Invitees isn't working any more!!!! The server responded with an error.

When ever I try to invite someone to an event on my iCal it keeps popping this up!?
*The server responded with an error.*
The request for “name of my event” in “calendar” in account “[email protected]” failed.
The server responded with
“HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error”
to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation.
What does this mean? All I want to do is send someone an invite to a meeting and have it show
up in their iCal. Please help!

Does anyone know how to repair this problem.  It just began happening today.
    Thanks,
    Ken

We previously had a similar issue when migrating multiple accounts from MobileMe to iCloud.  The issue was resolved by disabling and then enabling iCal sync through iCloud on our iMacs in System Preferences.
Always backup your calendar before troubleshooting (File > Export > iCal Archive).
The following steps are roughly from a Apple Support Community discussion.
    Open iCloud in System Preferences.
Switch off (uncheck) iCal sync in iCloud System Preferences pane.
Backup iCal before doing this. You will need to remove calendar data.
Open iCal and verify the iCloud account is removed in the iCal preferences under accounts.
Close iCal, reopen System Preference and switch on (check) iCal sync in iCloud System Preferences pane.
Reopen iCal and verify the iCloud account is enabled in the iCal preferences under accounts.
At this point if the problem persists you might try completely signing out of iCloud and then signing back in. But remember to backup all related data (iCal, Contacts, Mail, Photostream, etc) before turning off iCloud sync!

  • OMacbook calendar gets the message "the server responded with an error" and is now not syncing. Any idea?

I haven't done anything to my Macbook (I don't think) but out of the blue when adding entries to my calendar,  I now get the message "the server responded with an error". Consequently it will not sync with the Cloud. I have an iMac which DOES sync with both iPad and the iPhone.
    Anyone any idea?
    ALan

Sorry, no help there. Ical does not stay open long enough to do anything with. All it does is crash and apologise and say it will notify Apple.
Guess I will just delete it altogether and use google calendar.

What I found works best is to do the following:
    Quit iCal on you
    Go to iCloud.com and sign-in
Create an event on the calendar
    Sign-out of iCloud.com
    Relaunch iCal
It will take a few seconds for the calender to resync, but you should see the new event pop up on the calender. After that, hopefully all is well.

  • "The Server Responded With An Error"

Y'day I was pasting details of a reserv into ICAL.  it was perhaps too much data.  As soon as I clicked to paste, I got msg "The Server Responded With An Error" & below that was the info I was copying into my calendar.  Then calendar froze.  Then "Force Quit", then reopen Ical & the same msg appears and frozen.  I attempted to drag the msg to trash to no avail.  I rebooted computer.  Everything else is working on my MacBookPro.  I do NOT have Lion.  Thks

That sounds like something went wrong in the database the governs syncing.
Restore from your backup to restore your calendar.
Reset your sync history: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iSync/3.1/en/9247.html and then follow the steps:
Go into iCal > Preferences > Accounts and delete the MobileMe account from here.
If you are using it you can then re-add it and be careful to enter in the correct name and password.
Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
__NOTE: Removing these files will remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
Once the computer is back up and running open iCal and test.

  • "The server responded with an error" when modifying or deleting an item

I can't modify or edit an item in my MobileMe syncronized calendar. I can move the item to a different date or time, but if I try to delete it or remove an attendee, I get the following error:
The server responded with an error.
The request for “***” in “Calendar” in account ***.***@me.com” failed.
    The server responded with
    “500”
    to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation.
I can't delete the item, or remove attendees from me.com either.
If I create another appointment, I can delete it, so I suspect it has something to do with the fact that I have invited attendees.
    Any suggestions?

Are you behind a firewall at work or elsewhere?  Does you calendar sync with some other system like google (could be the google server is not responding)?  All we know from the message is that your mac cannot reach the server.  Maybe try later.  Are you using wifi or have an ethernet connection to the router?

  • Ical freezes with "the server responded with an error"

Every time I open my calendar I receive "the server responded with an error."  The content of an old email is also showing under the message "the server responded with an error."    I am unable to access my calendar.

Back up all data. If you have iCloud calendars, archive them by following the instructions on this page under the heading "Downloading a calendar from iCloud.com." All you need is a web browser, not the Calendar application. Do the same with any other network calendars you have, if possible.
Before taking each of these steps, quit (force quit if necessary) the application. After taking the step, relaunch and test. When the problem is resolved (or when you complete Step 3 without resolving it), stop and close the Library folder.
    Step 1
Hold down the option key and select
              Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. From the folder that opens, move these items (some may not exist) to the Trash, leaving the Library folder open:
              Calendars/Calendar Cache
              Calendars/Calendar Cache-shm
              Calendars/Calendar Cache-wal
    Step 2
Move these files from the Library folder to the Desktop (again, some may not exist):
Containers/com.apple.CalendarAgent (and any others with a name beginning in "com.apple.Calendar")
Containers/com.apple.iCal (and any others with a name beginning in "com.apple.iCal")
              Preferences/com.apple.CalendarAgent.plist
              Preferences/com.apple.iCal.plist
If the problem is resolved, you may be able to put back some of the items you moved in this step, relaunching and testing after each one. Eventually you may find the one that caused the problem; delete it. Recreate your settings as necessary.
If the problem still isn't solved, put back each of the items you moved in this step, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. You don't have to put back the files you moved in Step 1.
    Step 3
Move this folder to the Desktop:
              Calendars
Note: you're not moving the Calendars application; you're moving a folder named "Calendars". If there's no change, put the folder back where it was.
If the problem is resolved after you move the Calendars folder, the event database is corrupt. You have these choices:
Restore the folder from a Time Machine snapshot or other backup that predates the corruption.
Use a third-party application such as Calendar Cleaner to try to repair the database.
For network calendar accounts, such as iCloud, all you should need to do is re-enter them in the preferences. For subscribed calendars, you only need to re-subscribe.

  • Constant message:"the server responded with an error"??

how do i fix a recurrent message that interferes with the use of my calendar...the message flashes constantly and says as a title:  "the server responded with an error" next it says "access to apple open training in "home" in account "icloud" is not permitted.  the server responded 403 to operation caldavwriteentityqueuable operation end of message...then it gives me a choice of ignore, try again or revert to server...until now i used to click ignore and it would sort of not come back that often, now it comes back in about 2 seconds whether i'm using the calendar or not and i have to constantly click it off...the most serious part is that it renders my calendar unusable...i need help!! thank you.  ana maria wilson

    Greetings,
    1. First make an iCal backup:  Click on each calendar on the left hand side of iCal 1 at a time highlighting it's name and then going to File Export > Export and saving the resulting calendar file to a logical location for safekeeping.
    2. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
---NOTE: Removing these files may remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
Once the computer is back up and running open iCal.
Go to iCal > Preferences > Accounts and delete your MobileMe account if present.
Quit and re-open iCal and then check iCal > Preferences > Accounts to make sure the MobileMe accounts stayed gone.
Now re-add it as Account Type : MobileMe and enter your full MobileMe email address and password exactly.
    Hope that helps.

  • Entering description of event into iCal, pasted too much text into event, responded with The server responded with an error. Preferences is greyed out, and window pop up comes up every time I open iCal and doesn't go away. Force quit, still opens. Help?

While pasting event description into iCal, accidently pasted too much text, causing "The server responded with an error" pop up. This pop us includes the event description, but because of the mass amount of text, the window shoots off the screen to the bottom, so if there was an exit red "x" available, it isn't visible or accessible. The iCal>preferences is greyed out and I have force quit and it pops up each time I use iCal. Is this even fixable?

My MacBook Pro 15in mid 2010 4gb 1067, 2.4gighertz i5, os 10.9.5 has locked up the calendar screen displays "The server responded with an error" and will not let me exit the msg or the screen I can use the rest of the computer.  I have turned of the computer, force quit and other things.  I tried to send a Calendar by email

I tried your suggestion but it did not work (hold shift down when re-launching calendar). Here is the message I keep getting. Help - this endless loop prohibits me from accessing any calendar functions.

  • ICal issue - "The server responded with an error"

Hi All. I've been having this error pop up on my iCal for the last week after the last iOS update and it's driving me a little batty.
I don't have any shared calendars, appointments loaded in. I'm just running the iCal calendar frm icloud between my Air and my iPhone.
    Error that pops up reads:
The server responded with an error.
The URL ***icloud***/principal/ encountered HTTP error 404. Make sure the URL is correct.
I haven't changed anything in settings. The appointments are still syncing between my computer and phone however, this pop up comes up every 5-30 seconds on my computer if iCal is open.
Ideas on how to fix it?

Is this the pop-up you get?
The request for account “[email protected]” failed.
    The server responded with
    “HTTP/1.1 502 Bad Gateway”
    to operation CalDAVAccountRefreshQueueableOperation.
I've never seen it before but am getting it this evening (UK time). Also if I try to log in to MMe Calendar it's not logging in but going to 'find my iPhone' like it did when Mail was mucking about a few weeks back.

  • ICal: The server responded with an error. The event ... was rejected by iCloud because it already exists

I exported my ical to send to a friend, then opened it to make sure that it would work to find out that it duplicated all my events, this how now left me with an infinite error message of "The server responded with an error. ... event already exists".
Please help! It took me amny hours to organise my school calender and deleteing it is not an option.

Yes where is the easy fix? I imported a calendar from my kids school district and whenever I enter a new event the error message for all events pops up.....The solution suggested by one is extremely cumbersome so I did not even try it....
Apple where r u with user friendliness? Please
