Internet mail account setup inactive

Hi,
When I go to Home>Setup>Email Accounts
the Internet Mail account button seems to be disabled, and hence I can never setup an account through my phone. I have my personal e-mails etc. added through the carrier to my phone, but I am curious to know what I can do to make it start working from the phone, as it is a defect in my phone.

  • Unable to click on Internet Mail Account

I recently received an email that I had to revalidate my personal email account that I have been using on the phone for the past two years.   I follow the steps however when I go to setup, nothing happens with I click on the Internet Mail Account (from the list or the menu)  My Enterprise account is working fine.  I have tried the reboot both with device off and on and tried to follow other steps to delete and resend the service books.  I have re-registered with the wireless network but nothing seems to work.  This is really frustrating.  I really wish I could have more management capability in the desktop software.  Can anyone help?

Well I have finally won the war against this horrible phone after many wasted hours. Since none of my "options" seem to work I needed worakarounds for everything. Even though I was getting my work emails and it had it's icon back I called ny help desk at work to get a new activation code sent for my enterprise account. After entering the new password and waiting for it to sync for about 10 minutes... success. All of a sudden my personal email account appeared in it's own icon with all my old emails still in it. I have since hidden then main messages icon as it is more a hinderance than anything. Guess I know thw workaround if I ever need to do it again for a new account.
This all started because I had to change my personal email address password. I also have a Samsung phone and it was very simple. I hit the button for email and it asked for a new password. Why can't blackberry do this as well?!

  • Disable/Bypass the "Mail Account Setup" wizard

How can I disable or bypass the "Mail Account Setup" wizard and just create a new account in the "Account Settings" panel? The "Mail Account Setup" wizard won't let me get that far without jumping through all its unhelpful hoops, and I don't know to disable or bypass it.

"I have been having people with almost the same question for years"
Then obviously there's a need for it to actually be addressed. Right?
I (and apperently many other people as well) have a set of connection settings, all we want to do is enter them, but TBird keep trying to force us into handholding mode, autodetecting, etc. The thing won't even LET you enter the settings without forcing it's own autodetection routines first. And why force *everyone* (not just average Joes) to use a completely *separate* settings panel for new accounts when you ALREADY have an account settings panel? A panel which, I might add, is FAR more useful than the redundant "new account" one because it exposes all the account settings, not just a small subset.
Is it really that hard to let us non-dummies actually *just enter their settings*??? Especially when you fully admit you get a lot of people asking to *do just that*?
Why try to force "the Mozilla way" on all your users when Mozilla makes such enormous claims about supposedly beleiving so heavily in customization and personalization?
Frankly, you really don't have to userstand it at all. Obviously there *is* a need for it, otherwise you wouldn't be "having people with almost the same question for years". Doesn't that tell you something?

The new dialog added by that add-on is trivial to bypass *and* it doesn't force an auto-config attempt before allowing manual config, so I'm very happy with it as a solution, thanks.

  • My internet mail accounts won't work on Mail

I have a number of internet mail accounts, none of which I can get to work on 8.1.  I haven't used OS X Mail in quite awhile, but wanted to try to get back to it with the Yosemite upgrade.  I've input my incoming server and outgoing server and made sure the ports matched my site's mail.
I can't find any known issues with it.  My Gmail works fine, and my internet accounts work just fine on Postbox.

Are you using SSL or not? Note that Yosemite will try and auto-set the settings, so it may be best to not set the ports manually and let Mail try and do it, if you just use your email address to set up the account.

  • Internet Mail Account

The button for the Internet Mail Account is froze and will not let me create email account. I have the enterprise for work and this is working fine.
This started when I changed my yahoo password from my personal PC.
    Please advise...

Battery pull first.  From the device, go to mobile.blackberry.com
Scroll to Communicate and click on Email.
Click on the Integrate now for the email service you want to add and see if that works.

  • Cannot remove Internet-/Mail Accounts (can't even see them).

    Hey.
I don't know whats up with this, but when I go to my mail account preferences and press the "-" (minus) it says that "The mail account [email protected] is shared by other applications on this mac. You can remove it from Internet Accounts" and offers me a button to go directly to Internet Accounts. When I go there - I don't see the account. I have several emails installed and I cannot delete a single one. None of them is showing.
    Any help?

    Operating system is Yosemite.

  • Mail account setup

Trying to setup my mother's new macbook.
She has an existing bellsouth.net e-mail account.
When I try to add the account I get the error "SMTP can't connect to the server..."
    (her .mac account works fine)
I'm sure all the info is entered correctly--
    Ideas?
    Many thanks

It looks like bellsouth.net support forwards to the AT&T site. For POP email accounts they are recommending:
    Incoming mail server: POP3
Outgoing mail server: Outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication
Incoming mail port #: 995, secure connection (SSL) checked
Outgoing mail port #: 465, secure connection (SSL) checked
    Your Email Address:
    [email protected]
    Incoming (POP)
    pop.att.yahoo.com
    Outgoing (SMTP)
    smtp.att.yahoo.com
Here's their page to set up using an older version of Mac Mail - but the settings should still work.
    http://support.att.net/bellsouth/asp/contentview.asp?sprt_cid=1fe5ff01-b129-4dd5 -bb48-61ce1d7e84f3
I guess the main difference is that they a saying port 995 instead of port 993.
    Hope this helps.

  • No Advance option for Mail account setup...

I'm trying to setup an "Other" mail account and don't have the Advanced section. What should I do???

If you have more than two accounts on your ipod touch, the account which you are syncing your mail, contacts, calendars with will be the account that will push the mail. All other accounts are fetch.

  • Mail account setup loop

I recently reinstalled Mac OS X on my MacBook Pro (to get rid of some of the software I had downloaded/installed during my first run with a Mac), and I had backed up my Keychain, Mail and preferences, and iCalendar database to a CD--or so I thought. It seems that none of the files were correct during the burn, but that's okay; I'm not out much. I was still able to import my mail after I finished setting up my accounts.
Now everytime I run Mail, it asks me to setup my accounts again. It's like the settings just doesn't stick.

For your information, you don't need to reinstall OS X to remove downloaded software; not only is it time consuming, it's completely unnecessary. By and large, to remove a piece of software you've downloaded and installed, you locate the program, click on it once to select it, then press Command-Shift-Delete to move it to the Trash, then empty the Trash. Some installer packages also have uninstall features built in to find all the files they may have scattered on your hard drive during installation.
You may have a corrupted Preferences file. Go to Username/Library/Preferences and find the file com.apple.mail.plist, and drag it to your Desktop. Then try launching Mail and setup your Mail account(s) again; quit Mail and relaunch to see if it asks you to setup accounts again. If not, then your problem would be solved and you can delete the old preferences file on your Desktop.

  • OSX Mail account setup window will not accept imap input

When trying to add icloud account to  OSX Mail the input dialoge  that is automatically sent from iclould to set up the account does appear in the account setup page. But the receiving Imap field remains grey even though the correct information is there (greyed) so when I go to save it refuses because there is no entry in that field. It could be that I am living in China at the moment I have 2 other email addresses that I have trouble receiving mail from so I redirected every thing to icloud because that was the only one I could rely on but now that doesnt work either. All sorts of corrupted keychain entries pop up as well with lots of extra attributes allowing access to many applications. I have deleted them. It would seem that when I access my mail account s via safari the login pops up a second time but looking closely I find Iam already logged in. So I click the another page to avoid it. I feel that there is more to it. I even reinstalled OSX Lion.
My Ipad is not so affected but still delays and missing rerouted emails.

  • New Mail Account Setup

I just setup a new work e-mail account on Mail on my iMac. For some reason it is not appearing on my iPhone even after I check the box 'Replace information of this iPhone - Mail Account' under the 'Advanced' Option in the 'Info' tab in iTunes.
Am I doing something wrong? I don't remember having to physically set up my MobileMe account on my iPhone. Everything seemed to just sync.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

MobileMe syncs over the air but you will need to sync your work account through iTunes.
Connect your iPhone, make sure "Sync selected mail accounts from" is ticked in the Mail Accounts section of the Info tab and that "Mail" is selected in the drop down box and then sync. How the mail-box on your phone now operates alongside the mailbox on your Mac depends on which protocol you are using to connect to your work e-mail account (IMAP or POP) or if it is an exchange server account with push enabled. If it's not exchange, you might find IMAP more useful as it will ensure all mailboxes are kept in sync. POP is really an old protocol designed when people only used one mail client. If you need any further assistance, I am happy to help.
