Invalid Serial Number when using Customization Wizard to install Acrobat 8

Hello. I'm trying to install Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional using the Customization Wizard to create a transform. The serial number is for the volume license product, and I put this number in the space provided in the Wizard. Whenever I remotely deploy the msi file and the user opens the program, I get the following error: "You have entered an invalid serial number. Please reinstall Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional and enter in a valid serial number when asked." The program then closes. This does not happen when I install from the CD.
Each of the workstations is a Gateway E-4500S running Windows XP SP2. Adobe Acrobat 7 Professional is uninstalled prior to installation of Acrobat 8, and Acrobat 8 exists alongside Adobe Reader 8.1.1. No other Adobe products are installed apart from Flash Player.
The following are the contents of the setup.ini file:

I've tried editing the setup.ini file to indicate the full path to the mst file, to no avail. Pretty much at the end of my rope right now. Any suggestions? I'll be happy to provide further information.

Correct. The CD installation goes without a hitch. I'm using Attachmate WinInstall to try to deploy the software remotely. It worked fine for Adobe Reader 8.1.1, but it's been a bear for Acrobat 8. I'd be okay with a straight CD installation if it didn't involve fifty machines.

Fellow users can help you understand the problem (likely that you've used up your 2 available activations), but you'll need to call Adobe Customer Support to resolve the issue.

Invalid serial number for Elements 9 worked fine before

I Had to change a bad hard drive. Before that my Photoshop Elements 9 worked fine. Now I get a message the number is invalid. I paid for it with a new Dell computer and Adobe won't help. These keep passing me to Dell even though it is their serial number on their yellow sticker and Dell acquired it legitimately.

TThey passed the buck back and forth I would think Adobe would be responsible since it was their number affixed on their sticker. Either way they should have shown good will. I sent them scans of the sleeve, order form from Dell, and email saying it shipped. I did not have a 2.5 year old receipt but it should have been obvious after my first couple hours of "patience" that I wasn't full of crap.

I've tried to install a downloaded version of cs5 master collection using the same serial number i used by installing it with the installation dvds and the error message says it's an invalid serial number

as my adobe cs 5 master collections keeps having icc profiles and visualization issues, i've tried to reinstall the hole package. my mac book pro dvd reader is broken, so i downloaded from the adobe website a master collection and tried to install it with the serial number i used in the former installation but a error messages says that it's an invalid serial number.
i've already tried to install from the dvd's in another mac and it worked, with the same serial number, so i'm out of solutions.
any thoughts that may help me?

Respecto a la instalación, repito la lección de ruta es un paso, que puede pasarse por alto, aunque no sé si la instalación convencional reconoce una red entre varios equipos.
No hay ningun mensaje que indique que descargas una versión u otra, tampoco hay o sale ningun mensaje cuando instalas un programa en chino, eso si, al introducir el no. de serie (que no es el adquirido para la versión en chino) te dice que no es válido y punto. No más explicaciones.
Asi que por favor explicanos lo preguntado al rincipio, o vuleve a descargar la versión correcta, en el idioma correcto y desde un lugar oficial de Adobe.
Creo que Adobe te puede facilitar esa descarga a traves de la web "Licensing" con unas claves que te facilitarán si logras ponerte en contacto directo con ellos en tu país, (que tampoco sabemos cúal es). Suerte.

There are no upgrade paths from CS2.
If you purchased used software you're pretty much on your own. Much of what is sold on places like eBay or Craigs List doesn't have valid licenses. Caveat emptor.

Invalid serial number using Acrobat 8 CD

I am trying to install Acrobat 8 on a workstation I swapped out. Acrobat 8 was on the "old" workstation. I deactivated it from the help menu and Acrobat 8 reported that the license had been successfully released. Then I installed Acrobat 8 on the new workstation. I get an error message saying invalid serial number. I know I am using the right serial number. I think the problem is that I am using a different CD than the one that was originally used and I am guessing the serial number is somehow coded on the installation CD, so that it is the invalid serial number for that particular CD. However I have no idea where the first CD is anymore as other people use it besides me. Presumably I should be able to install Acrobat 8 from any media (I hope) as long as I have a valid and legal serial number. Is there any way to get past that error message for my situation?

There may well be many different installer CDs, depending upon if the Acrobat is an upgrade from a previous version, a new full version installer, or even one that came with another suite. You need to find the correct disk for the serial number you have. If you cannot find one, perhaps Adobe Customer Service can help you. Needless to say your company should not be playing fast and loose with installation disks that are worth big money.

Reinstalling FCP7 in my new Macbook Pro Retina Display. I have my serial numbers back to FCP1. But it tells me that I have an invalid serial number. Why?

Reinstalling FCP in new Macbook Pro Retina from time machine backup. Have all serial numbers back to FCP1 but I am warned I have an invalid serial number. How can that be! I need to install and use this weekend.

When I restored my new computer from the time machine, the software was transfer to the new machine, in the past when double clicking the icon it would come up and ask for the serial numbers. This time was the same with the exception of:
I did not enter an invalid serial number, I tried all the numbers I have. But none of them worked.
I will try to install from discs.

Photoshop CS2- Invalid Serial Number

I am installing my Adobe Photoshop CS2 on Windows Vista.
When I try to install the program after entering my serial number that is on the CD case,
the program states "Invalid Serial Number."
Customer Service gave me new serial numbers to attempt at fixing this issue and those numbers still yielded an "Invalid Serial Number" error.
Tech Support had me create new accounts with admin rights on my laptop (which didn't work) and then gave me a link
about the issue that had nothing to do with me since I have no VCOM software on my laptop (so that too was bogus).
I requested to speak to a manager where the agent diverted with giving me solutions that did not work also in which
he had me use this registry cleaner software and it still didn't work (I didn't have previous adobe software on my computer,
so it wasn't a surprise that it didn't work)
So... Does anyone know how I can install my program on my laptop without getting an Invalid Serial Number error?????

I've only had similar happen once, when I upgraded AI over about 3-4 versions. My S/N was from the first PC release, and the internal database in the upgrade did not recognize the format, or the S/N. In that case, a 5 min. call to C/S resulted in a number to enter from Adobe, and then it took my S/N fine.
Obviously, you've gone that route, and it's not working. Seems that things have changed with C/S, but I am talking over a decade ago. Are you talking to C/S (Customer Service), or T/S (Technical Service)? For "sales" related things, I have found that C/S is the better. I am assuming that they are still separate departments, though both might well be in India.
Now, one question, you say that C/S told you to run on one machine with "administrative rights." Did you try as an Administrator? These are similar, but there can be differences.
Wish I had something else to offer.

Acrobat 9 Professional - Invalid Serial Number

All, having issues with installing Acrobat 9 Professional on a Windows 7 Enterprise workstation thats going to be used as a baseline build. Downloaded my software from the my Adobe account from licensing.adobe.com, and my license info as well. The software can be installed on an XP machine just fine. With this Windows 7 build I'm working on, I get the "Invalid Serial Number" error. I believe previously there were older versions of Acrobat on this build but I removed them all and cleaned up the registry as well. Could there be something that I'm missing that Acrobat 9 is seeing to bring this error? I was able to install our copy of Acrobat 8 Pro just fine. Other pieces, this machine is not on the network yet, and my copy of Win7 hasn't been activated yet (because of it not being on the network). What else can I check for? It must be seeing something on the machine for it to be popping up with this error. Somebody told me, if a previously licensed Acrobat copy was installed, it could show this message, but I don't see a trace of any file or in the registry. Help!!!

Just to add. This is a volume license of Acrobat 9 Pro. Not part of a CS bundle or anything like that. No other Adobe software installed except for Flash Player.

I have a DVD set Adobe creative Suite 5 design standard which consist with 2 DVD for Design Standard and one (1) DVD for Adobe Acrobat 9 PRO (all Windows version)
I was try to install all DVD's on my win8.1 machine, but I coudn't install Acrobat 9 PRO.
When I was write down serial number which I found on Adobe Certifikate printed from "Obtain License Certificates" site

I have checked the serial number you have provided and it looks like a Volume Serial number to me. There are mainly two reasons why this error might pop up :
1) You are using the installer for a Retail product and using the volume serial number as that combination do not work.
2) You have a stand alone installer for Acrobat and not a suite installer.
I would request you to kindly navigate back to the licensing website and go to Licenses>Downloads and search for the download link for the Creative Suite 5 and then download Acrobat again. This should resolve the concern that you have.

Adobe Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 11: invalid serial number on the number for Premiere???

During the install, the Elements 11 portion accepted the serial on the box just fine and installed, but the Premiere serial number was rejected as "invalid"???

I suspect that you are not going to get any support from Adobe on this since you are not using the latest version which is Premiere Elements 13.

If you get sent back to "Ask the Community", that is us (user to user), please give more details and we will try to figure out the
cause of the situation.
My first question would be "If the installation is accepting the serial number, where are you when you get the message about the Invalid Serial Number?
Without going into specifics and do not post serial numbers, did you purchase the product from Adobe direct or an authorized retailer or a private seller?
Are you working with a regular version or one of those Student Teacher versions? On what computer operating system are you trying to run Premiere Elements 13?

Im confused. I bought CS5 extended from a seller on Ebay, when I tried to use it, the box came up "invalid serial number". I can do a "trial for 30 days", but apparently thats it. The box was sealed from Adobe, has the genuine Adobe sticker, its all legitimate.
The online chat was useless with "Umesh". He never answered how or why this happened, kept skirting the issue telling me to get a "valid receipt" from the seller. Shouldnt an unused, unopened, never activated product work? Its going to be a real hassle going through ebays buyer protection since Ive opened the box now. Adobe can just "invalidate" any product they wish anytime?

Unfortunately, that usually bodes badly for the ability to Activate your software.
While I feel that there might be a very few legit copies of Adobe programs on eBay, the vast majority seem to be bogus - pirated - hacked, or just an excuse to get one's credit card info for later use, or resale on the black market.
The box was sealed from Adobe, has the genuine Adobe sticker, its all legitimate.
There is a lot of bogus packaging out there, and some years ago, even certified Adobe resellers were blind-sided by pirated copies, that looked perfect, from China.
Contact the seller and demand either a refund, or a working S/N.
Good luck, and hope that you DID buy a legit copy, and that the seller CAN provide you with a working S/N.
