  • Installing Photoshop CC and Lightroom from Photoshop Phototgraphy Program

I already own and have installed Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 5.3 on my computer.  Do I need to uninstall these before installing the creative cloud versions or can I just leave them there?

I have the same problem, I could install Photoshop CC, Bridge CC but I couldn't install Lightroom. The Creative Cloud Window tells me that Lightroom is installed on my machine. I don't want to uninstall Lightroom before I start the installation of Lightroom from the Creative Cloud.
How is the way to do this. I have found no option to do this.
    Thank you very much.

  • Moving Mail, Address Book and Keychains from Old Computer to New Computer

My issue: Moving mail, address book and keychains from Panther (old machine) to Leopard (new machine). Old machine (500mh G4 power pc) will not connect directly via firewire to new machine (iMac intel). So, I have to move the files manually via a firewire hard drive.
I am looking for a document that will tell me exactly which files to move. Can someone please help me find this document? Thank you. Dale
P.S. I have no issues with installing Leopard. I only need to move the mail, address book and keychains from old to new machine. No .mac account is available.

for address book: go to your old mac, launch ab, and go to file>export and export your contacts as vcards, select all cards before that, then bring that export file to the new mac, and launch ab there, then go to file>import as vcards and you should be set as far as contacts are, but not as far as groups if you have extensive groups. that would be the safe option. the other option is to go to homefolder/library/application support/address book and move that folder to the new mac. the only question i have is... is the database structure and files the same between panther and leopard, which is why i suggest the first option of import/export of vcards.
for mail, in your old panther go to homefolder/library/mail and move that mail folder to the new mac. make a copy of that folder, then move one copy to the same location in the new mac.
for keychain, in your old panther go to homefolder/library/keychain, you want to bring the file that is in that folder to your new mac. make a copy of that folder, then move one copy to the same location in the new mac.
once that is done, you may have to do some more steps with mail, once you launch mail, such as importing mailboxes. let me know if that is the case.
    hope this helps

  • Transfering photos from old laptop to new with different versions of PS elmnts

We have PS Elements 4 on an old lap top, running Windows Vista, which is beginning to fail.
Have just purchased new lap top running Windows 8 which will not accept PS Elements 4 as it is incompatible, but it has partially loaded.
Shop says they transfered photos across from one to the other but cannot find any of the tags for 7000 plus photos.
Am intending to buy PS Elements 12. but being 70 plus am not computer savvy.
Is there a step by step idiots guide on how to get said 7000 plus photos, complete with all the tags on them, from old LT to new LT at the same time converting them from PSE4 to PSE 12.

This document is from Adobe, certainly not step-by-step!  If you plan to convert the old catalog, I suggest that you get help in view of the reservation which you have identified.

  • Getting my iTunes library fully from old laptop to new one.

I have an old ibook G4 (Ver. 10.4.11)(not intel) and just got MacBook Air (Ver. 10.9.2).  I want to transfer my iTunes all the way onto the new computer without having to hassle with sharing and turning the old laptop on.  Can I transfer my  iTunes library easily? I suck at tech. but am good at following directions.

Theoretically Migration Assistant should move everything, but that's a big jump.
    For just iTunes:
iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music [library] to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527 - a somewhat bewildering and not always easily understandable set of options.
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the iTunes Library.itl file in the moved iTunes folder.
For the record there's this reference for iTunes 11 but it really doesn't strike me as having the specifics you need. iTunes 11 for Mac: Move your library to another computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12168
2011 ilounge article: Transferring your iTunes library - http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/moving-your-itunes-library-to -a-new-hard-drive/  - An article with good background information (similar to the first link above), particularly if you are not sure your media files are all grouped for quick solution above. Unfortunately under the single term "transferring library" it describes two very different moves; relocating just your media (not recommended unless you really need this configuration), and relocating media+database (really your whole "library").  Make sure you understand the difference before electing to move only media (you really do need to transfer the whole library in your situation).
If you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music  then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there.  (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)

  • Buying & Installing Photoshop CC and Lightroom - Help

I Hate Adobe...Which I have always revered in the past. But this experience has been the worst software purchase & installation process in my life! This is most painful process I have ever been through trying to purchase and install software. User Friendly--No. Compatibility with Standard Market Software (Microsoft) -- A Laugh! Speed - A Joke. Access to Customer Service?? Pitiful.
    Can you quote me? Yes!
I'm guessing the system is totally overwhelmed but the design is flawed to begin with.
At this point, I feel, after more than 6 hrs of trying to buy and install this product it will never happen. I will probably cancel tomorrow.

    Hi John...
    Thanks for your reply.
Well, of course I was stupid to wait until the last day of the special to purchase this awesome package, but that is what I did.
    This is what happened yesterday:
I got onto the web site and attemped to sign in with my oid Adobe ID and password. The system said that I needed to supply a new password. An email would be sent for me to use to enter a new passward. A reasonable request....however it was 1.5 hrs before  the email arrived (and I am on high speed cable). So then I changed my password which happened reasonably quickly so I thought I was on my way. Then it asked for my B-day. Another reasonable request. I entered the data. Nothing happened for an hour. Tried again, and again, and again....and 3 hours later I decided this was never going to happen on 12/31 and gave up.
This morning, I was having breakfast with some friends, one of whom said it  had taken him all day to purchase and download the software on 12/31, but he had gotten it done. Also, we thought maybe the site was still up and looked, and low and behold it was....so I figured if it was still up I would try again today. So about noon I signed in. This time, I got the delay again on inputting my birthday, but on the 3rd attempt I succeeded. While I waiting for the birthday field to get updated I had been looking all over for the online chat with customer/technical service. It wasn't easy to find. which to me is a real user friendly problem....it should be on every page. I found the web site where I input my complaint, but I was really looking for online technical support. Anyway, I did find the chat, and that was pretty good...only waited about 5 minutes for person. And at the same time my birthday update took, and I entered the payment data (went fast) and I got the message that I could Download.
I happened to be on my laptop at that point, sitting in front of my desktop. My laptop has Vista. Of course I got the message that Vista was unsupported. I was still in the chat and the person confirmed Vista was unsupported and never would be supported. Well, admittedly Vista is a crappy OS, but there is a lot of them out there. So, then I asked the guy if XP was supported, (Yes, I know I could have read this on the web site and saved myself grief, but you know users don't read!). He replied that yes, XP was supported as long as I had Service Pack 3 installed. I said OK, and I would take it  from there.
I went onto my desktop, which has XP. I ran the Download, and it said, you have XP but don't have SPK 3, so can't Download. I remembered that I hadn't done that update, so then I went and installed SPK 3. That went successfully. I really thought we had it now!  I went back to the email I had received to do the download and it took me to the cloud download center (it seemed to me the first time the email took me directly to the download of the software I had purchased). So here I am at a page with umpteen applications on it. None of which are titled exactly what I purchased. Hum....what to pick? So I decide to pick Photoshop. And it comes with a Download page, and a choice of CC or CS6. Since I bought CC in the package, I select that Download and it says operating system incompatible. I went to "Cloud" severel more times to try to find the page with what I purchased, even to going to the page with my account line item, but all took  me  back to same Download screen that didn't work for me. Of course I never even attempted Lightroom,
I'm sure you right that there are millions of happy users, but I am not one of them, and I a very technical user. Sigh... it's probably error or XP is not compatible.
    Thank you for listening.

  • How do you guys transfer photoshop cs6 from old laptop to new one?

    Hi,
I'm trying to transfer photoshop cs6 from my old macbook to new one.
I tried to do it through using migration, but it doesn't work.
Is there a better solution? or do I need to buy new one ?

Migration does not work well with Adobe programs. Deactivate it on your old machine. Then use the Creative Cloud Cleaner on the new machine to get rid of the unsuccessfully migrated software.  https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html
Then do a complete new install on the new machine, and activate it.

  • Transferring Photoshop CS4 and Lightroom from Macbook to new Imac

    Hello all,
I am currently running Photoshop CS4 extended version 11.0.1 and Lightroom version 2.3 on an early Macbook model 1.1, I have the original install disks for Lightroom, but when upgrading to CS4 extended I downloaded the upgrade from the Adobe website. I am receiving a new Imac this month and would like to explore my options for correctly transferring (migrating?) these programs to the new Imac. My search on this forum reveals that migration assistant may not be the best option for these two programs, any insight is appreciated.

LR won't be a problem, just install it on the new computer. As long as you don't use them on both systems at the same time you won't violate the licensing terms.  If you LR was an update you will also need the key from the 1.x version.
For PS CS4 just run it on the MacBook and de-activate it (Help->Deactivate...). Then download the PS CS4 package from Adobe and install it on your new system using the same license keys you used to install it on the MacBook. Since you indicated you upgraded to CS4 (from what version you didn't say) you will need the license key from the original (CS, CS2, CS3??) and the license key to the upgrade to CS4.
After installation of PS CS4 you may also need to manually install updates as it is often the case that the Adobe updater doesn't recognize the fact that updates are available.

Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..
