs,

Thanks Mark for directing the question to the right group.
Elaborating the issue: It is a test PI server and it has been installed in the D drive of the machine.
It was only one month ago the server was installed and now the system shows the error "Low disk space in D drive"
10-12 GB of free space was there earlier and even the server didn't have many messages going through it in this period.
Please help me with your inputs.

My unusual (?) printer issue -- Prints only partial lines when printing in black (part 2)

I have been using my HP Officejet J4680 with my Win7 PC for several years and relatively problem-free -- until about six months ago.
My printing issue might be rather odd. So odd, in fact, I’m not sure how to succinctly describe it. I’m not too techie, but I will try….
This printer will print some lines correctly, other lines print only partially, and some lines don’t print at all.
This oddity happens ONLY when I print in black. When changing the color of the text to any other color other than black the page does print correctly.
Further, this issue seems to occur ONLY when printing certain things/files/formats. For example, material from most websites will print correctly. As will most .PDF files. Printing files such as .txt, .doc, .wps, etc., seem to be the most problematic.
Fixes I have tried include:
Uninstalled and reinstalled printer
Run HP’s diagnostic tools (including checking for any driver updates)
Installed several new black ink cartridges
Cleaned and re-aligned printer head
Lastly, the “copy” feature continues to produce good results. These problematic symptoms seem to occur only while using the “print” function.
Short of relegating this printer to the trash, I’ve tried everything I can think of. Help/ideas/suggestions appreciated.

Whenever we sync archive a device, its always partially successfull only, and when we click partial successfull , below details appears. We have 4000 devices and all are only partially successful only Below details are from partial successful device, it has the vlan. dat and before it was working ok.

Yes you are right that we have restore from backup and since then this problem occurs. We have uninstall the CiscoWorks from c: drive and install it on e:drive, due to high disk utilization issue on c: drive.
I have checked the
RME > Administration > Config Management > Archive Management > Archive settings and setting is already e: /CIS~1/files/rme/dcma,
Also from dbreade, by executing the sql "select * from Config_Device_Archive" in rmeng, I can see that some file location is C:drive and orther files location is E: drive, so I have run the below sql to correct it, although it executed correctly, by I can see that Config_Device_Archive table that still some devices location is c:, others is e: drive.
update Config_Device_Archive set
location=replace(location,'C:\\PROGRA~1\\CSCOpx','E:\\CAPCIS~1')
Please advice, that how to resolve this issue.

Apple is still friendly, only became more protective - for your very best. Right-click on the installer, then "Open", and then you get a window offering you the option to run it. That's a ML feature. Again, for your protection.
Independently, and as not only with Apple, a new OS X is sometimes different, and ML is that bit "pickier" with fully compatible software. So, even if your driver ran under Lion, it can be that it won't under ML. In that case please check Canon's website if they have a newer ML-compatible version, If not, also go and blame Canon. It's their responsibility to provide up-to-date drivers, not Apple's.

Download but do not run the full driver.

Download and install this free file utility.

After you install 7-Zip, right click on the full feature software and driver file and select the 7-Zip option from the menu.
Select Extract to: and let it extract the file to the file name of the folder so it will be easy to find in the next step.
Now I think the driver you need is in the hposcu01 setup information file.
So, when you are ready to install the printer driver and you select "Have Disk" to navigate to the driver files, browse to the folder 7-zip extracted the files to\hposcu01, and select the HP Officejet 7400 from the list of devices and see if the driver installs that way.

You can change the settings in Security & Privacy to "Anywhere"...
That should work... as to whether the printer driver will work, that's another question.

2 printers P2035N and P1606dn, both on a wired network--looking for driver inf only file for Win7 64 bit (as opposed to the installation software that requires the printer to be connected). Available anywhere? I do not see this on the driver page.

How to use AirPort Time Capsule 2TB as an external storage hard drive only?

I have a new AirPort Time Capsule 3TB, now I want to use my AirPort Time Capsule 2TB as an external storage hard drive only, how do I it?
I would like to connect the AirPort Time Capsule 2TB directly to my Mac Pro. using OS X 10.7.5.
I have erase disk and reset the 2TB to factory default, after that, I cannot make it to connect to my Mac. Please help.

The 2TB Time Capsule needs to connect to your 3TB Time Capsule using a wired Ethernet connection.
Connect from a LAN <--> port on the 3 TB Time Capsule to the WAN "O" port on the 2 TB Time Capsule and configure the 2TB Time Capsule in Bridge Mode and turn off the wireless function on the device as well.
Once that is done, you can connect your Mac directly to the 2TB Time Capsule using another Ethernet cable, or your Mac can connect to the network using the normal wireless network, if you prefer.

I have recently abandoned my cable internet service provider and am using my iPad as a hotspot via verizon wireless service. I am trying to reconfigure my time capsule as a back up drive only connected by an ethernet cable.
I was able to set it up on my new hotspot wireless net, but do not want to use it that way because of the data usage impact on my verizon wireless account.
Hopefully there is an easy answer, but it is not intuitively obvious to me.

Well I have to say you can do it.. but if you are plugging and unplugging ethernet, you could just as easily plug and unplug an external USB drive.. and it will be faster and more reliable than the TC.

You can also do it with wireless if you accept using a USB wireless stick plugged into the Mac.. then you have two wireless clients and can connect simultaneously to two different networks.. using the same principles as above that you remove the gateway and dns problems that arise by manual settings.

Looking for HP Basic Driver only for hp 2610 all-in-one printer

I have windows 7( Just recently installed) and a HP 2610 all-in-one printer.
I just wanted to download the printer driver only and not the HP Photosmart and office software Suite.
This webside say the printer driver only is availble as a separate download named "HP Deskjet Basic Driver"

I just tried using Notepad as you suggested and had the same result. Paper feeds in stops at proper place and error message "out of paper"
I just put in two new HP ink cartridges because the other two were low and I was told that this might be the problem.
I seem to remember that the HP 2610 shows 2 "ink icons" in the lower left corner. One for black and one for color. The ink icons would change from completly full to just an outline as the amount of ink went down. Currently the black ink icon is missing
This is a very frustrating problem because the printer works great after doing a few steps to get around the problem. The fact that the problem reoccurs any time anything is changed is the major problem
Most of the problems started when I added the printer to the Windows 7 virtual machine so I could work with Windows XP programs. This may just be a coincidence because the printer still has the same problems when I use the copy function without the computer even being on.
I want to thank you for all of your efforts. Perhaps this is a unique problem that will never be solved and it is best to take my losses and buy a new printer. As a last chance, if possible, could you refer my post to someone who is an expert with the HP 2610 printer.

I made the mistake of resetting my iPod to factory defaults. Now it will only partially sync to my music library. I continually get an error message saying that certain songs are not authorized for my computer. Any ideas?

I was thinking that some of the songs in your library may have been purchased under a different apple id. You have already done the first thing I would have done by de authorizing and re authorizing. To verify this, highlight one of the songs that will not sync over and use File>Get Info. In the Summary section there will be an Apple ID entry. If it shows something different than what you are currently using then I recommend signing into the Apple ID it shows and authorizing the computer for that one as well.
