Installation of Oracle 8.0.5 in NT4 Workstation

Hi,
I installed Oracle 8.0.5 (Enterprise edition) in my NT4
workstation home PC (Pentium 200 , 64 MB). All tools are working
properly when logged in with userid/password and service name
(i.e. connect string) = local.world, where local.world has been
defined, as usual, in the tnsnames.ora with BEQ protocol, so
that the local database in my hard-drive can be accessed. But,
when I want to use the Enterprise Manager, I encounter a problem
- on using userid/password and service name = local.world it
says "can not locate hostname" and does not go beyond the login
stage. Any help will be highly appreciated.

N.B. : I was suggested by a DBA to setup TCP/IP etc. but, my
database being local (at the PC's hard-drive) I am not quite
sure how and why I need to setup TCP/IP etc. All other tools
e.g. sqlplus, designer/developer works with "local.world" BEQ
protocol and just not the Enterprise Manager. Please help.

Anyway:
Try not supplying any host in the login boxes?
Did you use Net8 Assistant or did you modify the tnsnames.ora
file by hand?
If you use Net8 Assistant, you can add a 2nd address for the
database. Make this a TCP/IP protocol connection; use localhost
for the server name to keep it simple. In theory then if your
client can't use BEQ to connect (like OEM seems to fail) then it
will try the next protocol...
Does that work?
