Installation Problem on iTunes 6.0.1.3 - HpSdpAppCoreApp

Help!
I'm trying to install the new iTunes 6.0 and I'm getting a message during installation that says
HpSdpAppCoreApp
"The feature you are trying to use in on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click OK to try again, or enter an alternative pathway to a folder containing the installation package "HpSdpAppCoreApp.msi" in the box below."
The last time I dug through some files on my own, bad things happened.
Thanks,
C

good gracious, Chris ...
okay, try applying the general advice on installation problems given here:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
... and the InstallShield Tips and Pointers are also helpful with these less-well-documented errors:

  • Windows Installer problem in iTunes

    Hello,
I'm got the following error message when I tried to operate the iTunes on my laptop: "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable" .  I can not remove the iTunes in order to reinstall it and I didn't find as well the Windows Installer Cleanup utility.  Any idea how to resolve this problem?

Perhaps let's first try updating your Apple Software Update.
Launch Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). Does it launch and offer you a newer version of Apple Software Update? If so, choose to install just that update to Apple Software Update. (Deselect any other software offered at the same time.)
If the ASU update goes through okay, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the errors this time?

  • Installation Problem with iTunes 9

I used Software Update to first download and save iTunes 9 (not automatically installed).
The download left a Folder on my desktop which contained an iTunes Dist pkg alias and a Folder with other packages in it including the package to which the alias was pointing.
I double clicked on the alias and the installation process started ok and continued up to the time when I was asked to input my password. This I did and then I got a message that the "installation failed because there is no software to install".
I trashed the download repeated the whole exercise and got the same result.
By the way all my software is up to date other than the fact that I have not upgraded to Snow Leopard yet.
    What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for that. I followed your advice and it worked perfectly.
Seems strange however that the "download only" option via Software Update didn't produce a working result. All my previous update downloads using that method have worked perfectly (irrespective of the program involved) - just one of life's mysteries I suppose.
Anyway once again thank you for your help.

  • Installation problem of iTunes 6.0.4 - Can"t proceed after restart

I just had to download and re-install iTunes on my Powerbook G4 due to a hard drive crash. I am currently in 10.4.5. I downloaded iTunes from Apple's sight and started the install. Everything went fine and the computer did its mandatory restart. After restarting there is no evidence of iTunes anywhere on my hard drive. So I try to reinstall it from the installer and all the items are ghosted out saying skip. When I try to proceed it says there is nothing to install. I tried verifying/repairing Disk Permissions with Disk Utility and nothiung showed up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I believe I have the answer -- at least it worked for me. With a huge assist from Apple Tech Support, I finally came up with with the following...
Go to Finder > Hard Drive > Library > Receipts. There you will find four files starting with iTunes. Remove all four to the Trash. Empty it. Restart your computer. And then the Install program on the virtual drive will work and you'll get iTunes 6.0.4.
    Hope that helps.

  • Problems with iTunes installation

    Hello,
I am having problems with installing iTunes 10.4. I am running an Acer Aspire M1640 running Windows Vista (32) v 6.0.6002 SP2 and updated.
When trying to update my old version of iTunes I got the following error
"Bonjour: The feature that you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK or enter an alternate pathway to a folder containing the installation package 'Bonjour msi' in the box below."
When I tried OK I got a repeat of the error and when I tried "Browse" this produced an unintelligble list of files.
I then went to the Apple iTunes installation problems and followed the instructions there.
Firstly I managed to delete the majority of the files in the Tenp folder and then uninstalled the old iTunes and made sure that Windows was updated.
I tried downloading a new version of iTunes from the Apple download site but on attempting to install it I ended up with the same error.
Can anybody out there offer any help with this as I am currently without my iTunes

    Hi again,
I have just posted an answer to my problem on a "more like this" discussion that I found on Apple Support Communities. So far I have managed to install iTunes and QuickTime in the way b noir suggests on this post.
It is early days but so far so good.

  • ITunes 6.0.1.3 installation problems

I have problems installing the latest iTunes update. I get this message when I try to run itunes:
"iTunes.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log has been created." In my log I find messages like:
"Product:iTunes -- Configuration completed successfully" and
"The description for Event ID (0)in Source (IdriverT) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. The following information is part of the event: service stopped."
Setup finishes somewhat normally and I restart my computer. An installation shield starts loading, and then nothing. I try to run iTunes and I get the first message I described. I suspect there's an error with the quick time installation. iTunes is listed under add/remove programs, quick time not. I can uninstall iTunes manually, not quick time. I have tried to install quick time separatly with no luck. I get different errorcodes among them Error:-3. I don't remember all of them. I use F-secure anti-virus on a w2k SP4 system. I have never had problems installing iTunes before... Any help would be appreciated!

    Hey Vegard,
Here is a post that I added two weeks ago. It includes a solution that worked for me. I hope that it works for you! Good luck.
    Hey troubled Podheads,
I was one of the legion with problems in downloading iTunes6 and QT7 for Windows until I tried something (I must say that I am not a pc wizard and I don't know the technical reasons for why the following worked, it just did! So if there are any pc geeks out there, be sure to chime in). Anyway, this is what I did. First uninstall QuickTime if you do have it on your pc. If not, just go to the next step:
Go to START, then RUN. Type in regedit and then click OK. Your REGISTRY EDITOR should open. You should see HKEYLOCALMACHINE in the scroll down menu on the left, with a small box to its left. Make sure that the inside of the box has a negative sign - this will open up the next set of subfolders. Next, make sure that the subfolder, SOFTWARE, has a negative sign in the small box to its left. Next, make sure that there is a negative sign in the box next to the subfolder entitled, Apple Computer, Inc. You'll see at least three subfolders: iPod, iTunes and QuickTime. Click once on the QuickTime folder until it is highlighted and then delete it. You will be asked if you want to delete QuickTime and its subfolders. Click ok and then close out the Registry Editor.
Next, download the stand alone QuickTime 7 at this link (you may have to cut and paste this link to open this website):
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html
When you download the stand alone QT7, you may get a couple of error messages (I did), but if you repeatedly click ok (like I did), the QT7 player should load with no problems.
Again, I am no pc geek, but this worked for me and I have gained access to iTunes6 (with video capacity) and my complete library is intact. Nothing like trial and error!! Good luck -- I hope this works for all of you frustrated Podheads out there!

  • Having problems downloading itunes 10.5.2; box states windows installer issue. I have a 2005 with windows XP and service pack 2. Any ideas?

Just bought a new ipod touch for my daughter.  It won't sync without itunes 10.5.2 loaded on our computer (a 2005 HP with Windows XP and service pack 2.)  When I've tried to load 10.5.2, I get an error message box stating there is a problem with my Windows installer.  I've tried loading the windows installer hot fix KB942288-v3-x86, but it didn't help.  Any suggestion?

    Hi Lorheak,
thanks for the quick reply. I had the same idea already yesterday. I use Norton Internet Security for a long time now without any problems. I think this a Apple or Microsoft problem, because the popup window which appear come from Windows DEP. I got no message from the firewall with any problem. I check the log files from Norton and Windows already but find nothing. This is a very strange problem. In the past I have had a lot of other problems with iTunes upgrades. Everytime I accept the installation of the newest version I got errors regarding missing "msi" files.
    Greetings Gert

    Repair your Apple Sofyware update.
Go to START/ALL PROGRAMS/Apple Software Update. If it offers you a newer version of Apple Software Update, do it but Deselect any other software offered at the same time. Once done, try another iTunes install

Problem installing itunes on windows 8 64bit. Installation gets stuck on Status: (blank) literally blank. I really need to install this since I have only 1 PC and i just bought the new iPhone 6.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Itunes - windows installer problems

I tried to update from ITunes 11 to 12 and got "Windows Installer Service cannot be accessed". So I removed ALL Apple software from my Windows 7 PC, did various recommended fixes from Microsoft, but still the same. Now I get exactly the same trying to reload ITunes 11! I have had this problem on previous updates, and deleting the various Apple software has always fixed it, but not this time. So very frustrated - anyone know how to fix this please??

    Hi Brendan
tried that but didn't help. This is what fixed the problem:
    - go into command prompt mode (AKA Dos mode)
    - type in      sfc /scannow
    - let it run.
This solves many Windows problems where files and settings have been lost or corrupted. In fact, Apple should add this to their articles on Windows problems with ITunes installation.
    Thanks

  • ITunes Installation Problem (FED UP)

For some reason my iTunes went crazy one night and after removing all apple programs I tried to install iTunes again. Only to constantly come upon THESE ERRORS. THIS HAPPENS EVERYTIME I TRY TO INSTALL!
I have already tried that option to cinti8nue the installation and once iTunes downloads, I click it and it says iTunes was installed incorrectly and iTunes Helper is not working. I am SO FED UP WITH THIS PROBLEM, IT'S BEEN A MONTH AND I CAN'T EVEN SYNC MUSIC ONTO MY IPHONE. PLEASE HELP ME. THIS IS REALLY ANNOYING AND FRUSTRATING!

OK I went ahead and selected abort on the message that I got and iTunes installed. Now everytime I open it I get these messages:

  • ITunes + QuickTime installation Problem

I've got an iPod Nano as a present but I'm unable to download iTunes to play it on because of a problem with Quicktime.
When I try to download iTunes + Quicktime the following error comes up:
    Could not open key:
HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\Classes\QuickTimePlayer.Lib.QuickTimePlayerApp/CSLID Verify that you have sufficient access to that Key or contact your support personnel
I've tried uninstalling QuickTime complety but it doesn't work.
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Cheers!

I had also had a problem with iTunes and discovered that Quicktime may be the culprit. iTunes appears to successfully install but, when I launch it, I get this message, “ iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.”
I have tried the Solutions to Common Installation and Launch Errors and have not solved the problem.
O I tried to completely remove iTunes and QuickTime and reinstall (While during that I did not find a QuicktimeVR file to delete). That did not work.
O I tried to empty my Temp directory but, I could not delete all the files. Same problem occurred when I reinstalled iTunes.
O I tried to install QuickTime without iTunes and it would not install. I got a message from QuickTime for Windows saying, “A newer version of QuickTime is already installed. This installation cannot proceed while the newer version of QuickTime is installed.”
O When I try to launch QuickTime from the program list, Windows cannot locate the QuickTimePlayer.exe.
O When I try to uninstall QuickTime, I get the following message, “The following file does not exist or is not a valid uninstallation log file.
    C:\WINDOWS\system\QUICKT~1\UNINST`1.LOG
    I would appreciate any help!

  • ITunes 9.1 Installation problem with QT

Problem installing iTunes 9.1 it gives me an error message that can not install iTunes because I have a newer version of QuickTime already installed. Any advice.

poetlife, that is a different problem that I've seen. After I checked the box to "Convert songs to 128kbps", none of those song's lyrics show up on the ipod screen. It just says the title of the song.
I've decided I'd rather have the lyrics on my ipod than more songs.
They seem to have several bugs with lyrics in this 9.1 version.
You, too, can report it to apple:
itunes menu > help > provide itunes feedback
