I don't think any BB has 8GB in device memory...a media card is required to reach such levels. You were mis-informed. Unless...do you presently have an 8GB media card in your BB? And is it just not being recognized? If so, that may be a different issue than we have been addressing...

My 8310 is running the most current Blackberry software.
I am on the most current version of Desktop Manager.
I downloaded and installed Blackberry Media Sync.
Application Event Log shows a successful install.
Every time I select Blackberry Media Sync from Desktop Manager, it fails with "an application error has occurred.  would you like to inform MS, etc..."
Here's what the Application Event Log error entry shows.

  • Blackberry Media

When I try to install Blackberry Media after downloading it, it tells me I need to restart my computer before it can install.  I use Vista, any help?

    Two points:
    1. You have to have local administrator rights on your computer.
To check it go: My computer - Manage - Users and groups
View "Groups", and view "Administrators" group
    2. Perhaps windows has downloaded and installed an authomatic update for the OS and because of that the second restart request appeared.
Does it work after the second restart ?
    What does happen now ?

  • Blackberry Media Manager NOT working for Blackberry storm (wont install on computer)

Hello 2months ago I got a Blackberry storm. Its a good phone but I have one problem that would make it much better. When I try installing the desktop manager, everything installs besides the Roxio Media manager. It gives me an error and cancels the installation of Roxio and continues with the other stuff. I really want to transfer Photos and Videos from my phone to my computer and vice-versa. Please tell me what I can do to install the Media Manager to get the device working. I am not using the CD's to install, i downloaded it from the blackberry website. The english version WITH media manager, and I even clicked Custom install and made sure it was planning to install it.
    My error is this:
     Error 1402.Could not find key:
    UNKNOWN/ComCtl3.CoolBar/CLSID
Verify you have sufficient access to the key , or contact your support personelle.
What does that mean I have to do?
    Solved!

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
You don't need Roxio nor Media Manager to transfer files to/from your BB. Follow these instructions and be sure to download the version of Desktop Manager that is without either of those...
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/message?board.id=BlackBerryDesktopSoftware&thread.id=3...
With that, you'll be able to have 2 additional drive letters on your Windows PC and you can drag-and-drop just like any other drive on your machine. Slick.
    Cheers!

  • Media Synch Crashing every time

I go to Media, then I click the "Start" button on the Meia Synch.  The dialog shows up with my blackberry, a Synch button and some percentages of use in the memory, etc.  Then a big grey box appears that says "We can help you synch your iTunes stuff, etc" so I click the synch button and it synchs it seems the albumn art over, but it doesn't send over any music.
Then I click I think it's the OK button and the software bombs.  After that everytime I click the "Start" button on Media synch and right after the first dialog shows up (assuming when the grey one wants to show up) it blows up with:
"MusicSync has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience."
Whenever it does this, located in my application event log is the following error:
    EventType clr20r3, P1 blackberry music sync.exe, P2 1.1.0.26, P3 4980b625, P4 mscorlib, P5 2.0.0.0, P6 492b834a, P7 f4f, P8 7, P9 n3ctrye2kn3c34sgl4zqyrbfte4m13nb, P10 NIL.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
Ii had searched for forums and found that protected music won't go over, but all my music is MP3's in iTunes, so I don't have any protected music.  I also have the latest and greatest Desktop Manager (4.7.0.32) and I have a Blackberry 8900 Curve.
    Thanks for any assistance!

I don't know. but BlackBerry Media Sync 2.0 has just been released. I suggest that you install that new version, you bug may have already been fixed.

  • Media Synch Software

I just installed Media Synch and cannot open it... I get an error message that says-- Media Synch has encountered a problem and must close.  I have re-installed the software and am still getting the message.  Any ideas?

     Hi t4729,
Media sync installed successfully and it fails to open up...hmmm interesting
Could you please paste the contents of the media sync logs present in the following directory...(substitute <username> with your username on the computer)
    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Media Sync\Logs\
in this above folder, locate the folder with the oldest date (notice that they are in yyyymmdd format) and copy the contents of a text file having the word "INSTALLER" present in the name.
Then go to the newest date in the above mentioned folder and copy the contents of the file that has "BBMS_FLOW" present as a part of the name.

All these actions seem to be ineffectivei n syncing music to my Curve via Media Sync and I keep receiving the same error message. • 8120 Media Sync - "Your device is not recognized by Blackberry Media Sync"

I got a new (refurbished from ebay) Pearl 8120.  I just downloaded the newest Desktop Manager and Media Sync software.  The Desktop Manager  works fine with the Pearl.  The 8GB microSDHC card was formatted and has worked fine in the phone so far.  However, when I try to use the Media Sync software, I get this error:
"Your device is not recognized by Blackberry Media Sync.  Please check that
    (1) a memory card is installed correctly in your Blackberry device
    (2) mass storage mode is turned on for your blackberry device."
I have checked both these things.  I have tried running the program in XP compatibility mode and as administrator.  Also, my computer doesn't recognize the phone as a mass storage device (is it supposed to?).  I can always use my card reader to put files on my card, but I'd like to be able to use the Media Sync software.
    My OS is version 4.5.0.124
edit: Now it sometimes tells me "You need to turn on mass storage mode from the connected Blackberry Device and click Retry.  This may require you to reconnect your device."
In my settings I have Mass Storage Mode Support: On.  Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected: Yes.
I've reconnected the device and everything.  I've reloaded the card and restarted the phone.  Media Sync still gives me errors and Windows still doesn't see the phone as a mass storage device.

Hi, a simple solution is to take out humbly your previous phone from the closet (or thrashbin), put the microSD card into it and connect it to PC again. And you thought you would never use it again once you have that "awesome" Blackberry... :-)
I did this with my Nokia 6120. Also works with any standard microSD reader.

  • BlackBerry Media Sync - Operating system not supported ?

I downloaded BB Media Sync & when I went to install it came up with error message that the operating system was not supported. According to requirements listed, I meet ALL the criteria. Below is the info on my computer & Curve. If anyone can help I will be grateful.
Windows XP, MCE 2002, Service Pack 3
2 GB RAM, 170 GB drive space available
    iTunes version 7.6
BlackBerry Desktop version 4.5, Device 4.2.2.180
    Curve model 8320 w/ 4 GB media card (T-Mobile)
    Thanks, Rick

I have an almost identical setup for both PC and Desktop 4.5. I am with Verizon, but I don't see that affecting anything.
I know it's pretty basic, but have you removed the software through setting on the PC and tried downloading and reinstalling?

  • Blackberry Media Sync

Some songs from my play list in Itunes will not sync into my Blackberry Curve, they are purchased songs. When I look at the song in the Media Sync play list there is a small lock on it. How do I remove lock so I can transfer the song?

    Hi,
You have some songs that have Digital Rights Management protection.
    Read the attached article.

I've been having many problems with BB Media Sync (the most recent version from the BB website).  After the program loaded, I would connect my BB and it would immediately crash and give me an error message.  Two weeks ago, I reinstalled Windows 7 and I installed BB Media Sync along with the desktop applications.  I'm still having this problem:

    Any ideas?
    Best,

    Hi Paul:
Thanks for reporting this issue.  We’re looking into it.
I think removing the MediaSync files from your device will help solve this issue.
Be warned, after  you do this, MediaSync won’t remember any of your previous selections.
Connect your phone and enable USB Massstorage
In Windows Explorer, find the drive you’ve been using with MediaSync
The path will be something like J:\home\user\system\Media Sync
    Delete all the files here.
Go to %appdata%\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Media Sync
    Delete all the files here.
    Try using MediaSync again.
    Cheers
    M

  • BlackBerry Media Sync Failed to connect to your BlackBerry device

I am trying to successfully sync my blackberry bold 9000 with itunes via the BB media sync program. I have successfully installed desktop manager and can sync contacts, email, add applications and can sync via Roxio media manager (painfully though). However when I open BB Media Sync I get an error Msg saying 'Blackberry Media Sync Failed to connect to your blackberry device - Retry or Cancel' It displays the device PIN in the window but still says please conect a blackberry device. I have mass storage mode turned on, media card support, USB drivers installed and have checked the media card is inserted correctly. When I try to find my blackberry in 'My Computer' it does not appear to be there either. What am I doing wrong?? Please help

  • Blackberry Media sync crashes after updating in Windows Vista

Hi, I installed Desktop Manager v4.6. in Windows Vista Business edition. When I try to use the Media Manager, it tells me that the Blackberry Media Sync is not installed and it prompts me if I want to install it. After it downloads and attempts to install the Media Sync, it crashes, it says "Blackberry Desktop manager has stopped working" and you can only Close the program or check online for solutions (which they don't give you any). Any ideas why this happens?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Personally, I don't use Media Manager. Don't like it.
You can enable Mass Storage on your Media Card and drag and drop files to and from the Media Card quite easily.

  • Media synch to itunes doesn't work

i use a 8830 world edition with verizon.  I have installed the latest version of media synch.  The phone clearly is connected, and all the playlists that I could synch show up, but are grayed out, and none will synch. I tried reinstalling the desktop manager latest version (4.7).  Any suggestions?

Both links worked for me, the first taking me via a page in English that asked me to confirm that I wanted my browser to launch iTunes to handle the request. The second in German asking the same. In both cases I was taken to the store page where 1 iPhone and 2 iPad apps are listed.
What browser are you using? With Chrome I had to add an extension to handle requests to the store so that they opened with iTunes.
