Installing Photoshop CS2 on Macbook Pro
Hi--recently had hard drive swapped with another machine, so now I need to reactivate Photoshop CS2--would not take my original serial number, so I went to the adobe site and downloaded the leagacy version and used the serial number provided for me. i am still getting an error which says "invalid serial number". I have downloaded it but when I try to install the message says 'Installation failed. The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Looks like you're looking at buying a full version of CS6 or subscribing to the cloud. :-/

I need help installing Photoshop on my Macbook Pro.
I am trying to install Photoshop on my Macbook pro running OSX 10.6.8 for my student photographer daughter. Every time I try to install either the 30 day trial or buy the monthly plan it tells me that the computer can't establish a secure connection and suggests that the url has changed. I checked it on my Mac at work, today but it looks fine. She needs Photoshop, not necessarily the fastest newest version for college, but needs to use it from this older Macpro. Any thoughts?

Adobe Photoshop CS2 in Macbook Pro
During installation of Adobe Photoshop CS2, the installer runs and freezes in the midst. There is no way of installing Adobe Photoshop CS2 with intel processor. Full reinstallation of Mac OSX doesn't help. Running disk utility doesn't help either. Problems occurred with or without installing of Apple Security Update 2006-003(intel). Any comments?
Edwin, thanks for the input, and I do apologize. You are right. I should be easier with which to live. There are two major problems out there right now. That is also part of the problem. We are not used to two problems in our domain.
I own 20 Mac's in my office, and I only did these updates on my MacBook Pro 17 inch and my G5 Dual 2.3 Ghz machine that has two 30-inch Cinema Displays. I had both problems on my MacBook Pro, and the G5 had the reboot glitch. I won't update the other machines untill these problems are resolved by the OEMs.
Of the two major hiccups out there, this link indicates Quicktime's update is the source of the inability to restart machines, fixed by deleting startup items, I believe. I had this reboot problem also.

Accrobat's freezing the system, the question at hand, is a result of the Security Update, fixed by rolling back to a pre-Security Update state using Archive & Install re-installation of the OS. Archive & Install does not erase your files or network settings.
Apple has released two products that fouled these systems. Bad Quality Assurance I think. I am not sure if the Security Update problem is an Apple or an Adobe software problem, i.e., Adobe may have not followed some software guidance. I am certain both companies are aware of the problem, but I am uncertain of the fix for Acrobat. We probably do need to update for security, but I can't live without Acrobat. So I will wait it out without the Security Update. -

I have this message appearing "You can't open the application "Install Adobe Photshop" because PowerPC applications are no longer supported."

Installing Photoshop C6C on MacBook Pro Retina
Hi, I have been trying to install Photoshop C6C on OSX Mountain lion for days now. 5 support calls lately but no help. Most consultants just take the call then go offline. Others come up with ridiculous suggestions. Given I have spent $1k on software for no benefit, is it possible to pay someone from Abobe to install it so that it works? I assume it is all a question of money?

I've been a Photoshop user (yes, I paid full price for legit copies with serial numbers!) for nearly 15 years. Self-taught. Learned SO much and can practically do everything with my eyes closed. Well, today, I got shocking news when I discovered I cannot use my CS2 with my new MacBook Air. Mavericks OS doesn't support PPC things. Whatever that means. This is so awful and stressful for me. I never bothered to upgrade over the years because everything worked flawlessly... so why bother? But now I'm stuck. Even though I have a fully-paid for set of discs, they're worthless. I have been on this forum and online LITERALLY FOR SEVEN HOURS today trying to resolve this and I cannot for the life of me get any of the downloads or patches to work. Just venting. I'm sad. Just sitting here sobbing... and cursing... that there is no REAL PERSON I could talk to about this on the phone. This is way over my head and I'm so exhausted and emotionally drained and now I feel like this new laptop is worthless... until I apparently spend several hundred or thousand more dollars for a new PS?????? Ugh. WORST DAY EVER and ALL I wanted was to happily load my CS2 onto my new laptop and be on my way. It's just awful, like everyone says, how HORRID and NON-EXISTENT Adobe customer support is. I hate how they just send you to the forum (even though I'm sure all of you are awfully nice). Thanks for listening. Just wanted to air my sadness in case someone out there can help me with a solution.

StacyYour discs are no longer of any use, but you can download a special version that can be installed and activated. Whether or not it can work on your new machine is something else to wonder about. It is very old software.
The only option to install CS2 lies in the following linked web page. If you have already tried this and were unsuccessful then you might need to explain more about what occured when you tried.

Can't install Photoshop CS4 on Macbook Pro 10.8.3
When I try to install from my original disc, it freezes and stops the install about halfway through. Any fixes?

Photoshop CS4 has not been tested and you might face compatibility issues with MAC OS 10.8.3
Please consider upgrading to the latest CS6 version. You can even opt for a monthly subscription for it from Creative Cloud at a very nominal fee. -

Does anyone know how well the Intel Iris Pro installed on new 15" MacBook Pros performs using Photoshop and Lightroom? I have seen some differing opinions out there, and I would rather not shell out the extra cash for the Nvidia if I don't have to. I mostly do photo editing for business and personal use. I have not used the 3D function in Photoshop, but I would like to know that I could.

ThanksPlease don't say that CS2 doesn't work under Rosetta, when it does. There are performance issues, and for those who use CS2 for large, system intensive purposes have good reason to not want to upgrade to Intel, but that doesn't mean CS2 won't work.

To summarize, it may be an issue with either Quicktime 7.1 or Adobe Version Cue.

Have CS 5 Installed on my iMac and works ok. But installed on my new MacBook Pro it won't open NEF files from my Nikon D810. Displays NEF icons, but when I try and open them the response is: Make sure latest RAW updates are installed. If problem persists follow link: http://www.adobe.com/go/kb407111. Have installed Bridge 5.0.2.4; Raw Ref Version 7.0.0.308; DNG converter_8_7_1.dmg; Bridge 5.0.2 Update 2. Also same problem with Lightroom which I don't normally use. Lightroom_3_LS11_mac_3_6.dmg installed.
In the link you posted it states that the Nikon 810 requires ACR 8.6 or newer.
Version of ACR are specific to versions of Photoshop. You cannot use 8.6 nor even 7.0.in CS5.
I believe that ACR 6.7 is the latest that will work with CS5, so make sure you have this installed and get rid of ACR 7.
Having 2 versions of ACR will cause problems.
You have already downloaded DNG Converter 8.7.1.
Have you double clicked the DMG file to allow you to install DNG Converter on your computer?
Be aware that DNG converter is a stand-along application and not a plug-in.
You need to open DNG converter at select the FOLDER that contain your .NEF files.
Don't open the folder and try to select individual files, it doesn't work that way.
After converting your D810 files to DNGs you can then open the DNGs in CS5
The problem is your camera didn't exist when CS5 & its version of ACR was developed.
i don't use Lightroom, but the list mentions Lightroom 5.6 as needed to open D819 so your 3.6 version of LR won't cut it. -
