Installing Itunes v. 7 on XP - won't load - no error message

I know nothing about computers. I previously had v. 6 and can play music, but can't preview or download videos. I tried downloading v. 7 & quicktime. It thanks me for downloading, but nothing has downloaded, and I received no error messages. How do I get I tunes to realize that it hasn't downloaded, and how do I actually get it to download?

Yeah, and try turning off your antivirus programs. Sometimes they think its a malicious program and block the install. Also, save the install to your hard drive and run it from there instead of running the download and install over the internet.

  • Just installed itunes but when i try to open it this error message pops up: "apple application support required." I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but nothing works

Just installed itunes but when i try to open it this error message pops up: "apple application required" then it suggests uninstalling and reinstalling which i've done a few times but nothing works

When you say you have tried everything, it would help if you told us what you have tried to avoid duplication.
When you installed iTunes did you get any error messages?
Anyway, on the face of it it may be worth trying a separate install of Apple application support.
Uninstall iTunes again. Now open Apple Software update, assuming it is working.
It should offer to download iTunes. Don't do it yet, go to the Tools menu and select Download only.
Then download iTunes. Then go to the tools menu again and select Open download folder and you should see a collection of six files.
Before going on, can you get to this stage OK?
One further thing I would like you to check, are you ahving any problems with Windows updates? Could you check in Windows Update to see if there are any failures.

  • When installing Itunes 10.4.1 manually I get the following error message

With that particular variety of 1606 (it's a 1606 error message even though the 1606 error message number isn't returned by the iTunes installer), the following Microsoft document is worth a try:

  • Install ITunes on A Windows 7 64 bit and get error message

I am trying to install ITunes on A Windows 7 64bit and get the following error microsoft.vc80.crt,version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32",publickeytoken="1fc8b3 b9a1e18e3b",processorarchitecture="x86"HRESULT:0x8007054F

Are you using the 32 or 64 bit version? There are two versions of iTunes. One is for 64 bit processor architecture, one is for 32 bit processor architecture.
Please download the 64 bit version and test it! In my view you try to install the 32 bit version.
    Kind regards!
    Philipp
EDIT: I am sure you currently try to install the 32 bit version! It doesn't work on a 64 bit system. Are you sure that you use Windows with 64 bit?

  • Had to re-install iTunes. Get so far, then I get an error message

I was prompted to upgrade iTunes to the new version 11.1.4. In doing so, I was getting an error message that it installed improperly, and received another dialogue box telling me to re-install iTunes. So, I un-installed it, and tried re-installing. It seems to go so far, and then I get an error message that says ...
Service 'Apple Mobile Device' failed to start. Verify you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
Then it gives me three options to Abort, Retry, and Ignore.
The Retry and Ignore simply takes me back to the same message above.
Help please. Now I have nothing.

I also have this problem with getting photos from IPad to PC after having to re-install my PC.  I am also afraid I will lose all my photos.  I can only syn the Camera Roll photos, but have a lot more in other folders on my iPad.  Cannot get them to the PC.

  • ITunes 7.0.1.8 won't launch - no error messages

On 10/19/06 I upgraded to iTunes 7. The version on my system is 7.0.1.8. After installation and restart, I clicked on the icon and got a message that QuickTime wasn't up-to-date so I updated it. The on my system is 7.1.3.130. Since then I cannot launch iTunes. When I click on the icon the hourglass comes up for about 5 seconds and then disappears. I have gotten no error messages. I have used Repair on both iTunes and QT from the Add/Remove program screen.
I have read many of the postings here in the forum and am not certain what to do next. Could someone point me to course of action to take to uninstall/reinstall/downgrade, whatever, without screwing up the rest of my system?
I am running Win XP Pro, ZoneAlarm Security Suite, and as far as I know all my software is up-to-date.

OK, I took a deep breath and did the following:
-- using Add/Remove Programs, I removed all Apple products
-- I also removed the new Google toolbar just in case
-- I ran the Disk CleanUp system utility
    -- I defragged the C drive
    -- I restarted the PC
    -- I went to Apple.com
    -- I enabled pop-ups
-- I turned off the ZA Security Suite
-- I asked for the download of 7.0
-- It worked and iTunes loaded at the end
-- I restarted the PC w/ the Security back on
-- iTunes still worked after this test
I have to say I am hesitant about hooking up the iPod though. Maybe another day ... I hate messing w/ this stuff

  • Firefox just won't start, but IE starts ok ~ I have uninstalled Firefox and downloaded Firefox and reinstalled, but still won't load ~ no error messages show

I have run Firefox with no problems for years, but all of a sudden the last 2 days it just won't load. IE and email works okay. I was able to download Firefox by using IE to get on the internet, but I just can't get Firefix to work. Have rebooted a number of times.

I am running XP/Pro SP3. Last Patch Tuesday I installed the latest Microsoft updates. Yesterday I updated Firefox from 3.6.11 to 3.6.12. Since then I have been unable to start Firefox.
Using the desktop icon, using the start menu icon, double clicking firefox.exe all do nothing - a slight flurry of activity and then nothing.
There are no reports in Event Viewer relating to Firefox.
As reported by another, Internet Explorer works.
I just installed 3.6.11 over top of 3.6.12 and Firefox works again.
Since I would rather have the security updates of 3.6.12, I hope you can get to the bottom of this soon.
    Thanks
    Lloyd

    Resolution
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:

  • HT5654 iTunes auto update downloaded and installed on 28/01/2014. iTunes now won't launch and error message states file MSVCR80.dll is missing. Tried uninstalling and downloading/installing again to no avail. Any clues?

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

Installed the 7.5 update last night. After it rebooted my MacBook spotlight/finder won't load & continually error. Any ideas? As of now, the only way I can access my hard drive is via terminal in the leopard boot disk.

Had to boot from Leopard DVD...run terminal...delete iTunes & QuickTime (to get rid of current versions)...reinstall Leopard (which loaded the downgraded versions of iTunes & QuickTime). Finder/Spotlight now works.
