Installing itunes on a windows vista computer

When I did the download and install I received this message Could not access network location %APPDATA%\. What is this and how do I correct it in order to put i-tunes on this computer? Thanks

Could not access network location %APPDATA%\
With that particular variety of 1606 (it's a 1606 error message even though the 1606 error message number isn't returned by the iTunes installer), the following Microsoft document is worth a try:

The article says that I should upgrade to the latest iTunes. I am on the latest iTunes version.
If you could read just a tiny little bit further, under the "Additional Information" section immediately after that, it says:
If you are still experiencing this issue when syncing, or have not installed Xcode 4 and get this alert:
Follow the troubleshooting steps in Mac OS X v10.5, v10.6: Resetting the SyncServices folder.
If the issue is still unresolved, follow steps in Sync Services: Advanced troubleshooting for contact and calendar syncing.
    Have you tried those measures?

  • I cannot install itunes on my windows vista

I try to install itunes on my windows vista, it gives me a error

    "iTunesSetup.exe não é um aplicativo Win32 válido"
That suggests that the installer is getting damaged during the download.
I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

  • CAN'T INSTALL ITUNES 9 ON WINDOWS VISTA 64-BIT OS

    Hey guys!
I'm having a reaaaallly hard time installing iTunes on my Windows Vista 64-bit OS. Everytime I think it's about to finish installing, it shows me this message:
What does it mean?? Can someone PLEASE help me, I haven't had music on my iPhone for 4 weeks now!

Curses ... you did everything right by providing the screenshot, thanks. But we really need to see the error message number that shows up after the "HRESULT" bit for one of those, and it's deciding not show us that.
Okay ... people who get these error messages for iTunes installs typically are also getting Windows updates failures too. So we'll try to work out what the iTunes/Updates issue is by checking your Update history.
Go into your Windows Update and click "Update History". Have updates been failing for you recently? If so, doubleclick on each failure to bring up a small window showing some info about the failure.
What error message codes are you getting for the Windows Updates failures? (For example, 0x8007000B, or something else?)

  • Error while installing itunes software on windows vista 32 bit operating system.

Hi friends,I am getting an itune installation error,Microsoft.VC80.CRT.version=8.0.50727.4053,The operating system in windows vista,i donwloaded itunes with IE as well as firefox, but always same error message is coming. Please help me out with this error.

I browsed this page earlier, and now im back to explain how i fixed my problem which is similar to yours.
All of the below must be followed manually: (that windows msgbox error is just confusing you) be reminded that:
%appdata% is not a network location. It is a systemwide variable used by Windows OS. %appdata% is a directory on your computer
I have win 7 OS, and i tweaked the below values so the Nokia_PC_Suite will install:
follow ALL of the following one by one:
    -----first, the package----
first, go to the file which you downloaded from the net, (usually: Nokia_PC_Suite_eng_web.exe) right click the file and click properties, then click the compatibility tab and tick "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" then (select your OS on drop down box) then also click the lowermost button, "Run this program as administrator" then click OK. and close the properties box.
----second, the registry----(carefull a little mistake will render your machine unusable, so don't mess inside registry)
enter your registry by >> Start > Run > "type" regedit (without the word type) expand the following:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders, (on the right pane) you will see AppData, double click AppData and change the value to: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming
do the above to below location also: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
    ----third, Windows environment variables----
in your windows, right click the "My Computer", then click "Properties" then click the Advanced tab, on the lowermost of the window click the button [Environment Variables], click edit and change the value of "Temp" to variable value: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming.
Now double click (re-install) the Nokia package which you have downloaded from Nokia website and i hope it will install flawlessly this time

I have tried every trick in the book and read every thread on why my version of Windows Vista will not allow me to get at the iTunes Store.  I cannot even get this new iPod Touch to sync with iTunes.

  • Windows installer won't install iTunes 10.5 Windows Vista 64

Can't install iTunes 10.5 on my operating system. I'm running windows vista home premium 64.
Every time I try, a window installer alert pops up. It says; This installation package could not be,
opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor
To verify that this is a valid windows installer package. I recently had to reinstall my operating system
Using my recovery discs. I got all my updates including service pack 2, but I noticed some updates did not install.
Could that be the issue ? Can anyone help ? Thanks Sam

    Repair your Apple Software Update:
Go to START/ALL PROGRAMS/Apple Software Update. If it offers you a newer version of Apple Software Update, do it but Deselect any other software offered at the same time. Once done, try another iTunes install

  • Installing itunes 10 on windows vista home premium

I know this may have been covered here but i need to know how to change the permissions on the admin account on my computer so i can install system services like bonjour. Ive tried to install itunes 10 multiple times and it keeps coming up with "the service failed to start. verify you have sufficient priveleges to install system services." I thought i did being logged in on as admin....
btw im not tech head so explanations keep them simple!
this is giving me so much headache!!! i just want to upgrade the itunes it shouldnt be this hard..

Ive tried to install itunes 10 multiple times and it keeps coming up with "the service failed to start. verify you have sufficient priveleges to install system services."
We can sometimes get past that one by disabling the BonJour Service prior to an iTunes install.
In your Start Menu, right-click "Computer" and select "Manage".
    Expand "Services & Applications"
Open "Services". Maximise the window to better see what's going on.
Right-click on the BonJour Service and select "Properties".
In the "General" Tab, change the Startup type to "Disabled" and click OK.
    Restart the PC (very important).
Now try another iTunes install. Does it go through any better this time?

  • Problems Installing iTunes 10 with Windows Vista

I am running Windows Vista (32 bit) and have installed iTunes 10. Any time I try to launch iTunes I receive the following message: "iTunes needs to be repaired to work with Vista. Use the 'Programs and Features' control panel to repair iTunes."
The bigger problem is when I open the Programs and Features control panel, iTunes is not listed as a program. All of the other iTunes components are listed(Apple Application Support, Apple Mobile Device Support, Apple Software Update, Bonjour). However, I can see iTunes (version 10) in the C:>Programs Files>iTunes folder, just not in the control panel.
I was going to attempt to uninstall and reinstall as numerous posts have suggested, however, since the program does not appear in the control panel, I have not been able to uninstall it.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Try using b noir's directions from this thread to get rid of itunes

  • CAN'T INSTALL ITUNES ON MY WINDOWS VISTA 64-BIT SYSTEM

    Hey guys,
I'm having a hard time installing Itunes on my 64-bit Windows Vista system. Everytime I think it's about to finish installing, it shows this message.
Someone, please help me! I haven't had music on my iPhone for 4 weeks now!

Not Windows RT then .  When you say "I've tried both" do you mean the 32- and 64-bit installers for Windows?  In the first instance you should go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ - this should detect the version of Windows you are running and offer the correct installer.  It'll look like this:
Click on Download Now - this will download the correct installer for you to run and install iTunes.
There is, however, some anecdotal evidence that the scripts on the Apple site that are supposed to detect the version of Windows you are running may fail for some users - jumping straight to the "Thank you for downloading ..." page with the installer not having been downloaded.  As an alternative, you can go directly to the relevant downloads:
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe
of which you'll need the second one.  See turingtest2's notes on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for more details if you're still having problems with installation; you may also need to consult HP's helpdesk as the error message you report may be symptomatic of a Windows issue, not an iTunes one.
