Hi and Welcome to the Community!
I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode
It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.
If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.
But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, then you may need to consider more drastic actions -- WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload, and the "Bare Bones" OS Reload Process. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup to your PC...please review the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post for instructions.

As stated I'm having trouble with my computer, I boot it up and within a few minutes it freezes and I have to restart it, I tried updating it to the latest mavericks but it won't finish the installation it's stuck at the end, what can I do to fix this? I need it for homework tonight.

    Crowntheme,
you can try this: boot your MacBook Pro into Recovery mode by holding down a Command key and the R key as it starts up. Once the Mac OS X Utilities menu appears, select Disk Utility. On the left-hand side of the Disk Utility window, select your internal disk’s boot partition (typically called “Macintosh HD”). On the right-hand side, press the Verify Disk button if it’s not greyed out; if it is greyed out, or if it reports that errors were found, press the Repair Disk button. Once the verification/repair is completed, exit Disk Utility and select Restart from the Apple menu to restart in normal mode. Does it still freeze after a few minutes?

  • Blackberry z10 help | My Mac cannot recognize the phone and my phone stuck at booting %99 for 6 hours nothing happened

My Blackberry z10 , Stuck at %99 Boot , and my Mac OSX doesn't recognize it?. i have latest Blackberry Link Version

The funniest part of the whole situation, Apple Care explained it to me as some kind of feature. The told me how to adjust the time when my computer sleeps and recommend I don't shut it down, let it sleep and "instant wake". I would bet if you called them about your Macbook, they would suggest you just close the lid and let it sleep rather than shutting it down.
Basically shutdown and restart have a problem and the solution is to not shutdown is how they explained it to me. They kept saying buzz words like "instant on" and "fast wakeup". My computer already could sleep and wakeup fast, but now shutdown and restart don't work right. I called them 3 times about it, but since they use these buzzwords, sounds like Lion is meant for a Macbook Air or a Mac with an SSD. If you have a normal hard disk, some of the saving/versions/resume features take too long to be written to the disk on shutdown. And when you start again, it takes a long time to reload the system to it's previous point.
Even if I uncheck the box to reopen windows on next start, it reopens them anyways.
If they can't give me a better explaination or some kind of fix, I will have to go back to Snow Leopard. I use my Mac in a production environment and depend on stability. They assured me before I upgraded that it would be stable and all the new saving and versions features could help my productivity. So far it's not helping me and downright annoying. You need to close all your windows before you close the program... if you have 5 windows open in terminal or textedit... every time you launch, they will launch all those windows. I just really want versions, not resume it seems.
But I can deal with it opening a million windows, just can't take it getting stuck on booting or not shutting down properly. This is a "feature" that should be fixed. LOL

  • Yosemite Server stuck at boot screen

    Hello,
we have/had a Mac Mini Server running. He is administered via screen-sharing. We encountered problems with LDAP / Open Directory and I was trying to unload a launched configuration via:
    sudo launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.openldap.slapd.plist
when the screen-sharing session was interrupted. I had to shut down the server pressing the on/off button and connected him to a monitor in order to find out what went wrong.
Now he gets stuck at half the progress bar of the apple boot screen.
Starting in single user mode I can:
    1) $ /sbin/fsck -fy
and get: "The volume ... Appears to be ok
    The Volume was modified."
    and:
    2) $ /sbin/mount -uw /
    after
    exit
    I get out:
Bootcachecontrol: Unable to open /var/db/Bootcache.playlist: no such file or directory
pfctl: the use of -f option, could result in flushing of rules present in main ruleset added by the system at startup.

    kern.maxfiles: 12288 -> 120000
bash: /etc/rc.installer_cleanup: No such file or directory
We have only Server running on the machine, but it would be nice to save the configuration somehow.
    1) Is there a way to repair the system from command line?
    2) Can I simply copy the missing files from another system (kernelcache, Bootcache...)?
    3) Can I install Yosemite from the recovery partition and keep the server installation?
    I hope someone can help...

The Apple Support told me to turn off the computer, then turn it on again, then press and hold "Option + Command + P + R" until de relaunch song play for the second time, then release it..... it worked here for me.... hope to help you too !!!

  • Yosemite stuck on boot - MacBook Pro Mid 2010

I've read just about every discussion on apple support for this problem but still nothing seems to work for me. My mac has been stuck at about the 50% spot on the gray progress screen with the apple logo every time I start it up.
I left it up for 8 hours yesterday. Manually powered it off for the night and then let it try for another 5 hours today. I've tried Command+S and repairing the disk that way, Command+R when rebooting leaves me with a bright white unresponsive screen, holding ALT/OPTION and using the restore drive puts me right back at the 50% progress bar, and for the life of me I cannot figure out safe mode. I hold down shift when I hear the chime and let go when I see the apple logo but it just proceeds to the same gray progress screen. Either I'm doing it wrong or it just will not work.
I have a backup of my computer on an external hard drive from early this year but I would like to not have to restore back to that. Any suggestions or pointers would be appreciated as I'm approaching 48 hours of frustration with this problem. Thanks!

    Hi silencer.
I reinstalled Arch in my MacBook (not Pro/mid 2007) a few days back.
    Here's what I did:
    1. Made a clean install of OS X. This is not necessary, but I wanted to do it because the old installation was all bloated. Altough the first time I installed arch I just had to make some room so that bootcamp could create the partition, but again, making a new install is not necessary.
    2. Create Partitions. Booted from Arch CD (32 bit), then I created two partitions, root and home, I have 3 GB of ram so didn't care about a swap partition. You can create them with parted or any other app, and create the filesystem while creating the partitions. Then you have to reboot and have rEFIT to fix the partition table or you won't be able to install GRUB on the installation process.
    3. Boot live CD again and install. Follow the MacBook wiki. When you are in the "prepare hard drive" section make sure to only choose the mount points. I made the mistake to re-create the filesystem and had to resync the partition table with rEFIT. Then I had to install GRUB manually by booting the live CD and chrooting into the new install.
    4. Install GRUB. When you get to the Install bootloader section choose to install it on the /boot partition, since the wiki and the installer specify this. And it works!. My old arch install also had GRUB installed on /dev/sda3 (my root/boot partition).
    Notes:
    - My Partition scheme.
/dev/sda1 efi partition (not visible on Mac).
    /dev/sda2 Mac
    /dev/sda3 Arch
    /dev/sda4 Home
    - Important.
Before installing Arch I installed ubuntu 10.10. Ubuntu installed GRUB2 on my Mac's MBR, then the first time I installed Arch, the installation process ended up fine with GRUB in /dev/sda3, but when I selected Linux on rEFIT it booted with GRUB2, that still was on MBR. Then I had to erase it, I used lilio for this , just to leave my MBR free from GRUB2, after that I could boot GRUB on my root partition.
    Hope this helps.

  • Stuck at boot up

Mac mini is stuck at boot up.  What to do?

Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
    If 10.7.0 or later...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partitirion & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk.
If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS.

    Hi,
I'm using HP Pavailion 15-n020tu Stuck at Booting in Windows 8.1 Pro when I enable Hyper-V. And I have to enable Hyper-V to test my Windows Phone Apps in MS Visual Studio? Mty friend Dell Laptop does not facing this problem with same configuration which I have. Then why me are facing this problem?
    Help Me?
I tried on Windows 8 Pro but again same problem.
So many things I tried updating Windows, Updating drivers but failed.

    Hello @Vikas_Kumawat80,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I understand that you are looking to enable Virtualization on your notebook computer, and I would be happy to be of assistance!
While I do not have any experience with Virtualization, I do recommend taking a look at this resource on How to Enable and Use Client Hyper-V, as well as Run virtual machines on Windows 8.1 with Client Hyper‑V. I am not certain if this processor has hardware virtualization support, it appears that Windows 8.1 pro and enterprise may have built in capabilities.
If you require further assistance on this, you might have to contact Microsoft on the topic.
    I hope this helps!

  • I lost my bluetooth after installation of Maverick2. Can anyone help me please, i cannot use my magic mouse on my Mac Book Pro  retina???

I lost my bluetooth after installation of Maverick2. Can anyone help me please, i cannot use my magic mouse on my Mac Book Pro  retina???

There is a fix; I finally discovered how to clear the Windows 7 xx64 Device Manager's warning of a missing Bluetooth Peripheral device.
Thinking Boot Camp 4.0 would correct thid, I installed it ititially today only to have the warning remain.
The Bluetooth company called Broadcom (you notice the reference during the installation of Boot Camp) offers a BlueTooth "device finder" (my phraseology) that detects all BlueTooth devices in your Apple or PC but withing a Windows operating system; included are Windows 7 , Vista, XP and even 2000 operating systems.
So download the 3 MB file, from Broadcom.com.  While your Bluetooth equipment is plugged in to the computer, run the program.  The program searches for any BlueTooth peripheral activated equipment and BlueTooth devices that makeup your MacBook Pro, or other Apple or a plain PC computer having a Windows operating system installed.  It then downloads the appropriate software required.
    The company's URL address:
    http://www.broadcom.com/support/bluetooth/update.php
In my case, I ran the program, rebooted my MacBook Pro (in Windows 7 x64 and with the new Boot Camp 4.0 installed) and the missing BlueTooth peripheral device indication was eliminated.  It took 10 minutes to complete.

Do you have both W7 and W8 on the iMac? If not, depending on your specific Mac model/year, the correct Bootcamp drivers can be downloaded and installed in W8/Bootcamp.
You can download the appropriate drivers by using Bootcamp Assistant and put them on a USB drive.

    Hello,

    Hope that helps,

  • 13" late 2011 MacBook Pro has frozen after Yosemite installation. I can, however, boot from a clone of my MacBook Air that is on an external drive. Despite the fact that I can boot from the external, could it be the RAM that's the prob

My daughter's 13" late 2011 MacBook Pro has frozen (null sign displays) after Yosemite installation. I can, however, boot from a clone of my MacBook Air that is on an external drive. I reinstalled Yosemite on the MBP HD, but it still hangs in mid install. Despite the fact that I can boot from the external, could it be the RAM that's the problem? I'd happily put 8 GB in if it seems probable that would solve the problem. I've tried all the suggested procedures that I've seen posted here. Disk Utility, and my older version of DiskWarrior indicate the HD is OK. I have DiskWarrior 5 on order.

Boot the MBP with the OPTION key down.  If successful, you should see two HDD icons,  Select the recovery partition (on the right).
From the 4 option menu select Disk Utility.
Run Disk Utility>First Aid, Verify and Repair.
If the disk cannot be repaired, it will have to be replaced.
    Ciao.
