Welcome to the Spry framework for Ajax forum! Please use this
forum to discuss the Spry framework for Ajax and supporting content
    on Adobe Labs.

    Hi,
Techy_one: the download page should be working:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=labs_spry
anuj: SpryEffects is in 'demo/includes'. We will be including
effects in our next Spry drop.
Severe: We are working on more widgets. They will be released
over time as we finish them. We are still looking into how we can
make Spry support for DW available.
    Thanks,

  • Spry framework for ajax  - video example Aquo

I have a problem displaying the xml code which has H1, H2
hard coded. How do i display this without the H1, H2.
If i swap this code for
    <script src="../SpryAssets/SpryData.js"
    type="text/javascript"></script>
    for
    <script src="../js/SpryData.js"
type="text/javascript"></script> it works but the repeat
    region then stops working???
    Any ideas

Don know a LOT better than me... but I think that when you
insert a spry table in a master region, it has a checkbox option
that asks if you want it to update a detail region when clicked. If
you check that, whatever data you put in that table will update the
detail region using the same dataset.
If you do that, you can probably look at the code for the
data in the table and see what he is talking about. The spry table
creates it automatically, but you can also hand code links that
update data regions too, which is what he is saying.
Did I get that right Don? ;)

  • Spry Framework for Ajax does not work on google chrome

I downloaded this beautiful gallery to use it on my site    http://adobe.github.com/Spry/demos/gallery/index.html
Everything ok on InternetExplorer and Firefox but it does not work on Google Chrome.
Can you help me to solve this problem?

sorry but this forum is for questions about JavaScript inside Acrobat and not general language frameworks. We don't have a discussion topic for Spry.

  • Spry framework for Ajax

Display " You are not authorized to view this page " when I
can see index.html on demos folder, but when I see the html out the
    server work very well.

Are you using IE 7? If so, I think it has to do with the fact
that by default, IE 7 runs with a set of different permissions than
IE 6 did. I believe the Local Zone is locked down which is why you
can't load the index.html file off your disk, but you can off the
    server.
We still need to set aside some time to figure out what the
correct IE 7 settings are for folks that want to load files off
    their local disk.

  • Discontinue the Spry Framework

    In response to http://blogs.adobe.com/dreamweaver/2012/08/update-on-adobe-spry-framework-availability.htm l#comment-1826
I must express my DEEPEST DISAPPOINTMENT with Adobe for such a dis heartening move to discontiue this framework.
I have been using Adobe Spry Framework from inception and found the capabilities of at least the DataSet Object frameworks to be the most easiet, fast, effective implementation of frameworks when it comes to dealing with data/ external data display and manipulation EVER. It has been the goto framework for almost ALL of my data driven web applications and has proven to me to be BY FAR a superior advantage over using any MVC or another Ajax based framework that I have encountered.
To learn of its discontinuation after years of hope and promise of futher development of the framework with such a huge potential is really heart wrenching. I do hope that someone else will take up the regins to which Adobe has so cowardly let go of and continue to progress this framework into a new aged design specimen that it should be.
I personally though lacking in the extensive knowledge of the frameworks inner workings and expreience in javascript or framework development for that matter...will be one to TRY to develop it as much as I can. But will lend ANY SUPPORT that I can as limited only by my knowledge and experience to futher the success of this framework to any lengths to make it as great as it has always been and could be.
    Sincerest Ice.

  • Do I need to download the Spry Framework?

I do have Dreamweaver CS4 and it includes the latest Spry ( Spry v1.6).  Do I need to download the Spry Framework?  Or is everything I need pre installed with DW CS4  ?  I watched a Lynda.com video where the instructor downloaded Spry.  Will the Spry functions work through DW even if I do not download the actual Spry Framework?  Or does the download just give me expanded features?
    Thanks Jim K

    Hi
The spry framework is built into cs4, and you do not need to download it.
    PZ
Some parts of Spry are build in to CS4. Not all functionality is included in DW. For example, the Spry Rating, autoSuggest, slidingpanels are not in DW and can only be found in the full Spry download.
Also other data formats like JSON, nested JSON, nested XML, tsv and csv support is not build in. And last but not least there are allot of Spry utitlies not build in to Dreamweaver. Its save to say that 50% of Spry has been integrated in to DW. The rest of the more advanced functionality can only be found the complete download.

  • Is Flex the right framework for an online dictionary?

    Hello,
We are analyzing if Flex is the right framework for our web
application (online dictionary). We are almost convinced but
    we want to
have your advices on these particular points :
    This is what we need...
    - Essentially, we must display very complex and structured
    texts.
    - The text is organized in paragraphs.
    - Each paragraph is composed of many group of words.
    - Each group of words can use a specific font, color, size
    and style.
    - Some group of words must use small caps style.
    - Ideally, the style would be in CSS file.
    - We must use unicode characters. (&#x220E;,
    &#x25CF;, &#x25B7;, etc.)
    - We must use fine-space, non breaking space, non breaking
    hyphen, etc.
    - Some group of words must be a link or able to trigger
    events.
    - Some group of words must have tooltip.
Do you think it's possible to do that with Flex or we are
    better
    to stay in HTML.
    Thanks for your advices.

Wanted to pass this along to Swing Developers.
    http://www.ajaximpact.com/detail_news.php?id=113
JWAX is a event driven component framework modeled after Swing, SWT and other component based systems for AJAX development. It can be leveraged from client side AJAX or dynamic UI systems for development. JWAX has Object Oriented Architecture.
It utilizes a render kit model for client code generation and provides a set of common base UI components with plans to support complex components in the future.
    JWAX Features
    - Object Oriented Architecture
    - Event Delegation Model
    - Component Inheritance and Aggregation Support
    - Cross Browser Compatibility w/ RenderKits
    - Aspect Oriented Rendering of Components
    JWAX architecture
JWAX architecture is a component framework much like Swing, SWT, etc. It leverages an event delegation model to trigger and listen for component events. The underlying component model is rendered based on the client output type. So it's easy to customize the component view to a browser, technology or look and feel based on the renderkit chosen.

  • 9iLite and the compact framework for PPC

Does oracle plan to support development for Pocket PC under the compact framework ie. using MS Visual Studio.net. If so, how soon can we except an oracle data adapter for the pocket pc.

If your application is complex you'll undoubtedly have
to extend whichever framework you choose. Struts is
very flexible and allows you to incorporate custom
functionality easily. As it was pointed out, Struts works only with the web tier. If you're writing complex apps, you'll need a more 'complete' framework to manage your middle-tier as well.
If you're not using EJB, lightweight containers like Spring or Pico can help.
BTW, you can use Spring with Struts if you wish. Personally, I'm less than impressed by Struts, but that's just my opinion.

  • Want to use the Entity Framework for Oracle

Currently our web applications are installed on Windows 2003 Server, IIS 6.0. Yes, this seems like the dark ages...years behind. They have an older version of the Oracle Client on the machine (11.0.1). This version does not support Oracle.DataAccess 4.x. .NET Framework 4.0 is installed on the Windows 2003 server. This version also does not support the Entity Framework.
However, my development environment does not have any Oracle Client installed. I am just using the latest version of ODAC/ODP.NET with Visual Studio 2010. I am able to create apps locally with the Entity Framework but unfortunately cannot get them to work on the server because there of the older Oracle Client on that machine. Also there are approx. 50 applications on that server that are accessing this old version of OracleDataAccess 2.116.0 with references hard coded in the web.config. What's the best practice for dealing with legacy applications that are accessing older versions of Oracle?
In short, what do I need to do in order to upgrade to the version of Oracle that will support the Entity Framework while still supporting legacy apps? Do I go for an Oracle Client upgrade or I just merely get the latest version of ODAC/ODP.NET installed on that server?
    Thanks!

What I would probably like to do is somehow set the dll directory to my local bin directory and just put all the .dlls for the most recent ODP.NET in my app and leave the existing applications as they are until I can migrate them.
I've seen examples of this but doesn't seem to work for me.You can do that by having both Oracle clients installed, and using the DLLPath configuration option to force the applications to use the one you want.
That said, the next version of the managed client is going to support working in Entity Framework, and that is just an assembly you can include in the project with no Oracle installation at all. So really, the best answer is going to be to use that once they release it.
(Also - most of the time something compiled for Oracle 11.x will work in 11.2.0.3 without doing anything. The 11.2.0.3 installer adds binding redirects to itself from older versions, provided you were loading from the GAC.)

  • Is the Spry Framework still under development by Adobe?

I'm in a position where I have to skinny down the number of JS libraries we employ at work. I'm personally a fan of Spry and would prefer to keep it around as it has some unique and valuable characteristics. But, I'm sure my boss is going to ask if this particular library is still being maintained and developed and by who. So, I'm looking for an answer to that question so that I can justify keeping it.

Thank you, Ben. This was the information that I needed.

  • Help!  Does anyone know the best framework for delivering an enterprise-quality Flex-based reporting system?

    Background
We need to build a commercial-quality, Flex-based reporting system for the corporate customers who use our English learning system.  Ours is a multi-tenant web-based Saas solution.
    he solution must include:
    >  a slick, professional design, including Flex/Flash UI and charting and graphing
    >  a full suite of serverside functionality such as report management, scheduling, export and delivery
    >  strong security in a multi-tenant environment
    >  can be integrated seamlessly with our existing Flex/.NET application
    >  data sources are MS SQL Server database and/or OLAP cubes
    >  scalability/performance to serve tens of thousands of users
    >  no per-user license fees (we need to own this system)
The initial focus is on "canned" reports with some parameter controls, while future releases will include more freeform report designer/builder capabilities.
Do you know of a good example/approach?  Please reply here, or to [email protected]
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello,
The recommended way is with JCA Connector.
Adaptive RFC is included from NW7.1,
See "Creating an Adaptive RFC2 Sample Application without using Web Dynpro"
in the SAP HELP of NWCE7.1 or NWCE7.2.
Seems to be based in JCo 3.0 and Java5 so it will not work in NW70.
For older Versions like EP 5 there is also a JCo ClientService available.
    Regards
    Johannes

  • How can I insert an existing ApDiv into a tab in the Spry Tabbed Panel?

I have 5 of them all containing nested Apdiv within nested ApDivs (a long storie ) that I would like to insert into 5 tabs in the Spry Tabbed Panel.
    Please help.

I also realize now that taking on this project may have been a mistake :-)I taught myself how to use the design side of Dream Weaver. These five ApDivs were created in the content area of the spry tool and it worked fine. (yes a lot of work though)For the first time I looked at the code side. I wanted to try to bring a peace of code from another page for something unrelated and when it didn't work I took it out and without noticing, deleting a line from the Spry tool.Of course like a classic newbe I was working without a backup copy so here I am. Loosing hours of tedious work and on the verve of tears :-)I do have some  questions though.  My APDiv
