Interconnection Imac-G4-800Mhz-OS 10.4.11, and IPODCLASSIC.
I want to offer a IPOD Classic to my daughter who has a IMAC - G4 - 800 MHz (version swell - 17 inches).
This Mac currently turns with OS 10.4.11 and will remain on this level with version 9 of ITUNES.
At that time, it is sure that the USB exits are USB1.
I am not informed if its MAC has an USB2 exit.
He is written on the site of Apple Store that the configuration necessary for the use of IPOD CLASSIC requires a connection in USB2.
What do you think about it?
What is what you recommend to me to do if its computer does not have USB2 exits but what of the exits USB 1?
Can one in this configuration USB 1, to use the communion of ITUNES 9 of the IMAC - G4-800 MHz (OS 10.4.11), left USB 1 and IPODCLASSIC?

What about installing GoodReader on your iPad? That will transfer files from my TiBook G4 using afp or FTP. A lot cheaper than upgrading the whole operating system if you haven't any other need to. I am still using 10.3.9 so I don't think you need to be blonde for it to work.

Hello all,
I have a 15" iMac 800Mhz G4 system with 512ram that will not boot up unless I take out the memory and reinsert it every time before a start up. I get a blank grey screen unless I pull the memory stick out and put it back in. Any ideas ? I tried a different stick of memory but had the same problem ? confused.
When the system is running it runs like a champ! I cant afford a new mac at this time or a heavy repair fee

My 15" iMac G4 800mhz will not recognize my iPhone 4s at all. It charges but doesn't load as external memory or in itunes.
I am running OS X 10.4.11 and using iTunes 9.2.1.
I have tried to be as specific as possible, I hope somebody can help as this is the main thing I will be using my mac for.
Thanks in advance.....and an 800mHz Mac cannot officially run 10.5.8. There may be some third-party hacks to allow tricking the installer into thinking the computer qualifies and permit the install to continue, but 10.5 will be very sluggish on that machine even if you have a lot of RAM.
The other problem is valid 10.5 retail install disks. They are getting hard to find, only on DVD (not all early iMacs have DVD-capable drives), and often sell today for more than their original price of US$129. -
Installed GoFlex 1.5 TB external drive on my iMac running OS X 10.7.4 and error says Time Machine can't create a backup folder. Any solutions?
Well, to unmount the drive, you can use the Terminal application.
Start in Applications > Utilities > Terminal.
When the Terminal window opens, type - without the quotes and with the space at the end - this:
"diskutil unmount "
Then drag the icon of the unmounted drive from the desktop into the Terminal window - the drive location will be added to the end of the command above. It should look something like this:
diskutil unmount /Volumes/volumename
Then press enter (return).
That should unmount the drive. Now you can try the Time Machine process again with perhaps a different interconnect cable for the GoFlex. -

Launch iTunes on your Mac, plug your phone in, select it in the sidebar, select what you want to sync under the various tabs, hit the sync button. If the sidebar is not visible, go up to the "View" menu & select "Show Sidebar".

Microsoft Office 2004 (Word) unable to save files
I have been running Office 2004 on my Intel iMac with Snow Leopard for some time and all of a sudden I cannot save a document. Word just stopped responding and I have to force quit. I can open Word and create a new document but I cannot save it. I reinstalled Word but that didn’t help. Then went to the Internet and found at least one other Mac user having the same problem which it suggests is caused by a recent Mac Security Update:

So I check for a new Mac Security Update and sure enough there was one. I downloaded it and now Word seems to be working, as it should. I can both open and save files. The only problem remaining is that when I open Word I get the following error message “An unexpected error occurred while trying to load the Microsoft Framework library”. I contacted Apple but they were unable to help.
How can I get rid of this error message?Look, I realize you might have to get your machine working, so this is how you revert back.
Restore proceedure to pre-Security Update 2012-001 v 1.0 & v 1.1
#1 Backup your personal data off the machine.
Backup files off the computer (not to TimeMachine). If you don't have a external drive, get one and connect to the USB/Firewire port and simply drag and drop copy your User folder to the external drive, it will copy all your files. It's best to have two backups of your data off the machine when trying to restore.
Disconnect all drives now to prevent any mistakes from occuring.
#2 Reinstall OS X 10.6 from disk
Get out your 10.6 install disk and make sure it's clean and polished (very soft cloth and a bit of rubbing alcohol, no scratches) If your disk is borked, you'll have to order a new one from Apple with your serial number.
Hold c boot off the 10.6 disk (wired keyboard, internal optical drive), use Disk Utility First Aid to >Repair Disk of your internal drive (do not format or erase!!), Quit DU and simply re-install 10.6.
Note: Simply reinstalling 10.6 version from disk (without erasing the drive) only replaces 10.6.8 with 10.6.x and bundled Apple programs, won't touch your files (backup anyway) or most programs, unless they installed a kext file into OS X itself. (only a few on average do this)
#3 Update to 10.6.8 without Security Update 2012-001 v1.0 or v1.1
Reboot and log in, update to 10.6.8 via Software Update, but EXCLUDE THE Security Update 2012-001 by checkinig the details and unchecking the blue check box.
#4 Reinstall any non-working third party programs
When you reboot, make sure to reinstall any programs that require kext files installed into OS X, you'll know, they won't work when you launch them or hang for some reason as they are missing the part they installed into OS X.
If for some freakish reason you get gray screen at any time when booting (possible it might occur when you reinstall older programs), hold the shift key down while booting (Safe Mode, disables kext files) and update your installed third party software so it's compatible with 10.6.8.

I am planning to buy an iMac 21.5 inch with Fusion drive and 16 GB RAM while i visit USA for a conference. My country of origin is India and the option of configuring to my need is not avaialble here in India. My concern is once i am back to India, will my iMac be covered by the Apple's Protection Plan if something goes wrong here in India?

I have just purchased a new iMac OS Xlion version 10.7.3 and I'd like to install Windows. I have a disc for XP but the Boot Camp Assistant manual only refers to Windows 7. Please does anyone know if it will it work with XP.?
Get a Virtual Macine software program, Parallels, VMware Fusion or VirtualBox, and install XP in a virtual machine.
You can't install XP in a Boot Camp Partition with Lion or Mt Lion, only Win 7. -

If you absolutely must have the Microsoft applications, you can purchase and download them from http://microsoft.com/mac.
Free software suites LibreOffice and OpenOffice offer similar functionality (word processing and spreadsheets).
Or you could do worse than look at Apple's Pages, Numbers and Keynote, which should already be installed in your Mac and can export to Microsoft formats if need be.

I am using a new imac with osx lion 10.7.5 and have just bought Apple iLife 11 on dvd so that I can install iWeb and iDVD, as macs no longer ship with these apps. When I click on install iLife I get a message saying "iLife.kpg was signed with an invalid certificate.
Next problem is that when moving through the installer and get to custom install, as I only want to install iDVD and iWeb, I am presented with the option to install iDVD, Sounds & Jingles and iWeb, but not sure what is going on with the other 3 options iLife Support etc, they seem to be greyed out but still look like they may install over the top of the newer versions already on my imac. Is it ok for me to just go ahead and hit install? Or do I have a problem?Yep, just install iDVD (plus sounds and jingles) and iWeb if you want it (but note that iWeb apparently won't work if you upgrade to Mountain Lion).
Then use Software Update to get any late iDVD updates. -

The list covers the early iMacs with Intel processors that shipped with either OS 10.4 or 10.5 and have only two RAM slots. As you can see, some have limits to what version of OSX you can install. If the step rkaufmann requests does not narrow down your model, you can do one more thing.
While the "About this Mac" window is open, click the "More Info..." button at the bottom of that window to get this (assuming you are really running OS 10.5.8 as shown in your profile):
The code I've indicated with the red arrow corresponds to the codes in the second column on the chart. Post the code your computer reports--again don't post a serial number.
If your iMac shipped with only 1GB RAM, I fear it is one of the earliest models that cannot be upgraded all the way to Yosemite. -
I have a music library on an iMac and I got a new iPhone and a new MacBook Pro and I want some of the songs from the iMac library to be on my phone and my MacBook Pro and I have a new Apple ID on my phone and my Mac book pro, is this possible if so how do I do it?
Providing specifics on all the ways to do this will take more time than I am willing to spend here these days. You can do some of this with Home Sharing. You can transfer the entire library from one computer to another, If you do that you can delete what you don't want from the transferred library.
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to select a library, then guide it to the 'iTunes Library.itl' file in the moved iTunes folder. If you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there. (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)
You do not want to use a new AppleID. Change the AppleID on the new phone to the old ID. Purchases made with one AppleID cannot be transferred to a different one and it will be a royal pain to manage two Apple IDs.
Change iTunes Store account on an iOS device - Log out of your current account with Settings.app > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores on iOS 6) > tap on your AppleID. Log in with a different account. I have an Ipod touch 8GB, an Imac and an apple laptop. I have had this Ipod for years and it has been synced at different times to my Imac and laptop. Recently the battery ran way down on my Ipod. I plugged it into my Imac. After it charge I had to restore it. After I restored it Itunes couldn't connect to it because, "An unknown error occurred". I tried to connect it to Itunes on my laptop and got the same error message. I have tried different USB cables. Since Itunes won't connect, I can't do another restore. I don't know what do try from here.
Some additional info that might be related to this. Just before this Ipod problem came up I crashed my hard disk on the Imac. I had to erase it and reload all my stuff (I was able to copy the contents to a hard drive connected to my laptop using the firewire - I couldn't use time machine because of the crashed HD.) My Imac has been restored to the latest Itunes - I am running OSX 10.6.8.Thanks for the help Ricky.
I did put my iPod into DFU and iTunes recognized it in restore mode. After restore I am back where I was before - iTunes cannot connect because of an unknown error.
I have installed Jailbreak to see if I can bypass itunes but haven't succeeded. I can't get my computer to recopgnize the iPod as a device.
I'll take it to a Genius bar next time I am in the area of one. Until then I'll probably continue to try hacks to get it connected.
