Instrument I/O Assistant not installed correctly

I've been troubleshooting this problem for over 2 weeks now and every response to this question that has found success I have tried, but was unable to fix the problem.
in labView, double selecting the I/O Assistant it reads the infamous text
"I I/O Assistant Not installed correctly or..."
I have downloaded the latest NI-VISA 5.1.3 (or the latest), NI-488.2.  In order to install the NI-VISA I needed to find a .net 4.0 framework & Visual Studios 2003 or better.  After this failed, I downloaded the DCD_AUG12_1 & 2_Downloaders.  After that did not work it left me considering if my machine or equipment is the problem, or if the software is just unable to support these features.
My System Information includes
Windows XP 32 bit
Drivers Include:
8757d
Agilent 34401
HP8753x
Connection Attempting:
GPIB Ethernet
When launching labView I receive an error
"The web server cannot start.  Is the webserver port already in use...
...labView Network Address is in use"
When trying to communicate with the machine connected to my computer, I can write to it, however I cannot read from or query information from it.  NI says its connected just fine.
Lastly my NI is 2005 and Labview is 8.0
I am pretty novice in this equipment and technology.  So if there is any specific details that I need to add, please let me know and I will update the post to include such details.

RxTx,
It looks like you might actually have too new of a version of VISA. Please see the following KnowlegdeBase article for more information about which version you require:
http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/E7C93038169B6E7686257847004B8B9C
It looks like VISA 4.3 is the newest version you can have for your version of LabVIEW.
Let me know if that fixes the issue!
Thanks,

  • Again : I/O Assistant not installed correctly.

    I Run LV 8.6 and MAX 4.5 ( XP, SP3 , AMD64x2-6 GHz , 4 GB RAM, 3 TB HDD ).
    LV works perfectly.
However, I stumble upon the very same problem of the past when trying to run the I-O Assistant express.vi ( " MAX or Instrument I/O Assistant not installed correctly. Install from LV Driver CD "),
I installed the LV Driver CD ( the March 2008 1-2-3  version, this should work, it did in the past ).
But at present no I/O Assistant shows up.
Then I downloaded separately and installed the I/O-Assistant driver, but no success again.
I recall from the past I encountered this very same problem, which was resolved in one way or another but I failed to document how.
    Help is appreciated.

    Martijn,
Do you have the VISA functions in your functions palette?
    Yes.
Or are there none instrument IO functions available?
    They are
Next we can check if the InstrIOAsst folder available in the vi.lib folder (national instruments\labview xx\vi.lib)
Yes,  it says " InstrIOAsst " indeed, but this is not the " Instr Assist " express.vi from the Express>Input panel
or is the instr folder available?
Yes, i.e. " IO Assist " but when executing " I-O Assistant " it shows a peculiar " Instrument I/O Assistant Task " and not the wanted simple express " Instr Assist ".express vi
If they are we can try to fix the driver through the windows control panel. If they are not; please run the installer again and double check if the Labview 8.5 API has been selected; you may also consider to use a newer driver; NI VISA 4.6 .
I was puzzled and still am a bit, but WOW, as per your advice I deinstalled the NI-VISA 4.3 and downloaded and installed the 4.6 one and guess what ? It works.
I wonder why the 4.3 obviously failed since it did do the job in the past.
I wouldn't have raised myself the idea to reinstall the NI-VISA driver, so thanks.
    Kudos !
    Peter.

  • Measurement and Automation explorer or the Instrument I/O Assistant is not installed correctly.

I am having difficulties getting Labview to work with my NI card.  I have a PCI_6225 card running on a Win 7 64-bit install.  I had to download all of the drivers and installers from the NI site and during the Labview install, I recieve a prompt asking for my hardware drivers.  Since I only have the compressed hardware installer, Labview doesn't like what it sees and continues the installation of LABVIEW.  I then attempt to open an analog input channel through the Instrument I/O Assistant which displays the error seen in the image attached.
I know the hardware works because in the Measurement and Automation client, I am able to observe the analog input I hope to collect in LABVIEW.
Is there a fix to get LABVIEW working?  I have tried multple installs of LABVIEW and am on a administered computer through my University's IT people.  I have 'full admin' rights.  Thanks.

    Hello jbaxter,
When you download the Drivers from NI's website, make sure you unzip them (extract them) to a folder on your computer before you install them. If you use the NI Downloader it should prompt you to unzip and run the files after the download is complete. You need to either repair, or reinstall DAQmx and NI VISA. Make sure you download the latest versions of these first:
     http://search.ni.com/nisearch/app/main/p/bot/no/ap/global/lang/en/pg/1/sn/catnav:du,ssnav:sup/1//en/...
Then go to Control Panel»Programs and Features»National Instruments Software and click Uninstall/Change then go to DAQmx and NI-VISA and click Repair. You can then point to folder that you downloaded from NI's website (make sure this is not a zip folder, but the folder that has been extracted). Or you could choose Remove, and then reinstall them both again. Also if you are using GPIB, reinstall or repair the NI-488.2 driver.

  • LabVIEW 8.5 - error: M&A Explorer or Instrument I/O Assistant is not installed correctly: what to do?

    Dear NI creators and users,
I freshly installed the LabVIEW 8.5 and the default set of device drivers (on a new Windows XP machine), all of which I downloaded as disk images from our university central repository (we have a site-wide license). The first thing I tried to place in my first VI was the "Instrument I/O Assistant" and I got this message: "Measurement and Automation Explorer or Instrument I/O Assistant is not installed correctly. Please install these from the LabVIEW Driver CD." I tried to repair the installation, but no change. The M&A Explorer comes up fine, when I select it from the Tools menu, so I doubt, that the problem is there. Needless to say, the "Instrument I/O Assistant" throws the same error when double-clicked in the template file.
Does anybody have a similar or the same experience? What can I do to solve this problem? Perhaps I should add that the computer with LabVIEW is intentionally not connencted to the internet, so in case the solution involves an update, I would very much appreciate some guidance to an off-line update
Many thanks to all for any helpful remarks.
    Daniel

Maybe you didn't install the NI-VISA or NI-488.2 driver.

If that wouldn't work for you, download the latest driver-CD from our website and install it. ( It may take a while.  )

I'd recommend to use an USB-harddisk for transferring the files.

  • Measurement and Automation Explorer not installed correctly

I have a trial version of LabView 8.5.  Upon trying to change the Instrument I/O Assistant, I get "Measurement and Automation Explorer not installed correctly.  Please install from driver CD."  Well, I don't have the CD since this was a trial download.
Basically, what I am trying to do is this:  I want to pull 4 variables/tags from an Allen Bradley PLC and log them to an Excel spreadsheet.  I am using RSLinx to communicate with the PLC, and LabView to compile the info.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Any Ideas?  I have the program running right now, and I'm kinda in a bind.  I also tried RSView32 Works to log the info, but there isn't enough flexibility in logging.  I need to log flow rate test results from a large automated machine.  The mahcine does a number of operations, but we are most concerned with these four tags (since it conducts four tests at once).  The problem is, the cycle time varies with the lot of product.  Some products require more time as the process is more delicate.  So, I can't use a time-interval logging method.
As for variable change, I can't do that either because it records the 4 test results in series; not all at the same time.  That, and if the test is aborted (no tube), the previous test result value stays in the tag until there is a successful test.
I found a variable that changes once per cycle.  I'd like to log the four tags once per cycle.
BUT I can't do anything until I get the I/O Wizard working.

  • Has anyone ever received the error Itunes was not installed correctly.  Please reinstall Itunes Error 7 Windows error 126

I had to reinstall my Itunes account and after installing received this error: This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found.  Reinstalling the application may fix the problem.
The other error message that displayed after I tried to reinstall it was "Itunes was not installed correctly.  Please reinstall Itunes Error 7 (Windows error 126).
Any assistance with correcting this matter is greatly appreciated.  My ipod is fine, I just need to reinstall Itunes on my computer.

  • HP Envy 14 1260se graphics driver not installing correctly

Recently my computer crashed and I had to reformat my hard drive. I was able to install Windows 7 with the SP1 and I have most of the drivers installed from HPs website. However, I'm having trouble installing my gaphics card (ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650).
I go to Device Manager and it marks an error for the "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" the device status is "This device cannot start. (Code 10). I've downloaded the driver from HPs website and I can begin the installing process. However, halfway through I get a BlueScreen, LocaleID: 1033, BCCode: 116.
I've tried almost everything I can think of. I've uninstalled the driver and installed it again. I've downloaded the driver from AMDs website and tried installing it that way and all methods have failed. Always during the installation process I get the BlueScreen and must restore my computer to before I tried installing the driver.
I don't know if this would be the reason, but in my Device Manager and under Display adapters I have "Intel(R) HD Graphics" and the "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" (which should be the Radeon 5650).  So maybe I can't install my Radeon driver because it conflicts with my Intel card. I really don't know. (Before the clean install, my computer could switch between the cards. I don't think I have that ability in my computer right now.)
My computer is fully functional except that I can't use my graphics card. I appreaciate any help or advice out there.

    Hello @notarealninja,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I understand that your notebook computer is not able to install the graphics drivers correctly, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
In order to further diagnose the error message displayed on your computer screen, I recommend following this document on Blue Screen BCCode 116. This should help install any necessary software to prevent the occurrence of another Blue Screen message.
Additionally, if the drivers still do not install correctly, I also suggest installing the original software and hardware drivers that came with your computer. This can be done by following this document on Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 7). To update these drivers, please follow this document on Using HP Support Assistant (Windows 7).
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, and I look forward to your reply!

  • Resinstalling Itunes does not fix the error? It won't let me play my audible books because 'itunes was not installed correctly', so I reinstalled it and it still won't work. I'm lost, any suggestions?

I recently moved my itunes to a new computer. The audible stuff doesn't automatically come up because its not purchased from the itunes store. So I opened the files with itunes on my new computer. It said that I had to authorise my audible account on this computer which I did, but then itunes came up with the following:
'Could not authorise this computer because iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes.'
So I uninstalled then reinstalled iTunes and it still didn't work, I then did it again and it STILL DIDN'T WORK.
I have absolutely no idea what to do now, so if anyone has any advice it would greatly appreciated.

When uninstalling iTunes on your windows computer, there is a specific way it must be done in order to completely uninstall all components of the software.  Ensure you follow the article for your correct OS.

Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates

  • Vista itunes not installed correctly.  Error 7.  Windows error 998.  Itunes helper not installed correctly.  Service Apple Mobile Device failed to start.  Insufficient privileges.

OK, spent about 25 frustrating hours so far this weekend doing everything recommended on numerous threads here -- uninstalling and reinstalling itunes and all Apple items.  Help?
I am using Windows Vista home premium.  After the last iTunes update to 12, it suddenly would not work.  I followed, to a T, all instructions to uninstall all Apples software, in the correct order, reboot, download the latest iTunes, run as administrator, plug in the iPhone 5S, let the driver install, and then finish.
Along the way, I received the error that "Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."  I am the administrator and have privileges.  (I previously followed instructions from anther thread to change the read-only privileges for Apple folders, but to no avail.  I also deleted every file with the word Apple in it after I uninstalled everything.)  I did a retry and then an ignore during installation of the AMD error, which I have received 10 times.
The other error I keep getting is:  "iTunesHelper was not installed correctly.  Please reinstall iTunes.  Error 7."  I have done that 20 times.
Other frequent error:  "iTunes was not installed correctly.  Please reinstall iTunes.  Error 7 (Windows error 998)."
I followed other threads suggestions to install Windows .NET versions 3.5 and 4.0.  No help.  I also looked for various specific Apple files in various folders for DLLs, etc.  Not present.  I have rebooted 50 times and tried different users on my home account as well.  Nothing.
I also followed instructions to Manage my computer under "services."  Under Apple Mobile Device, the setting is for "automatic."  When I try to get it to "start," the error I receive is "Windows could not start the Apple Mobile Device on Local Computer.  Error 1053:  The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."  (I followed previous thread instructions to use the CMD prompt to stop it.  That caused problems because the status was then "stopped," but I was able to restart it later once I figured that out -- but with the 1053 error again.)
I think I've tried every suggestion in every thread for the four errors I keep getting (AMD failed to start; iTunesHelper Error 7; Windows error 998; and AMD Error 1053.)  I am fresh out of ideas and very frustrated.  I mostly want to make sure I don't lose my music and photos, which I was about to sync.
The only other thing I see that is strange on my computer (which I discovered along the way) is that I cannot receive automatic windows updates and have not had an update since 2012.  My iTunes worked a month ago, so that was obviously not a show-stopper in the past, but perhaps there is a Vista update I need for iTunes 12?  I have service pack 2 for Vista.  I have followed all threads to try to set my windows to automatic update, but no joy there either.  It checks for updates and then fails.  I followed instructions and did run an installation to install windows automatic updates, but that doesn't work either.  I tried 10 times.  It runs and takes a while, but is never able to successfully update windows.  It says "checking for updates" for a while.  Then it dies.  My last update was 6/19/12 (failed) and it says the most recent check was 6/22/12, but I have tried 20 times on 10/31/14 and 11/1/14.
When asked to "Install new Windows Update software" to check for updates, I have done so 10 times.  It downloads and installs, but never works.
It's an old Dell desktop computer from 2006, and I'm using an iPhone 5S.  I am fresh out of ideas.  Anyone really smart here?
    Thanks.
    Tristan

Upon latest reboot, I also received this error message:  "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005).  Click OK to terminate the application."
Then I got the iTunesHelper not installed correctly error again.
Then the "Windows can't check for updates" error message.
Then "Apple Push has stopped working."  Then a quick DEP error message that disappeared but said something about Apple Push being closed.
I'm also getting denials of service logged by McAffee.  Not sure if I'm getting a virus/attack or not.
Not sure if it's a problem with my old desktop machine, my Windows Vista updates, or iTunes, but I'm very frustrated and out of ideas to try.
    Thank you for your help!
    Tristan

  • Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services. and 'iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 193)

    Hi!
So i think i closed the wrong service at some point a few weeks back (apple mobile device) but iTunes remained working after that for another week. I then updated iTunes and i get the same  "Service ‘Apple Mobile Device’ (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services." every time. If i click ignore, just so i can access iTunes with out syncing my iPod (touch 2nd gen) i then get 'iTunes was not installed correctly. Please re-install iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 193)" when it has all installed. I don't understand what the problem is anymore as I have looked at other questions on the apple website, carried out the advice and it hasn't work. Any of them.
    Tings I have done:
    - Wiped all iTunes and Apple data from my computer (if you search for 'iTunes' or 'Apple' nothing comes up apart from applets from system code.
    - Attached iPod before iTunes install and updated drivers.
    - Installed iTunes as 'Run as administrator'
    - Uninstalled and re-installed the software nearly 20 times now and rebooted the computer in between everytime.
Please someone help because i really need to get music on my ipod and i enjoy the ease of use of iTunes compared to spotify or Windows Media Player.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.
Regarding AMDS failures there is a hint in another thread that disabling the Windows Firewall before attempting to reinstall may help, otherwise take a look at the steps outlined in this post. Re: Can't install iTunes 12.1 on Windows 7 64-bit. I know they look a little daunting, but the process of generating the logs themselves isn't that hard to do. Extracting useful information from them is still a challenge but maybe something will leap out. If you want to post the log for the failed components for me to have a look at here or in the other thread please edit out any personal information, particularly your email address, first.
