Installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1

Hello
I am unable to install Service pack 1 for Windows 7 home premium (OEM edition) and a couple of other updates, in the past the macbook has downloaded and installed windows updates fine, In this instance it downloads but I get a error message error 800B0100. I have tried everything down the windows path but have got nowhere, a search on the web suggests that while some people install this update on a Bootcamp partition others cannot.
Can anyone help.
Thanks
Stephen

You have OS 10.7 but not Bootcamp 4?
Friend of mine on OEM non Mac has similar long standing SP1 problem; as a possible/last solution,
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprogeneral/thread/64611492- 58b5-49d7-845e-59fb53c1c48f/
I see from search for W 7 SP1 error 800B0100 in Windows forums:
rename the \Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder to \Windows\SoftwareDistribution.old.
I learned (by doing it) that you can rename outside of safe mode in same login session if you disable Windows Update completely via control panel. Then you could turn W. Update back on & try again.
You will see more on this from Microsoft itself by search for: rename \Windows\SoftwareDistribution

  • Cannot install windows 7 service pack 1 on my HPE-400z desktop

I have an HP  hpe-400z desktop pc.  It is running windows 7 home premium operating system.   Ever since Windows 7 SP1 came out, my pc has been trying to install it.  Every time it tries to install, during the boot process the install fails and the system reverts back to original settings.  I get the error message E_FAIL  (0x80004005).  I have tried letting the automatic updater install this sp1 and I have also downloaded it, running the update, and then the same thing happens.  I have tried it without my security software running and get the same result.   This has been going on for so long now that I do not even bother to watch my machine boot up,- I know it is going to boot twice due to the failure of installing sp1.  Please help!

I would suggest you download the Win 7 Readiness Tool (see list of OS versions) located here
The System Update Readiness Tool can help fix problems that might prevent Windows updates and service packs from installing. For example, an update might not install if a damaged system file prevents the update from recognizing the version of Windows that's running on your computer.
If your computer is having problems installing an update or a service pack, download and install the tool, which runs automatically. Then, try installing the update or service pack again.

  • ITunes problems after trying to install Windows XP service pack 2

Hey guys, I've been having trouble with my iTunes among other programs recently, and I was wondering if anyone might be able to help. Basically, my iTunes has been acting strangely ever since I tried upgrading my Windows XP system with Service Pack 2. When it ran through installation, it got all the way through. However, once I rebooted the computer, it told me it was unable to complete due to an unstable system. So it told me to uninstall the software, and I removed it from my program list.
Unfortunately, once I complete removed it from my hard drive, several programs on my machine started to malfunction. Now, whenever I try to play iTunes, it just stops working all of a sudden along with the rest of the sound software on this computer.
The big problem is, I forgot to back up my system before I did all this, so now I'm worried that I'm stuck with this dysfunctional hybrid of a computer system. So now, I've tried reinstalling the old Service Pack 1 onto the computer, but it always seems to cancel in mid-installation.
I know this is probably of a topic that should be posted, on an XP forum, but I was hoping that maybe someone on here might be able to give me some advice on how to solve this problem. If not for my computer, than perhaps at least for my iTunes trouble.
Thanks to all who might be able to help.

The reason I would think your iTunes stopped working is because your system is no longer compatible as iTunes requires Windows XP SP 2 in order to work properly.
If you want to back up your iTunes content then I would suggest opening My Documents>My Music and choose the whole iTunes folder and move it to an external drive. That is normally where all your content is saved, unless you didn't have 'Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library' selected in iTunes then you might want to use the whole My Music folder as your backup.

  • Satellite M50-106: Can't install Windows XP service packs

    Hi
I have a Satellite M50-106. I have a WinXP CD without SP1 or SP2 that I would like to install (don't ask me why:) Anyway, I can't get past the "setup is starting windows" screen, computer just freezes. Must be some driver issue. Does anybody know which driver is needen?
    Peter

    Hi
Its very strange and its not easy to give you a precise answer.
I recommend formatting the whole HDD.
If you install the Windows from the original Microsoft CD you should finished the OS installation. Then you should install firstly the SP1. Start the OS. Check if the SP1 was installed (you can see it in the system properties) If the SP1 was installed properly you have to install SP2.
After this procedure you can try to install the Toshiba stuff.
    Good luck

    Hi vijeth,
thanks for posting and welcome to the community,
Based from your post here this does seem to be a driver issues impacting your Broadcom wireless card that has been fitted into your machine. This Error code is actually wide spread across different Manufacturers that has the Broadcom wireless installed. At this point it is uncertain what the exact solution is. Some have rectified the issue by doing a windows update and it had installed the broadcom drivers and that had solved the issue.
Currently there are some solutions that has help some of the users. Especially from the thread below.

You may want to check this out. Some of the user are experiencing this Win 7 or Win8. But it worth checking what they did as it might help you out as well.

HP UFT 12.02 is not installing on Windows 7 Service Pack 1. But the Install Guide says it supports and recommends Windows 7 Service Pack 1 as the Operating System.

    Hey Hello Dear,
Please upgrade UR windows 7 Service pack to Service pack 2.

And before installing SQL server 2012 Plz activate .NET framework for that,
Put UR windows 7 Format CD then,
Run Command prompt as Administrator and paste following cmd in that
    DISM.exe /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFX3 /All /Source:c:\net35 /LimitAccess
it will take 2 min. after that restart your PC and try to install SQL server 2012.
Note: Before installing SQL SERVER again format UR PC/lapy once.
After this if it gives error while installation then plz change ur setup and try again.

  • Rescue And Recovery On Clean Install Of Windows XP Service Pack 2

    Hey,
I have recently purchased a refurbised IBM ThinkPad T40 2373-82M laptop computer. When I received the computer it did not have any recovery partition or recovery CD's that came with it. I then installed my own personal copy of Windows XP Service Pack 2 on the machine and installed drivers and applications individually by downloading them off the Lenovo support website. However, I have attempted to install the latest version of the ThinkVantage Rescue And Recovery Program (Version 4.20) on my computer but I end up with the following error: 'There is not enough free space on the computer to install or upgrade the Rescue and Recovery environment'. When I did a full clean install on the system I deleted all partitions that were on the computer at the time during the Windows XP installation and made a single NTFS partition. There were two 20GB partitions on the hard drive when I bought it, but neither of them were the IBM Rescue and Recovery partition. Could it be possible for me to install this software on my laptop, and make a Rescue and Recovery partition, now and make it the same way it would of been when it left the IBM factory?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers
    Ash.

How can I install my Adobe Photoshop on my computer with Windows XP Service Pack 3?  Seriously frustrated.  I put the disc in the drive and nothing happens.  I open up add/remove programs and I get an error message stating it can't find a disc.  I chatted with Adobe support, and they decided to send me here. Probably because they knew I wanted to spend all day online trying to figure this out.

I have found a fix after doing additional research through this forum. Tech Note #328730 addresses this problem and it works for Photoshop Album 3.2 even though it was written for release 1.0.
Here is a link that will take you directly to the Tech Note:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=328730
When using this fix the Tech Note indicates:
"Imported image data and tags are lost when you re-create the My Catalog.psa file, so you need to reimport images and reapply any tags"
however it did retain the captions (at least it did for me).

  • Can't update windows 7 service pack 1, can I use windows 8 for AirPort Extreme on my laptop?

I need help! I'm trying to set up AE with 3 laptops, a desk top, an ipad and two iPhones! Got the software downloaded onto all but one laptop. My laptop won't configure windows 7 service pack 1 so the AE software won't install. I've tried all Microsoft fixes and still nothing. Any ideas? Can I upgrade to windows 8 and proceed or can you tell me how to get this computer to configure properly?!

    Hey Me little
You can set it up using the AirPort Utility app for iOS. It has the ability to set up the AirPort Extreme for you.
