Integrating SAP BPM and existing workflows, does an interface exist?

Hallo all
I have to evaluate how to build a set of BPM Workflows which shold incorporate "exits" into existing workflows (basically combining BPM and Business Workflows).  Do you know if there is a referenc on how such a thing could be acomplished or have some advices for a smart way of organising the interface between the two workflow engines?
Regards,
Minima

Hi Minima,
You may want to post this in the [BPM|SAP Business Process Management; forum.

  • Help deciding between BPM and Business Workflow

    Hi All,
We are in the phase of deciding which tool to use for SAP Application systems from Workflow and Business Rules Engine Point of view.
We recommended SAP Business Workflow + BRF+ for that.
But SAP Business Workflow is not having monitoring UI as good as SAP BPM.
So we are planning to propose the solution using SAP BPM instead of SAP Workflow.
Our main requirement is HR Org structure data fetching and it is achievable with SAP BPM what I have studied so far.
My question to the experts is whether SAP BPM can be integrated with SAP BRF+?
    Thanks in advance

The biggest difference (besides the underlying technology stack) is that by modeling processes in BPMN, business users gain transparency and become more involved in BPM projects, leading to better results.
btw, SAP BPM is in the market for 5 years now and has more than one thousand productive customers.

  • Contact Sheets and Real Workflows--Does Apeture work for you?

As a sports photographer I need to produce contact sheets quickly after culling my images. The contact sheets need to show: image id or file name, the event, the date, my copyright, and some other minor info such as number of photos. The contact sheet must contain images which are of variable size (i.e., the number of rows and columns must be able to be varied so that the images will be larger or smaller depending on my and the client's needs). In addition, the manipulation of images, esp. rotation, must be convienient (i.e., can be done in groups of images or as "SELECT ALL").
Right now I do not see any way to do this in Apeture. If not, I will never buy it as it does not meet my basic workflow needs. The sharpening, color correction, etc. manipulations only are needed after the client sees the work. Not all...not any have or are likely to have Apeture, so use of a printed contact sheet is an absolute. APPLE wake up and serve your customers.
Anyone out there have the same needs and view? What does Apeture need to make it work for people whose shoots produce 500 images which are culled down to 150 for client viewing?

You do not have to upgrade to Pages 5.5.2 and you still should have Pages '09 on your Mac unless you deliberately removed it.
You do not have to return your Mac "to factory" over a software update. If you just let us know specifically what your problems are maybe we can fix them.
You can find Pages '09 in your Applications/iWork folder. Continue using it.
Make sure you Rate/Review Pages 5.5.2 in the App Store.

  • Integrating Oracle BPM and outlook

    Hi,
We are using Oracle BPM 6.0.4.
We like to integrate Outlook to receive the integrative activity instances. In other words we are planning to make Outlook behave as work space.
Any idea/ document / sample on this will be more helpful.
    Thank you in advance.

In the data control palette under the collection that represents the child you should see a node of operations - in there you should see next/previous - drag those onto the page to get the scrolling through the records going on.

  • BPM and UCM Integration

I want to save some flexField value of a BPM human task into a custom field created in UCM doc store, for that i am following the following steps
    1) Created a custom field in UCM document store
    2) Created a flex field in BPM work Space
    3) Added pay load in human task from the "*data*" tab of human task flow
    4) Mapped Pay load with the flex field of BPM Work Space
    5) Now when I want to map the pay load attribute by adding a custom attribute in the "documents" tab of the human task, IDE is not allowing to add any custom fields except the pre populated values.
In this situation if I want one of my human task payload attribute to be saved in the custom field created in the document store how to do it. According to the Oracles guide we can add a new attribute through the "**document**" tab of the human task flow but it is not happening.

OK, so you are using the attachment option from BPM.
I gave you few hints in my previous post, but I will explain them in more details:
    a) BPM has its own metadata
Forget for your document for a moment - the BPM process instance still can have its own metadata. These are used when you create BPM screen flows.
I think you will need to create a BPM parameter to store your custom value first. (and this is really purely a BPM question)
    b) A document can be attached to a BPM process instance
In a sense, such a document is nothing, but an additional information for the BPM process instance. This has nothing to do with document-oriented workflow (quite often, the attached document enters no workflow at all); it is the BPM process instance that routes across the organization, not the document.
    c) BPM metadata <--> UCM metadata
AFAIK, there is no integration between BPM and UCM concerning metadata. You may check-in (attach) a new document using UCM profiles, but for your process this value is not visible - unless you call a service to retrieve it/update it. If you implemented a) (created your custom value in BPM), you may call UCM's services to update this value - at the minimum when you are leaving from the BPM workflow step.

  • Regarding BPM and UCM integration

we are unable to add a custom attribute in documents tab in Human Task Flow, where we want to pass a custom value to be stored in UCM for retrieval of the document
How can we add a custom attribute in HumanTaskFlow, which has to be stored in UCM doc store.
but i am successfully uploadingdocument into UCM with out metadata attributes

  • ARIS - SAP BPM Integration

    Hi Experts,
I am new to SAP BPM and ARIS, and was wondering if anyone can help answer this.
If processes are designed using ARIS, how would you import them in NWDS (BPM Process)?  Is this the right way to do it? What is the best practice regarding this?
I know there is integration between ARIS and SolMan, but this is with SAP BPM.  Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Rahim.

From the wiki posted by Ann Rosenberg
    Link: [http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/ModHandbook/ProcessModelingNotations]
It seems there is no way to import BPMN diagram from ARIS to NW BPM.  One will have to redraw the models.

  • BPM ws ECC workflow

    HI All,
I ahve to develop a scenario for Customer Creation where  a form needs to route multiple people for various approvals. can I develop these workflows with BPM or I ahve to sue ECC workflows?
I am confused here, what is BPM and ECC workflow? can I use BPM instead of ECC workflow?
If I use BPM, does it self has workflows or still we need to build these ECC and map it to BPM?
I am really confused , please help me to understand bit more on this.
    Thanks
    Krish

    Hi Krishna,
The approach would be based on where you are mastering the Data for Customer Master:
    - Is it MDM for global data & Local data?
    - MDM maintaining only global data?
You may also choose to use the MDM workflows for the approval process based on the requirements, but there are certain limitations.
If you use BPM Workflows then you can span it over multiple SAP and Non SAP systems and it provides several enhancements as compared to other workflows.
You may refer to the BPM Use Case Wiki for more details on scenarios.
    Hope this helps!!

  • BPM and Correlation

    Hello together,
we are using BPM for processing EDI order entries. We have one main process and depending of the destination system different Sub processes. Unfortunately we are running into performance problems with the BPM. From my point of view is one of the bottle necks the correlation, with that we return information from the sub process to the main process.
Has somebody experience with BPM and correlation or does somebody knows this problem and has a solution for it.
    Many thanks and best regards

    Hi ciochinah,
The value is same in all the batches.
But there is one aspect. Each batch has got many line items (no headers). I am assigning an element in the line items for correlation.
All the line items in all the batches has got the same value for the field element used in correlation.
I have one important question here. Where can we check for the active correlation at runtime? Is there a transaction which will tell you whether the correlations are active and which one was taken at runtime?
    Thanks,

  • SharePoint Retention Policy workflow does not start

    Hi,
Using Nintex workflows I have created a workflow and attached it to a content type and tested that it runs manually ok.  I want it to run according to a retention policy, and so I created a policy based on one of the content type's date fields to start
my workflow automatically.  When I manually run the timer jobs I see the following error in ULS logs and the workflow does not start.  Interestingly if I amend the policy to do something simple like move the item to the recycle bin, that works fine.
Can anyone suggest what is wrong and where I can go from here to find the issue?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Based on your description, my understanding is that the Retention Policy cannot start the Nintex workflow.
To narrow the issue scope, I recommend to check the things below:
Create a SharePoint 2010 Reusable workflow for the same content type or 2013 list workflow and modify the Retention Policy to start this workflow, and then check how it works.
Create Retention Policy with the Nintex workflow in another list and then compare the results.
    Thanks,
    Victoria

  • Rename "BPM and Workflow" forum to "SAP Business Workflow"

    G'Day,
99% of posts in the [BPM and Workflow|SAP Business Workflow; forum deal with SAP Business Workflow. It was originally intended for ccBPM which - though they share some underlying architecture - is basically XI / PI.
A few ccBPM posts occasionally appear in the WF forum, but they are generally not answered and more appropriate in XI. These days I usually move them to XI when it's clear that the 'local' population won't answer it.
So to avoid confusion for people I propose to rename the forum to SAP Business Workflow or at least something that doesn't confuse it with XI.
    Any input welcome.
    Cheers,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
Well, you probably already know what I think ;).
If there is little to no traffic for BPM, then let's call the forum what it is, SAP Business Workflow - Or Workflow and Guided Procedures?
Sidebar: I posted a question to various forums a few weeks ago, regarding 'How can SAP, and ASUG WF/BPM serve you better'.  I am summarizing the responses I got below, in hopes that it helps guide you in your quest.  The names have been excluded to protect the identities, but I think there is some very valuable info in here.  Particularly the final point - which I will follow up on with the respondent.
Anyway, you didn't ask for it, but here it is.
    > 1. Have you attended any webcasts related to SAP lately?
No. Not lately, and not ever. (I suppose I am old-fashioned...)
    > 2. Are there any topics related to Workflow and BPM that you think are
    > important for the 'community'?
Integrating workflows and guided procedures - e.g. enhancing existing workflows to use browser interfaces.
    > 3. Looking ahead a year, what do you see as challenges in this area?
Processes that can be executed either in R/3 or in browsers, with information about the process progress etc, as in Guided Procedures. This will probably be the developers nightmare for the next few years.
    1. Have you attended any webcasts related to SAP lately?
-yes I did - quite a few, but mostly on web related stuff and XI.
    2. Are there any topics related to Workflow and BPM that you think are important for the 'community'?
    - personally for me, I still find the guided procedure in Portals not so user friendly and limited. I think more education and influence around GP will be great. I think the community will also appreciate it.
    3. Looking ahead a year, what do you see as challenges in this area?
    - GP and UWL. I think the concept of "IT doing the first time and the business managing their rules" would be challenging. I have not yet seen this happen, especially on the logistics side. There is a session this year on the same topic at TechEd and I look forward to this session. Hopefully it will help us get some insight.
Right now I am struggling with even getting Workflow off the ground and getting the business to understand what Workflow is and trying to have them budget for it. Workflow is still new to the functional group and even getting them to consider Workflow verse alternatives is somewhat of a challenge. I really have had a great consultant that has taken me under his wing and taken the time to teach me. I think we would be a great story for a presentation.
My challenges for the next year, is how to get over the hump of selling workflow to the business and actually getting projects planned out. I don't know if anyone has an anwer to that one. My other challege is how to handle transfer of knowledge and maintaining workflow that has been built by consultants.
    1)  I have not attended many SAP webcasts (just one on Solution Manager in the past few months)  I'm planning on attending one this comming Monday on BPM.
    2) I think understanding UWL / SBWP differences, advantages, limitations on one vs the other, would be an important topic.   Also more information on Extended Notiications
    3) Challenges: Upgrades and impact on WF,  Unicode and WF and having more WF ABAP OO objects delivered by SAP, other than the "Absence Notification" sample.
    1.       I havenu2019t personally attended but as a company we give a webinar once a week and weu2019ve had some great attendance
    2.       Technically I think weu2019re OK. We see the need to tell C-level execs where workflow / BPM can help them in businessu2026.
_3.       Workflow is becoming more and more obscure in the SAP landscapeu2026

  • BPM and Workflow for SRM 7

    Hi
Does anyone know if BPM (Business Process Management) supports SRM and specifically SRM 7.0?
Is it possible to create the workflow in BPM and then transfer it to SRM 7? Will that work flow be a "developed" workflow from SRM point of view?
    Sincerely

    Hi,
In that case, I would use BPM for MDM and SRM workflow for SRM document approval.
