Internet Explorer limitation for Web Dynpro Table Data

Hello everybody,
I am having a trouble while trying to display a Web Dynpro table in Internet Explorer. This table is bound to a Context Node that is filled up manually with code, and for example if I passed more than 116 elements to the node the table only shows 116. Since this issue only happens with IE, I consider that it is related to the client part, something related with JavaScript. Any idea/suggestion?
Many thanks in advance,
Jesus

Hello Siva,
Thank you very much for your response. There is no message error, it is just not showing the entire node content, the weirdest thing is that even though WD is client independent this only happens with Internet Explorer. It works properly with any other browser such as Mozilla FF, Chrome and Safari browsers when the table has above 116 elements. When the table has below 116 elements it works properly with any browser. I have tried with IE6.0 and 7.0 using NWDS 7.0 and EP 7.0 SP 18.
The table is child of a Group element which in turn is child of the Root Element.
Best Regards,
Baez

  • Adobe Flash Islands for Web Dynpro ABAP Data Binding problem

    I have downloaded the NetWeaver 7.1 Trial (includes Adobe Flash Islands for Web Dynpro ABAP). I try to create a very simple FlashIslands component running within the Web Dynpro Application, everything looks good. However, all binding to the Flex component is not working. Does anyone know why?
    Since it's trial version, I login as BCUSER into NSP system. When I load up the build-in sample, such as Chart Demo, the binding to Flex seems working. I suspect if it has anything to do with package? I could only create my Web Dynpro under the $TMP package, as all the build-in sample are defined in SWDP_DEMO.
    Please help.

  • How to use EVS with different data in each row, in a Java Web Dynpro table?

    Hi all,
    I am using EVS in a column of java web dynpro table.
    Let's say the name, and context attribute, of this column is column1.
    It's filled dynamically using an RFC, that uses as input parameter the value of another column, and related context attribute, from the same table (Let's call it column2).  Obviously, from the same row. So, in other words: the values of the EVS in column1 of row1, are dependent of the value of column2 of row1. And the values of the EVS in column1 of row2, are dependent of the value of column2 of row2. And so on... Hope i could explain myself ok.
    The code I'm using works great for filling the EVS dynamically:
    IWDAttributeInfo attrInfo = wdContext.nodeDetail().getNodeInfo().getAttribute(nodeElement.COLUMN1);
    ISimpleTypeModifiable siType = attrInfo.getModifiableSimpleType();
    IModifiableSimpleValueSet<String> value = siType.getSVServices().getModifiableSimpleValueSet();
    value.clear();
    if(this.initRFC_Input(nodeElement.getColumn2())){
         for (int i = 0; i < wdContext.nodeRFCresult().size(); i++){
              value.put(wdContext.nodeRFCresult().getRFCresultElementAt(i).getLgort()
                 , wdContext.nodeRFCresult().getRFCresultElementAt(i).getLgobe());
    In this code, nodeElement is the context row of the table that is passed dynamically to the method when the value of colum2 is changed.
    HOWEVER, the problem I'm having is that after executing this code, EACH NEW ROW that is added to the table has by default the same values as the first row, in the column1 EVS. And, for example, if I refresh the values of the column1 EVS in row 2, all EVS values in the other rows are also refreshed with the same values as the ones of EVS in row 2.
    How can I make sure each row EVS has its own set of independent values, so they don't mess with each other?
    Hope you guys can help me. And please, let me know if I didn't explain myself correctly!
    Thanks!

    I just did as you said (I think), but it's still having the same behaviour as before (same data for all EVS in the table).
    Here´s what I did:
    I
    In node "Detail" (cardinality 0...n, singleton set to true), which is binded to the table, I created a child node named "Column1Values" wth cardinality 1...1 and singleton set to false.
    "Column1Values" node has an attribute called "column1", of type String.
    I did the binding between attribute "column1" and the column1 inputfield celleditor in the table.
    I created an event called Column2Changed and binded it to the column2 celleditor of the table. I added a parameter called nodeElement of type IPrivateCompView.IDetailElement to this event, and mapped it to the column2 editor in the table so that I can dynamically get the nodeElement that is being affected.
    I added the following code to the onActionColumn2Changed(wdEvent, nodeElement) method that gets created in the view:
    IWDAttributeInfo attrInfo = nodeElement.nodeColumn1Values().getNodeInfo().getAttribute("column1");
    ISimpleTypeModifiable siType = attrInfo.getModifiableSimpleType();
    IModifiableSimpleValueSet<String> value = siType.getSVServices().getModifiableSimpleValueSet();
    if(this.initRFC_Input(nodeElement.getColumn2())){
         for(int i =0; i < wdContext.nodeRFCresults().size(); i++){
              value.put(wdContext.nodeRFCresults().getRFCresultsElementAt(i).getId(),
                                  wdContext.nodeRFCresults().getRFCresultsElementAt(i).getDesc());
    And with this, I still get the original problem... When the EVS of one row is updated, ALL other EVS of the table get also updated with the same values.
    What am I missing? Sorry Govardan, I bet I'm not seeing something really obvious... hopefully you can point me in the right direction.
    Thanks!

  • Display data in Web DynPro table from database via EJB

    I have a JavaBeans model which has a method populateDataToTable()to retrieve data from database via Session bean (calling entity bean, returning ArrayList of data) and the data needed to be display in the Web DynPro table.
    User Interface (Web DynPro) <-> JavaBeans Model <-> Busineess Logic (session bean) <-> Persistence (Entity Bean)<-> DB table.
    The context bindiing and table part is ok. How do i load the data to the table ? what the coding to put in wdDoInit() ?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    in wdinit(),
    Collection col = new ArrayList();

  • How to configure SSO for web dynpro ABAP (not web dynpro Java)

    Hi Experts,
        I am testing SSO in IDES for web dynpro ABAP (Not for web dynpro Java / not for portal). When I am entering url of web dynpro application in web browser like internet explorer, then it should ask for user id and password first time, after login whenever user would access that url, it must not ask for user ID and password (url would be access web browser in mobile). For this I select to configure single sign-on for web dynpro ABAP. I have done below works:
    1). I have created a web dynpro application having url: http://susws076.sap.swk:<port>/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/zadb_hello_world2
    2). I run TCode SICF and access service node to "Zadb_hello_world2". Double click on it, hit change. pressed "logon data" tab, select "Alternative logon
         procedure"
       Then deleted all logon procedure other than "SSO Authentication" and saved.
    3). Go to "STRUST" and create certificate, choosed "Environment==> Logon Ticket" fill the required parameters and execute. It is OK (no red traffic
         signal).
    4). Execute TCode "RZ10" to change profile parameter, insert new parameter (indicated by red arrow)
    After all this settings I opened a browser enter above URL and hit enter but there is an error
    There is no login page. It directly showed this error page. No cookies is saving.
    Can anyone tell me what all the settings/configuration other than this I have to do. And is there any wrong setting done by me?
    How to set the for single sign-on?
    Thanks in Advance

  • Load and Display Multiple Images in a Web Dynpro Table

    I am new to Web Dynpro and I am wondering if anyone can help me with an application that I am currently developing. I have a particular requirement to store images in a database table (not MIME repository) and then display them in a WD table element. An image can be of JPEG, PNG or TIFF format and is associated with an employee record.
    I want to create a view in my application that displays multiple images in a table, one image per row. I want to do this using Web Dynpro for ABAP, not Java. I have looked into pretty much all examples available for Web Dynpro and came to the conclusion that Components such as WDR_TEST_EVENTS and WDR_TEST_UI_ELEMENTS do not have any examples of images being stored in a database table and viewed in/from a Web Dynpro table element. Programs such as RSDEMO_PICTURE_CONTROL, DEMO_PICTURE_CONTROL and SAP_PICTURE_DEMO do not show this either.
    The images to be displayed in the Dynpro table are to come from a z-type table, stored in a column of data type XSTRING (RAW STRING). So I would also like to know how to upload these images into this z-type table using ABAP code (not Java).
    Your help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Copy from clipboard and paste in Web Dynpro table

    Hi
    I have a client requirement where the client wants to copy the table from some already existing application and paste the data  directly in web dynpro java table.  It is similiar to copy the data from clipboard and paste it directly in web dynpro table.
    I would like to know is it feasible. If yes, please provide some links or guide me on achieving the same.
    Thanks
    Harsimran

    Hi
    I think one way you can do it,
      1 . try to export the table dato to excel sheet.(copy and paste to excel)
       2. Importing the excel data to WD table.
      for more details about reading excel data, there is many blog on sdn just check it.

  • Sending Web Dynpro table contents via Email

    Hi,
    I have a requirement where in I need to send an email from the Web Dynpro Application.
    I am using JavaMail for this purpose. And I am able to send text messages to the required Email Id.
    But my requirement is that I need to send the contents of one of the Web Dynpro table along with the text message.
    Is it possible to send the table contents via mail?
    Kindly let me know if there is any other approach.
    Regards,
    Shilpa B.V

    Hi,
    I don't think there are any methods in IWDTable or the IWDNode which can dump entire data on to something which we can pickup.
    The only way is to iterate through the elements in the node and construct a big string buffer with HTML Table code and include the other part of the mail also in the same string buffer as html. Then set the MIME type of your mail to HTML and send the mail.
    Check sending HTML content via email

  • Search help for Web Dynpro using the SAP-search help

    Hi,
    I’m trying to create a generic search help for Web Dynpro using the SAP-search help. It should working so, that I construct a Web Dynpro-component, that gets the data of the search help from the SAP-system, interpreted it and creates the ui-elements and the needed context generic.
    The mapping between the Input field of the customerview and the right search help is to be made with an xml-file, which contains the information: name of the view, the input field, the search-help-name and the name of the field that will be returned.
    The xml-file is reading from a helper-class. That helper-class contains any information, witch need the search help-component as well as the customer-component.
    The initialization takes place in the method wdDoModify of the customer. The call of the search help from the customer should be implement with an Action, witch is bound to a Button(create dynamic in the helper-class behind the input field).
    In a second foot should be create a plugin for eclipse, witch insert the used files (search help component, helper class, …) in the project. In addition it should create the call in the customer generic.
    It would be great if someone can give me a feedback!

    Hi Mike,
    The BlanketAgreement.exe is a reference to the executable that will be created when you compile the solution you created in Part II - Part III. I think there is a mistake in the tutorial because it asks you to name the project 'Blanket' which means that by default the executable will be called Blanket.exe and not BlanketAgreement.exe. The tutorial also misses the step asking you to compile the Blanket project before you go on to create an installer. You should compile your Blanket project in Release mode before creating an installer. By compiling the project you'll get a Blanket.exe file in the bin folder of your Blanket project which you then need to add to the installer per the instructions.
    SAP do offer development courses in some areas and there is training material here on the SDN and on the SAP partner portal (and maybe the customer portal as well). Try searching this forum for 'training' or 'tutorial' and you should get a few links. There's also a development certification.
    Personally I'd recommend you give yourself a little project to work on and just get stuck in
    Kind Regards,
    Owen

  • Drag and Drop between Web Dynpro Tables on Cell Basis

    Hi Experts,
    I need to develop a Drag and Drop Functionality as follows:
    I have two tables. I want to drag a row of the first table and drop it in a particular cell of the second table.
    Is it possible to implement this using the Web Dynpro Drap and Drop Functionality?
    If not, does anybody have an idea of how to implement this using other concepts (Flash Integration, Building up a Grid of Images and defining those as drop tragets, etc..)??
    Valuable Advice is highly appreciated!
    THANKS, Johannes

    Thanks for the Video.. It gives some information about Drag and Drop, but still, it does not say what I need to know.
    Again:
    I need to know if there is a way to drag particular cells in a Web Dynpro Table to other locations in that same table. Plus: I need to know if there is a way to drag and drop rows of one table into particular cell of another table.
    Similar to what we do in our Outlook Calendars: We have a week in view and we see our appointments as blocks within that week view. Now, we can drag and drop these blocks to other locations. That is what I need to implement!
    Does anybody have an idea?
    THANKS, Johannes

  • How to call custom themes for Web Dynpro ABAP Application?

    Hi,
    I need to change the appearance of Web Dynpro ABAP application. So far I followed below steps,
    1.     Created theme folder u2018testngou2019 (SE80->MIME Repositoty -> SAP->PUBLIC->BC->UR->nw5->themes -> u2018testngou2019 ).
    2.     used program BSP_UPDATE_MIMEREPOS to dowmloaod content of  u2018sap_tradeshowu2019 (SE80->MIME Repositoty -> SAP->PUBLIC->BC->UR->nw5->themes -> sap_tradeshowu2019) to desktop.
    3.     Modified the themes using Eclipse Theme Editor.
    4.     used program BSP_UPDATE_MIMEREPOS to upload modified themes to MIME repository u2018testngou2019  (SE80->MIME Repositoty -> SAP->PUBLIC->BC->UR->nw5->themes ->  u2018testngou2019) .
    My current URL is like http://server.name:XXXX/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/hrrcf_a_startpage_int_cand?sap-client=XXX.
    Now I want to know how custom themes called for Web Dynpro ABAP Application.
    Is my approach correct?
    ...Naddy

    Hi Naddy,
    What you used is one way and even I failed when tried that method,
    Instead go to SE38 - WD_THEMES - and you need to upload the zip file and you need to follow a folder structure.
    it is case sensitive, atleast the zip file.
    Make a zip file by name "Project.zip" -
    Create a Folder Project and have the below folder structure,
    1  data - all the properties files and also the designinfo file, below is the code
    2  themes - (to get all the files download the theme from portal and you will have all the folders)
       2.1  ur
         2.1.1 name of the theme
           2.1.1.1 common
           2.1.1.2 csf
           2.1.1.3  r
           2.1.1.4  ur - all the css files (would be good if you can get the files from the server.)
           2.1.1.5   WSRP
    3  war - empty folder
    *.designinfo
    isVisible=true
    version=7.0.14.1.0
    isDefault=false
    isSapDesign=false
    designName=**** name of the theme
    Once done create a zip file and click on Start Import and give the path and will ask for transport request, it will take a while to upload once done as mentioned in the use the parameter sap-ep-themeroot="path"
    This will resolve the issue.
    Cheers-

  • Want docs for Web Dynpro ABAP

    Hi All ,
    Can anyone please send me the Docs or link for Web Dynpro ABAP .
    Thanks in advance
    Rahul

    Hi,
    Web Dynpro ABAP
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/db22242d-0701-0010-28a2-aeaa1fefd706
    Also, I have the official Web Dynpro for ABAP documentation. Please let me know if I should send it to you.
    Hope that the following also helps you.
    Web Dynpro for ABAP (WD4A, WDA) is the SAP standard UI technology for developing Web
    applications in the ABAP environment. It consists of a runtime environment and a graphical
    development environment with special Web Dynpro tools that are integrated in the ABAP
    Workbench (SE80).
    Web Dynpro offers the following advantages for application developers:
    ? The use of declarative and graphical tools significantly reduces the implementation
    effort
    ? Web Dynpro supports a structured design process
    ? Strict separation between layout and business data
    ? Reuse and better maintainability by using components
    ? The layout and navigation is easily changed using the Web Dynpro tools
    ? Stateful applications are supported – that is, if the page is changed and the required
    data remains intact so that you can access it at any time throughout the entire
    application context.
    Note that stateless applications are not possible.
    ? Automatic data transport using data binding
    ? Automatic input check
    ? Automatic operation of the Web Dynpro application using the keyboard
    ? User interface accessibility is supported
    ? Full integration in the reliable ABAP development environment
    Web Dynpro Architecture
    Definition
    Web Dynpro is the SAP NetWeaver programming model for user interfaces (UIs).
    The Web Dynpro model is based on the Model View Controller paradigm, and has the
    following features that build on the classic dynpro model:
    ? Clear separation of business logic and display logic
    ? Uniform metamodel for all types of user interfaces
    ? Execution on a number of client platforms.
    ? Extensive platform independence of interfaces
    Structure
    Metamodel Concept
    Web Dynpro provides support for developing Web representation of a business application.
    You use specific tools to describe the properties of a Web Dynpro application in the form of
    Web Dynpro metadata. The necessary source code is then generated automatically and
    executed at runtime. In addition to the events offered by the framework, you can also define
    your own events for a Web Dynpro application. However, the event handling must always be
    programmed in separate source code areas which are executed automatically when the event
    is triggered at runtime.
    In Web Dynpro, each user interface is always made up of the same basic elements. These
    elements of the metamodel can be statically declared using Web Dynpro tools.
    It is also possible to implement elements of the metamodel at runtime and to change them or
    reintegrate them at runtime. Using these implementations, you can make any changes or
    enhancements to a user interface that has been created by declarative methods by
    generating new interface structures at runtime.
    This means that you can combine declarative processes and the implementation of source
    code.
    Graphical Development Tools
    To support this declarative concept, both the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio and the
    ABAP Workbench contain a range of Web Dynpro tools. You can therefore generate a large
    proportion of a Web Dynpro application using the tools provided, without having to create your
    own source code. This applies to the following parts of the application:
    ? Data flow between the front end and back end
    ? Layout of the user interface
    ? Properties of user interface elements
    The Web Dynpro tools enable you to create source text areas manually within generated
    source texts. These areas are not changed if the source code is regenerated.
    Separation of Business and Application Logic
    Using Web Dynpro enables a clear separation of business logic and display logic. A Web
    Dynpro application runs on the front end and has local or remote access to the back end
    system via a service. This means that the display logic is contained in the Web Dynpro
    application, while the business logic and the persistence of the business objects run in the
    back end system. The following options are currently available for connecting Web Dynpro
    applications and the back-end system:
    ? An interface generated using adaptive RFC, through which BAPIs of an SAP system
    can be called
    ? An interface for calling Web services
    ? A self-generated interface
    The source code required for connecting the Web Dynpro application can be generated
    from a UML definition of the Web Dynpro interface. A UML definition can be imported
    into the Web Dynpro tools as an XML file.
    Conversion of the Model-View-Controller
    Conversion of the Model-View-Controller Programming Model
    Every Web Dynpro application is structured according to the Model View Controller
    programming model:
    ? The model forms the interface to the back end system and thus enables the
    Web Dynpro application access to data.
    ? The view is responsible for the representation of the data in the browser.
    ? The controller lies between the view and the model. The controller formats
    the model data to be displayed in the view, processes the user entries made by the
    user, and returns them to the model.

  • JCO Connection for web-dynpro tutorials (EP 6.0 SP9 downlaod from SDN)

    Hello,
    I have a question regarding JCO connections for web-dynpro example/tutorials. I have installed WAS 6.40 sneak preview from EP 6.0 SP9 download from SDN. Installation instruction says: Choose "No SLD available"
    but the web-dynpro example/tutorial asks to create JCO connections by going to web-dynpro -> content admin..etc on http:<host>:50000..Here, all the tabs relating to creating JCO connections appear to be "protected" on my screen. so I can't do anything further. By going to http:<host>:50000/sld, I also tried to add SLD server..but that is not helping. There is some "import" button, but which CIM file (in which folder etc) am i supposed to import for a simple test system? What are the steps for a bare minimum setup so that I can use the WAS 6.20 system at work-place as my backend & try out the web-dynpro examples? Do I really need SLD setup? Where is documentation about all this after one installs the WAS 6.40 JAva? I was expecting it somewhere at least in the eclipse IDE help-documentation..None of the web-dynpro tutorials explain this !
    thanks

    Thanks everybody.
    NagaKishore, after doing all the steps, when I goto
    localhost:50000-> web dynpro -> content administartor, and try to "maintain JCO Destinations" I am getting this error: (full stack trace not included)

  • Procedure for creating transparent table, data element and domain

    Hi,
    Can anybody let me know the procedure for creating transparent table, data element and domain.
    Thanks,
    Mahathi

    Hi
    Database table and its components
    A database table is the central data structure of the ABAP/4 data dictionary.
    The structure of the objects of application development are mapped in tables on the underlying relational database.
    The attributes of these objects correspond to fields of the table.
    A table consists of columns (fields) and rows (entries). It has a name and different attributes, such as delivery class and maintenance authorization.
    A field has a unique name and attributes; for example it can be a key field.
    A table has one or more key fields, called the primary key.
    The values of these key fields uniquely identify a table entry.
    You must specify a reference table for fields containing a currency (data type CURR) or quantity (data type QUAN). It must contain a field (reference field) with the format for currency keys (data type CUKY) or the format for units (data type UNIT). The field is only assigned to the reference field at program runtime.
    The basic objects for defining data in the ABAP Dictionary are tables, data elements and domains. The domain is used for the technical definition of a table field (for example field type and length) and the data element is used for the semantic definition (for example short description).
    A domain describes the value range of a field. It is defined by its data type and length. The value range can be limited by specifying fixed values.
    A data element describes the meaning of a domain in a certain business context. It contains primarily the field help (F1 documentation) and the field labels in the screen.
    A field is not an independent object. It is table-dependent and can only be maintained within a table.
    You can enter the data type and number of places directly for a field. No data element is required in this case. Instead the data type and number of places is defined by specifying a direct type.
    The data type attributes of a data element can also be defined by specifying a built-in type, where the data type and number of places is entered directly.
    <b>Two Level Domain Example</b>
    A domain defines a field technically and therefore it may
    be used at different business levels.
    A data element describes the meaning of a domain in a certain business context.
    A domain, however, is used for the technical definition of a table field (for example field type and length).
    Therefore, although a take-off airport (data element S_FROMAIRP) would have a different business meaning from an airport where a plane lands (data element S_TOAIRP), they could still have the same domain(here S_AIRPID) because technically we could assign the same number of characters whether the airport is a take-off or a landing airport.
    <b>Definitions of Table in Database</b>
    In SAP R/3 tables are defined as
    A) Transparent tables: All of the fields of a dictionary table correspond to a field in the real database table.
    B) Pooled tables: Different tables which are not linked to each other with a common key are combined into a TABLE POOL. Several logical tables thus exist as a single real database table.
    C) Cluster tables: Several tables linked by a common key may sometimes be combined by the data dictionary and made to exist on the database schema as a single table.
    SAP is evolving R/3 tables in transparent tables.
    <b>Elaboration on each of the definitions</b>
    A transparent table is automatically created on the database when it is activated in the ABAP Dictionary. At this time the database-independent description of the table in the ABAP Dictionary is translated into the language of the database system used.
    The database table has the same name as the table in the ABAP Dictionary. The fields also have the same name in both the database and the ABAP Dictionary. The data types in the ABAP Dictionary are converted to the corresponding data types of the database system.
    The order of the fields in the ABAP Dictionary can differ from the order of the fields on the database. This permits you to insert new fields without having to convert the table. When a new field is added, the adjustment is made by changing the database catalog (ALTER TABLE). The new field is added to the database table, whatever the position of the new field in the ABAP Dictionary.
    Tables can also reside on the database as Pooled tables or cluster tables
    Pooled Tables: Different tables which are not linked to each other with a common key can be combined into a Table Pool. The tables contained within this pool are called Pooled Tables. A table pool is stored in the database a simple table. The table's data sets contain, in separate fields, the actual key for the data set to be stored, the name of the pooled table and the contents of the data set to be stored.
    Using this schema, several logical tables are combined into a single real database table. Although the data structure of each set is lost during the write to the table pool, it is restored during the read by the ABAP/4 Data Dictionary. The ABAP/4 Data Dictionary utilizes its meta-data to accomplish this.
    Since information must be prepared (defined) within the ABAP/4 Data Dictionary when it is read or written to (or accessed), this process itself defines these as not transparent tables
    Cluster Tables: Occasionally, several tables may be linked by a common key. The ABAP/4 Data Dictionary can also combine these tables into a single table. Each data set of the real table within the database contains a key and in a single data field, several data sets of the subsequent table for this key.
    As mentioned above, these table types require special data handling, therefore they are not transparent tables.
    <b>Technical Settings in Dictionary</b>
    The data class logically defines the physical area of the database (for ORACLE the table space) in which your table should be created. If you choose the data class correctly, the table will automatically be created in the appropriate area on the database when it is activated in the ABAP Dictionary.
    The most important data classes are master data, transaction data, organizational data and system data.
    Master data is data that is rarely modified. An example of master data is the data of an address file, for example the name, address and telephone number.
    Transaction data is data that is frequently modified. An example is the material stock of a warehouse, which can change after each purchase order.
    Organizational data is data that is defined during customizing when the system is installed and that is rarely modified thereafter. The country keys are an example.
    System data is data that the R/3 System itself needs. The program sources are an example.
    Further data classes, called customer data classes (USER, USER1), are provided for customers. These should be used for customer developments. Special storage areas must be allocated in the database.
    The size category describes the expected storage requirements for the table on the database.
    An initial extent is reserved when a table is created on the database. The size of the initial extent is identical for all size categories. If the table needs more space for data at a later time, extents are added. These additional extents have a fixed size that is determined by the size category specified in the ABAP Dictionary.
    You can choose a size category from 0 to 4. A fixed extent size, which depends on the database system used, is assigned to each category.
    Correctly assigning a size category therefore ensures that you do not create a large number of small extents. It also prevents storage space from being wasted when creating extents that are too large.
    Modifications to the entries of a table can be recorded and stored using logging.
    To activate logging, the corresponding field must be selected in the technical settings. Logging, however, only will take place if the R/3 System was started with a profile containing parameter 'rec/client'. Only selecting the flag in the ABAP Dictionary is not sufficient to trigger logging.
    Parameter 'rec/client' can have the following settings:
    rec/client = ALL All clients should be logged.
    rec/client = 000[...] Only the specified clients should be logged.
    rec/client = OFF Logging is not enabled on this system.
    The data modifications are logged independently of the update. The logs can be displayed with the Transaction Table History (SCU3).
    Logging creates a 'bottleneck' in the system:
    Additional write access for each modification to tables being logged.
    This can result in lock situations although the users are accessing different application tables!
    <b>Create transparent table</b>
    Go to transaction SE11. Enter name of table you want to create (beginning with Y or Z) and click on create pushbutton
    Enter the delivery class and the table maintenance criteria
    The delivery class controls the transport of table data when installing or upgrading, in a client copy and when transporting between customer systems .
    The display/maintenance indicator specifies whether it is possible to display/maintain a table/view using the maintenance tools Data Browser (transaction SE16) and table view maintenance (transactions SM30 and SM31).
    Enter the name of the table field and the data element. The
    System automatically populates the technical details for
    existing data elements.
    So far as possible it is advisable to use existing data elements which befit the business requirements.
    However, we may create data elements if need be. The same is shown in the next slide.
    To create a data element simply double click on it.
    Alternately create a data element by simply choosing the
    data type radio button on SE11 initial screen.
    <b>Create data element</b>
    The system prompts you to create a new data element.
    Choose the Yes pushbutton.
    Under the data type tab enter the domain name which
    determines the technical characteristics of the field.
    Further characteristics tab: Allows you to specify a search help assigned to the data element.
    It also allows you to specify a parameter id which helps you populate a field from SAP memory.
    Field label: Can be assigned as prefixed text to a screen field referring to the ABAP Dictionary. The text is displayed on the screen in the logon language of the user (if the text was translated into this language).
    <b>Create domain</b>
    If the domain does not exist in the data dictionary the
    system prompts you to create one.
    Give the technical characteristics under the definition
    tab. Value range allows you value restriction at domain
    level.
    Value range tab:
    As explained in the section Consistency through input checks one can restrict the possible values for a field at domain level itself by either entering fixed values or by specifying a value table under the tab Value range.
    <b>Currency/Quantity fields in a table</b>
    A currency or a quantity field must be assigned a reference field from a reference table containing applicable qty unit or currency unit.
    Field of the reference table, containing the applicable quantity unit or currency
    A field containing currency amounts (data type CURR) must be assigned a reference field including the currency key (data type CUKY).
    A field containing quantity specifications (data type QUAN) must be assigned a reference field including the associated quantity unit (data type UNIT).
    <b>Create transparent table continue</b>
    Maintain the technical settings of the table by clicking on the tab
