Installing new SCCM 2012 infrastructure over an existing SCCM 2012 Infrastructure

Greetings,
I currently have a standalone SCCM 2012 environment running in production.  This implementation isn't in a hierarchy and doesn't support Macs (non-PKI/HTTPS infrastructure), but is managing 1500 PC clients beautifully.
However, we have some sites out-of-state that need to be in their own Primary Site, as well as Macs across both sites need managing as well.
I have made a new environment entirely on 2012 infrastructure (2012 SCCM, 2012 Server, and 2012 SQL).  This includes a CAS at the top, a PRI for my current site, and SQL for both (all on different hardware, new names, etc.).  I've installed a PKI
infrastructure, and it's currently working fine managing the three servers it contains.
I need to start migrating all of the clients and services to the 'new' SCCM implementation, but pushing the SCCM client installs to over the old SCCM doesn't seem to change any settings.  Nor does changing site settings in the control panel of a client.
Anyone know how to configure new site settings without re-installing the SCCM clients on the 'old' infrastructure?
Thanks~

Have you ever used group policy for site assignment? This caught me out when upgrading to a new site code. If it has ever been used, it brands the registry and no amount of tinkering in the configuration manager console or client installation methods could
fix it.
To fix our site, I removed the offending GPO settings and set the 'GPRequestedSiteAssignmentCode', 'GPSiteAssignmentRetryDuration(Hours)' and 'GPSiteAssignmentRetryInterval(Min)' items under 'HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SMS\Mobile Client' to delete via GPP.
Details and symptoms I found at http://blog.coretech.dk/heh/new-agents-will-not-re-assign-to-configmgr-2012-site/.
Jilhad,
Looks like most of the machines I was testing were indeed installed via GP before I was able to install via the console.
Deleting those registry keys allowed me to push the install over the old environment using 'Install Client' from the 'Devices' console, specifying to re-install client.
Now, I just have to figure out a script to remove those keys via SCCM
***Most of you were wondering why I was installing a CAS environment, it's really because this site doesn't conform all that well to our policies, and they will ultimately be administering their own environment.  It seemed to me that it would be easier
for me to delegate control/permissions/data using a hierarchy.  It was a tough decision, ***
Thank you all for your help!

We have already installed the ERP package (ECC) and we have enough memory and diskspace on the server and there we are considering installing Enterprise Portal over the existing server so that we can use both ECC and EP.
How can we do this? What are the steps to do it? I want to make sure that we don't corrupt the existing SAP stuff on the server, but just want to install enterprise portal .

  • Installing new 5.1 Bootcamp over old one?

A cursory search on this didn't turn up any results, or maybe I'm just asking the question wrong...
On a 2012 rMBP, I have Mavericks and Win7 via Bootcamp 5.0 (latest available at the time)
Now that Bootcamp 5.1 is out, is it standard practice to simply install this (from OSX) without fear of hosing Windows 7? The nVidia display drivers that (presumably) came bundled in the initial Bootcamp package are getting a bit stale and I was hoping 5.1 would update that a bit -- though not at the risk of jeopardizing anything on the Win7 side of things.
I'm not familiar with the mechanics of Bootcamp, so not sure if it automatically does some kind of routine repartitioning/formatting.
    TIA

Thank you LT. That helps clarify things.
I wasn't sure if directly updating hardware drivers from the Windows side was permissible or if some sort of permissions/blessing was needed from the OSX side first.
A post I was following in another forum made it seem like there was some dependency between the two OSes:

    no, you do not.
in addition, if you want to use your catalog from pse 6, you should prepare to migrate it, http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/backup-restore-move-catalog-photoshop.html

Actually, I was trying to Import the browser settings (history) from Fedora 14 to Fedora 15. In the meantime firefox - between restarts - says a new version is available. That's why I'm trying to install it. YUM UPDATE says there is nothing to do however.
What should I do? Mu current version id 5.

    Hi Thomas!
You probably have your browser set to "Open "safe" files after downloading".
That is why the download was opened, and both icons appeared.
    Actually not a safe setting.
The "icon that looks to have a picture of a hard drive on it" is what you downloaded, and was opened to reveal the "a rectagular icon with FIREFOX on it". Which contains the actual FireFox application.
The "icon that looks to have a picture of a hard drive on it" can be put in the Trash, or you can keep it for future use.
Double click on the "rectagular icon with FIREFOX on it".
From the window that opens, drag the Firefox icon into the Applications folder.
Restart and the "rectagular icon with FIREFOX on it" be be in gone as well.
    Don't forget to Repair Permissions!
    Good Luck!

We have deployed "Internet Explorer 11" application  through SCCM 2012 console .the deployed application was customized using "Internet Explorer customization wizard 11" tool.
    issue:
we are getting  "install new versions automatically" check box as checked
when we see from help about  "about internet Explorer"
    seeking solution:
how to uncheck "install new versions automatically" check box from SCCM 2012 console.
please let me know if we have any solution for this instant

    Hi,
For option: "install new versions automatically", we can simply prevent it via GPO or registry (the registry entry can also be deployed via GPO)
Computer Configuration - Administrative Templates - Windows Components - Internet Explorer - Install new versions of Internet Explorer automatically
    Or
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]

  • Is there a way to change an existing SCCM 2012 site server intranet FQDN name to lowercase?

Does anyone know if there is a way to change the intranet (not internet) FQDN name of an existing SCCM 2012 site server to all lowercase letters?  You used to be able to do this in SCCM 2007.

I had a problem with WSUS updates not working via SCCM 2012 R2 during an operating system deployment. When examining the c:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log I found the following errors:
WARNING: SendRequest failed with hr = 80072ee2. Proxy List used: <****:8080;****:8080> Bypass List used : <(null)> Auth Schemes used : <>
+ Last proxy send request failed with hr = 0x80072EE2, HTTP status code = 0
WARNING: GetConfig failure, error = 0x80072EE2, soap client error = 5, soap error code = 0, HTTP status code = 200
After a LONG time researching this error I found it was related to the fact we were using a WPAD proxy implementation and apparently this doesnt cope well with uppercase characters for the WSUS server URL. I changed our GPO to be using lowercase lettering
but when examining the WindowsUpdate log again it still showed as being in uppercase. In the end I found that despite what your GPO setting says, this can get over written by the SCCM site server's own published WSUS location. You can check this by entering
    the following command:
    wmic /namespace:"\\root\CCM\SoftwareUpdates\WUAHandler" PATH CCM_UpdateSource
Unfortunatelty in SCCM 2012 there is no GUI way to amend the intranet FQDN used for the WSUS location so I then turned to directly editing the database (which anyone will tell you is not recommended, but by this point i was DESPERATE!).
In the end it solved all my troubles so if anyone finds themselves in this situation, you can fix it by going to the SCCM database and within the table 'WSUSServerLocations', change the WSUSServerName to be in lowercase letters.

  • Windows 7 Ultimate isn't installing on my iMac. Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition

I have a 21.5" iMac (Late 2012) running OS X Mavericks. I'm trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate via Bootcamp but whenever i get to the setup part it goes wrong
These are the steps I followed
I selected all the options since I didn't have the drivers or an install disk
it copied the Windows 7 iso image, downloaded the support software, and saved the support software to the flash drive (8GB)
    I selected a partition size - I gave windows roughly 100GB
    and I let it install
Right now I'm at the part where it says " where do you want to install windows? I selected the bootcamp partition and formatted it. It now says
"Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the Setup log files for more information"
    WHAT DO I DO?

I had to read the apple instructions several times before they started to make sense.  I burned my iso onto a DVD and had the required USB for support software.  Are you trying to use the single USB method?
This article has a lot of info on the single usb method

  • SCOM 2012 R2 Agent Deployment - Uninstall Old and Install New

By chance anyone come up with a scripted method for removing an existing SCOM 2012 SP1 agent and installing a new 2012 R2 agent? While I've come across a few scripts I'm trying to kill a few birds with one stone. This is a cross-domain attempt where the
SCOM servers sit in one domain and the member servers are scattered across multiple domains. Member servers range from Windows Server 2003, 2008, and 2012. In most cases the servers have the 2012 SP1 agent installed and in some cases there are multiple management
groups from previous SCOM standups. In addition there's a separate DEV SCOM 2012 R2 environment to manage DEV/QA servers. Active Directory Integration is configured and I have the necessary security groups created. There is a group policy created which is
filtered to just that security group. So the plan is to simply drop the servers into the correct group and have the agent installed via group policy start up script. ADI should have DEV servers appear in DEV SCOM and PROD in PROD SCOM.
Although there are ways to facilitate agent deployment via the console I need to perform a staged migration against a ton of server so as to not impact the existing production environment. So I'd rather do this remotely to pre-selected servers. This process
should involve removing the existing agent, installing the new one, and if possible removing any existing management groups. So far I've come up with the following:
    Uninstall SCOM Agent:
    %WinDir%\System32\msiexec.exe /x <path>\MOMAgent.msi /qb
    Install SCOM Agent:
    msiexec.exe /i \\path\Directory\MOMAgent.msi /qn /l*v \logs\MOMAgent_install.log USE_SETTINGS_FROM_AD=0 MANAGEMENT_GROUP=<MG_Name> MANAGEMENT_SERVER_DNS=<MSDNSName> ACTIONS_USE_COMPUTER_ACCOUNT=0 ACTIONSUSER=<AccountUser> ACTIONSDOMAIN=<AccountDomain>
    ACTIONSPASSWORD=<AccountPassword>
    Remove Management Group via Script
    http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/Remove-a-Management-group-336c849a/view/Discussions#content
I'm guessing this wheel has already been invented or maybe there's a better way. So I'm open to ideas or suggestions.
    Any responses appreciated.

Wow! 4 days and no responses, not good Microsoft SCOM Community. So here's a status on this issue.
As stated I have Active Directory Integration configured which means:
I see the OperationsManager container in AD: dev_scom
I see the HealthService SCP and separate OU's for each of my management servers.
I have an ADI security group containing my management servers and scom action account.
I have an Agent security group which will contain servers the scom agent will be deployed via group policy.
I also have an AD LDAP query set to target the SCOM agent group.
    (&(objectCategory=group)(name=DSCOM_ADI))
I finally get the script to install via the following steps:
    Reference:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc754995.aspx
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc770556.aspx
    http://blog.coretech.dk/msk/install-a-scom-2012-agent-silent/
    1. Launch Notepad ++ and enter the following:
    msiexec /i
    \\server.yourdomain.com\opsmgragent\%Processor_Architecture%\MOMAgent.msi USE_SETTINGS_FROM_AD=1 MANAGEMENT_GROUP=DEV_SCOM MANAGEMENT_SERVER_DNS=YourSCOMsrvr1.yourdomain.com ACTIONS_USE_COMPUTER_ACCOUNT=0 USE_MANUALLY_SPECIFIED_SETTINGS=0 ACTIONSUSER=svc_dscom
    ACTIONSDOMAIN=yourdomain ACTIONSPASSWORD=YourPassword! AcceptEndUserLicenseAgreement=1 /qn /l*v c:\scom2012r2mmainstall.log
    2. Save the script to a name of your choice. For me it's installdopsmgragent.cmd. Watch the extensions as you may end up saving it as installdopsmgragent.cmd.txt.
Note: Make note of this steps in the reference articles listed above:
"In the Add a Script dialog box, do the following:
In the Script Name box, type the path to the script, or click Browse to search for the script file in the Netlogon shared folder on the domain controller."
It's been a while since having to use a startup script so it took me a minute to figure this out. "getting too old 'fer this..."
    3. Copy the script to the Netlogon folder which is located in the following directory on my Windows 2012 server: E:\SYSVOL\sysvol\yourdomain.com\scripts
    4. Launch the group policy management console, create a new policy, edit it, and navigate to the following location:
Computer Configuration > Policies > Windows Settings > Scripts (Startup/Shutdown)
    5. Double-click Startup to open the Startup Properties window.
    6. Click Add and browse to the location of the script which you copied to the Netlogon share.
    7. Click OK to close the Startup Properties window.
    8. Close the Group Policy Management Editor.
    9. Link the policy to an OU containing the servers.
    10. Add the SCOM Agent group to the Security Filtering area of the group policy. I also remove Authenticated Users.
Note: make sure you have a few test servers in your Agent security group.
    11. Drop to a command line and run gpupdate /force. You can also use gpupdate /force /sync but you will have to reboot the box you're running this from.
    12. Log into one of the servers you have slated to deploy the agent to, drop to a command line, and run the same gpupdate command.
    13. Follow this with a gpresult /r command to ensure that you see the policy applied in the Computer Settings area.
    14. Reboot the server and you should see the startup script run.
    15. Log into the server and launch the Control Panel.
    16. If all went well you'll see the "Microsoft Monitoring Agent" icon.
    17. Launch Event Viewer, navigate to the Operations Manager events node located under Applications and Services Logs and validate the logs.
    17. If all didn't go well check the error log located, for me, on the C:\scom2012r2mmainstall.log
My issue: I don't see the management info in the Agent properties.
I installed this last night and waited until the next day still no changes. Event logs show the following:
Event ID: 2011 The Health Service did not find any policy in Active Directory
Event ID: 2003 No management groups were started.  This may either be because no management groups are currently configured or a configured management group failed to start.  The Health Service will wait for policy from Active Directory configuring
    a management group to run.
I see the HealthService is Running in Task Manager on this server and of course I don't see anything listed in the Management Groups registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HealthService\Parameters\
I don't want to manually add the management group info. Checking as I may have missed something in one of the switches.
    Any responses appreciated.
