Installation hangs at 'Calendar Server Configuration Assistant'
Hi,
I'm installing the OCS Release 2 Middle Tier component on a Red Hat Linux AS2.1 server. The 9iAS Infrastructure is also on this server while the Information Store is located on a separate Linux server.
The installation of the Middle Tier is hanging at the 'Calendar Group Configuration Assistant' - the last entry in the installation log is as follows:

This has happened twice now! Does anyone have any clues as to how to get beyond this point in the installation?

Hey I got this, are a few bugs around this, one you unix username and group name have to be under 8 characters, secondly if your host name of you LDAP server is over 24 Character long it wont like it. If u edit your unison.ini and put in the IP address instead of the host name under the [LDAP] section. Oh and remember to set LD_LIBRARY_PATHS before running unistart and include the $ORACLE_HOME/ocal/bin as well.

Thanks a lot.is it a reinstallation or a first one on a bare server ? if there were several attempts please be sure you cleaned evrything before launching the installation :
- product directory
- /etc/ora*
- database
- oraInventory
- /tmp (I had a similar issue with remaining files in /tmp, even after rebooting)
If it doesn't work, check that you don't hit the NO-EXCUTE problem (see the OCS 10.1.2 release notes, look for "noexec") -

Thanks in advanceI'm having a similar issue, and have opened a TAR for the problem. According to Oracle, it's the same error as the one received when the username is over 8 characters. Being that this is not the case in my environment, they are scratching their heads.
The only thing we can see as a possible user-name type issue is that the username and the group name are the same, though this is probably not the issue.
I'll post anything I find out.

All configuration assistants were successfully apart from the Calendar Server Configuration Assistent
Every prerequisite actions where taken according to Installations guide and
release notes.
All kernel parameters set.
The architecture is as follows:
Infrastructure and Storage RDBMS is installed on server A
and the middletier on server B.
All the components were successfully installed and configured on both servers apart for the Calendar server on middletier.
On server A the X-server was not running during the middletier installation.
We have tried the installation twice. The second time changing the
ip_local_port_range kernel from 61000 to 65000 as this parameter turned out not to have been correctly set in the first install.

Indeed it installs and when it come to complete configuration assistants it shows that one of my components failed.
i tried several times to uninstall/install the SOA suite and it failed in the same stage.

I've found a solution to this problem. So far I've been trying the installation through MSTSC by taking administrative control (through /console option). Later, I tried my luck by installing it through Net Meeting which proved to be successful.
Hope you can try the same and ged rid of the installation issues. -
Oracle 10g2 installation stucks at Oracle Database Configuration Assistant

Actually, at the beginning It stucked at Oracle Net Configuration Assistant. I searched the Internet and found an article saying "If scp and ssh are not in the path /usr/local/bin, then create a symbolic link in /usr/local/bin to the location where scp and ssh are found", I did that and it passed Oracle Net Configuration Assistant, but then stopped at the next step Oracle Database Configuration.
One thing I think is helpful to know is that the server was previously installed with Oracle10g1. It worked for three years as the server for the students doing projects in a database class. But recently the JDBC to spatial database connection had some problem so we decided to install Oracle10g2. We deinstalled the previous Oracle10g1 with OUI but we are not sure if the deinstallation is clean and complete.

Our /etc/hosts used to have its hostname specified this way:
123.123.123.12 hostname hostname.dom.com
We changed the order to the last two items to this:
123.123.123.12 hostname.dom.com hostname
Apparently the services are instantiated using the fully-qualified hostname. -

The "E:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\cfgtoollogs/configToolFailedCommands" script contains all commands that failed, were skipped or were cancelled. This file may be used to run these configuration assistants outside of OUI. Note that you may have to update this script with passwords (if any) before executing the same.-------------------No Srini,
I opted to create a starter database as part of the installation.
The error occurs "during installation" while trying to do the database configurations.
(I did try once without installing and configuring the Loopback adapter (With and without plugging into the network).
Later I read some of the problems with DHCP and installed/configured the Loopback adapter.
Then tried Installing Oracle 11gR2 (With and without plugging into the network)
But end up getting stuck at the same Net Configuration Assistant failure).
Any advise ?

Since 3 hours, the runInstaller seems to hang on the Oracle Database Configuration Assistant. Even though i click on stop, it still continue...
How can i know if it does anything ? Must i kill the process and run again the runInstaller at the beginning ?

Portal Installation Failure at OC4J Instance Configuration Assistant
Portal Pals,
Portal install fails when the install procedure is at the "OC4J Instance Configuration Assistant" step. There is a message stating that "SMI Saving Changes", but it never completes to go to the next step. After waiting I finally terminate the process and retry iit, the results are always the same. Note, the Infrastructure is running fine. I have tried installing Portal on a separate host and the same thing happens.
I am using Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2) on a Windows 2003 Server with 3GB Memory.
The ipm.log in the both the Infrastructure and Portal homes have similar errors, see below for an abbreviated listing.
I have read all similar posts and searched Metalink as well. I could sure use some help as do not know what else to do, except go back to a previous release which installed fine.

I done that as well many times with the same result.
Note, when installing the Infrastructure it also failed in a similar way, but as you say using "retry" did work in that instance.
I'm missing something (besides my mind), and will keep trying. If anyone has any clues please let me know.

Installation of the OC4J Instance Configuration Assistant FAILS!
Hi,
I'm trying to install Application Server 9i Release 3 on a Red Hat 7.2 machine. I can get to the very end of the installation without problems. However, when I reach the screen "Configuration Tools" when all the modules are automatically started, the 0C4J module always fails.
Looking at the log that generates at the bottom of the screen, it looks like I get a "java.io.IOException Permission Denied" on ALL the java applications that it's trying to install. Everything else is started with no problems, with the exception of this module.
Has anybody encountered this error before?
How can I fix it?

JulianI also have the problem that I can not install one of the OC4J instances ( Re: Exception handling for the single row while using Bulk-collection ). I think it has something to do with the permission on the local machine. I haven't got an answer yet.

pinjamJust in case anyone finds this thread, the problem is that the NFS mount is not configured properly, and thus the root.sh script is failing almost straight away.
Ensure that the NFS server has the following options in /etc/dfs/dfstab (Solaris 10) to allow root access:
share -F nfs -o rw,root=orac1.domain.com:orac2.domain.com /oraclerac/crs_files
share -F nfs -o rw,root=orac1.domain.com:orac2.domain.com /oraclerac/oradata
You can find out if this is the problem simply by (as root) trying to chown a file anywhere on the NFS mount.
Output of the root.sh script should be more like this:

How to re-run OCS 'Configuration Assistants'?
Hi,
Is it possible to re-run just the 'Configuration Assistants' step of the OCS Release 2 Middle Tier installation? Our installation continues to fail at the 'Calendar Server Configuration Assistant' step. We have a couple of suggestions for getting beyond this step but we don't want to repeat all the preceeding installation steps which succeeded. Unfortunately, OUI has been shut down since the failed installation so we cannot simply retry the failed configuration assistant.
Ideally, we need to somehow jump to the 'Configuration Assistants' step and retry the 'Calendar Server Configuration Assistant' and subsequent assistants.
Installation of Middle Tier component is on a Red Hat AS2.1 server which also contains the OCS 9iAS Infrastructure installation.

it is possible to rerun the configuration assistants.
The log file in the directory $ORACLE_BASE/oraInventory/logs/*InstallActions* contains all command
lines for the different conf. assistants.
You can copy and paste this lines directly into the
command line shell.

I was unable to enter my blackberry Id password and so after the last attempt,the date wiped.now I want to create a new ID with the same email I used before but the system is telling me that this email is associated with an existing ID.please what do
