I have a HP G60-447CL with a bad inverter board. The inverter board as the follwoing inforation on it.
19.21072.081
W15-A LFk
These 2 words are on a white sticker on the board.
Then there is YNV-W15 on the pcboard in white letters.
I need a new inverter board and I would like to make sure I gert the correct board.
Can anyone help me out with the correct board and where I may get one?

Excellent! Thanks for pointing that out to me. Unfortunately, I replaced it and it did not fix my backlight issue! Do you think you could give me your opinion on what the best possible fix is. The LCD is in fact on and displaying the image, but is dim. I tried all of the simple tricks in the book if you know what I mean, but which do you think is most likely the issue:
1) The LCD itself
2) The backlight bulb
3) Inverter cable attached to display
4) Something on the Logic Board
Thank you for your time and wisdom. If you do chose one of those, explain what you would do as best as possible. It may be something else, but it is doubtful. I mean I could replace the entire display and it is fix (takes care of 1-3). If that does do anything, then we know it is 4.

Disassembled my Ti 1ghz/867mhz (w/DVI) and there's no inverter board? What?

Hello fellow travelers. My ten-year old son and I just finished disassembling my Powerbook G4. It's an odd model. It's got DVI. It's got GB ethernet. It's 1Ghz. It's got the vents of one model and the DVI of another. It's neither Mercury, nor Onyx, nor DVI. What the bleep is it?
It had all the symptoms of a bad inverter board. I'm a pretty good trouble-shooter. So, I ordered a board for the DVI model. Heck. It's got DVI. Just finished taken the entire thing apart as per ifix it (http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Mac/). Guess what?
I see no inverter board.
Is there a model G4 Powerbook that doesn't have an inverter board? If so, then what the heck explains the "bad inverter board-like" symptoms such is "monitor image viewable with a flashlight from behind the apple," and "intermittent monitor working (mostly not working)" and "runs an external monitor?" not to mention the fact that I believe AppleCare replaced an inverter board (or so I thought) a few years ago.
Are there G4 Ti 15" models that don't have inverter boards?
Has an alien descended and removed mine? Am I losing my mind?

If poltergeists were the problem, you'd find rocks and smashed ashtrays and potted plants strewn around inside your Powerbook, along with tiny video cameras planted there by parapsychologists. That's not the issue.
These are two-dimensional aliens. They turn sideways when they see the camera; that's why you can't capture them on video. It also makes it very easy for them to slide in and out of the Powerbook through the vast empty spaces inside the Titanium atoms - not to mention the added efficiency of space travel without burdensome extra dimensions to scrape against all the ones they have to pass through to get here. Instead of thinking of them as a problem, consider what a lot of trouble they've taken to cross the universe just to inhabit your Powerbook, and try to make their visit more comfortable. You are an ambassador, or at least a deputy assistant chargé d'affaires, for all of humanity. Step up to your responsibilities!
Because the hard drive in a Tibook is so easy to get at, I suggest removing yours (with its flex cable)from the machine and then seeing whether booting from your external drive and/or optical drive goes any more smoothly. If there's no change, put the HD back in and remove the optical drive, then test again. I don't recall whether we've heard that a problematical CD/DVD drive can interfere with startup from another source, but it's definitely possible for a wonky hard drive to interfere with booting from other sources. Lastly, remove both drives and see whether you can then boot consistently from the external drive. If not, and if you're confident of the FireWire cable you're using and the external drive itself, then I'm afraid you've come down to the logic board and the aliens. They may just find that board really homey, so if you replace it, please keep it in a warm, dry place and address a cheery greeting to its occupants each time you pass by.

Replacing Alum. G4 15" Inverter Board

The backlight on my G4 Aluminum 15" is malfunctioning again. I got the inverter board replaced on warranty about a year ago, but now it's the same problem and my warranty is up. I'm fairly certain it's the inverter board, as external displays still work, and if I shine I bright light on to the screen I can see what's going on. Also, if I change display resolution the screen will sometimes briefly come on (albeit flickering).
I'm considering ordering the inverter board from something like Powerbook Medic and trying to replace it myself, but I am worried about how difficult this will be. Has anyone pulled this off? I have experience working with the insides of PCs, but I don't know how to solder (is that even the right word?) and I know very little about electronics.
Any info / advice on this would be greatly appreciate.

Reed switch versus Inverter board

I need help....
My display has quit working and the screen is black. I've read so much about this my brain is shorting out and now i need clarification.
Here's what i've done:
Took it to apple store - they denied my request to get it fixed even though im still under warrenty. They said they found liquid residue and declared it my fault - Tier 3 repair - +700$
They wouldn't identify the issue because it's my fault - meaning they wont put time into finding the cause becasue its not covered by warranty - meaning i have to pay to find the cause!
So, I've read the forums etc and determined its the inverter board because:
--I can use an external monitor perfectly
--There is no sleep function disorder - even when using an external monitor i can close the ibook and it sleeps ( ext. monitor turns off) and when re-opened,it turns back on without any issue.
So, i ordered a new inverter board - replaced it in 15 minutes (quite easy to do) by taking off the back panel of the display. Turned it back on and NOTHING!
Now, the inverter board i ordered was ONLY the board, no new cables. I have a feeling that the cables are pinched, worn and thats the issue.
I need answers for the following questions:
Could it be the Reed switch?
Do the inverter board cables only come with the reed switch?
Would an external monitor work perfectly if the reed switch was busted?
Do i need to take apart the entire body of the laptop to replace inverter board cables?
Any links to HOw-to's would be great.

Why is it that PC's mostly have software issues and Macs mostly have hardware issues? Cant they form like Voltron and give the consumers what they paid for??

the cost was about sixty dollars plus parts; and while the computer was
open in their shop, other updates could be done for just the cost of parts.
Since their site has contact information; they reply to phone, email or slow
mail, it is best to ask questions direct and see what kinds of expense may
be involved in an out-of-warranty (but authorized-level of quality) repair. As
the company also has most if not all parts for many portable Macintosh
computers in stock and knowledge to repair them, they are a good bet.
Your iBook, if a 14" and running 1.33GHz processor, is next to last version
of that model, as the last model was 1.42GHz; while the 12" was 1.33GHz.
Mine is a mid-2005 model, and of the last ones made; bought direct online.
It still has AppleCare, but is not really seeing a lot of use due to weather
and lack of proximity to much indoor environment, away from my desktop.
Submitting a computer through the US Mail can be a safe bet, as an alter-
native to FedEx or UPS, etc; if that is what works best. Did for me, since
my mailbox is inside a warm post office. The delivery services have been
known to leave parcels outdoors in foul weather; or in their trucks undeliver-
ed for a week after they should have been received. I've gotten broken Macs
through FedEx. An iBook is fairly easy to make a padded container for, to
send it in; and then slide the whole thing into a 'flat-rate priority box' that you
can get ahead of time from the Post Office. Don't expect to see the box
when your iBook gets returned; I made a nice box, but didn't get it back.
Good luck in however you have to deal with your poor iBook's situation!

DC-inverter board

15" PB with a bad DC-inverter board that was diagnosed on 10/30. Just informed by my good friends at Apple that the part is unavailable and the best guess is a month from now but could very likely be longer. Unit is still under original warranty. Is this typical? Do I have any recourse other than to shell out cash for a replacement computer?
Very disappointed in Apple Customer Care.

If you read the warranty, you'll see that Apple doesn't guarantee uninterupted use (for example, what happens with delays due to lack of repair parts).
However, asides from repairing your system under the warranty, Apple, at their option, can also "2) exchange the product with a product that is new or which has been manufactured from new or serviceable used parts and is at least functionally equivalent to the original product, or (3) refund the purchase price of the product." If the delay is intolerable to you, ask Apple to either replace your system with an equivalent current system or refund the purchase price. You'll probably need to talk to Apple customer service, not the techies, to exercise one of these options.

Inverter Board? Help please!!

I purchased my imac g5 11 months ago... runing panther. I have been having problems with the display. It gets blurry, crazy blocks on the screen... I ran techtool and I failed the Vram portion. It instructed me to restart. After restarting, I ran the techtool again, it was fine, until the next restart and the problems continued. It keeps getting worse. The start-up screen is taking longer and longer. I can use the machine, but something is obviously going on here.
I "chatted" with an apple guy in the support section. He told me to request a new "Inverter board"... Fine, I can probably do this, but apple gives you only ten days to return the "broken" one to them. (***? mail takes at least 5 days!) I am a computer novice, and getting into the nuts and bolts scares me! Opening up my computer? Taking out parts to replace them? He said if all of that doesn't work, then I need to replace the "mid-plane" which can only be done by a service provider. I live quite distant from the nearest!
What should I do? I live quite hours away from the closest service provider. I freelance work from home, and every day w/o my machine costs me $$$! I don't want to have to pay repair costs, my machine is too new!
This frustrates me to no end... my machine is less than a year old! My warranty is up at the end of December, so time is limited. Should I just take it in to a "service provider?" and lose my machine for weeks?
Frustrated... What should I do?

This is the iMac G4 discussions area. You may have better luck with machine-specific advice if you post in the iMac G5 discussions forum -- the correct forum for your computer. It is located HERE. I'd try posting your question there to see if anyone has any advice.
With my limited knowledge of the iMac G5 (I know more about the iMac G4) I'd say that you're probably best off requesting the new inverter board and attempting the replacement yourself. That'll provide the least amount of downtime. These ship-out replacements are really well described and are in-fact intended for computer novices, to my knowledge. There should be detailed instructions inside the package. If you follow them, I don't think you'll have much of a problem.

Dead Backlight vs Dead Inverter Board?

My Ti has fallen down on the clutch hinge (witch is broken). The screen seems to be OK but there is no more backlight. I can see the image on the screen whith a light behind and I can use the Ti with an external display. My question is :
How can I fix if the inverter bord is dead or something in the display itself and what part. Additionnaly, I'm curious to know how the blacklight works. A sheeme will be very helpful.

My 13" Macbook has a very dim screen. Replace inverter board or lcd screen?

I have a 13-inch Macbook and the screen display has gone extremely dim and is very hard to see. Should I replace the inverter board or lcd screen?

No dice I have it hooked up to an external display and can see that it isn't recognizing the battery. I've installed a brand new battery connector already, and this is the second battery (although they are from the same place, so maybe they had a bad batch?). I've done all the updates (firmware and Battery Updater) but still, nada. Any other suggestions?
I am not too familiar with this specific MacBook battery. When I push the button on the bottom, 4 out of the 5 lights come on, then the one in the middle, then they all go off. When I have it plugged in without the machine on, the light on the adapter is green. I start it up, and it goes to amber.
This is driving me crazy! What are the chances I would get two bad batteries? Or two bad battery connectors? Could it possibly be the logic board? I was thinking no, because it actually works fine without a battery and shuts off the backlight when the battery is plugged in.

What is INVERTER BOARD?

I sent my 17in MBP in for repair and they are in the process of shipping it back to my apple store. I had sent it in for the CPU whine and the applecare rep I just spoke with told me that they had replaced the INVERTER BOARD and not the Main Logic Board as the Mac Genius had suggested..
I was wondering what an inverter board is and if replacing the inverter board could possibly fix my CPU whine or if it's just for the display whine?
To clarify, the whine I had was the type where it was high pitched coming from the left side of the computer and only was present when I had both cores active. If I turned off one of the cores using the developer tools the whine went away.

The Inverter is related to the display (don't ask me the technical details tho!). AFAIK replacing the inverter fixes the display whine but not the CPU whine. The CPU whine is fixed by replacing the logic board.
I had the display whine - the service provider replaced the logic board first and when that didn't work they replaced the inverter. Now I have a CPU whine that I didn't have before the logic board was replaced. Grrr. Fortunately I don't notice teh CPU whine enough to bother getting it fixed. The display whine was driving me crackers every day tho!

Airport not working after having inverter board replaced

My MacBook's AirPort is not working. I took it to an Apple store to get the inverter board replaced to stop my screen from flickering and now my AirPort doesn't work. I can turn it on, but I can't see a wireless network. There are other computers on the network, so it's not a problem with the network. I'm just wondering if there is anything I can do to try to solve this problem without having to take my Mac back to the store and go without it for another day or two.

Normally that is on my list of to-dos when something network related isn't working. Unfortunately, I am not at my house, I am camping, and where we are staying provides wifi, so I can't really reset the router. Hopefully the router gets reset sometime tonight.
Usually I can see networks, but I can't see any right now.
