Interactive image without zoom

I'd like to make an interactive image where you can click the labels without the image zooming or moving. I tried to do so by using the same zoom percentage for each label, but the image is still moving when you click. Any suggestions?

Saw this too. Are you talking about movement when you first tap a label in the widget?  If so, the movement is probably occurring because of the difference between the zoom level/position associated with the Default view and the zoom levels/positions of the new views that you've added (especially if you edited the existing numbered views instead of replacing them).  I found a workaround which might help you. Here are some steps:
1.  Insert an Interactive widget and drop your image into it.
2.  Show the Interaction panel of the Widget inspector (note that there are 3 views:  Default plus two views).
3.  Delete all existing views (except Default) by clicking the '-' button under the Views list in the inspector.
4.  Now, set the desired view (position and zoom) for the Default view (this step is optional).
5.  Add more views by clicking the '+' button below the Views list.
Note:  Any new views you add (by clicking the '+' button in the inspector) will have the exact same view as the Default view.  As a result, when your widget is viewed you should not see any image movement as all views will have the same zoom and positioning as the Default view.
Hope this helps!

  • Looking for a software making interactive images

    Hello,
looking for a software similiar as the widget "interactive image". But clicking on a certain part of the source image another image will appear instead zooming in.
    Thanks

Don't know if this will help, but Apple's iAd producer is able to export to iBA HTML widget. Set up your original image on the first page, make your other images on other pages, and make 'clickable areas' on page 1 that point to the other pages.
The caveat is that iAd producer widgets are larger than a comparitive HTML made in Dreamweaver. If you know your HTML/CSS/Javascript, then that is the way to go.
Without this knowledge, your widgets are always limited to what your applications can do.

  • Blurry Photos in Photo gallery and Interactive image widget--(iBooks Author)

The pictures that I put in my photogallery and in my interactive image widget were at first clear and would get bigger when I tapped on them (in preview mode on my iPad), and then all of the sudden, they all are blurry, and now when I tap on them, they don't get bigger/zoom! How do I fix this??

The iBook is about 80 pages, and there is an average of one widget per page, sometimes 2. There are a few galleries in which there are more than one picture, but many of them are simply with one picture (because this is the only way to make it get bigger when you tap on it when on the iPad). For the Interactive Image widgets, I took a screenshot of a google maps route, and then focused on different stops to show directions on my iBook. I just redid all of the photo galleries that were blurry, and they are fixed now (no longer blurry). BUT the interactive images are still blurry....maybe I just need to go back and redo them?

  • Full Screen Interactive Images?

Apple's video demo of the interactive images widget  (as seen on this page: http://www.apple.com/ibooks-author/gallery.html ) shows the image opening full screen when clicked. I cannot make this happen. The 'full-screen' option is always disabled in the widget editor, and all interactivity occurs within the confines of the page. Any idea how to make iBooks Author deliver the result shown in this demo? Thanks.

When you place your 'Interactive Image' Widget onto your page...when you Preview/View on your iPad simple pinch to fully zoom the 'Interactive Image'.. TAP the X in the upper left to close full view mode.
I suppose you would think a double tap would bring you to full screen mode...but that could be a bad feature for interactivity where readers don't realize its interactive or a static type image.
    Hope that helps.

  • IBooks Author ( interactive image )

    Hi to everyone,
I have a problem with an interactive image in iBooks Author. i've added the image in .jpg format and all the interactive "buttons" with own interactivity zoom for each one. When I test it on the working area, it works correctly even it's quite slow, but once I preview it on mac book pro or ipad, it doesn't work as shown in the working area. when i click on bottom to see the details, it becomes white. Who can help me?
    Thanks
    Alberto

Have you solved your issue? If not, can you provide us with some screen shots of what it looks like in iBooks author and as preview in iBooks on your mac?

  • Interactive Image: Text Styles?

Is there a standard text style we can edit to modify what shows up in the text boxes when an interactive image zooms in?
According to the Style menu it's "Body Bullet" text, which just by looking at it you know that's not right. I don't see an "Interactive text" option anywhere in teh menus... assuming it all has to be done manually. BUT if there's a way someone has found to change the default text style within Interactive Images, then I'd only have to do it once and not dozens of times per book. Much like editing layout text (allegedly).
    Ideas?

Yah I'm a little surprised Apple has left out so many basic features and also integrated some bizarro-world behaviors not consistent with any other Mac app I've ever used (see also Zoom shortcuts). Cmd +, Cmd-, Cmd-0 anyone? This stuff is not that complicated.
Hopefully we'll get a hefty "polish update" this summer.

  • Changing color of Interactive Image label?

i'm pretty clear on how to alter the title, caption, border of an Interactive Image, but i'm wondering if there is a way to change the color, orientation and appearance (other than font) for the associated labels? any help would be great. thanks!

fabe: i totally get that -- and you're right -- a good designer would understand that the labels shouldn't upstage the graphic to which they refer. to that end, i think that effect would be enhanced if you looked at the default screen and simply saw (unboxed) labels, and then when you clicked opn the text, you'd zoom in and the text might even get a little transparent so the graphic is even more accentuated. i also think it would be cool if you could control the default view of the label (change it's colors, characteristics, transparency, etc) and then when setting its zoomed-in view, you'd also be able to change the label's colors, characteristics, transparency, etc, as well. honestly, i'm sort of relieved to know this isn't possible in ibooks author 1.0 (maybe in 2.0?) because i looked and looked AND looked. btw, the app is INCREBIBLY intuitive -- pretty **** remarkable, in fact. you have done an amazing job, so thanks so much! bob (ps: so glad i waited for a great wysiwyg ibook tool -- and that apple released it. i plan in converting a number of my out-of-print books -- and will be using ibooks author!) http://www.bobstaake.com/page5.shtml)

  • Interactive Images - Way to Block Full-Screen?

The way I see it, Interactive Images are useful because they dont' require a large area of the screen to zoom in and see crisp graphics and descriptions. So when I set my images up, set the views for the "embedded sized" viewer, it all works great. But as soon as I attempted the "reverse pinch" to expand the widget on the iPad, the quality of the image goes way down. Is there a way to either: specificy different view settings per item in both embedded and expanded view, OR a way to shut off the full-screen version of the Interactive Image widget?

Hmmm... IBA will scale down images if they exceed the resolution of the device, but will otherwise not compress them, as far as I know. I don't have a good suggestion for you, other than to somehow get higher resolution. One option might be to, instead of using an interactive image widget, to use a gallery. When taking your screenshots, size up the window as large as possible, take the screen shot, and crop to 1024 x 768 (or something near that size). Then show the full screenshot in one image in the gallery, and the close-up in another.
    Michi.

  • Interactive Image

    Hi,
In Apple's iBooks Author there is a widget that is called Interactive Image. Anyone knows how can I build the same functionality in InDesign or if there is such a widget for InDesign that I can get from somewhere?
    thanks

    revelic wrote:
Any tips about pit holes related to this tools I should be aware about?
Multi-state objects in InDesign work as widely documented, and can be very powerful with the right approach. However it bears mentioning that the InDesign feature works more at an un-automated, base-function level than the  iBooks Author widget, or similar mechanisms typically found in more consumer-targeted products by Apple and Microsoft. Many users transitioning to InDesign from such packages often express disappointment in the relative absence of automated and prefabricated feature-utilities. Typical design professionals using InDesign wouldn't want the software "guessing" at what is desired, or presenting theme-prepackaged graphic sets for all-in-one injection. With InDesign, you'll have to manually build all of your graphical enhancements, and make all your choices without "design aids."

  • Question on Photoshop Image Size Zoom & Crop

    Hello Everyone...
I was wondering if anyone could help me out on a few questions w/ Image Size Zoom & Crop
I use to work at a studio that had their own small software for editing photos. It was setup so you take an image RAW and you could CROP by zooming. So I could take the image and SCROLL to ZOOM in and it cropped away the rest without actually pressing crop. Then you pick what sizes you want, 1 8x10, 2 5x7 and sheet of wallets and WALLLLLLA it prints them out on 3 sheets of paper.
    My questions are:
Is there anyway to crop by zooming?
Is there anyway to keep the original size after cropping?  Example most of my pics are 12M when I crop they go down to 2 or 3. Why? If I have a picture of 4 people and I want to crop to one persons face but keep the original image size why won't it do that without resizing??
It says that to get the best print quality it should be viewed at resolution 300 instead of 72? is that true? and why?
Is there a way to keep the quality at its best and then just select how many and what size I want to have print out? example of the 3 sizes listed above??
I hope my questions make a little sense.
Thanks for your help in advance

I also suggest that you mention what version of Photoshop you have when posting.  Some functions change between versions.

  • Dropping images into interactive images widget crops upper third?

Whenever I create a new widget "interactive image" and drop a JPEG file into the widget only the lower two thirds of the image are shown.
I try to set the standard view to the whole image but I can't drag the picture down to see the whole image area.
I would like to set a hot spot in the upper area but I can't because I can't move the image inside the widget frame towards this position.
Zooming in and out to set the views is no problem. Moving the picture around the lower areas also. It seems as if the widget crops the upper third of my image... Is anyone else having this problem? Or better: what did I do wrong and how can I solve this problem?

This may help you. Make sure you click on the graphic and not the Interactive window.
Notice the handles on the graphic. A View box with a slider appears.
Move the slider to change the size of the graphic within the frame.  Does this solve your issue?

  • Straightening an image whilst zoomed

As far as I know, (and please correct me if I am wrong) the only time you can straighten an image in LR is when the crop tool is engaged fully zoomed out. only
Sometimes the only part of an image which will give you an accurate horizon is quite small and it would be helpful if you could zoom in to the image, select crop from there and straighten the image (without cropping, of course)o
If anyone has a better solution please let me know otherwise could Adobe look at this for a future release please?

Under lens corrections Lightroom 5.7 (and 5.6) has a new feature to correct distortions such tilted horizons, it works quite well. If that is not good enough you can use the Manual tab also under Lens Corrections. Please see Lightroom Help | Upright automatic perspective correction | Lightroom 5, there is a good video tutorial by Julieanne Kost.

  • How to load an image without a gui? big problems...

Hey guys, I usually try my best to not ask for help and figure stuff out myself. But this last week i've been having big problems with this work project.
My goal is to load images from disk, and append them to each other to create one big image.
The images are 0-9.jpg each file containing a number in it. then i create one big file with 4 numbers in it. called final.jpg.
so far i can do all this, but whenever the program is finished, the application just keeps running. the program has literally gone through all the steps... i have a system.out.println printed on the last line after the main, after the class instantiation... and still it stays running.
how do you guys load images without a gui? This program will probably be running under unix, so i can't create a (for component example)
Panel() and media track the file load... so i'm pretty much stumped
any help you guys can provide would be really incredibly helpfull at this point. I have searched these threads for a few hours without luck. I found only 1 real post related to my problem, but eventually they said use MediaTracker = new Mediatracker( new Panel() ); which i can't use. :(
    Thanks a lot guys.
    :D

yeah tried doing that, didn't work either.
    UPDATE
    I FINALLY found a way...
and here it is for others to find!
    public BufferedImage getImage(String filename) throws Exception {
    FileInputStream input = new FileInputStream( filename );
    JPEGImageDecoder decoder = JPEGCodec.createJPEGDecoder( input );
    BufferedImage image = decoder.decodeAsBufferedImage();
    return image;
it returns an image buffer, but it's better than nothing! :)
    atleast this functions under unix.

  • How can I attach an image without the image is in the email body? (using the new mail the Lion)

How can I attach an image without the image is in the email body? (using the new mail the Lion)
I want in attachment, not in the body mail.

I think your only solution is to zip the image files first and then attach them.
Read this from a site I found:
Sending Graphical Attachments -- When you attach a graphical image to your message, the recipient of your message sees the image inline (that is, in the body of the message) if her email client supports inline display. ("Take Control of Email with Apple Mail" contains a table listing the capabilities of popular Mac and PC email clients.) If a client does not support inline display (or the recipient has turned off the inline display option), the file appears as an attachment that must be opened in a separate program.
On the one hand, an inline image is easier for the recipient to see - all she has to do is look at it. On the other hand, inline images can be frustrating to scroll through. If you do not wish to send a graphical image inline, you must compress the file before attaching it - Mail, sadly, lacks a built-in compression option, though fortunately for Panther users, the Finder offers Zip compression without requiring a separate application.
Note that when you compose a new message, Mail always shows attachments in the body of your message. You can manually drag them somewhere else, but many email clients display all attachments in a separate list, regardless of where you place them in the message body.
If you paste an image into a message or drag & drop an image from another window (say, a Web browser), Mail converts the raw image data to an attachment in TIFF format. On the other hand, if you drag & drop the icon of an image file (or use the Attach button to locate the file using the file browser), Mail leaves the attached image in its original format. This difference is significant, because although most email clients can display JPEG images just fine, support for TIFF - especially in non-Mac email clients - is less common. If possible, I suggest attaching image files as opposed to pasting or dragging in raw image data.
