Interesting Feature/Bug?

Try this: Play a song in iPod, and if you have a Internet connection, hit that as well.
In the top right corner, you'll see a small blue play button. Scroll down the page a bit, then hit that button. It does nothing in iPod, but zings you back to the top of the page you're viewing.
OK - what's that about?

Hey Podcaster,
Im not able to recreate that issue either.
You could try restoring the iPhone as described here:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305744 and see if the issue persists.

  • Feedback about glitches, misbehaviors errors, missing features, bugs

    I couldn't find a thread where I could submit feedback about glitches, misbehaviors errors, missing features, bugs (and things of that nature) encountered when using Edge and needed a place where I could collect them writing about them as they happen and before I forget.
    This is not a whishlist, rather simply a place where I'd like to send feedback and hopefully get clarifications on something that may be a non working feature, erratic behavior or a bug.
    That said here is the first one of them:
    Where: Edge Animate > Library>Assets
    What: Impossible to remove from the list the folder and/or assets
    When: Always
    How: After adding asset (add an image to the composition) remove the image from the composition. Then if you would like to remove that asset, there isn't an option to do so. The contextual menu only offer one choice "Reveal in Finder" (on a Mac) which is basically reading the path of the asset and opening the containing folder for the selected asset.
    Only removing the file or folder from the location (which Edge has stored as a path) would yield a removal from the list of the Library>Asset The item will be removed from the list when, upon right clicking and selecting "Reveal in Finder" Edge will not find the asset and ask the user if they want to reload the content of that list which basically will refresh the pointers and if the asset won't be found then the entry for it will be removed from the list. (Quite a cumbersome hoop-jumping just to remove an asset from the list)
    Why: Users wanting to manage and update the content of the Assets may want to see some listed but may want to ignore other entries that have been replaced with different assets, but they want to keep the files within the folder where they were originally placed.
    For instance adding images 001.jpg through 100.jpg  and later removing all odd images or even ones from the composition, the Library will still list them in the assets unless removed from that folder "physically" and placing them somewhere else doing an "update" in the library pane later as explained above. Leaving the unused assets in the list when not necessary adds to clutter and having to perform a manual workaround to update the UI isn't very efficient
    (a minor missing feature... not a feature request to start this feedback thread)
    Hope this helps keep track of issues, but if there's a better way/system, will be glad to use that instead.
    Cheers!

    Bug Reporting (is there anywhere users can provide feedback about bugs/program's glitches?)
    Not knowing where to list what would appear to be bugs/glitches I'll keep adding them here and hopefully someone at the Edge Team will look into it eventually as time allows
    Issue: Min W in Symbols' stage property won't stick to percentage.
    To reproduce behavior:
    - Create symbol,
    - Double click to edit created symbol,
    - When in Symbol Edit mode, click on the stage (once),
    - Edit the Min W of the symbol's stage properties on the left "Properties" panel,
    - Without changing the value (which will be zero), toggle px to percentage,
    - Save your project,
    ...et voilà by magic the property you just toggled reverts itself to px
    (To make it stick apparently it's necessary to change the value in the text field then toggle px to % and it will be properly kept when saving.)
    side note: I don't know if that's something that can be a factor in causing the glitch, but each time a project is saved and a the user is "inside" a symbol's stage, the values in the properties panel will display the main stage properties and then will go load again the properties of the symbol being edited.
    Cheers!

  • Interesting thread bug

    Hi,
    I'm developing a client/server whiteboard system for my term project. I've hit to an interesting threading bug. The very brief description of the goal is like this: A client has a method (getActiveUsers) to get the list of active(logged in) users from server. In order to accomplish this, it sends a command to server to receive the user list. In an undeterministic time frame, the server sends a message as a reply, which includes the user list. When the client gets the user list, it is expected to update its local user list. The code for these goes like this:
    // The method that returns the list of active users
    // in the system
    public Vector getActiveUsers()
    synchronized(activeUsers)
    channel.send(new ListActiveUsers(username));
    try
    activeUsers.wait();
    catch (InterruptedException e) {}
    return activeUsers;
    // The method that is fired when a new message
    // is received (Observer pattern)
    public void update(Message msg){
    if (msg instanceof ActiveUsersList)
    synchronized(activeUsers)
    activeUsers=((ActiveUsersList)msg).activeUserList;
    activeUsers.notifyAll();
    return;
    inform(msg);
    the Error message is this:
    java.lang.IllegalMonitorStateException: current thread not owner
         at java.lang.Object.notifyAll(Native Method)
         at domain.Whiteboard.update(Whiteboard.java:49)
         at services.messaging.Channel.inform(Channel.java:95)
    How can a thread be not owner of an object when it enters a synchronized block for that object?
    Thanks for any help.
    Regards...

    You synchronized on one object, referred to by your variable activeUsers, but then you reassigned activeUsers to refer to a different object and called notifyAll on that object. Remind yourself of the difference between variables and objects.

  • Feature/Bug Fix list for 10.2.0.4

    I know 10.2.0.4 is expected in July. I'm currently running 10.2.0.3 and interested in it because it has a fix for Bug 5082178 - "Bind peeking may occur when it should not." I'm interested in knowing what other improvements it contains.
    Can anyone point me to a list of features and bugs planned for the 10.2.0.4 release?
    Thanks,

    The README/ Metalink note for the patchset should include the list of all the bugs that are fixed. I don't believe Oracle publishes the set of bug fixes that will actually be part of the patchset until much closer to the release date since bugs fixes get added and removed during the final testing process.

  • Missing Features, Bugs, and Wish List for Apple Engineers

    I LOVE my iPhone. It is by far the best phone I have ever had. The interface is awesome. Great job Apple, but there are missing features and bugs that all of us want updated or wish were added. I know they were probably already thought of by Apple, but in an effort to make the phone perfect removed to make it more stable. Now that it is out lets make it perfect.
    This thread will hopefully give you guys guidance from the early adopters who share your love for the phone (and others who want to chime in). I want to separate the list into a few categories and hope everyone will add to this thread with their ideas:
    1) BUGS/CHANGES TO EXISTING APPS:
    - Period should be in alphabet keyboard (make space smaller) or when you go to symbol keyboard and hit period it should automatically go back to the alphabet keyboard (unless you double click the symbol button which means stay there like caps lock)
    - Individual delete (like Mail) of all lists (eg. call list, bookmarks list, history etc.
    - Multiple item in a List delete (see below for how to select). This is also so un-Mac like to not be able to select multiple items to delete. It is all or none for clear/delete on the iPhone.
    - Implement double finger slide...in maps double finger tap zooms out so the OS recognizes this, why don't you use a double finger drag to mean "select". There is no way to select some words in a sentence or a group of items. This could be how. eg. In a list (eg Mail) double finger slide over items you want to select (instead of singer finger drag which moves the list) then one finger slide to the right to delete the selected items from the list.
    - Copy and paste. Since there are no menus this would require a gesture (ala newton)
    - when you tap the battery icon it should bring up a battery status dialog (ala wifi join dialog where the screen dims): present charge, big battery icon (like the charging one), time left. In addition, instead of giving battery usage details only after a full charge, give it at any point.
    - Since you know that nights and weekends are at set times (and not variable like it was on Sprint where I came from)...the phone usage details should be broken down into: peak minutes used and N+W minutes used (not hard to figure out since you know the time and dates of calls)
    - Be able to change font/background etc in Notes app
    - faster way to get to favorites in the killer phone app after turning on phone. Just seems like it takes too many taps to get there to make a call on a phone.
    2) WISH LIST FOR NEW APPS (apps that can be added with existing hardware, see #3 for other wishes)
    - iChat (obvious and probably almost done)
    - VOIP (probably not going to happen, and wouldn't work in Europe where I would need it most gven network speeds there)
    - Flight tracker widget
    - Exchange support (probably in the works)
    - Push email from gmail and .Mac (probably in the works)
    - Bluetooth sync
    - DUN (probably not going to happen since AT+T does not want it)
    - Data/File storage with sync
    - TODO APP that syncs to to do in iCal
    - Ringtones, definitely from songs from iPod side (obvious and coming soon I am sure)
    -Search function like spotlight. Global would be awesome, but even just in contacts
    3) FUTURE HARDWARE RELATED WISHES (stuff we wish could be in hardware version 1 but know require a version 2):
    - GPS
    - 3G
    - LED that changes color and/or pulses (like MacBooks sleep light) that indicates things (eg charge status, Voice mail status, roaming status etc) without turning on the phone
    - Move camera to front to allow video conferencing (I doubt Steve would allow since it would mess up the clean front look)
    Well I could go on and will add to this thread later, but I need to go to work to show everyone (and sell more apple stuff since many of my colleagues have been converted to macs). Now, all you pioneers, start adding things to help our beloved phone become better!
    Peter
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.3.6)

    I agree with your post! I'm amazed by the simplicity, the screen, and the apps on the iPhone. They all have worked wonderfully for me, with just a few crashes while surfing or loading big email images. (I heard that shutting down the phone and restarting helps that.)
    The single flaw for me is that the phone app itself should be primary, with more options (quicker access, unique ringtones, voicedial?) and ease of use. The other applications are so elegant, but I need my phone to be very accessible and practical too.
    My wish list:
    1) Make it fewer taps to get to the point where you can make a phone call. How about the main button can be programmed to take you wherever you want. I'd choose to go to Phone Favorites, so I could speed dial right away.
    2) Be able to set a preference as to what app you're in when you wake up the phone. I'd choose phone keypad, some might choose iCal, etc.
    3) Add the period and comma symbols to the alpha keyboard.
    4) Allow different ringtones for specific caller ID's.
    5) Copy and paste.
    V2) With new hardware, add a "back" button to return to prev. screen. It could be small, on the side near volume?

  • Opentype Feature Bug in InDesign CS6 until CC14.2

    Hi,
    my name is Sami Mandelbaum and I am doing a Hebrew font with a simple opentype feature (final position)
    Hebrew has 5 letters that changed format when they are the last letter of the word (in the left, hebrew is a RTL language)
    I am doing the the programation in microsoft VOLT and is very simple:
    When the letters כמנפצ are followed by general pontuation (space, comma, period, collon and others) they become ךםןףץ.
    The VOLT compilation works perfectly.
    It works perfectly when I have tested in text viewer from DTL OTMaster 5.
    It works perfectly in Indesign CS3-ME and CS4-ME.
    In Indesign CS6, CC, CC14 and CC14.2 everything works except when it is followed by comma.
    I tried everything but it does not work with comma at all.
    Comma is a neutral unicode character like period and others and it should work.
    I have experience in programming opentype features and workarounds but this time I'm stuck.
    Could anyone confirm this bug, please?

    Buttons don't work in DPS the same way they work in PDF. Specifically, the Show/Hide Buttons action is not supported. There are show/hide workarounds that involve combining buttons with multi-state objects, even if the multi-state object is invisible. For details, see the Overlay Basics issue of the free DPS Tips app.

  • N97mini Offline - Feature / Bug

    1) Switch the N97mini to Offline
    2) connect the USB cable to the phone and a laptop
    3) make a modem connection from the laptop
    result: you got an working connection despite the phone appearing offline (cross in the connection area)
    Is it a bug? a feature?

    Never tried it, but would say it's a feature, you are in effect using the modem via the computer, the phone itself is still offline, and I would think if you tried calling/messaging yourself, it would fail to receive. Basically like using Ovi suite to install an app or music, the computer is 'controlling' the phone.

  • Lightroom features/bug fixes I would like to see in next version

    I love the Adobe Lightroom Application. It is very intiutive and out of the different RAW processing programs I've tried, it is the only one that has most of the features I need and has the least amount of complications. However, I think there are still places to improve upon:
    * Decouple raw processor from the monolithic software executable so that updates to the RAW camera component to add new cameras can be made without requiring huge downloads or reinstallation of a new software program but simply updating a few DLLs and files.
    * Improve performance of the Develop panel. It is extremely slow on my laptop running 32bit Windows 7 and 3GB of RAM with dual core processor (pre-Core duo). 8 to 10 seconds for the "loading" message to disappear per image no matter how often I have loaded or edited the image. No caching is being done at all.
    * On my higher powered Desktop (Quad Core2 processor/4GB RAM,Windows 7), Adobe Lightroom frequently will start behaving strangely after only a few hours of running. It seems like it is leaking resources or something because eventually functionality will start failing. Specifically, right clicking on images will no longer bring up menus for example. If i shutdown and restart the application, the problem goes away.
    * Photoshop-like healing brush. Many times I want to "brush" over areas of image defects but the only choice in Lightroom is the healing tool which always creates a circle and does not allow "brushing".  This only works if the defect is a spot and not an irregular area.
    * Adjustment with Arbitrary Mask tool. Bibble 5 has this nice concept where you can mask out a section of an image and then apply adjustments to it without affecting the rest of the image. You simply draw a mask and then you can apply adjustments to it. The only option in Lightroom is to select the "Mask" option but that leaves the decision of where exactly you want to mask to Lightroom which only uses edge contrast to determine masking area.
    * I'd like a way to tell Lightroom to update the metadata (write out) on all images that are out of sync. Right now the write metadata function will write out metadata to all files whether or not it is required. This means that it is inpractical to try to update your entire catalog as tens of thousands of files will be written to and not just those that are out of sync. This is very important as a way to preserve editing metadata in case of loss of the Lightroom catalog.
    * Option to write import metadata to imported files. For example, I have an import metadata for copyright and keywords and I want the imported JPG or DNG files to permanently have this metadata so that even if individual files are copied my copyright and other metadata are preserved with it.
    * Option to append text labels to automatically generated import destination folder names. So for example, I can still import into date based directories but append a description to help me remember what the folder contains when I'm later browsing it. Right now it is either/or. You can either choose the name of the import folder destination OR you can have the software generate one for you.
    * A google-type search box at the top of the library panel so that ad-hoc searches can be done without having to fool around with the filters. Everybody is used to a single search box for simple textual searches.
    * some way to filter images by whether they have been exported previously or not
    * Please support lens and shooting information for Sony DSLRs in both JPG and RAW files. Also support 3rd party lenses on Sony DSLRs without assigning the wrong Minolta lenses to them. I want to be able to see both Lens name, max aperture, focusing distance (if available) etc...
    * Some way to edit the Shooting lens information to support lenses which are not known to Lightroom, and if suggestion above won't be implemented, some way for the user to edit the lens id --> mapping table so that I can properly map my own 3rd party lenses.
    * Facial recognition/tagging option. Some way to have Lightroom apply people tags after I have tagged representative images. Handle multiple people in a scene.
    * Automatic (batch) export of images on schedule. I would like a way to configure Lightroom to automatically generate particular export configuration of all my images in a catalog (or some defined subset) such that new files or files that have been edited since last export are automatically exported on a schedule even if Lightroom is not running. Perhaps a Lightroom batch service. This is so that I can always  have up to date processed versions  of my images for use in my media center display. I would like to configure the Lightroom batch service to run weekly at say 2am every day, run a particular export function and export all new or modified images to a network share accessible by the media center. That way, I can always have access to cropped and edit images without manually doing exports all the time or having to remember which files I've edited and then export them. Also by doing this at off hours it would not slow down my computer while I'm using it.
    * Better profiles for Sony DSLRs and support for their picture styles the same way that Canon and Nikon camera are supported.
    * Teethering support for Sony DSLRs that have this feature
    * Support for parametric plugins -- Plugins that do not require the image to be exported before running.
    * Simple support for "picture frames" when exporting. Some way to apply a frame to an image as part of export with a dozen or so frames included and a way for 3rd parties to create more.
    * A better way to safely share catalogs or pictures between multiple computers/users in a networked environment.

    Did these come to you all at once, or have you been saving them up for a while?
    Anyway, Adobe *should* be able to handle long lists of FR, but another option is to break them up and submit them for voting on the new FR/Idea site that will shortly replace this one: (It was really hot for a while, but has cooled down lately...)

    They are already decoupled - you can update ACR independently for new camera support, however it's released at about the same frequency as Lightroom itself, so that doesn't help much. Perhaps this should be reworded: "Provide more timely ACR updates..."

    I've been complaining about this for a long time - ACR cache is worthless for me too - if dev image not in RAM cache, takes same amount of time to render whether in ACR disk cache or not. Some say ACR cache speeds things up for them - perhaps you need to *believe*...
    PS - After new motherboard upgrade, this went from 15 seconds to 3 seconds average.

    Yep - Lightroom still has some leaks - gotta restart it from time to time...

    +1 vote - arguably the most desired addition to the dev tools. I bet Lr4 will have this (no inside info though).

    Frequently requested - some use pre-startup database query + plugin to make collection in the mean time (I dont).

    RC Importer supports this - its an import plugin that bypasses the import dialog box - not for everyone...

    Maybe the seeds of a good idea here, but may be worth some refinement/clarification - what would be searched? Would special syntax be supported? Personally, I mostly hate all 1-box search fields, because one never knows what's being searched and how, e.g. does it search the whole catalog?, is it case sensitive? On the other hand, I get the convenience factor... - I think if accompanied by help and/or the ability to pop up a dialog box for refinement or options, this might make a nice addition. Along these lines, I sometimes think a quick-smart-collection would be nice too - for when one wants to search 2 text fields, instead of just one. I keep a temporary smart collection just for this purpose, but still...
    HopeSpringsEternal2008 wrote:

    Change detecting export plugins have mostly solved this for me (and publishing for some folks), although adding export info (and metadata change info) to catalog for searching / sorting still sounds like a good idea to me...

    Yes, better export management would be welcome. Export Manager might help you (if you have multiple export destinations to update), but its not a panacea... Many of us ultimately "consume" our photos outside Lightroom, having the consumption copies kept up to date more fluidly would be good. Using change detecting export plugins (along with export-manager) and/or publishing helps..
    HopeSpringsEternal2008 wrote:

    Yep - much room for plugins to get better integrated with Lightroom proper, to participate in image enhancement, as well as other things...

    That would be nice. Although support for 3rd parties to add frames *upon export* already exists (export filter plugin + export post-process actions), as well as adding text overlays and such. But since its not built into Lightroom, one has to find them and configure them... And there is no good way to preview them in Lightroom... I think this would go nicely with the previous request - ability to feed image data to plugins for preview in Lightroom. Even if these updates were not built-into the dev module - i.e. weren't kept updated automatically whilst editing - just being able to click a 'see final' button or have it rolled into the build-previews function, so one could have post-process imaging plugins (with preview before export) - might be a nice compromise until true imaging plugins (that fit into dev pipeline) are supported.
    The end - for now...

  • Interesting PCD bug? Runaway process creating objects?

    Currently, we are on EP 6 sp 16. We have had a very interesting situation occur with our development portal at random times. Not always, but every so often, the following happens. We will either copy an oobject (for instance an iView) to another folder or change the id on an object. As we step through the wizard on the final step where it should complete the action, it will sit at 50% complete and just flash over and over....50%....over and over....after several minutes, it will error out. You would think that nothing happened, but what actually happens is that it makes THOUSANDS of copies of the object...naming them like myiview_0, myiview_1, myiview_10, myiview_100, myiview_1000, myiview_2, myiview_20....and on and on. And yes, there will be thousands made. As you can guess, it is VERY annoying. Luckily our folder layout makes it easy to simply go delete the whole folder with all the multiple copies, but had we not done that.....geeez....lots of work. What is worse is that sometimes, you can't actually see all the duplicate objects until the portal is restarted (I found this out, because they showed when I tried to create a package but not in the PCD in content admin). They actually are invisible in the PCD!
    Sooooo anyone else run across this? Any idea why this might be happening?

    Well...no one seemed to be having the same problem. We have not found the root cause, but thankfully, using the PCD Inspector tool makes it MUCH easier to delete all the "corrupt" objects (though it is still time consuming as each "hiccup" creats about 30 pages of bad objects). I will just mark this one up to one of those portal "oddities". =)

  • Interesting artwork bug...

    This is going to be an interesting one to explain. Please read VERY carefully:
    On my iPhone, along with many other songs, i have the In Flames album titled "Come Clarity" and the All That Remains album called "The Fall of Ideals." For some odd reason, whenever i pull up the In Flames album ON MY IPHONE, it displays the All That Remains (ATR from here on out) artwork instead. My initial thought was that, somehow in my media library, it had put in the ATR artwork for in flames - i wish it had been that easy.
    If i go into my music library ON MY COMPUTER, it displays the proper album artwork and if i right click -> get info -> album artwork tab it shows the proper In Flames, Come Clarity album artwork (which is an awesome album artwork by the way). If i have only the in flames album on my iphone, obviously, it displays the proper album artwork because the getalbumartwork(), or equivalent, would have nothing else to pull from the directory. Now for the fun stuff.
    As i said above, the album artwork is correct on my computer for in flames, however, when having the iphone plugged into my computer - and this is the important part - i click on the iphone device, then music, putting me in the iphone directory, and go through the same steps as above (right click -> get info -> album artwork tab), it still displays the correct album artwork. Put simply, the artwork is correctly stored on the iphone itself, however, there seems to be something wrong with the getartwork() function in the coding itself, or at least you would think so; but why, then, would it perfectly pull my nearly 2000 other songs and their album artworks from the directory?
    I have tried deleting all the music from my phone and then re-syncing multiple times. I have also tried different syncing orders; for instance, putting in flames on first, then the rest of my music, or putting on all my other music first, then the in flames album. All of which have the same end result.
    If anyone can figure this one out, you're my hero.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Image Trace with Document Library palette feature - bug?

    I've been trying out the different palette options in Image Trace and I believe I've come across a feature that does not work as the designers intended. In Adobe's documentation, there is very little said about the feature, which I believe is intended to allow you to substitute a custom palette for the palette that would be created by the original artwork that is being traced. It's under the Palette drop-down menu and is available if you've selected the Color Mode. It's called Document Library. In Adobe's documentation, there are these two paragraphs:
    [Reproduced from http://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/image-trace.html#tracing_options]
    Palette
    Specifies a palette for generating a color or grayscale tracing from the original image. (This option is available only when Mode is set to Color or Grayscale.)
    To let Illustrator determine the colors in the tracing, select Automatic.To use the document swatches as a palette for the tracing, select Document Library.
    This would be a great feature, if it worked! I have a lot of artwork to trace, it's all in a set yellow-to-green palette, and it would be a big time-saver if I didn't have to change the palette after the trace. Unfortunately, the feature doesn't work as promised. Either that, or I'm doing something wrong.
    I've embedded a video to demonstrate the problem, and would appreciate any comments.

    What I started with:
    What I expected
    (but in a different palette):
    What I got:
    Do I really need to describe what I don't like about these results?
    Since the original experiment, I have tinkered with it and discovered that the more colors I have in my palette, the better. I had three colors; it only used one of the three. With some settings changes I could get it to use two. With six colors, it used four. I was unable to get it to use all six.
    I apologize for the poor quality of the original rendering of the video. I have since re-rendered it. Embedded below, but if you still cannot see what is going on, I recommend you click on the direct link and go to YouTube, where you will be able to either use the Large Player feature or make the video full-screen. Hopefully that will make it possible to see more detail.

  • "Engineer to" feature bug

    Repro steps:
    1) Delete All Relational Models in Design
    2) Engineer to Relational Model
    Result:

    Hi,
    Thanks for reporting this.  I have logged a bug on it.
    I presume you selected Engineer to Relational Model from the right-click menu for the Logical Model.
    When I used the >> (Engineer to Relational Model) button in the Logical Model's toolbar instead, I found that the Warning dialog contained the relevant text.

  • ICal Feature, Bug, or Configuration Problem?

    We have a school calendar running on iCal Server (10.6.4) called "CS Calendars". Each user has one default calendar when the account is created on the local MacBook (10.6.4). Many users have created additional calendars under "CS Calendars" so that they will show up as "busy" if they schedule stuff on the other calendars.
    Here's the problem...
    A users sends an "invite" to another user. That user accepts the invite. The appointment shows up initially under "(username)'s Calendar" under "CS Calendars". The user now wants to change the appointment to another of their calendars under "CS Calendars". As soon as they select the other calendar an error message pops up saying:
    The server responded with an error.
    The request for (Name of Invite) in (Name of OTHER Calendar) in account "CS Calendars" failed.
    The server responded with
    "HTTP/1.1 502 Bad Gateway"
    to operation CalDavMoveEntityQueueableOperatioin.
    I have googled that error operation and can't find but 6 links on the entire internet that has any reference to it and some of them are duplicates.
    Is this a prohibited operation by CalDAV? (The user SWEARS to me that she was able to do this last year - we have had 4 iterations of 10.6 since then) Is this a bug in CalDAV? or (more likely) Do I not have iCal Server configured correctly OR the client misconfigured?
    Thanks for any help.

    Apple Engineering is looking into this issue. Not sure what the problem is but it appears that if you have a user with an iCal acccount created via the "automatic" method this type of behavior occurs. The fact that it was working until recently makes me wonder if a software update broke something?
    What has worked so far is to delete the old iCal account. Create a new one but use "CalDAV" as "Account Type". Then enter port # 8443 and check the SSL box (we have both SSL and non-SSL access to our calendar). Create the account.
    Unfortunately, as soon as you do another error message is thrown stating that the username or password is incorrect. When you go back to account settings, the Password Field is BLANK. Re-entering the password seems to then fix the issue.
    I didn't pick up on the problem because I only have one calendar and don't move appointments around like my users do. I'll report what Tech Support finds out.

  • Really interesting bizarre bug in TreePath, I'm confused beyond belief

    Inside a large program, in which I use custom TreeModel instead of DefaultMutableTreeNode's etc, I have a following method which needs to recurse up a TreePath.
    This seems to be a MAJOR bug, because if you look in the following ten lines, I verify several times that the argument is non-null (and even return early if it is).
    However, at the line "while( ... )" it throws a NullPointerException! What, is the keyword "while" null ???!?!?! Because we know that tp is NOT null.
    We also know that we can call "tp.getPathCount()" because I do so and even print it out!#
    If you have any thoughts, please CC to [email protected], because at the moment I'm sure Sun will refuse a bug report (without more info) and I doubt I can make a small program that demonstrates this - otherwise surely it would have been found before!
    public static Hashtable getMapping( TreePath tp )
    System.out.println( "tp = "+tp );
    Hashtable rc = new Hashtable();
    if( tp.getPathCount() > 0 )
    else
    return rc;
    System.out.println( "tp = "+tp );
    int tpcount = tp.getPathCount();
    System.out.println( "tp.count = "+tp.getPathCount() );
    while( tp.getPathCount() > 0 )
    return rc;
    }

    Oh dear. After prolonged testing, I realised the problem: when the TreePath is the root, it returns null as parent , which happens just before I do the test as to whether to carry on - I had originally put the test just before that, but had moved it to just afterwards, thereby causing the problem!
    Very foolish, really.
