Installing an English version on Japanese OS

I chose to doanload an English trial version (from the US site) to my laptop that is running a Japanese OS. When running the AdobeDownloadAssistant it installed the Japanese version instead of English one.
How can I select the English version during the installation?

Some installers do that; sometimes setting the system locale to Japanese on English Windows will also install the software with the Japanese MUI.
What is the product you are trying to install?  You may have better luck if you use the direct download from http://prodesigntools.com/tag/ddl instead of the download assistant.

  • Flash Player is talking to me in Japanese - although I installed the English version

    Background:
My OS is Win XP Pro SP2 - Japanese version. I am working in a
Japanese company and it came preinstalled with my new PC. The thing
is that I can barely read this language, so it's not a very
pleasant experience not having an English OS. But that's the
situation and I cannot change it.
What I thought I can have is an English version of Flash
    Player 9.
Well, after installing the English version of FP9 (actually
this is a problem with *all* versions of Flash Player) I am getting
all the error/warning/notification messages in Japanese. After some
digging I discovered that even the English version of FP has
embedded all the UI strings both in English and in Japanese. And,
because it detects my OS as being Japanese, it spits all the
messages in the default language of the OS. Which makes it *very*
difficult to use. Especially for debugging/development.
Isn't there any switch (ini file, registry edit, something)
by which I can tell it to use English, instead of the OS default
    language?
    Thanks in advance,
    Alex

perhaps it did not cleanly remove the flash player when you
    uninstalled? Try the uninstaller:

  • What should I do to install the English version of InDesign CC?

What should I do to install the English version of InDesign CC and other CC apps?
Even choosing English language for the app's language in the preferences of Creative Cloud, the installation comes in Portuguese.
I'm in Portugal but I would prefer have the apps in English.
    Thanks.
    Vitor Pedro

The problem has been solved. It was necessary to first uninstall the apps. My initial struggle was that many of the Adobe apps were missing in Control Panel. For example, InDesign was not there. So I had to delete the files of apps directly on Disk C. But now, I think everything is fine.

  • Upgrade to 7.0.2 English Version showing Japanese Characters & Yen prices

I recently upgraded to iTunes 7.0.2. Since completing installation, I've noticed that the fonts within the iTunes Store interface are off and I'm noticing a lot more Japanese support (including a lot more spotlighted albums of Japanese singers). Along those lines, I'm also seeing "square blocks" instead of text as I'm running an English version of Windows XP Home...denoting a lack of support for Japanese Kanji characters. When I look to purchase something from the store, pricing is displayed in Yen.
I double-checked my settings to ensure that support was set for English, which it was. I attempted to repair iTunes via the Install package Repair interface. No errors were found. Finally, I uninstalled iTunes 7.0.2 and downloaded a fresh install package from apple.com. After a clean install, I'm seeing the same thing. Searching the message board has revealed no answers. Has anybody else seen this and, if so, were you able to correct it?

A re-install is not necessary. Simply go down to the bottom of the main store window, there is a small flag icon, click the drop down arrow & select the US store.

  • Accidentally installed Adobe Reader XI in Japanese

while trying to view a Japanese PDF on a Japanese website. My computer's language is in English, and I tried switching the language by mimicking an English Adobe, but the two versions don't match. I can't uninstall it either to reinstall because Japanese pop-ups occur. How can I change it to English!?
    Sorry for any mispellings.

If do have the Japanese Reader installed (as opposed to the MUI version), then you cannot switch languages.
If you are on Windows, uninstall it using the Acrobat Cleaner Tool http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
then download and install the English version from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

  • English version of Firefox in China

I am an English speaker working and living in China. I just updated firefox (while on my VPN) for Windows 7 to Firefox 24 English version and I am now somehow running the Chinese version. I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times and checked that the .exe is the English version. I have also followed advice from a comment here and reinstalled the English version on top of the Chinese version with and without the VPN. This seems ridiculous that installing the English version would EVER be anything except the English version -- no matter where you are located at the time. I wish I would have never updated and unfortunately might have to convert to Internet Explorer. Please help!

Did you check the general.useragent.locale pref on the <b>about:config</b> page?
Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    *Firefox 25: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    *(32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
    *(64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.

hi, have been instructed to remove the dutch version without removing the personal data, there is however no option for doing that, there is just the uninstall option in windows 7.

hello geraa48, you can just download and install the english version from https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ & install it on top of your current installation. this will keep all your customizations in your firefox profile...

  • English version of AE, German keyboard. How?

Yes, I know, this has been discussed several hundred times already, and I have read tens of threads - no solution.
I have a German layout keyboard and an English language version of AE CC. Several (or many?) shortcuts don't work for me. I know, I can change the layout file. It's a huge file and I don't even know how to find the comand that I need to change. I'm only beginning to learn AE. And I don't want to spend all day trying shortcuts, find them in the file, change them, retry, etc. If I just had a copy of the German layout file, maybe I could copy/paste it's contents into the English file?
Does anyone have a copy to share? Why doesn't Adobe offer these files for download, or even better: Let me select my keyboard layout in the preferences!
I could install the German version, then copy that file, then re-install the English version. Quite a pain, though, and I still hope there is a better way. - And I'd appreciate your help.
    Regards,
    Ralf.

I did find this in the documentation, but am not sure if this is relevant.
    LOCALIZATION
Thanks to the Unicode support added in CS4, localization is much less painful. For non- Unicode strings, such as in older function suites, we expect strings to be multi-byte encoded using the application's current locale. On Windows, you can use the WideCharToMultiByte() function, specifying CP_OEMCP as the first argument. On Mac OS, use the encoding returned by GetApplicationTextEncoding().
I do not care if the actual strings are in english even though the plugin is loaded in a non-English install of AE.  Do I still need to do what this part of the documentation is specifying?  Can anybody show me some examples of localization for plugins?
    Thanks,
    Arie

  • Is there a way to install Japanese version of Windows 7 on my macbook (English version running Snow Leopard)?

    Hi,
I need to use some Japanese software which have to be installed on a computer running Japanese Windows OS in order for them to work properly.  My macbook was purchased in Canada, meaning running English version of Snow Leopard.  Is such thing possible?
    Thanks!

The language of your Snow Leopard has nothing to do with whatever version of Windows you want to run, which you will have to do via Bootcamp or one of the virtual apps like Fusion or Parallels.
If you do want to change the language of your Snow Leopard, it can be done in a few seconds by moving a different language to the top of the list in system prefs/language & text/language and then logout/login.
