Internet outage in Villas, NJ

Is anyone else experiencing problems in Southern NJ? For over 36 hours now we have had very very slow interenet connection. I called tech support and they said there was an outage but that 50 miles away from me but no other issues at the moment. I have friends that have verizon DSL that live in a 5 mile radius from CO and they are experiencing the same issue so hopefully verizon knows there is a problem.

I'm in the same boat outage since thursday, they said it would be fixed in 8 hours, after that 24 hours after that 2 days, now it's 2 more days. At this point it is completely unacceptable, juast t ell me from the begining we have no ETA and I would have been happy, but now I guess i am going with clear.
Edit: I live in Lancaster, PA

  • Linksys SPA2102 does not reconnect itself after an Internet outage

I have the SPA2102 VOIP adapter. It is connected to my router through one of it's ports. When my internet goes out, obviously I lose my phone. But when the internet comes back up, the SPA2102 does not reset itself. I have to unplug it and plug it back in to reconnect to the internet.
Is there anything that can be done to have this automatically reset if the internet goes out?

In some other cases , you even need to power cycle the whole network just to get the internet back working which is more frustrating, but this does not happen on all SPA's on the same setup I guess. There's no specific parameter to make the unit automatically reset after an internet outage. Try setting a valid static IP on the WAN side of your SPA2102, setting DNS using the IP of the main router sometimes work or you may try using universal DNS. Check also the firmware version.

  • Internet outage this morning

Verizon internet service was down in College Park for several hours this AM (3/19/12). Explanation?

is there one single phone # I can call about verizon internet outages?
Notice at night (after 10PM) lately it is often down.

  • Software update causes internet outages

I have had this issue 3 times.  Jetpack asks for software update and once the update is complete, intermittent internet outages occur.  Any way to roll back software or wipe the SD card and start again and not accept the software update.

    Its a
    Jetpack™ 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot™
and I have done all that and talked to Verizon. I have a different model jetpack that works perfectly fine so I know its not my location, my PCs or any other variable.  I am on my 3rd JetPack under warranty.  It seems that until the software update is done, the jetpack works fine.  What I am trying to figure out is does the software upgrade go to the SD card or the firmware of the jetpack.  If its to the SD card, I saw somethign about reformatting the SD card, however I am not quite clear how to do this as I don't see it as a drive when I connect the jetpack to my laptop.  Just looking for other options.  This really needs to go to Pantech but I don't have any power there.

  • FIOS Internet Outage in whole of NJ

    Hi folks,
Would greatly appreciate if any one can confirm this...
Is it true that whole of NJ is facing FIOS outage right now... I.e. 2011/06/14 1930 hrs EST and outage still continuing...?
Just got off a call with support after being on wait for 45 minutes due to high call volume, and I was told there that outage area is entire NJ and there is no ETA.
I asked where I could find status of this outage on internet and I was told by the support person that she does not know about it.  Hence I asked what are the best ways to find out the status and I was told
    a. Try going to verizon.net in the morning and if I am able to get there that means internet is back up
    b. Call the same support number...
Is Verizon really serious in this day and age with what I have been just told???? No ETA.. No status etc....
Frankly speaking... I am a unhappy camper due to such a response!

    Tonya,
Thanks for follow-up. I did receive a call after 14 hours of outage that  my problem may have been fixed. However as you can see it does not enable an individual to plan ahead of time and thus my suggestion to Verizon is to
    a. Proactively inform impacted customers that Verizon detected an outage and is currently working on its resolution. This will help Verizon in reducing the number of calls to their support center and help customers by their not having to waste time and wait for 45 minutes as I did.
    b. Provide an ETA as to when the issue is expected to be fixed. I understand that it may not always be possible to estimate this accurately but, a ballpark would work as well, as it will at least allow people to plan ahead of time.
    Thanks!
How do you propose that they inform customers? If the internet service is out, a website or an email would be ineffective for most since they couldn't access it. I certainly don't want a phone call at noon telling me that my internet isn't working (I work nights), and I'm sure you wouldn't want one at 3 AM. Snail mail would take so long to arrive that the outage would most likely be over before it was received.
I'm not saying they shouldn't have an easy way for customers to find out when there's an outage, but the logistics of a proactive notification are a nightmare.

  • Another case of intermittent internet outages

For approximately the past 2 months, we have been experiencing periodic outages of our internet connectivity lasting minutes to hours.  Based on ongoing logging of ping times to www22.verizon.com, these episodes last for minutes to hours and are frequently preceded by periods of increasing network latency.  These episodes only affect the connection to the internet whereas connections within the house (between computers/devices/printers) remain completely functional with no latency. This is also NOT a WiFi problem as the connectivity to the internet affects computers connected via ethernet and WiFi the same.
Turning the Actiontec off and back on restored internet connectivity some of the time.
More recently, I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the coax from the ONT to the Actiontec and that reliably restores internet connectivity.
At no point have either the ONT or router shown an error condition (all lights are green).
There has been nothing in the Actiontec logs that suggested an error on the part of the router.
We have about 16 devices on the network and all of those that access the internet are affected the same (Mac laptops, Windows laptop, Mac desktop, Linux-based HTPC, 2 phones, iPad, iPod, Wii, TV, Blu-Ray.)
As I mentioned, we have been monitoring the connection using Cacti (www.cacti.net) to characterize the outages and they occur as described (usually increased latency followed by an outage). Based on these logs, the episodes only occur when we are actively using the network - i.e., not in the middle of the night or middle of the day on week days when no one is at home.
We have contacted Verizon about 8 times regarding this problem without resolution.  This has included 3 separate visits by technicians to the house.  Here is what has been tried so far:
Reset of the router to system defaults - no help.
Use of alternative DNS servers on the router - no help.
Replacement of the router with a new model (MI424-WR rev. F, original was rev. C) - no help.
At the second visit by a Verizon technician, the ONT and its power supply were replaced - no help.
Also at the second visit, the technician contacted Tier 2 support and the voice on the phone mentioned that he could see errors on some piece of Verizon hardware and that he would "monitor" the connection but this did not solve the problem.  Verizon makes it very hard, if not impossible, to contact Tier 2 support by calling Tier 1 support so we had no way to follow up with Tier 2 to let them know that nothing was resolved - no help.
The third technician visit was supposed to include a "supervisor" (but did not) and resulted in no new ideas - no help.
In an effort to avoid a conversion back to Comcast (after ~5 years of otherwise great service with FiOS), I purchased a new Netgear router and set up the Actiontec as a bridge (http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r17679150-Howto-make-ActionTec-MI424WR-a-network-bridge) - no help.
After all of this, I am convinced that the problem lies somewhere with Verizon but don't know how to get them to do a more thorough evaluation.  I base this on the fact that we never lose connectivity within the house and that even configuring the Actiontec as a bridge did not have any effect.
This problem (or one like it) has been described several times in these forums (search "intermittent" under FiOS Internet) and only some of those have been resolved.  Of those that have been resolved, none apply as we have tried all of the things that worked for them.
I do not relish the thought of having to make the conversion back to Comcast so I am hopeful there may be some wisdom in this group about how to diagnose and resolve this.
    Thank you for your time.

When there is no connectivity, the trace stops at the router or we are unable to resolve the host name.

Thansk fro the link but all you did was provide me the live chat support link, which I have already done. I have already contacted Verizon and they have replaced the Router and tomorrow they come to troubleshoot the ONT, but I dont believe the problem lies within my house, as I think the problem exists on the FIOS network outsike my home.
Please assist in getting my case escalated with FIOS support.

  • How can I find out info on a possible mobile internet outage?

I have a verizon MIFI 2200 mobile internet device. I have had internet connection issues with it since yesterday (Sunday afternoon).  Desktop computer, IPOD touch, & my laptop all show that they are connected to the mifi.  Internet signal strength is good, shows at least 3 bars.  But we cannot connect to the internet, the page will not load.  Called tech support yesterday.  They ran all basic diagnostics on my laptop settings, and no problems were found.  One support guy said that he saw "tickets" on outage issues, but he could not see where those issues were.
After 2 hrs on the phone with tech support and finding no solution, we went to the Verizon store.  We decided to go ahead & upgrade to a jetpack mobile device since our unit is 2 yrs old.  While the sales lady was setting up our new unit, she also had the same connection problem.  We also heard other customers in the background with the similar issue.  I can't find out any other info on this.  Nobody seems to know that there is an outage problem, BUT THERE IS AN OUTAGE PROBLEM!  Can someone please help me?  All I want to know is, "Is there an outage problem with Mobile internet/over the air (satellite) in the middle Tenneessee area & when will it be fixed?"

Yes, there is an issue.  Like you, I've had issues and finally (after 2 tries) got through (after a ridiculous wait time) to tech support.  They said that there is a mobile data outage resulting from the storms this past weekend.
As typical, Verizon has balked at being more proactive and providing outage notifications but instead would prefer to frustrate customers by forcing them to call in, consuming ridiculous amounts of support representative time, and further lowering customer satisfaction.
Verizon remains a "bi-polar" organization, with some great technology (albeit also with some very poor stuff as well such as the infamous 4150L) but with some of the absolute worst customer service that has ever existed on this planet.

  • Internet outage in southwest michigan

We have had some weather issues here and we have not had internet for over a day.  Is there an outage?

Find out who your provider is, as I believe all of Michigan was in fact sold to Frontier back in the summer. Speedtest.net's GeoIP provider probably hasn't updated their database yet to reflect the changes, or Frontier hasn't moved you over to their network entirely if that's the case. Try a WHOIS at http://whois.arin.net on your IP address and see if it says "Frontier Communications of America" as the owner, which you can get at http://www.whatismyip.com/ . Please make sure that you do not post up that IP address. This will be doable if your connection is working.
Otherwise, can you describe to us what exactly the modem is doing? Is the DSL light flashing? Is the DSL light solid and the Internet light red/out, or is the Internet light Green but you cannot transfer anything?

  • Internet outages in Gaithersburg, MD

Internet has been down since Sunday morning (7/17).  On the phone troubleshooting for 90 minutes on Sunday, 30 minutes yesterday, now they confirm some type of outage.
    Anyone else having problems?

If your phone service is completely down but the DSL is remaining online but at a slow rate, it's possible one of the two wire pairs somewhere along the line might have broken. DSL can operate on one wire, however it's distance is severely reduced due to the second cable being broken, which increases the amount of electrical interference that the line regularly receives. Normally that interference doesn't bother DSL, but a wire pair that is out of service will take DSL service out no matter how long the fault is. I've seen DSL circuits fail to sync up with only 30 feet of a single wire running by a flourescent light. It took connecting the second wire to completely eliminate that interference to allow the modem to sync.
Have you check to verify that your phone services works out at the NID, or no? If it is down at the NID when you connect a wired phone to the test jack, complain to Voice Repair since service outages if it's due to bad wiring should be corrected as soon as possible (meaning no more than 24-48 hours). If it works fine outside, you have an issue inside.

  • Internet Outages with DSL Service

    Hello,
Below is my experience over the past month with Verizon and my DSL problems.  If anyone has any ideas on the next path I can take it would be appreciated.
Around mid-May started having problem of internet light going out and being unable to connect to the internet.
May 22nd – A technician, {edited for privacy} came out and tested all connections and wiring to the house.  The light was on during his tests.  Gave the signal an A grade and said things looked great.  He said to try and connect with him when the light went out so he or the right team could run some tests.  We were never able to connect and the following week he was in training for 3 weeks so he advised me to call his supervisor {edited for privacy}.
June 8th - In the meantime scheduled a second service call since the problem was not resolved.  A technician, {edited for privacy}, came to the house.  I informed him of everything to date and he spent about 30 minute at the central box running tests.  He confirmed that he could see a problem in the network / wiring coming from the main office and that the signal was spotty and cutting out.  He said he could not fix it, but that we would pass the information on to the right team and they would be in the field in a day or two to get it resolved.  He also said {edited for privacy} would be the person to speak with if it was not fixed.
June 9th – Received a recorded message that it was fixed, but the issue was still occurring.
June 13th – Was able to contact {edited for privacy} who reviewed the information and that that he would get his “slick” team out on it in the next day or two and that should resolve the problem.  He said he would follow up once there was a plan or resolution but to date have never received a call.
June 15th – June 23rd – Was out of town on vacation.
June 24th – The internet light cut out again.
June 25th – Called Verizon support to request a new modem to see if that was the issue.  In reviewing the case and discussing with the technical team they could confirm that the issue was not resolved and there was a problem in the network.  They said that the issue would be escalated to the network team and would be resolved in 24 to 48 hours. This was the third or fourth time we received the same canned answer to date.

We have not heard a response back on the private support board we have been working with you on. Should you need additional help please create a new post for us to help.

  • Internet outage - no wan coax light

Lost power over a week ago, when power came back tv service was restored, however no internet connection. Technical support sent me new router, same thing no internet. I rebooted the system by unplugging everything and disconnecting backup battery. Finally, Internet. Fast forward a few days, no internet. Router does not recognize coax cable. All TVs work, if I substitute coax cables nothing. If unplug directly into wireless still nothing. Call verizon again, they send another router. Still does not recognize coax. I have rebooted everything several times. Please help!

  • Internet outage PRINCETON nj?

My phone and tv work but no internet. Is this Verizon's problem or my local one? I reset the router. We are on generator power at the moment.

The ONT or "Optical Network Terminal" is basically the big (or small) Verizon box that acts as a bridge between the Fiber connection coming in from Verizon, to a CAT5e or Coaxial connection used for Internet, Phone, and TV Service. It's the same large box that the Battery backup unit plugs into since that unit supplies power to the ONT.

  • Internet outage at 3:30 PM

I don't appreciate that there was a 3G outage in my area (48073) at around 3:30 PM today. I pay over $80 every month for the use of this phone and modem and need them available at a moment's notice. The paying public simply should not be expected to put up with outages and problems.
    Thank you.

Can you name for me any service (free or paid) that gaurentees 100% uptime?  It's simply not possible, there are way too many factors involved.
You can rest assured that is not Verizon's goal to deny anyone access to their services.  Outages happen, if you absolutely must have 100% uptime on your communication methods, you're going to want to invest in some kind of reliable back-up service for the times when one of your providers fails you.
