Internet Explorer Rendering

Hi
I was thinking about upgrading to iWeb 08. One of the things that has seemed irritating with IE is that versions of IE don't display iWeb pages properly because iWeb uses .png files.
Is this still the case with iWeb 08?
Are there any options to use .jpeg within 08 for example?
Does anyone have any resources that they can point me at to overcome this issue with iWeb 06?
I am trying to avoid having to pay a web designer to create some pages for me that don't load badly with the Windoze browser.
TIA
DAVID

Hey.....I was looking at this topic and I have to agree with both of you at the same time......In my particular case my site works fine on safari and firefox.......but in explorer the text and the fonts are all screw up, but I can see the nav bar........In Netscape all the fonts and text are good....but you can not see the nav bar......and the biggest problem for me is that in both browser non of the blogs or slideshows work.....my url is www.rvassmer.com
I have look with different browsers at some other people's sites that have posted a comment and there url......and you can not see the nav bar in netscape or see there blogs working fine......
An example is this guy http://web.mac.com/sboben/Mystics/Welcome.html
In my site I made the nav bar in flash, but when I put the one from iWeb, I could see it on explorer but not on netscape.......
But there must be a way because your site works perfect on netscape.........
iWeb as some bugs but for somebody like me that don't have a clue about coding is pretty cool.....specially if you have to update a site very often......

  • How can I use same bookmarks file for both Firefox & Internet Explorer?

There are lots of questions and answers about how to import/export bookmarks/favorites to/from Internet Explorer, but they all seem to assume that afterward you're only going to use the one browser.
But like many other people, although I prefer to use Firefox, there are times I need to use IE for certain sites, or to see how a page I'm creating will display to IE users. This means that I regularly edit bookmarks/favorites in both browsers, and can't possibly keep up with importing/exporting back and forth. What I need to do is use the same set of bookmarks with both browsers, so that the next time I bookmark a page in IE it will be available when I re-open Firefox and vice versa.
I had things configured that way on my last computer, and it worked beautifully for years. Of course, it's long enough ago that I forgot how I did it, and a perfect memory wouldn't help anyway, since it was under Windows XP, and older versions of both browsers. Now I'm in the throes of learning Windows 7 on a new machine and haven't yet figured out how it thinks or wants me to think, so until I get my feet under me I'll need some pretty specific instructions. (Explanation would also be appreciated, as I do like to know the whys of things and it will help me become more proficient eventually; but at this moment my mental bandwidth is pretty low and my priority is just to get some basic things working.)

    Hi fastauntie,
This add-on may be able to help: [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/plainoldfavorites PlainOldFavorites]. It allows you to access your Internet Explorer favourites from within firefox. There are some instructions here: [http://www.howtogeek.com/59050/from-the-tips-box-simple-ie-to-firefox-syncing-easy-windows-toolbars-and-identifying-usb-cables/]
Also you might be interested in [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ie-tab-2-ff-36 IE Tab v2]. It will allow you to use the Internet Explorer rendering engine from within firefox. It is useful if you want to see how a page would display in IE without leaving Firefox.
    I hope that helps,

  • IWeb Not Rendered Properly by Internet Explorer

I can't believe that a this product doesn't produce pages that can be rendered by Internet Explorer!
What rocket scientist at Apple thought that people would stop using IE or that people using iWeb would re-code all of the "features" of iWeb, that is the automatic stuff that makes it useful the first place?
So, does iWeb 09 solve this huge mistake?

It's Internet Explorer that's the problem. It does not adhere to the accepted web standards that are currently in place and followed closely by iWeb. You'll have to dumb down iWeb in order to get IE to render it correctly. Search for posts by Roddy with the topic Internet Explorer. He has many posts with tips on what to do to get iWeb sites more compatible with IE. One of the many is in this topic: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1837981&tstart=0.
This Google search shows many sites discussing Internet Explorer's failure to follow web standards.

  • Pivot table not rendered correctly in Internet Explorer

    Hi
We have used Pivot table in the fusion development. The pivot table renderes properly in FireFox, but rendering in IE it gets distored. Is there any know issue with IE, Please me know ?

Are you sure the problem is the size of the icons? Beginning with version 6.0.2900.2190, Microsoft Internet Explorer stopped displaying the Web Server /mc-icons GIFs. This regression was apparently a side effect of Microsoft's attempts to fix IE's handling of malicious image files.
Apart from not using the buggy versions of IE, I'm not aware of a simple fix. I suspect a future Web Server 6.1 service pack will include a work around for the IE bug, but probably not until 6.1SP7.
I've added tweaked icons to my blog at http://blogs.sun.com/elving?entry=directory_listing_icons_and_ie that IE will display properly. You may wish to copy these into your ns-icons directory.

  • News Feed Not Rending in Internet Explorer but Rendering in all Others

I have a problem that is causing a major headache. I purchased a news feed from a site to put on my site. It is a simple cut and paste. The feed renders in Safari, Opera, Firefox, and Chrome, but it won't render in Internet Explorer. I have tried IE 6,7,8 to no avail. I ran validation on it and just saw the usual errors. Here is the link to the page:
    http://www.md-mortgages.com/news.html
Here is the code I pasted into the body:
    <p align="center"><script type="text/javascript" src="http://feeds.mortgagenewsdaily.com/Scripts/NewsFeed.js" id="MNDNewsFeed">
      { subscriberKey: "49664" }
    </script>
I have no idea why IE won't render this. Any ideas? I attached the document.

Just tested it in IE7 and the news feed works fine too

  • JQuery UI tabs rendering issue in Internet Explorer

jQuery UI tabs do not render rounded in Internet Explorer. Is there anyway I can fix that issue? Does anyone know how to apply custom image for jQuery UI tabs?
    Thanks.

I looked at jQuery forum and confirmed that CSS3 is not supported by any IE browser.

  • Mea Culpa - Internet Explorer now renders my iWeb 2 test site correctly?

After umpteen server tweaks I finally got my iWeb 2 test site uploaded
    http://www.mjweber.com/mjwredsite/mjweber/welcome.html
It displayed as designed in Safari on my MBP. I then fired up XP in Parallels and loaded the site in Internet Explorer. I didn't expect it to work but it did. Now I'm really stymied!
I've had numerous compatibility issues with iWeb 2 and IE in the past week paralleled here by hundreds of other posts here. Now, when I finally upload the site, it suddenly works?
Either the Internet gods are playing with me or the IE incompatibility stems from launching a published iWeb 2 folder from a local XP hard drive. That's where my navigation menus didn't display. What else can I say? I'm going to have a drink.
I'd appreciate independent site validations by anyone not using Safari or OS X... Linux, Unix, Windows, Netscape, IE, etc. Thanks!
    http://www.mjweber.com/mjwredsite/mjweber/welcome.html

Hi thanks for the advice, the text is centred vertically , left aligned and there is plenty of space at the end. I will try increasing width/height but not sure if that will help as box is already much bigger than text.
In fact it works perfectly on another web page ...thats what surprising ....even the html for the two pages is identical from what we can see!
    Take a look at
www.cibsys.com/cibsys1/index.html on the UK site and run down the various pages on the left side to see what happens (if you have IE on a PC). On the PC on some pages perhaps 30% eg workflow services the menu on the left fails to draw correctly leaving the text un readable.
    Thanks

  • Problem with Youtube on Windows 8.1 enterprise / Internet Explorer 11

When the youtube videos finishes, the account logs off.
I've tested on other video hostings, there is not any problem (vimeo.com, rutube.ru etc.)
The problem seemson both, internet explorer desktop and app versions.
    Hardware: HP Laptop 2510p
Software: Windows 8.1 Enterprise Clean Install.(The VGA driver is installed automatically by Windows.)
Have anyone the same problem? Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
It's not a bug, the cause of this issue is that  your current video card or video driver does not support GPU hardware acceleration well, and you may have to install the latest video driver supporting hardware acceleration.
For detailed information about this setting, you can refer to this article:

  • My verticle Spry menu will not work in Internet Explorer

I know a lot of people have posted about similar issues, and I've researched multiple "solutions" on multiple forums for something that will work, but nothing has solved the problem so far.
Here is a link to the prototype homepage: http://www.abrasivesales.com/indexnew.html
Everything looks great on my mac when opened in Firefox or Safari, however when opened on Internet Explorer on a PC, the menu ceases to be verticle, instead extending horizontally past the end of the screen.  Also, the menu items adopt a white background color, and none of the submenu items will appear when their parent menu item is rolled over.
PLEASE HELP....this issue has kept me from launching the site for a week now, and my superiors are wondering why this problem is taking me longer than it did to build the homepage in the first place, so I'd love to look like less of an idiot.
I assuming this is a CSS issue, so I've posted my CSS code below:

I solved one of my own problems.  It turns out I still had a setting for width set to "auto" instead of a pixel amount.  So now my menu displays normally and my submenus are no longer invisible.
One one tab, "Products", I set the top at -430px, which internet explorer seems to ignore.  I'm so close!  I'll search for the answer but any help is greatly appreciated.

  • BT Yahoo mail and Internet Explorer display issues

There seems to be a problem with using a version of Internet Explorer whilst looged into BY Yahoo Mail:
    Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 - IE 8.0.7601.17514 - Display is OK
XP Professional Version 2002 SP3 - IE 8.0.6001.18702CO - See attached for what it looks like, It has a similar appearnce to what it might look like in text mode. IMPORTANT - This worked fine up until around 27th June 2012, then the problem started. If you click on the Mail icon, to get your Inbox, again, it renders better, but doesn't work - I just get the waiting icon (circle)
Yes, the operating system platforms are different (XP is still supported by MS), and yes the IE version are only _slightly_ different, but this worked up until a week ago, so must assume that some change to the operating system might have caused this, e.g. an update.
    Anyone else seen this?
Are BT aware of this, and if not what can they do about it.
    Thanks in advance.

  • A problem with this webpage caused Internet Explorer (IE9) to close and reopen the tab

I have IE9 (using 32-bit version) installed on a relatively new laptop with Windows 7 64-bit. Up until last weekend IE9 worked fine and Flash Player worked fine too.
At the weekend a webpage asked for Flash Player to be updated - which I did. Ever since then whenever I go to a webpage needing Flash Player I get the message "A problem with this webpage caused Internet Explorer to close and reopen the tab". This happens twice and then an IE9 error page.
I have read the discussions in here about the problems with Flash Player 10.3 and have tried the various solutions. I have updated to 10.3.181.16 having tried 15 and 14 previously. Same problem.
I have reset IE9. Same problem.
I have disabled all add-ons which stops the problem. If I enable just the Flash Player add-on then the problem recurs. Since there are so many webpages that use Flash I do not want to run my browser without this add-on running.
If I enable the add-on and run IE9 using software rendering instead of GPU rendering then I don't get the problem. However, this isn't exactly making the best use of the resources on my laptop.
This may well all be related to the 10.3 problems but no one seems to have mentioned having a problem with tabs closing and reopening so I thought I would post on here to check.
Any suggestions for how to solve this (other than using software rendering)?

Thanks again for your reply. I appreciate the time you have taken to respond.
I think, however, you misunderstand the problem. IE9 does not reopen the tabs on just one website - it is doing this on every website that needs Flash Player. Therefore, running in Compatibility mode is not an option. In fact, because IE9 reopens the tabs so quickly and then ends up with an error page, I cannot even click the Compatibility button anyway.
I could use ActiveX filtering - true. All that this means is that Flash does not play on any of the websites. When I want to re-enable ActiveX for a particular website where I need to see the Flash Player item, this just triggers the error.
This problem also happened on .14, .15 and well as the current .16 version. It did not happen with the previous version of Flash Player that I had on the system (version 10.2 I think).
The fact is that either Flash Player or IE9 or both is/are broken. The two choices I am still left with are:
    1. Use software rendering (which contradicts the latest advertisements for IE9 about unleashing the power of IE)
    2. Use another browser - I have no problems with either Firefox or Chrome

DON'T GIVE UP ON ME. PLEASE.

  • Flash 8 and Internet Explorer

I am creating a website for work and I noticed that in
Internet explorer it doesn't display my text in my flash file. It
does however display images. Does anyone know why this is happening
and how I can fix it?

A common cause of this is that you published your swf for
    Flash Player 8
but that an older Flash Player is installed, like version 7.
    FP7 will
play many Flash 8 swfs, but the text rendering is different,

  • Podcast Producer and Internet Explorer

I've configured Podcast Producer on 10.6.8, and it is working fine - items are processed from the Capture software through to PcP2 and Xgrid, and are then uploaded to a Wiki.
The issue is with clients using Internet Explorer (any version) and their ability to play audio files uploaded from Capture or through the web interface of the wiki. Videos work fine, but whatever code is used to upload just audio files to the wiki cannot be interpreted by IE. I know that 10.6.8 was meant to address some of these issues, but I am just not sure how to proceed.
Has anyone had a similar experience?
    Cheers
    Kieran

Not sure if this will fix your problem, but I was having the same problem until I looked at the specs for XGrid, it has to run on an Intel Mac. This is where you can get the specs:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306737
Here is what is in the doc:
    Podcast Capture requirements
Any Mac running Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard
iSight camera (built-in or external) or FireWire DV camcorder
    Podcast Producer Server requirements
Any Mac running Mac OS X Server version 10.5 Leopard
Xsan for optional cluster file services
    Podcast Producer Xgrid rendering requirements
Any Intel-based Macintosh Server or Intel-based desktop Mac (a Mac Pro, for example)
Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard or Mac OS X Server version 10.5 Leopard
At least 1 GB of memory (RAM) plus 512 MB of additional RAM per processor core
At least 50 GB of available disk space
Xsan for optional cluster file services
    Quartz Extreme-enabled video chipset
Note: Quartz Extreme support can be verified in the Graphics section of Apple System Profiler.
Note: If a system is providing multiple Podcast services (for example, Podcast Producer and Podcast Producer Xgrid rendering), the system needs to meet both requirements.

  • Dynamic faces and Internet Explorer

Thanks for taking a second to read my post, i hope you can help. I am almost complete with my web app using Netbeans VWP and Dynamic Faces. I have come across a simple application that i can not get working in Internet Explorer and as simple as it is I am surprised that it is not working. I cant believe that the Dynamic Faces team would just ignore compatability with IE altogether. Basically i am trying to get AJAX interaction going on by adding text into a textbox and adding a new DynaFaces.fireAjaxTransaction(this); to the submit however it does not seem to work. Maybe you can help...

I think you have two options. You can open most modal subVI panels
directly on a remote machine. The popup panels won't be in a web page,
but it will work with few changes.
A second approach would be to change the app slightly. The buttons that
launch the subVIs will turn into URL links. The links will open a web
page with a different embedded panel.
