Installation of 10.1.3 ver of oracle application server :CHOOSING OS VER
I have to install this software on linux machine
uname -a
Linux xyz.domain 2.6.9-67.0.20.ELsmp #1 SMP Wed Jun 18 12:35:02 EDT 2008 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
as you see it says x86_64 but when i go to edelivery.oracle.com i only see x86 for linux which is for a 32-bit OS
am i missing a point here ??
Looks like you have either Intel EM64T or AMD64 processor and 64-bit OS. Oracle Application Server on this platform will run as a 32-bit application. Refer following certification matrix for details:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/files/oracle_soa_certification_101310.html#BABIACGE
So yes you choose "Linux x86" as the platform from the drop down list on eDelivery and download and install the 32-bit version of Oracle Application Server.
If you had Itanium-2 processor then you can choose "Linux Itanium" as the platform and you will get 64-bit version of Oracle Application Server.

Installation of 10.1.3 version of oracle application server
Hi
I have to install this version of apps server.
I went to this link
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/index.html
I need to know the files are .bin files
Can i just unzip them using unzip utility or how to extract the filesYou should be able to execute the .bin file directly. Change the mode to make sure it is executable (chmod +x fileName.bin) and then run the file normally (./fileName.bin).
Thanks

About Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.1
Hi friends,
I got a software and in its installation guide, it says the software supports Oracle Application Server +10.1.3.1+.
How could I find where to download a pure Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.1 rather than the SOA suite. The suite is very large and slow. There're many components such as ESB,BPEL,Process Manager which we don't use. But It seems to me I can not find the standard Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.1.
Would anyone kindly help me about this?
-Rickywhen you start the application, you will have to choose the version that not include SOA, for this you will nead a database, if you dont have it you wont be able to install, and if you dont want it, in the installer, you will be ableto choose versions, choose between those that don't include SOA, SOA is 1 of 4 options.

Displays blank page when tried to access ORACLE Application Server Control
Hi,
I have successfully installed the Oracle SOA Suite using advance installation.
But when tried to open ORACLE APPLICATION SERVER CONTROL by following the below path.
start-> programs-> oracle-soa->ORACLE APPLICATION SERVER CONTROL, It displays a blank IE page.
But when tried to open BPEL control or WSM control or ESB control, it takes me to the login page.
Note: Started the SOA suite and the status of ASG component in the Start SOA page says Down.Does this affect in anyways?
Would appreciate if anyone could throw some light on this.Hi All,
I started reinstalling SOA suite and while installation, I encounter below warning.
"A DHCP configuration was detected on this host" The installer also detected that the localhost name and network hostname differ. please resolve the networking issues by reffering the "Installing on DHCP computers" section in the installation guide."
Note: Doing installation in the server.
Wondering this could be the cause for displaying blank Application Server Control page.
And here is, what it says in the installation guide.
Note this limitation when running Oracle Application Server on DHCP computers: Oracle Application Server instances on DHCP computers cannot communicate with other instances running on other computers. For example, you cannot have OracleAS Infrastructure on one computer and a middle tier on another computer if any one of those computers uses DHCP. All the instances that need to communicate with each other need to run on the same computer. There are no limitations on clients: clients from other computers can access the instances running on the DHCP computer, as long as the client computer can resolve the DHCP computer on the network.
The solution for this is installing loopback adapter. But the catch is, I have few webmethods running on the server. Wondering about the effects of Loop back adadpter on webmethods. Please someone throw some light.

Edited by: user10587613 on Mar 15, 2009 7:32 PMOK, you can find the software here:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/htdocs/101310.html
(Choose CD1 for the your platform from "Oracle SOA Suite 10g" row)
Here is the installation guide for Linux that will walk you through the steps to install:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/linux.1013/install/toc.htm
If you are only looking to install Oracle Application Server and not the SOA Suite or Web Center Suite, you still use the above software but choose "Integrated Web Server and OC4J Middle Tier":
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/linux.1013/install/topo.htm#CEGEECFH
Hope this will help.

Oracle Application Server 10g Installation Guide for Windows
The link to Oracle Application Server 10g Installation Guide for Windows on the OTN Web Site don't work. Using search on site does not turn up any installation document for Oracle Application Server 10g.
How can I find the Installtion Guide or the Quick Installtion Guide for Oracle Application Server 10g for Windows?Hi,
The docs you seek are available through the OTN documentation pages at: http://otn.oracle.com/documentation/index.html.
Click on the link for "Oracle Application Server Release 10g (9.0.4)" and then on the "View Library" link for part B10468_04 - Oracle Application Server 10g Online Documentation 10g (9.0.4.0.0) for Microsoft Windows.
The Docs are located under the Documentation tab.
Alternatively, here is the direct link to the Documentation Tab interface of the Library:

Oracle Application Server 10g R2 32bit installation on RHEL 5.4 64 bit
Hi !
Is it possible to install 32 bit Oracle Application Server 10g R2 on 64 bit RHEL 5.4?
Is there some spacial care I need to take to do this?
Regards,
GCMay be possible but it is probably not tested by Oracle nor is it supported as error correction support for OAS 10g has finished more than a year ago.
A good starting point is My Oracle Support Note [url https://support.oracle.com/CSP/main/article?cmd=show&type=NOT&id=564174.1]564174.1, "Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.2) Installation Requirements for Linux OEL 5 and RHEL 5". Make sure that you always use a 32-bit emulated shell (linux32 bash).

Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.1 installation issue
Hi,
I am trying to install Oracle Applicaiton server on linux and i have installed it on similar boxes before without any issues, however this time around after i am done with the installation, it is not showing me the enterprise console. It gives a successful installation message but with the following message.
Application Server Control Console is not running in this instance of Oracle Application Server. You can manage this instance remotely through another instance of Oracle Application Server that is configured to run Application Server Control Console.
What should I do to get the admin console. I also looking around and saw but emctl utitlity is not there in ORACLE_HOME/bin
Edited by: user9938780 on Dec 11, 2008 11:34 AMthe 10.1.3.1 version does not use emctl
if you do a opmnctl status -app you can see your applications, one of them is ascontrol
you can reach the emconsole through http://hostname:7777/em
to start you can issue opmnctl startproc application=ascontrol

Oracle Application Server 10g Portal Installation
For Oracle Application Server 10g Portal do i need to install Oracle Application Server 10g Infrastructure If yes then how in windows because in this website only the discussed about Linux ... So please provide me link if in windows we need to install so i will download Oracle Application Server 10g Infrastructure ...
Thanks In AdvanceYes. Infrastructure provides the database to hold the portal metadata, the database and the app server services to manage single sign-on and security for portal, and the portal app server metadata repository (a different thing than the first)
To install App Server Infrastructure, follow the same steps as for a Linux installation. Just use Windows-style path names as compared to Linux style path names.
Make sure the portal is installed into a different home from the infrastructure. -

thanksHi all,
I've found a solution to this problem. So far I've been trying the installation through MSTSC by taking administrative control (through /console option). Later, I tried my luck by installing it through Net Meeting which proved to be successful.
Hope you can try the same and ged rid of the installation issues.
