"Installer Failed To Initialize"? After Effects CS5 Mac, Help!!!
I'm in serious need of some help here. I downloaded the After Effects CS5 trial, but when I go and try to install it I get an error:
"Installer Failed To Initialize. Please Download Adobe Support Advisor To Detect The Problem"
I already tried Adobe Support Advisor, but it didn't detect any problems.
I tried re-downloading the file again, but still no luck.
I'm running an iMac with Mac OS X 10.6.2, Intel Core 2 Duo Processor.
Can anyone please help me?
Hi. I see this thread is old...last post is july 2010. However, since I just had a similar issue and since a google search brought me here, i figure id share my info with other who my hit this too...
i have os x 10.7 and am trying to install cs5.5 master collection. i kept getting the installer failed to initialize error.
by looking at the PDApp.log, i saw an error and fixed the issue causing the error...
my issue was when launching Install.app, it looks for ~/Applications and creates a folder "Adobe" in it. I had an alias in my home dir and the log showed the installer didnt see it as a valid directory.
by removing the alias, the installer then created the folder "~/Applications/Adobe" for me. However, since it created an empty folder named Applications, separate from the actual /Applications dir, this was not acceptible.
So, if i right click on /Applications and hit "Make alias" and move that to my home dir...same issue.
But, if i open Terminal.app and type "sudo ln -s /Applications" the seemingly same type of alias or "symbolic link" is created, but instead the installer see the dir as valid, and the install went flawlessly.

After Effects CS5 Mac says "Quicktime is not installed on this system, some components...
the error message is "QuickTime is not installed on this system, some components will not work correctly."
And when I open After Effects CS5 on MacPro 2 x 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon with 16GB of 1066 MHz DDR3 running 10.6.3, it is basically not functionaly, because it will not open any quicktime movies without an error message.
Quicktime is installed on this mac.
I have run permissions and run diskwarrior, and it has not solved this problem.
Any ideas?There are a few things that cause After Effects to report that QuickTime is not installed.
One is the obvious one: If QuickTime 7.x is not installed, After Effects will report that QuickTime is not installed.
The next most common reason is quite different: The TCP communication with the QuickTime server is blocked, so After Effects thinks that QuickTime isn't there at all. The fix for this to remove the blockage in communication. Sometimes the blockage is because of an aggressive firewall program, which sees the TCP communication and stops it. If this is the case, then you can either turn the firewall software off or specifically allow the QT32 Server component to communicate; instructions for letting a specific process communicate are different for each firewall program, so you'll have to look in the documentation for your security software for information about doing that. Another reason is that QuickTime can fail to initialize fully because it gets stuck loading a badly written importer component. Adobe CS6 'Installer failed to initialize' on Windows 7. Help!
I downloaded the Adobe Extended CS6 from Adobe.com on to my Windows 7 (HP) Dell laptop on 64bit.
After unpacking the downloaded file, I tried to run the installer but got the message - 'Installer failed to initialize'. It tells me to dowload the Adobe Support Advisor but the program is no longer available. See- Adobe - Adobe Support Advisor

In trying to fix this, I have uninstalled all Adobe Cloud/Flash software and ran the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner and CCleaner tools. And yet the problem persists.
I've lost half a day trying to fix this, so if there's anyone out there who can help I'd be very grateful!Is your user profile on the C: drive? How about the Temp directory?

Photoshop CS6 Trial "Installer Failed To Initialize" on Vista. Please help I have read other posts!
I've read through countless posts on different sites and still can't find a fix to this. I've been having a hard time trying to figure out what advice actually applies to me. After extracting all the files and I run the setup I get about 75% through before I get the Installer failed to initialize message. After looking at the PDapp data It seems clear what the problem is, but I have no idea how to fix it. The fatal/error messages are as follows:
[FATAL] Setup - Adobe Application Manager executable does not exist at the location: C:\Users\Tanner\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE\PDApp\core\PDApp.exe
[FATAL] Setup - Unable to launch PDApp. File missing

Please, any help would be great.first thing to do is to re-download ps cs6 in case your dl was corrupted.

I've just downloaded the after effects cs5 30 day trail onto my mac osx 10.6.7 .
I've imported my footage that i want to edit but can not use any effects etc. when the effects tab is clicked there is nothing there apart from 'matte'.
Does the trail come with no effetcs use?

"Installer failed to initialize" and Adobe Support Advisor HELP!
I have tried downloading a trial of Photoshop Elements 11 and previously a trial of Adobe Photoshop CS6. Each time I get to the step where I launch the installer for the application, a box shows up saying, "Installer failed to initialize. Please download Adobe Suport Advisor to detect the problem."
I have downloaded the Advisor and it just says, "Inspection could not identify any issues. Please contact Adobe Support for further assistance."This is what my PDApp.log file looks like, can you detect what the problem is? None of the information in the troubleshoot page was helpful to me. Receiving the error Installation Failed when installing After Effects
I tried several times to download AE both through a trial of Creative Cloud and the "Download Now" button under the product. One time the download got to 99% and then abruptly quit. I'm on a Mac using OS 10.6. I have used PS, Illustrator and Indesign rather heavily for several years but have never tried AE. I wanted to try it and also the Creative Cloud at the same time.
It doesn't look very promising to me. Hope you get yours working.I have branched this out to a new discussion. I would recommend you start with downloading and attempting the installation of the trial of After Effects. You can locate the trial at http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=after_effects. If you are able to successfully install the software then please choose the option to License this Software after it is installed as a trial. You will then want to enter your Adobe ID tied to your Creative Cloud subscription.

After Effects CS5 Mac crashes on launch with a warning
I get the following error message: After Effects Warning: Could not rename the file '/Users/jonahlee/Library?Preferences/Adobe/After Effects/10.0/Worspaces.9216.1407350837851841.xml' to workspaces.xml'.
The strange thing is that the file does not seem to exist. I even checked that directory with the terminal. I have run permissions and restarted, and I am still getting this message. Anyone hae any ideas.
My computer is a MacPro 2 x 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Interl Xeon with 16 GB of 1066 MHz DDR3 Ram running 10.6.3 so that should not be an issue.I manually set the read/write permissions to all folders and files inside the user/Library/Preferences/Adobe/After Effects/10.0 directory to read and write for Everyone. I also created a Workspaces.xml file, this got me through the launch sequence.
However it still reports that QT is not installed. This is now on 10.6.3 with both QT X and QT 7.6.6 Pro installed.
When I look at the output module templates most are missing, even RAM Preview is unavailable, presumably since it uses QuickTime on the Mac.
Looks like Premiere Pro CS5 is also affected, just tried to launch Premiere and its hung (now 4 minutes and counting) at "LoadingImportQuickTime.bundle".
I have the CS5 Master Collection and rarely use Premiere but it must use the same 32 to 64 bit interpretation of QT to make it work.
Update: Premiere launched after 7 minutes. All appeared normal until I imported a QuickTime file (one of the free Artbeats clips). I got an error message reading "The file has no audio or video streams." Cool :/ -
Two questions for After Effects CS5 Mac
Hello, (new to AE)
I am trying to figure out why my "make movie" export is smaller than the composition I created. My comp settings are 1280 x 720 and my compostion window is at 100%. My output settings are also locked at 1280 x 720. However when I export it and watch it it is a lot smaller in the Quicktme Player player which is 640 x 360. I don't know where 640 x 360 came from. See images. I am not sure how to figure out what size I should make something in After Effects so it looks the same size when exported. I mainly am using this for web.
The second issue is that when I do a Full RAM preview for this (6 secs long). It never finishes it. It stops a coupple of second short everytime. I don't have ths probem when I Ram preview it at a lower resolution.

I am not sure how to figure out what size I should make something in After Effects so it looks the same size when exported.
Nothing to figure out, you are just pushing the wrong buttons/ using wrong settings. 100% user error. AE by itself does not resize anything unless you tell it to which can happen
a) by setting resolution in the render settings to half (which often happens by using the "Current Settings" option while your comp is zoomed to 50%)
b) likewise, using the crop and stretch in the render settings
c) picking a format/ CoDec that is constrained, i.e. only works with fixed sizes and resolutions
Otherwise everything is left as it is in the comp. I suggest you do some serious reading up on render settings and output modules on the help.

After Effects CS5 - Rendering Help!
I recently got AE CS5. When I had CS4, i would always render it as a Windows Media File (.wmv). But now in CS5 when I render it as that, it just messes up. The size of the finally rendered HD clip will be no more than a few hundred KB's, and sometimes won't even play. Any suggestions?

-yodertreyProvide more details about your settings, which version of Windows and where you are storing the file. CS5 being 64bit, there could be any number of issues caused by the differences of 32bit vs. 64bit, including some very rudimentary Windows stuff not related to Adobe....

Is After Effects CS5.5 PowerPC-only? (Installation Problem)
I just installed Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Production Premium on a new (2012) Mac Mini (Intel Core i7 processor) running OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2. Most of the apps installed correctly, but After Effects CS5.5 gives me the following error when I try to launch:
You can't open the application "Adobe After Effects CS5.5" because PowerPC applications are no longer supported.
I tried uninstalling and re-installing the app (along with Flash Catalyst, which also fails), but the error remains. What's the deal here? Is it an installation problem, or is After Effects CS5.5 truly incompatible with my new hardware/OS? Any suggestions appreciated.Okay, answered my own question. I was installing on a Mac Mini, which doesn't have an optical drive, so I was using a remote optical drive to install across my network. Turns out that confused the installer. I ended up copying the install DVD onto a flash drive and installing from that. Problem went away.

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit and can't seem to install a trial verion of CS5 After Effects. I have a licensed version of CS5 Design Basic installed. Help, can't install Adobe After Effects CS5 (trial)
I tried to install the trial version of Adobe After Effects CS5 trial version and it doesn't work, when I opened the setup application it was all working fine until the installation, it went for a little bit then stopped and came up with an error message. I'm not sure what's going on, some people on other forums say you need to turn off antivirus and run as administrator but it still doesn't work.
Details of my computer:

Disk Space: 230GB HDD (approx.) 147GB remaining
Operating System: Windows 7 Professional 64bit

After Effects CS5 hangs on startup
After Effects CS5 (MAC, german trial version) needs 5-10 minutes to start up, hangs on the message "MediaCore wird initialisiert". On another Mac (small macbook!) it works fine. I did a reinstall, no effect. No plugins are installed.
Some of you appear to be having different problems. Let's keep this thread focused on QT32 server related hangs only. Please start a new thread if:
1. you are never seeing an AE splash dialog come up
2. the splash dialog does not say "Initializing MediaCore" during the hang you are seeing
3. killing the QT32 Server process in the Activity Monitor (mac) / Task Manager (windows) does not result in unfreezing AE.
Please note that if the Activity Monitor says QT32 Server is "unresponsive", that can be normal and does not, by itself, mean you are experiencing a QT32 Server hang problem. If (2) is happening but not (3), then you are likely experiencing some other plugin related issue than the QT32 server. If all the above do apply to you. Make sure you've tried the firewall fix mentioned above first.
If that doesn't help, on Mac please get the following information: Repeat the hang with only AE running, then go to the Activity Monitor and select the QT32 Server process. Then press the "Sample Process" button at the top of the window. When the sample is complete, please post the first page of the resulting text file.

I need to email sales orders as PDF files. Is there a fairly easy way to do this? I have the "SAP" email function working, Just need to send the form as PDF instead of JPG. Thanx, Tim Pope
