Installation of Planning

Hi,
I have installed and configured Shared services, Admin server, Essbase client and essbase server. After that i also insalled Planning, Now when i configure datasource last option in planning i am getting error that unable to connect with essbase (while same login is working through EAS)
Kindly help as i tried from my end getting error when i provide login id and password for essbase.

Are you sure you can see the users under security in EAS that have been provisioned in Shared Services.
It sounds like security is still in native mode and that is why only the admin can log in or the security has not been refreshed to essbase.

I think the installation of planning on Vista is difficult. As some of the files doesn't support even i am tired of doing that.
But tell me one thing have you installed all other products , I mean Essbase, (server, client) , AAS and Shared services.
Are they working good .
I have formatted my system to XP and installed everything , but the problem is when i install planning it prompts me that IIS 5 should be greater other wise EPM will not install...
there are lot of things with planning 1) i can't datasource as it is not highlighting when we configure with Shared services
2) It does not create product instance .
If any one can fix this thing by giving me a suggestions.

Service accounts rights in Sql Server 2008 clustered installation.

a/c in domain for Db engine, Sql agent, Reporting services and Analysis
service. During the installation I plan to specify these a/c's in the
domain to run the above 4 services under these a/c. I understand the sql server agent
a/c should have 6 rights in the local computer security policy
ie a)Adjust memory quotas for process,b)Act as a part of os,c)Bypass
traverse chechking,d)Log on as a batch job and e)Log on as a service.
Will these rights get automatically assigned during installation
or should it be manually assigned in each node under its local security
policy. Also what are rights for the other 3 service a/c and do these
rights get assigned automatically during installation.

You should get Domain account created before starting cluster installation and specifically give these rights to the account.

When installing cluster make sure you use Domain account which is added as local administrator on both nodes.
It should have righst to create Computer name object(CNO) in domain where cluster is being created
Windows CNO must have complete rights on SQL server CNO.You should also take help from AD team in providing these rights and understanding if any.

How to manage Development/Tset/Production Environment in Planning

Hi Gurus,
I wanted to know what is the best method to manage these 3 environment in Planning.
Does it require to install seperate installation on seperate servers or we can use one installation of planning, RDBMS and essbase.
or
it require some other technique.
Please advise me, though i know it is simple question but small hint will be a great help.

Hi,
It all depends on your infrastructure and what products you are using.
In most cases dev/prod are on different servers and are separate installs, this is the route I would promote.
Some clients do share an environment for dev/test but not all, not everybody is the same.

(The WebLogic Administration Server is installed and deployed on the Foundation Services

Question:

1) After installing components on respective machines per guideline a),b) above do we have to deploy webapps from products related to machine2,3,4 on machine1(foundation services). If everything gets deployed on Shared service machine -- we are concerned about the system resources that will be needed to run all the webapps.
2) Assuming we do not want to use a cluster - do we still have to depoy to admin server? Please clarify.

Could you please clarify why this step is required - meaning what is purpose behind this - It would create software directory and install files right.
We have already done this on above machine B earlier right? So duplicating the installation piece?
Are we doing this in order to setup weblogic cluster like active passive config or just for convenicen to deploy?
Deploy and Configure Planning web application server on Machine B and deploy to an exisiting domain on Machine A
So this part is just launching EPM configurator and do tasks related to Plannnig on machine B and when choosing the domain select option to use already created on machine A right?Also when I do the installation for Planning on Machine B - wont it also install admin server on same machine which I can use to deploy locally? Please clarify.

Oracle EPM 11 installation issue.

Hi All
I m installing the new hyperion EPM 11.1.1.2 on a windows 2003 server which is running on Parallels desktop on a Macbook pro. I have installed MS Sql Server 2000 sp3, weblogic 9.2.3 , MS IIS 6.0, jre 1.50_12 as per the installation checlist document. I have unzipped all the files on to download_location folder.
Now when I double click on the InstallTool.cmd it pass through all the prerequisites but it is stopping at one point which is still on comand prompt with the following message:

Reports using Planning connection

Hi there,
Can someone please help with this problem :
We have reports connecting to Essbase using the Planning cubes and they work fine ... as soon as we change the connection to Planning (to see supporting detail) the report does not open ?
The error is :

Hi,
On your Reporting and Analysis server make sure you have a directory :- \Hyperion\common\ADM\Planning\9.3.1\lib
If you don't it means you have not run the planning adm set up on the Reporting and Analysis server, this is part of the custom installation of Planning.
If it does exist make sure the directory contains - PlanningSystemDB.properties
If it doesn't you can copy the file from your planning server, make sure you recycle services afterwards.

Question from a Newbie GRID Installer

First, thanks for the help in advance. At home, I've built out a laptop running RHEL 5.2 and E-Business Suite 12.1.1.
Now, I want to play with the Grid. I see that 10.2.0.5 has been released. What is the installation path/plan to get to 10.2.0.5 ??
Do I need to install the base 10.2.0.1 and upgrade ?? OR, can I install 10.2.0.5 directly ?? I'm naive about the supporting Repository for GRID.

about the supporting Repository for GRID -> check the certification GC checker Metalink ID 412431.1.
For the installation of 10.2.0.5, you will need to install 10..2.0.1 then upgrade to 10.2.0.5. See release notes for 10.2.0.5. which gives lots of good info.

Backing up Tiger for Install of Leopard

Ok, I've got Leopard and it should be arriving monday. My plan is this:
I have a new Seagate Freeagent 500gig external USB hard drive. I want to save a backup of Tiger (Bootable if possible) so that if anything goes wrong with the install I don't have to worry too much. However I also want to backup my Windows XP partition as well.
Once both drives are backed up and Leopard's installed fine, is it possible to erase the external drive safely?
After installation I plan on partitioning the external drive, the majority of the space as backup for Time Machine and the rest for storage of films I've edited and don't need clogging up my MBP hard drive.
Does this sound like a viable plan?
Any suggestions welcome.

This sounds very similar to what I intend doing--just waiting until I get the various bits in place first, so I'd say its a good plan But then I'm biased since its similar to my own...! (I've done quite a bit of reading first and have been 'round the loop on updates, etc.)
Personally, I have one extra wrinkle to how I do this. I separate my hard drive space into "System", "Work" and "Archived" partitions to make backups and installs, etc., easier. No "user" data in "System", so overwriting the system doesn't affect my data. There's no need to backup "Achived" (its already archived...). Soft links or aliases point from Work to the Archived stuff where needed. It means a bit of work initially, but helps with the on-going maintenance once its in place.
I've read elsewhere that you don't have to start Time Machine immediately.

Solaris 10 Upgrade

Hi,
I am attempting to patch a system from
Solaris 10: 11/06 to Solaris 10: 05/09.
From what I can see, I can not do this using a 'patch bundle' as this does not give me new features (the purpose of the exercise is to get the new features).
My company already has a the "Solaris 10 5/09 Operating System DVD Full," downloaded from the following location:

The whole exercise just seems a little overkill for a 'minor' release, so that's why I a little concerned.

Possibility of same document number in tables BSAD and BSID

Hi
I want to know the possibility of existence of same document number in
the tables BSAD and BSID.
If it is possible, in which case the same document number exist both in
BSAD and BSID.

You may have an accounting document that has many AR line items.
An example could be an installement payment plan.
This would create say 10 line items, with different due dates.
So the amount outstanding is say 1000, and the customer has to pay 100 for 10 months on the 1st of the next 10 months. this will create 10 line items.
Half way through the payment plan, there will be items in BSID and BSAD.

Problem with apply EHP3 on ERP 6.00

When I am going to apply add-on SAP ERO 2005 Enhancement pakage 3 through SAINT. I am getting some
prerequisite mismatch:

Should I start with EHP2 first? Or I am missing something else.
When I download EHP for ERP 6.00 through solution manager. I can just choose EHP3 or EHP4.
I have FI-CAX,600 install on my ERP.

SQL 2005 with ERP2005 (ECC 6.0) Unicode

Hi All,
I need a few questions to be answered.
Can anybody tell me as to what would be the initial size of the database after an installation of ECC 6.0 Unicode with database as SQL 2005.
Is there any minimum hardware requirements that would have to be taken into consideration before an installation is planned.
Can anyone help me in deciding whether MSCS services or Manual Log shipping would be preferred for Failovers.....

<b>Sizing</b>
Hardware sizing should be completed by your SAP partner. Its based on many things. Users, modules, storage volumes, peek, BP, workloads etc etc.
You can do the 'noddy' version with the sapsize on OSS. The output from this is in 'SAPs' you could look up std systems bench marks and get something 'like' it. Else submit the results to the hardware vendor of your choice and they will do it for you.
<b>System Redundancy</b>
Depends what you are trying to do.
MSCS is a fail over HARDWARE only solution. ie if you want to patch or take a node out of service you can by 'failing over' the services on it to the other node. If you get a DB problem MSCS can not help you at all.
Log shipping gives you 'rapid' recovery options for SQL(and there in SAP). The way this normally works is via either manual or automatic log-shipping to a 'standby' system with SQL/SAP loaded on it that can be brought online if you get a problem with the main system.
A well planned system will have fail-over and recovery capabilities, ie it will use BOTH.

ValidateData.js not working in 11.1.2

Hi,
After a new installation of Planning 11.1.2 I have transferred the ValidateData.js file from the old 11.1.1.3 environment. It seems that in 11.1.2 the script is not working like before anymore. I am getting an error for script below:
The error is: currentDataGrid.fullPrecision is undefined
Are there any changes in 11.1.2 for using javascript which are causing this issue?

After some trial and error I discovered a different way which is working in 11.1.2.
Replace the currentDataGrid.fullPrecision[r][c] with currentDataGrid.grid[r][c].cellValue
